Will Photoshop CS5 run on a n AMD-based laptop?

I have an Intel based desktop PC and want to buy an AMD based laptop.
Will the CS5 photoshop program I have run on both types of processors?
This may be a stupid question to some, but I would like to be sure before I buy.
Thanks, Fred

It's not a stupid question, but lucky for you those times like back in the 1990s where AMD processors were not fully compatible are long past. As long as you have your system running and installed all AMD specific stuff like motherboard drivers and Windows updates, I would not expect issues. I'd be more concerned about compatibility if the new laptop runs Win 8 instead of Win 7... There may be minor issues to overcome.

  • Will Photoshop CS5 run in 32-bit mode in OS x 10.8

I have a Photoshop plugin that only runs in 32-bit mode. So when I upgraded to CS6 I've kept CS5 and launch it in 32-bit mode when I want to use the plugin. Will I be able to do this when OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is released?

    markerline is correct.
At a minimum, you'll want to at least ask in the Photoshop forum. This forum is for Adobe Contribute which is unrelated to your post. Good luck.

  • Will Photoshop CS5 run on my MacBook Pro

    Hi,
I've a MacBook Pro 2.16 running OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard.
But it has a Core Duo processor, not a Core2Duo.
Will it run om my Core Duo ?
    Thanks...

Intel Core Duo - 32 bit , only 32 bit version of Photoshop will be available
Intel Core 2 Duo - 64 bit - Both 32 bit and 64 bit options to run Photoshop are available

  • Will photoshop CS5 work with Lion

I need to get a new photoshop, mine is out of date. Will Photoshop CS5 work with OS 10.7.2? Adobe doesn't include 10.7.2 in their tech specs.

I have it and it runs fine on Lion.

  • Will photoshop cs5 student/teacher work ok with my sons laptop?

My son has the following Laptop.  How well will Adobe Photoshop student/teacher CS5 work on it.
I have heard different answers and thought it best to ask here.
    Thanks for the help!!
    HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    AMD Phenon N830 Tripple-Core Processor
    2.10 GHz
    4.00 GB
    64- bit operation
    1600 X 900 resolution
    378 GB free space
AMD M880G with ATI mobility Radeon HD 4250

That's a healthy system, and will run Photoshop CS5 quite well.
I especially like the high pixel density (though I hope your son has good eyesight; the UI elements of Photoshop will be pretty small).
The big positives I see are:
    64 bit operation.
Large pixel count in the display.
    ATI display adapter.
    Quite good processor power.
Some things that he might want to consider upgrading down the line:
Increasing the 4 GB of RAM to 8 GB.
    Adding a second disk drive.

  • Having problems with Photoshop CS5 running on 34 bit Vista

I recently downloaded CS5 Design premium, and I seem to be having trouble running bridge.  I'm using MS Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2 on an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600  @ 2.40GHz.  3gb of RAM and 256MB GeForce 8500 GT graphics card (if that matters).  I was wondering if there is a way to fix this, or maybe a 32-bit version of Photoshop CS5.
And if there isn't, is there a way to remove the bridge access buttons from photoshop?  Seeing something useless in a five hundred dollar program bothers me quite a bit.  Thanks in advance.

Apparently, something went wrong with your Photoshop installation. I would try fully uninstalling Photoshop and then run the "CS5 cleaner tool" (see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/829/cpsid_82947.html). Then try reinstalling making sure you turn off all anti-virus software and UAC (User Account Control) and run as an Administrator equivalent.
If you still have problems, please contact Adobe Technical support directly.
To answer you question about the buttons, no, there is no way of disabling that functionality.

  • Photoshop CS5 running VERY slow

    Hi,
My Photoshop CS5 started running very slowly. I followed some suggestions and removed a bunch of programs and services from the start up menu. I also disabled Windows Search Host Protocol as I was getting frequent performance warnings from it while using Photoshop.
Now Photoshop runs faster, but it takes incredibly long time to save files. The computer goes into hybernation mode waiting for Photoshop to finish saving.
I imagine this was caused by disabling one of the services in the start up menu or by disabling of Windows Search Host Protocol.
Does anyone know what programs and services need to be included in the start up menu for efficient working of Photoshop. And whether disabling of Windows Search Host effects the running speed of Photoshop?
    Thank you,
    Margrarita

    Margrarita,
Disabling Windows services that may be essential to normal functioning of your operating system itself is not something that is recommended.
First and foremost, we need to review Photoshop's behavior on your computer to be able to advice further.
Can you go to Help > System Info from Photoshop, copy & paste that data here for us to analyse, thereby give you further suggestions?

  • Photoshop CS5 running on Win-8 and its not behaving well

Just loaded up Photoshop CS5.1 onto a new computer running Windows 8 (non-touchscreen desktop) and everything seemed fine until I selected part of an image to start transforming it.  The image went black and only flicked into view now and then but impossible to work on it at all.  Same thing happens on any other select and modify command.  Anyone have an idea or work-around on this?

    That's a known bug in Win8.
Set the GPU advanced mode to "Basic" for the time being.
Also check with your GPU maker for updated drivers.

  • Will Photoshop CS run on Windows 7 (first version of CS)

I replaced my old Windows XP machine with a Windows 7 Professional (64 bit). I've read that older programs needed the XP mode of Windows 7 to run.

Before you do that, you should know you will never activate Photoshop CS. Activation has been retired.
The good news is that Adobe has a non-activated copy of Photoshop CS2 just for you free of charge.
Get the installer and the accompanying serial number here:

  • Will Photoshop CS5 work with Adobe CS 4 Design Premium Suite?

I have been debating to upgrade just the Photoshop to CS5 from my CS4 Design Premium Suite.  I still need training and skill development time with the other software in the suite, but feel pretty good with photoshop CS4 to upgrade to CS5.  Will everything still work together or do I need to upgrade the whole suite?  Thanks

The two applications will work together fine, but…
You CANNOT upgrade to a single, stand-alone application from a suite license under the terms of the EULA, which was clear when you bought the suite.  When you bought the suite, you commited to upgrading the whole suite forever.
So, unless you have a license for a full version of stand-alone Photoshop that has never been used to upgrade to anything, you are stuck with the suite.
I've never bought the suite and use very different versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and InDesign with no problem.

  • New 8core mac pro, photoshop CS5 running slow

    Hi all
I recently decided to switch from PC to MAC. I used to work on a quad core Dell XPS 710 which was very good but decided that an 8core mac would improve the performance of my work flow.
My new mac is a 2x2.26 quad core xeon with 8 gigs of ram and running the latest Mac OS. The computer itself runs fine but photoshop seems very laggy doing simple tasks such as moving images on layers etc. I've tried allocating up to 85% of the memory to photoshop in the preferences but nothing seems to make any difference.
At the moment I would say it runs at 3-4times slower than my old PC which seems madness to me
Any help, tips or advice would be much appreciated
    Thanks
    Trevor

Yes, something is wrong if it is running slower.
Did you install the 12.0.1 update?
Have you tried disabling third party plugins?
Have you tried updating your wacom tablet drivers?
Have you tried font cleanup as suggested in the other topics on slowdowns?
