Will Premiere Elements 10 recognize MOV files?

I have a new EOS 60D Canon camera.  Will Premiere Elements 10 recognize the .MOV file the videos are stored as?

With a powerful computer, PrE can handled H.264 just fine.
What are the specs. of your computer, and especially the CPU? Ideally, one should have a fast i7 to easily process H.264, whether it is in AVCHD, or some other wrapper, like MOV.
Now, many camera mfgrs. work in different "flavors" of H.264, and the one that is common in most PrE installations, is Apple's H.264, installed with Apple's QT Player. However, that might not be the best one. If your Canon came with a utility disc, it should have the Canon version of H.264 (note that might differ from a Canon H.264 for another camera, but should be close). That H.264 CODEC might be a separate, discrete install, might be installed with the camera's driver, or might be installed with some Canon editing/cataloging utility, which would be most common. Even if one is not going to use that software, if the CODEC is part of it, then installation would be a good idea.
Then, one would create a New Project, that should match that Source Footage 100%. When one of the Clips has been dragged to the Timeline, in a properly setup Project, there should be NO red line above that footage, until and Effect, or some sort of overlay, has been added. If there IS a red line initially, then the Project does not match the Source Footage 100%, and it should.
To get the best possible match, between the Source Footage and the Project, it would be best to be working with PrE 10, as it contains more DSLR Presets, and if one has the proper CODEC installed, then editing on a stout computer should go fine.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Will Premiere Elements 10 output full 1920 x 1080p? (not 1080i) to a file?

I know this is a really simple question, but I can't find the answer anywhere in the software specs, and all sorts of variations of searches bring up no results in the Forum.
I have bought, at full price, (not even upgrade price) every version of Premiere Elements since version 5.  I currently have V 9.  I can find no way of outputting proper, full, 1920 x 1080p @ 25FPS despite having this as my input source material. (UK JVC Everio Camcorder TOD format in fulll 1080p.)   (Not 1080i - 1080p!)
I usually end up setting the project settings to 720p 25FPS (using 1080p source material) and outputting at that, which is a shame.
So the simple question is as above. Will Premiere Elements 10 output full 1920 x 1080p (not 1080i) at 25FPS (British standard) to a file on disk?  Preferably in both MPEG4 for best quality uppload to YouTube, and also as a .WMV file format.
(If anyone knows a way to do this in Version 9, I'd be  really pleased to hear it - although I have asked that question before.  :-)
    Cheers, folks.
    Steve.

You should be able to set your output up for progressive scan under the Advanced settings.

  • Premiere Elements 9: .AVI file - no sound

I am using Premiere Elements 9, video files imported using the import function in Adobe Organizer from an Insignia NS-DV1080P digital video camera.  File format is .AVI.
The videos play fine from the organizer and other video players, however when I edit the files with Premiere Elements 9 the audio is all but lost.  There is an audio track in Premiere but the sound is so quiet as to be nearly gone.  Increasing the audio using the volume controls makes no difference.  Video is also very jumpy.
I have used different presets, but have not found any difference between the various settings.
    System info:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
    AMD 2.60 Ghz Processor
    6GB RAM
Has anyone come across this problem, or do you have any idea how to fix it?

    Welcome to the forum.
AVI is but a wrapper, and can contain a lot of different "stuff," both Audio and Video. This ARTICLE will give you some background, and some tips on finding out what is inside the AVI files.
Some cameras also record a mono signal, and this can often lead to very low dB levels in PrE/PrPro. Often, just doing either a Fill Right, or Fill Left will get the levels up to adequate. In some cases, one would need to duplicate the mono file and align it with the original. I would Pan one Left and one Right. The mix-down will be 2-channel anyway.
Also, you can increase the Gain of the Clips, by Rt-clicking and choosing Audio Gain. Just Click-drag on the 0.0 to increase.
There are other possibilities, but where you seem to be observing this in your workflow, I feel that they are unlikely candidates. We can address them, should the above not help out.
    Good luck,

  • Will Premiere Elements edit a HD video from a 5D Mark II

    Hello,
This may sound like a dumb question but I have been unable to determine it in my research so I thought I would ask. I am looking for a simple software to do minor edits on a HD video from my 5D Mark II. I really don't want to spend 500.00 on software right at the moment so I'm looking for a cheaper solution. Will Premiere Elements edit one of these videos? It seems like the Macs do the job but I don't have a Mac Any help would be appreciated.
    Kim

The bigger challenge isn't just that this is Quicktime video -- it's that this is video from a still camera, which often uses non-standard codecs to create more compact video files.
You can try to convert the video to DV-AVIs using one of the free tools listed in the FAQs to the right of this forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
But you definitely won't be able to edit video directly from that camera in Premiere Elements without running into lots of problems.

  • Premiere Elements 13 - .MOV crash!

