hey guyz i wanted to ask whether playing excessive (1-2 hours daily) need for speed carbon on my macbook pro using the arrow keys to control the car damage the arrow keys of the MBP??
pls answer asap i am worried..

I don't think that you have to worry about arrow keys because they won't damage with their use (unless you hit heavily these keys). Using games, there are other things to worry, as the temperature of the Mac, but fans will turn on automatically when your Mac needs

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
2. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and anything is plugged in, unplug it before putting the system to sleep.
3. If you've installed something called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and reboot. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
4. If you've installed an equalizer called "Boom" or anything similar, update or delete it and reboot.
5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select the Output tab. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them. Move the Volume sliders all the way to the right.
7. If a red light is coming from the audio-out port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Reboot and test.
9. Boot in safe mode. Don't log in; just reboot as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
10. Reset the NVRAM.
11. Reset the SMC.
12. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data. For a possible shortcut, see this thread.
13. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

Preloaded Need for Speed game

So according to the website, they are inclueding the full game. Here's the description from the site:
"Push it to the limit on Android. Drive 28 of the world’s fastest cars through 18 international tracks and feed your need for speed."
But when I play it, I get ONE car and ONE track....a bit of a false advertisement here. Maybe you guys should fix the description on the site.

Amen. I believe I read that it included the full game, but the one car, one track was underwhelming. Are we missing something?

What cable(s) do I need to connect my late 2011 MacBook Pro to the new VIZIO HDMI tv in my classroom?

I want to use the VIZIO large-screen TV mounted on the wall of my classroom to mirror the screen on my new MacBook Pro.
I am already mirroring my iPad 2 with GREAT results using AppleTV. Using the HD Note Taker App is a dream.
Graphing calculator apps are brilliant, too. ( I teach Precalculus and AP Calculus)

You need a MiniDisplay port to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable. The MDP adapter plugs into the Thunderbolt port.

When you first connect, it will default to "extended desktop mode". To mirror, press CMD F1 or set mirror mode in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab

There is native system Windows 8.1 for one language (It is initially installed on HDD).
Also there is system Windows 8.1 Update 1 Pro established on SSD.
And on these two systems there is no sound in game NFS Rivals though the sound in BF 4 is (these two games on one engine, Frostbite 3).
That I only did, system restored through Recovery Manager.
On SSD reinstalled through a flash card, result that there that there - a zero.
What to do?

I understand sound is not working while playing Need For Sped Rivals.
If you are only experiencing issues with this particular application I suggest reinstalling it. Make sure you contact the vendors before doing this in case there is any license key issue reinstalling the game. If the game was purchased through something like Steam or Origins this should not be an issue.

I just bought *Need For Speed: Carbon*. I thought I met the requirements, but some other forumes discuss the ATI card may not be enough for the game. The game gives me the error "Cannot locate the DVD-ROM", although it is clearly inserted. I followed the instructions exactly, installed it onto my iMac, and then typed in the CD Key provided on the booklet.
*My Apple iMac* from 2007 has 2.8 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, with 2GB DDR2 SDRAM. 800MHz Bus Speed and L2 cache of 4 MB. I am using an _ATI Radeon HD2600_ graphics card. I am running Mac OSX 10.5.7.
*Need For Speed: Carbon's* requirements for the game are Mac OSX 10.4.9 or higher, 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster, 512 MB RAM or more, 8x or faster DVD-ROM drive, 5.3 GB or more free space on HDD, and finally video cards Nvidia (7300 or better), *ATI (X1600 or better)* +Note: GMA950 integrated graphics adapter is not supported.+
Help!? I have all the required specifications. I don't understand why it isn't accepting the program and not booting at user prompt. Thanks in advance.

But how do you install the drivers if Bootcamp is running interference?
Bottom line, I'ev tried to install three different versions of updated ATI driver sover the last few momnths and on each and every occassion have ended up with the original Bootcamp driver. A number of current games are unplayable on a Mac running Bootcamp as a result.
And if I can't run the software I want, then Bootcamp is as useless as boobs on a bull.
