Will pivot control be available in windows phone 10

Will pivot control be available in windows phone 10 or it will be replaced by some other control(may be Hub control) ???

Microsoft has not anounced much on the Developer story for Windows 10 on phones yet. The most that was said was a few days back during Mobile World Congress but I can't remember this topic being touched on. For more information we will have to wait for //Build
conference in April.
Pivot/Panorama seem to be on their way out though, going by how it's been handled in the Technical Preview of Windows 10 so far.

When is Firefox Mobile going to be available for windows phone?

May be there is no possibilities in near future to implement Firefox for windows phone. There are some technical and legal issue for deploying Firefox on windows phone. Moreover Mozilla is spending more energy on it's own mobile operating system which is Firefox OS.

  • Why skype is not available for windows phone 7.8 e...

    Hi Team,
Why skype is not available for windows phone 7.8, earlier it was there in wp 7.8 market place... Please bring it back for WP 7.8

Yet more shoddy treatment of those who bought in to win phone 7. Makes me feel foolish for recommending windows phone to friends and colleagues. "We want everyone to experience the best Skype has to offer" and your way of doing this is to take it away!
My next phone is unlikely to be a win phone 8, and I'll look at alternatives to skype.

    Hi NareshKumar,
Volume control always needed by play some media stuff, could you please tell us why and where do you need the volume control.
Basically as I know if we play the sound by MediaElement, it has a
Volume property, or what kind of media play control are you using?
Indeed, there is no API that can directly control the system volume, only user can manage that.

No as Mozilla only makes mobile Firefox for Android 2.3+ with a ARMv7 or Intel x86 cpu.

  • When will Bootcamp drivers be available for Windows 8?

I am unable to load Win8 using Bootcamp. The forums say drivers are currently not available for Bootcamp from Apple? Does anyone know when the drivers will be available?

Instead, you can install Windows 7 on Boot Camp. Also, see if it's better for you Boot Camp or a virtual machine > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3321

  • Are there previous versions of icloud control panel available for Windows Vista x64?

I have had icloud 2.1.3 running on my pc for years (up to tonight). I uninstalled it from my computer in hopes to update the software. Unfortunately, I learned that the latest version of the icloud control panel is only compatible with Windows 7/8. I contacted Apple support to re-download the software and I'm being told that there's no way to obtain a previous version. ***? Does apple honestly leave consumers of their products high and dry like that? Wow!
Does anyone know of a trustworthy source to re-download previous versions of icloud control panel that are compatible with Windows Vista x64?

I does work, I also had it on my PC/Vista, but had to reformat and now I cannot find it....sheesh

  • When will ADMT/PES be available for Windows Server 2012?

Having upgraded to Windows Server 2012 I would like to trash the AD and take users and their passwords across to a new domain.  The main reason for this is that the AD still has a load of hacks in it from Exchange 2007 to segregate address
books.  I want to tidy things up ready for Exchange 2013 so I'm building a new domain.
To get the passwords across I need to run PES on the old domain with a key generated on the new domain.  ADMT 3.2 will not support this.
So my question is when is ADMT 3.3 (guessing) and PSE for Win2012 going too be released?

  • Converting a "windows phone silverlight pivot" app to a universal app, possible?

Ok so when trying to suss out the emulator(thats been resolved) i stumbled onto the universal app page of msdn....now as a fledgling coder im not too verse at reading the msdn pages (they are on the whole not designed for beginners) but i had a tinker
    around
i managed to get a similier interface on the phone portion of the app to my pivot app (indeed the universal one is pivot too) but none of the code i added to the shared section could access the textboxes / text blocks of the phones interface ie where on my
program i will say "raceDisplay.Text = charRace;" which would put the string of charRace into the raceDisplay text block it cant see raceDisplay which is really confusing...
so is there a good guide to converting a windows 8.1 silverlight pivot app to a universal app?
I had planed to get the phone app done first and then make a whole new app for desktops, universal would (in theory) save me having to duplicate all my work and allow me to update both at the same time (unless i misunderstand the shared code stuff)

    Hi D.Eastwick,
    >>but none of the code i added to the shared section could access the textboxes / text blocks of the phones interface ie where on my program i will say "raceDisplay.Text = charRace;" which would put the string of charRace into the raceDisplay
text block it cant see raceDisplay which is really confusing...
For this issue, it will be better if you can try to post a simple reproduce project in here.
    >>so is there a good guide to converting a windows 8.1 silverlight pivot app to a universal app?
The pivot control is available in the Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight and Windows universal app. But some API/Controls which are available in the Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight may not be available in the Windows universal app, besides, some API may have
a different namespace betwwen the Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight and Windows universal app, so you should pay attention to it. For more information, please try to refer to the following articles:

  • Grid Control only 32-bit available for Windows

Couple of questions I was hoping to get some help with. Client is a windows only shop. We're installing Windows 2008 R1 64-bit, but Grid Control is only available with 32-bit for Windows. This will definitely cause issues, is the only around it to either load 32-bit, or is there any other option. And when will 64-bit be available for Windows? Thanks in advance.