When I try to import files I've filmed on my iPod (.MOV) to Premiere Elements 13, it crashes! - no error message. Re-opening Premiere then is impossible unless I restart my PC. Is this a file type issue? Is there a better way to import my iPod clips other than copying & pasting from the DCIM folder? Help appreciated! Thanks,

    Tom
    Thanks for the reply.
    The keys here
    a. You have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer.
    https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
This applies to you even if you are running Windows 8.1 64 bit.
    b. You want to be running Premiere Elements from a User Account with Administrative Privileges.
See Control Panel/User Accounts and Family Safety/User Accounts and Manage other Accounts which
should show you the accounts.....Look for Name/Local Account/Administrator for the account that you are using.
That applies to QuickTime as well as Premiere Elements.
    c. Import your files to a hard drive save location. Then, import them into the Premiere Elements Expert
workspace using Premiere Elements' Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag
the file to the Timeline. (There is a drag and drop way, but let us first make sure we can do it as I have described.)
I do not think that the following has anything to do with this current matter. All that this is telling me is when you open a file
with the .mov file extension it is set to open to the Video app of your computer, provided the Video app supports the .mov file
    that you have.
Also, my .MOVs are set to open as default in the new Windows 8 app 'Video' - do you know if this is right?
Please let me know if you are OK with the above. If not, please do not hesitate to ask for clarification.
    Thank you.

  • IPhoto 9.6 Does Not Recognize .MOV files!!! - HELP!

Re: iphoto won’t import mov video
    in response to léonie
I just read the thread to which léonie pointed. (Thanks!)
In System>Library>Caches, I had a file named "com.apple.xpchelper.cache". That file showed a modification date of yesterday -- I don't know what changes this file. Quite likely it was the install of 10.9.5 that I did yesterday.
Now, I was lucky enough to have a clone of my system from 3-4 days ago. I copied the older (cloned) version of this file, which itself had a modification date of about a month ago - to the working system. (I first renamed the current "com.apple.xpchelper.cache" to be safe.)
Then, I restarted ... and everything works like before! All movies play, and I can import.
I am not sure at all why this happened or why the above has fixed things for me, but it seems it has!
I am very happy to have fixed this issue without having to do a system recovery, which always has hitches here and there, and takes a decent chunk of time no matter how "backed up" you are.

  • Can I play adobe premiere elements media cache files (original files lost)

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 9 and have lost a number of the video original files and updated video files.
However, I noticed that I have numerous adobe premiere elements media cache files (I dont think I ever cleared out the cache) - are these playable or am I able to use these to re-create the originals / make replacement videos.

OK, thanks for your prompt reply. I thought I could access them in some way to either view or re-edit.
I might as well delete them, if they no longer have a use.

  • Why will CS3 not recognize Pict files?

Why is it that CS3 Photoshop will not open Pict files, even after
going into Image Info and saying open all images like this Pict file in CS3.
    . . . . and yet . . . .
I can open the Tiger OS application PREVIEW and open the same Pict file?
I can open any Pict file in Preview and convert to jpg, then CS3 seems to
recognize the image file and open it.
Why will CS3 not recognize Pict files?

    Oy!
    The Mac Paint.plugin has to be in ./Applications/Adobe Photoshop Cs3/plug-Ins/File Formats/Mac Paint.plugin
You need to find the Mac Paint.plugin in the Goodies/Optional Plug_ins/File Formats/… then relaunch Photoshop.

  • Will premiere elements be going to 64 bit

will premiere elements be going to 64 bit

This is a USER TO USER forum, so nobody here knows Adobe's plans
Anyone who is a Beta tester has signed a "don't talk" agreement, and may not comment
Any employee who posts here may also not comment on Adobe's plans... until the CEO is ready to make an announcement
So... nobody who posts here knows, or is allowed to comment if they do know anything
My personal GUESS is that since Premiere Elements is oriented to the person who is going to use a standard 32bit operating system, not a heavy duty 64bit editing computer... that PreElements will stay 32bit until ALL computers are 64bit

  • Premiere Elements 8 - No files will open / Can't make new documents

I have a Dell Studio 1745, and have had the Premiere Elements 8 package for a while, and although I've had problems in the past with different things (such as no audio or crashes) I have never had a problem with being able to open anything.
Within the last 4 months I have not been able to open any file or create a new one. I get the whole backing screen with the menu bar, but whenever I try to open a file or do a new one, nothing happens.
I have tried looking on the online support but it's like a maze, and can't seem to get anywhere.
I would really appreciate it if someone were able to help me with this or knew what I could do.
    Thanks,
    Tom

As it says at the top of the forum, we'll need lots more information in order to be able to help.
How fast is your processor and how much RAM do you have? How much free, clean, freshly defragmented space is on your C drive? When did you last run a program like Advanced System Care to clean and tune your computer? http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html
A lack of hard drive space is the most common reason the program can't open. You need at least 20 gigabytes of free, clean, defragmented space in order for the program to fully launch.
Have you manually gone to Windows Update to ensure you have even the non-critical updates? Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime from Apple.com?
Are your project files and media on your C drive or on a second or external hard drive?
Does holding down the left side Ctrl+Alt+Shift buttons as you launch the program help?
Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the program?

