Will Photoshop photos open in PSE 6?

The photos I have on my iMac G5 10.4.11 which carry the label jpeg will open in Preview. The photos that are labeled Adobe Photoshop jpeg will NOT open in Preview or anywhere else. When I try to open any of these photos, Photoshop CS2 Version 9 tries to open them,  but then a dialog box appears which says " the application Photoshop quit unexpectedly" and that is as far as I can get. If I buy PSE 6, will those that carry the label Photoshop then open? (My son recently installed Photoshop on this computer, but I can't get it to open and he is out of the country). Thanks again.

As I said in your other thread, the answer is that there appears to be something wrong with the images in question and buying more adobe products is not going to change this. You should start by figuring out how those files were created (what did you do to edit the originals, for example), and then fix your CS2 installation, if there's something wrong there, but it sounds like the files are corrupt. If that will not open them, neither will any version of PSE (unless they're raw files, which these are not).

Why will Photoshop CS4 not open after loading to new iMac from an external hard drive and I get this message: Licensing for this product has stopped working:error code: 150:30

A Photoshop installation is tied to the machine it was installed on. Moving it to or from a hard drive breaks the licensing.
The answer is easy: Reinstall CS4 from your disc. and apply all updates.

  • PSE 8 Photoshop Bridge vs. PSE 9 Organizer

I was using PSE 8 for Mac then I loaded PSE 9.  The latter is dual platform (good whether one uses Mac or Windows).  However, I was disappointed to find that Photoshop Bridge was replaced by Organizer.  After working with the Organizer, I realize that I prefer PS Bridge.  How can I keep PSE 9 but substitute Bridge for Organizer?
    Thanks

Don't use the welcome screen. Go into the PSE 9 folder in applications and launch the editor directly, by using this file instead:
then create dock icons for the editor and for Bridge.  Once a program is open, click its dock icon and choose More Options>Keep in Dock.
To launch bridge now, you'll click the dock icon instead of clicking in the PSE window. That's all. And file formats that you had set bridge to open in PSE will now automatically open in PSE 9 rather than PSE 8. If for some reason that doesn't happen, go to Bridge>Preferences>File Type Associations and change the ones that don't.

  • I can not open my photo, opened in lightroom, in photoshop CS4. Plug-in camera raw is missing

I can not open my photo, opened in lightroom, in photoshop CS4. a plug-in camera raw  xx is missing. Advice to update does not work. There is no plug-in in the map photoshop plug-ins.

This is expected. CS4 will never be able to open files from a current version of LR and a modern camera.

Bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor. The Editor's executable is:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe" The Organizer's executable is:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe" The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again. • Organizer will not open on PSE 8 Mac, how do i access?

I just installed PSE 8 for Mac. I chose this version of PSE for the organizer which I was trained in and intend to transfer files from I -Photo (someway) to PSE. Anyway the issue now is that there is no organizer tab to set up organization. There is an essential tab but it does not respond. Can anyone help ?

I read the intro to new PSE 8 which specifically indicated
that it had Organizer...the first time for Mac.
No, not this time, I'm afraid. Still no organizer. Where did you see this?
I don't use either organizer or iphoto much, because I just don't love asset management programs, but to use iphoto with PSE, you have two choices:
    1. Set PSE as your external editor and send your photos from iphoto. Save, not Save As, without changing name or format (you may need to go into the PSE preferences>On First Save to be able to do this) and iphoto will remember one edited photo version plus original.
    2. Export your photos from iphoto before editing, then use File>Open in PSE, reimport the edited photos under a new name. This allows you to save as many different versions and formats as you like.
I mostly use bridge and my own folder system for organizing photos.
In PSE 8 it is technically possible to open photos in iphoto using the Open command in PSE, but since their thumbnails never update in iphoto and you can't right click to choose any editing options after doing this, I'd advise against it, since evidently iphoto doesn't like it much.

  • Will Photoshop Elements 12 work with Mac OS X v10.9.4? Need to make sure before opening package... Thanks!

Will Photoshop Elements 12 work with Mac OS X v10.9.4? I need to make sure before opening package... Thanks in advance!

Yes, PSE versions 6 through 12 work in 10.9, although PSE 11 is a bit buggy. All other versions are fine, including PSE 12.

If you want just the originals, then you can go into the Aperture library (right click on it and do "show package contents"). Inside is a directory called "Masters" and you can find the original files in a bunch of subfolders.
But... you'll lose all adjustments, keywords, and other information, and just have the files as they were imported originally from the cameras.
Easiest is probably to buy Aperture and update everything, and then migrate to the Photos application down the road if that's what you want. Aperture 3.0 came out in 2010 (five years ago!) so it's not like you've upgraded in a while

  • FAQ: Will Photoshop work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

    What is a raw file?
A raw file is the unprocessed light data that was captured by your camera sensor. The only settings on your camera that apply to this file are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. This means that any settings you may have applied to the file, such as white balance, or black and white effects, have no effect. Because this sensor data is raw, it must be processed or baked into an actual image file, that's where the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in comes in.
    What is Adobe Camera Raw?
ACR interprets the raw data and makes image information out of it. But every camera has a unique sensor and thus has a unique form of raw file. Even though camera manufactures may use the same file extension each time (e.g. Nikon raw files are always .NEF), each camera model has a different way of storing information. Because of this, we must continually update ACR for new cameras. As we add new cameras to the list (over 300 now) we update our published list of supported cameras. Additionally, with the changes to ACR, newer releases will not always be compatible with older versions of Photoshop.
So, will the my raw files work with Photoshop?
So if you are wondering if your camera is supported by ACR or will work in Photoshop, first check this list:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Once you know whether your camera is supported by ACR and by which version, check this list to see whether your version of Photoshop supports that version of ACR or later:
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
If your version of Photoshop should open raw files from your camera, make sure you have the latest version of ACR installed. Go to Help > Updates to install the latest ACR release.
You can also manually download and install ACR updates:
    Macintosh
    Windows

Since pse 9 can only use up to camera raw 6.5 and the d600 needs at least 7.3 and the d800 needs at least 6.7, you can use the
8.6 adobe dng converter to convert those files to dng copies, which then pse 9 should open.

  • How do i stop photoshop from opening all the recovered photos

i realize that i probably caused this problem but i need to fix it.... dozens and dozens of photos open and it takes forever. closing them doesn't work, they just come back the next time i open cs6.

Beyond manually finding the files for removal, consider this:
Photoshop is supposed to remove those backup files itself after you've successfully closed them.
That it's not doing so implies possibly a permissions problem, where deletions of files from within your scratch PSAutoRecover area by you are not allowed.  You'll want to look at the permissions of those folders/files and change them so that you do have access.  I'm sorry to say I do not know the specific commands, as I am not a Mac user.

  • How do I make photos in Bridge open to PSE 6 by default?

I have both PSE 4 and PSE 6 on my computer...Just bought the version 6. When I double click a photo in Bridge it opens in PSE 4. How do I make PSE 6 the default opener for Bridge? MAC OSX.5.7

Without knowing anything of Bridge for Elements in Bridge for CS in the
preferences menu there is File Type Association, inhere  you are able to set
the desired application as default to different file types.
That said, if you have made a correct install (at least with CS) the file
type automatically changes to the latest version of the application.