Grid Control itself is a 32 bit application . It installs and works furpectly well on 64 bit Windows. I doubt we will ever see a 64-bit version of GC in the 10g series ... perhaps when they swap out OC4J with WLS and rebrand it as 11g they might put in a 64-bit version, but quite honestly there is little need for the 64-bit capability in the middle tier.
However, the database part can, and should, be swapped out for a 64-bit database. Which is supported in the install method.
I STRONGLY ENcourage the following sequence:
    1) Install 11gR1 database 64 bit, preferably patched to 11.1.0.7
    2) Install Grid Control 10.2.0.2.1 (note the .1) for Windows using the 'into an existing database' option
    3) Upgrade Grid Control to 10.2.0.5 (but that MAY require the 11.1.0.7 patch - check the README)
I STRONGLY DIScourage using the 'create with new database' as it will take a whole lot longer, requires upgrading and/or patching the database anyway, and potentially leaves you with an obsolete DB to contend with in the long run.
I also encourage skipping 10.2.0.4 if possible - it's more than a ruddy pain to patch to that one. I generally plan on 5-6 hours if I am forced to install a 10.2.0.4 GC from scratch, whereas the process I list above takes just over 2 hours to get to a 10.2.0.5

  • QuickControl app for Windows Phone 8.1???

    Hello,
I'm totally happy with my Thinkpad X240 but I would like to be able to use remote control -for instance to pause/resume VLC player when the Thinkpad is hooked up to my TV. I read that Lenovo has this great program 'QuickControl', but you obviously need an accompanying app on your smartphone.
I can find the app for iOS and Android, but I happen to own a Windows Phone (with WP8.1)... Since I'm trying to build a 'Windows Only' life after mixed experiences with Android and OSX, I would really like the QuickControl app to be available for Windows Phone. I guess it would make sense for Lenovo -being a manufacturer of PC's- to also develop QuickControl for the Windows Phone...
Does any of you community members know where to find this app, or if/when it will become available? Or do you know another WP app that can communicate with QuickControl installed on a Thinkpad X240?
Any help is much appreciated. Oh, and by the way: Happy Holidays everyone!

    Nice free

  • Windows Phone 8 App Maturity

Previously I'd been a long time Symbian user with my last one being a Nokia N97.
When it was no longer tolerable I switched to an Android phone and felt like I'd taken a step backwards in functionality from the sophisticated and well-integrated built-in apps and the world of 3rd party apps (if you knew where to look on the web).
Now that I've bought a Nokia Lumia 1020, I feel like I've taken a gigantic flying leap backwards!
So much that you'd expect to be standard on smartphones just isn't in there (for example "Audio Profiles").
The apps that came with the phone are so fragments and poorly designed and the ones in the Microsoft Store aren't much better.
Even the Nokia app from copying data from my old phone brought just about everything from my Android phone EXCEPT THE PHONE NUMBERS.
It's almost if they are deliberately trying to discourage using the phone for MAKING PHONE CALLS.
The camera is great and is most of the reason why I bought the 1020, but I thought that the software would at least be respectable.
From reading the forum here and elsewhere I see that most people blame Microsoft for the lack of openness (can't get to the file system or get hooks into the hardware--why else are there no weather apps that give you the weather where you are currently?).
I sure hope that better software is in the development "tunnel" on its way to the users.

There are boatloads of weather apps with accurate weather information. In fact juste recently a very good roundup has been posted HERE.
When you have driven a certain car for a long time geting into another make/model will always fell different and you may not be able to find the controls you look for right away. Generally you would find what you seek quicker by asking instead of going off on how lousy your new car is since it does not have this and that..
Sure, there's stuff you would have had on Symbian which is not available in Windows Phone, but the reverse is also true and Symbian is dead and gone while we're seeing Windows Phone improve and seeing updates about once every six months at least.
So instead of posting a pointless rant, maybe post your questions. A rant won't get you any help or solutions, asking question just might.
The íssue with Android/Google account phone numbers has been posted about several times here and getting that resolved takes a little effort but is easy enough.
    1. export contacts from gmail to a .csv file
    2. Download Windows Mail using the Microsoft essentials
    3. When installed log in to it using your Microsoft account
    4. Import your .csv file into windows mail
    5. You contacts with phone numbers will show up on your Lumia 1020 as they sync to your Microsoft account
There are several other options, most of which have been discussed here too.
Which apps do you feel are 'fragments' and 'poorly designed'? How do you define these?
What apps in the store are not much better and why?
Profiles I could see be useful for some but they're not here (yet).