  • Premiere Elements 9 - Common file types (AVI, JPG, MP3, etc.) not recognized

I just recently upgraded my system to Windows 7 64 bit (with 8 GB of RAM), and loaded the Photoshop/Premiere Elements 9 combo pack. I have run both versions 7 and 8 in the past with only minimal memory issues under Vista 32 bit with 4 GB of RAM, but no issues as far as loading AVI's, jpgs, mp3s, wav, etc file types. With this new version Photoshop Elements appears to work ok, but in Premiere Elements, I can not load any common file types without getting the error "Generic Failure - This type of file is not supported or the required codec is not installed". The other issue is that after I load the media from a given folder on my main drive "C", it's looking for the media in a folder on my "D" drive??? I tried to work this out through customer support, but was unsuccessful. This last time I called, they wanted to charge $24 for the call. I complained to the support person that they had never really solved my issue on previous calls so he suggested using the forum. Has anyone run into these issues?
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the software and have loaded all of the current updates, but I am not able to use Premiere Elements in it's current state. Any help will be appreciated...(note, this is the only application that I am currently having issues with on my upgraded system - all other software - probably 25 plus apps including Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum v 10, which I may have to switch to entirely, appear to be working well).
Thanks in advance for your help!

For the CODEC issue, it could well be that your new OS is lacking some of those on the previous, though that would not explain the JPEG, for instance.
Going back, Windows would automatically install many CODEC's, including all the MS CODEC's. With some versions of Vista, one had to manually download and install a Vista CODEC pack. Now, I have a strong aversion to downloading any non-MS CODEC "packs," and would urge you to think long and hard before doing such.
If you do not have G-Spot, a great, free utility, I'd get it, and see which CODEC's are installed.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - for any error messages that you get with any of the Adobe CODEC's, see this ARTICLE.

  • Will premiere elements process 32kbit audio?

I have captured a video from a mini DV cassette but audio from only one of the stereo tracks appears on my timeline.  My audio monitor tells me that both 12bit, 32kbit tracks are reaching the computer. Has anyone an explanation please?

    Marvin,
Yes you can do what you want with Premiere Elements - but I have noticed that there are people who are very knowledgeable in Photoshop Elemnts who like ProShow Gold for making their slide shows. My understanding it can make both exe (run on a PC slideshows) and DVDs playable on a TV.
For your evaluation between ProShow Gold (by Photodex) versus adding Premiere Elements to your Photoshop Elements, I suspect that "Add some video from my still camera (see above) to improve the show" may be significant - how much video do you have, what format is that video, how much will you edit the video and what other software do you have that can do trimming and simple edits of your video files?
    My suggestion is that
-- you go to http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/ and sign up for its free forums. Within those forums, there is a forum titled "ProShow series software"
-- include in your post as much information as you know about the format of the movie files from your camera. Identify the resolution that you choose for movie recording and what other software you might use for editing the movie/video.

  • Will Premiere Elements 10 projects work in Premiere Elements 11?

I'm asking because i have just made 3 video projects of my baby's first 3 years in Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7. I want to buy a new Windows 8 PC soon. Can i just buy the new Premiere Elements 11 and install that on my new Windows 8 PC and use it to open my projects, or would there be compatibility problems and therfore should i just try and install my normal Premiere Elements 10 on the new Windows 8 PC?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi erocks
I'm Paul and i started this thread.
I thought this information would be helpful for you.
I have bought a brand new Windows 8 PC. It's 64 bit. My previous computer was Windows 7 x32 bit. I have successfully installed Premiere Elements 10 on my new Windows 8 computer (but needed to install the 64 bit version of the program (same serial works)).
All my Premiere Elements 10 projects that were made on the Windows 7 pc open up just fine on the new Windows 8 pc, with no issues what so ever.
I would advise you to install Quicktime too as Premiere Elements needs that to be installed too. Also, i would strongly advise you to install a codec pack too, for the video codecs, or your new computer (& therefore Premiere Elements) could well have problems reading, opening and using certain video file types. If your Windows 8 pc is 64 bit then make sure you install 64 bit video codecs as well as the 32 bit versions. This is because Premiere Elements on a 64 bit system will need to use 64 bit video codecs.
Here's a link for some codec packs. Make sure you install the 32 bit version, and if you are using a 64 bit system then install the 64 bit video codec pack as well (find it at the bottom of the codec web page).
    http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm_
P.s if you installed the extra Premiere Elements content on your old installation then don’t forget to install that too on your new pc. You can download that by logging onto your online adobe account, finding your order, and downloading from there.
Please let me know if that helped, as im quite interested to know the outcome.

  • Will Premiere Elements 9 edit and save changes to avchd losslessly?

    Hi,
I want to buy a new premiere elements to replace my old one (vrsn 3), can I upgrade it still or is it too old?

I came across 'provides native support for avchd'; what does it mean? Does it mean that I can edit and save avchd files with out losing quality?
