Will re-installing Mac OS X 10.5 delete office for Mac?

I recently tried to make a stack of applications. After making this stack, I decided that I did not require it. I then deleted it, and emptied the trash. It was at this point that I realized that I had deleted the applications, not just the stack itself. I came to the realization that these apps were from the operating system, and not the ilife suite. I have office for mac, Home and Student edition 2008, and I am afraid to restore the operating system because I don't know if it will delete the suite of word, excel, powerpoint, and entourage. This would make me use another one of the codes, which am reluctant to do, solely because I do not want to waste them.
If anyone knows of a way to not delete Office for mac when restoring Mac OS X. Thanks!

As was stated, Office doesn't have to be "activated" such as what they require say for the Windows OS. Rather, you just need a valid serial number to install it. Now, you'd have to check wether they ping that info home and update a database and keep track of installs, but I'd say no.
Of all the Mac software I've purchased over the years, I've installed, re-installed, wiped my drive, bought new computers, reinstalled, etc.. only one company ever contacted me and told me I've over my install limit (though I wasn't). It was for Blogo. I had it installed on two machines (which is ok under their terms.. they recently switched to 3) but they locked it so I couldnn't run it, even when not connected to the internet, which seemed overboard. I had to email them then they reset my serial.
Seems that a company would waste resources worrying about installs, especially if their software starts selling well. I've always had this opinion, if I pay for software I should be able to install it on as many machines as I want, BUT only use it on one machine at any given time. I have purchased about 40 different Mac apps in the last 3 years, and although I only have 1 computer now, I would n't hesitate on installing it on both my laptop and desktop, since I only use one version at any time.
Sorry to go off on a rant....

  • MAC Leopard english and french Microsoft Office for MAC

Hi to all of you !
Brand new to this discussion forum...
I have a new iMAC 3.06Ghz that I switched in english (was originally in french). I want to know if I installed Microsoft Office for MAC 2008 in french, will it display automatically in english since the OS is in english ?
I did the same with Adobe Lightroom (bought the french version...) and it displays in english with no problems or issues...
I don't want to open the package if it will diaplay in french because I can't have a refund on the suite...
Thanks in advance for your help !

To get your files remove the hard drive from the dead computer and put it into an external enclosure, connect to either the firewire or usb port of your mac depending on which enclosure you buy and get your files. The dead motherboard should have no ill effect on your files as long as the hard drive still works.
A good source for enclosures is

  • Trying to delete Office for Mac and getting this message: The operation can't be completed because the item "com.microsoft.DocumentConnection.plist" is in use.

I am trying to remove Office for Mac from my Macbook Air. I've deleted the files and moved to Trash, but can not empty Trash. This message continues to display when I attempt to empty Trash and thereby delete all Microsoft plist files...

You can't delete Office simply by throwing the app in the trash.
Here are the instructions for removing it, follow them exactly.

  • I am a new mac owner and want to purchase Office for Mac.  Thought I was told it could be purchased thru the mac store for approx $80 (word, excel, powerpoint).  It is priced at $150 at the mac store.  Any advice?

I am a new mac owner & want to purchase Office for Mac.  Thought I was told I could get it through the mac store for approx. $80 (word, excel, powerpoint).  However, it looks like the cost is actually $150.  Is there a better deal?

Here it is from a trusted vendor of Mac goodies for US$100:
Microsoft Office 2011 Mac: Home/Student Edition. Single User License.
I also see the Mac version offered about every other week at Staples for about the same price.
Understand that the 2011 "Home/Student" edition does not come with a mail client.MS dropped Entourage with the 2011 version.
I am running Office 2008 on a Late 2010  i7 Quad iMac and a Core 2 Duo MBP (both are at OS 10.6.8) and I have no complaints. If you want the Entourage Mail client, you can still get Office 2008 from the vendor I linked.
I wonder if someone quoted the US$80 price thinking of Apple iWorks.

  • Hyperlinks from Office for Mac don't work after I installed OS Mountain Lion

I installed OS Mountain Lion a week ago. Since then hyperlinks have not functioned from e g Word, Excel or Outlook for Mac. I am running MS Office for Mac 2011.
I was earlier using Snow Leopard and did not have any problems with that at all!
Needless to say, this is quite urgent as many emails contain important links, which I am unable to use
    Is this a known bug??

Office 2004 is a PowerPC-only suite and will not run under Mountain Lion. You'll need to upgrade to Office 2008 or Office 2011, or get one of the various programs/suites that can open and save in Office format (Apple's iWork apps, LibreOffice, OpenOffice.org, etc.)
Or you'll have to downgrade back to Mac OS X 10.6.
    Regards.

  • Office for Mac

I recently bought my First Mac, I bought it together with office for mac, now that I have installed office on my mac can a friend use the same disc to install on their mac?

now that I have installed office on my mac can a friend use the same disc to install on their mac?
No, that's called stealing. If your friend wants office, they need to purchase a license for their own copy.

  • Office for Mac 2008 & 2011

I bought my Macbook pro August 2010 along with Office for Mac 2008.
I received Office for Mac 2011 disc last Nov and have installed it.
I now have both Office for Mac 2008 and 2011 on the Mac. How do I uninstall the 2008 version????

In addition, try looking in the Microsoft Office folder in your Applications folder. Some Office 2008 uninstallers are located there.
Office for Mac has said that there is nothing wrong with having both versions on your system. While this would allow you to have both Entourage and Outlook email support, I do not really trust what they have said, as I think it could cause issues down the road.

