No offense intended, it's just that we see thousands of posts where people have different reasons for trying to use a stolen or lost device.

My home and power button is not responding after I deleted an app from my settings. Can anyone help?

I went to update my iPhone 4 to the new iOS 7 but needed to create some space. After deleting a couple of apps, my home and power buttons now aren't responding.
Has this happened to anyone else before? I've read that a back up and restore might help.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore via iTunes:

You might have to bite the bullet and restore the device if nothing else works. If that doesn't bring it back to life, make an appointment at an Apple Store and let take a look at it.

Tried rebooting phone by pressing the home and power button's while the phone was connected to power, nothing. Try the things in this Apple article (some of the which you may have already done). If none of them work go to an Apple Store if there is one in your area. Or contact Apple via the website for support help. 1. There is no way of knowing. These things happen.
2. The iOS only gets updated when you want it to be.
3. You should always update to the latest iOS your phone will support. Apple do not write the updates to make your experience worse.

Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black. Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in, any ideas?

Looks like the screen is on it's just unresponsive and black obviously. Has anyone had this problem? I was updating via wifi right in front of my router and my computer.

Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department. Her suggestions: change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers. So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue. It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more. Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department. Make them aware of this problem!

My ipod 3g home and power button wont work!

Last night I woke up to find my ipod touch on. IT was probably on for 4-5 hours. I pressed the sleep button but nothing happened. I pressed it over and over but no luck. So I tried press the home and power button on at the same time but nothing happened. Eventually it went to sleep and restarted and the home button worked but not the sleep. I restarted it again and now both of the buttons dont work. I restarted it at least 4 times. Eventually the home but will work but it lags about 40 seconds. During the night my ipod would shut off, shut on, picture, shutt off shut on, picture etc etc. I dont think the buttons are totally busted and I feel like I can fix it. I haven't tried putting it into itunes yet. Someone please help!

HT201210 Ipad 4 rebooted automatically numerous times...froze up...hard restarted using home and power...put itself into restore mode "connect to iTunes"...I did this but I get error '1600' and can't perform restore...i've exhausted all fix options for '1

Hi folks as in the title:
My Ipad 4 froze up and rebooted automatically numerous times.
It then immediately froze up completely and didn't try and reboot itself.
I then hard restarted the device using the home and power buttons simultaneously.
I got the Apple logo and saw my desktop for a moment and then it froze up.
Hard rebooted again only this time I saw "connect to iTunes".
I connected the device to my MBP and iTunes where I was told it was in restore mode.
I followed the on-screen instructions in iTunes to restore the device.
I spent 15minutes downloading the necessary files etc only for the restore to fail through error code '1600'.
I explored this error code in Apple support and followed all Apple's suggestions, and subsequently tried the restore each time.
I have now exhausted all fix options for '1600'...and I can't even get 'connect to iTunes message' on my iPad device now.
Any suggestions would be welcome please?

Unfortunately I don't have another computer with which to try a restore from.
I've tried to reboot the iPad again using the sleep and home buttons (whilst it is unplugged from my MBP) and it remains completely lifeless. I know there is 80% battery life in the device as I had it charging when it malfunctioned.
I've tried recovery mode through iTunes in excess of 15 times now all yielding the same and inevitable result of 'error 1600'.
I think it's time to get to know the team at my local Apple store...

You need to connect to iTunes and restore.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

There is a thread or two about the home button and how to fix it at least temporally. It sounds like some people have found it to be a rather permanent fix. Do search on something like "Home button won't work". It has something to do with putting the charging cable into the phone and applying a little extra pressure upward on the key. Don't take my word for it though look for the thread/s. You said originally that your "Power" button was broken and the thread I have seen is about the Home Button.