  • Getting M$ Outlook 2002 into M$ Office for Mac 2008 Entourage

Need to move all email, contacts, and calendar from M$ Windows platform from M$ Outlook to Mac Snow Leopard platform under M$ Office for Mac 2008 Entourage.
    BACKGROUND
OK, I've made this far. I bought my first MacPro in Aug 2008 and my MacBook Pro in Oct 2008 running both on Windows XP Pro under "BootCamp" and slowly playing on the other side with OSX Leopard. In Jun 2009 I bought a new MacBook Pro and running a subordinate Windows XP Pro under Parallels .. BUT .. for the most part have been doing more and more with Snow Leopard and FCP but have yet to move my mail, contacts, and calendar to the new machine while still running Outlook Express for email and Outlook for contacts and calendar respectively. Now it's time to make the final move to Mac but for now I shall go with....
    PLAN & CURRENT STATUS
M$ Office for Mac 2008 and want to run under Mac Snow Leopard. I've installed the software but need to get my material converted over to the new machine. BTW, I would love to try Mail and iCal but this is my move for now and at least it's a Mac app with some of my M$ Windows familiarity to it as Mac up scales iCal or it's replacement and then I'll go there when the time comes but for now this is a major move for me and I'm proud of myself for getting this far so quickly.
Step 1. I have imported all contacts, emails, and calendar from Outlook Express into M$ Outlook 2002 on the old MacBook Pro in Windows and am ready to move everything to the other MacBook Pro (new unibody one Jun 2009) and need the next step(s) from anyone who can help.
    Step 2. ???
Thanks in advance for any who can help in this matter. I want to make the transition quickly so I can sell off last years model MacBook Pro 2.5GHz Core 2 Due 250 with 4Gb RAM.

  • Office for Mac not working

After installing Lion, I can no longer open Office for Mac 2004. Went to Apple store when I inquired, they said to update Windows. But it won't open at all. Whats next?

There are lots of reports of that here, and perhaps the Apple Store meant to say upgrade Office for Mac 2004  to Office 2011. If cost is a factor, perhaps iWork would work for ya. Pages is very good and saves files out in word format that others can open, say on a PC. The reason I recommend this is for the Version features of iWork apps, which writers have wanted for a long time, and now we do!

  • I was going to purchase Office for Mac 2011, including Outlook.  However, I am hearing many problems with this software including the inability to sync Outlook with iPhone and iPad

I currently sync my iPhone and iPad with Outlook on my Windows Desktop, but want to switch and still do this on my new Mac running Lion.  However what I am reading about the nightmares of syncing with Outlook in Office for Mac 2011 is making me think twice about going down this road.  What an awful situation of purchasing a Mac and being potentially stumped by 'Office for Mac 2011'.
I want to continue using Microsoft Office including Outlook for my business applications - but on the Mac.  I like Keynote for presentations, however I also have to create presentations in PowerPoint for some business situations.  So, although I don't ideally want to put Windows onto my Mac, would it be more efficient and less hassle to use Parallels 7, Windows 7 and Office 2010, rather than endure the issues associated with OFM 2011?
If I decide to use Parallels 7 and Windows 7 am I then into using software to protect against virus' and malware?
I wouldn't be asking this question if Office for Mac 2011 (including Outlook) wasn't a problem - sadly from what I'm reading, it is.
    Thank you in anticipation.

I just resolved my Outlook 2010 + iPhone Calendar sync issue today :  if you have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook (like I do), then you'll find that each account has it's own Calendar (a rather pointless feature IMO).  However you probably only use one Calendar like most people, and what has happened is that the mail account which is set as default for Data Files is not the one you are using.  Try this:
Outlook 2010 -->  Account Settings -->  click "Data Files" tab -->  select as default whichever acct. is associted with the Calendar you use.

  • Can i buy a widows office for mac at the store?

can i buy a widows office for mac at the store?

Windows office for Mac is not a product. Microsoft Office for Mac is.
Office Mac Home and Student 2011 - 1PC/1User [Download]
You are running Windows, via Boot Camp, you would buy from Amazon or direct if you need Office for Windows.
If you are running Mac there is Office for Mac 2011, again, try Amazon and other outlets.
Some can get along with Pages and Numbers, though others need the actual Word, Excel etc.
I gave up on OpenOffice and its cousins but those are other options.

  • Why can I not install fonts? Office for Mac will not recognize them?

My wife and I tried many times to install several fonts that we could use in Microsoft Office for Mac. Even though it said they were installed in the Mac, we could not see them in Word. We are new to the Apple products. We are not novice computer users, just novice Mac users. The font book shows them installed. We tried to choose several of the font families to add the fonts to. We could not see them there either. My wife does some foreign correspondence and likes to use pretty script fonts (TTF). Please help if you can.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE
    Billy

    Sorry also not.
I signed in to the App Store (and to itunes store just to make sure) with both my apple ids but i do not have the sub- section 'Hidden Purchases' within 'Itunes in the cloud' section. I guess I do not have hidden purchases then...
More interestingly: I checked the 'Top Charts' section in the AppStore and under category 'Top Free' all the iWork stuff (Numbers, Keynote, pages etc) shows up! But it has a price (e.g. numbers = 2000Yen) underneath... very strange.
Somewhat the app store knows that it should be free for me but the price is not displayed as 'Free'...
    Help please.
