Will resetting my network settings remove the unlock?

I want to reset my network settings in order to get my wifi working, so I want to know what will happen to my unlocked phone once i do so. Will it be locked once again?

How was your iPhone unlocked? If it was unlocked by the wireless
carrier, resetting will not affect the unlock. If it was hacked to unlock
it, a reset may re-lock it.

    Hello dthlah,
Thanks for the question. Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like your Wi-Fi option on an iPhone 4S is greyed out. The following article explains this issue and potential resolution:
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    1. Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
    2. Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings
    3. Ensure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
    4. If your issue is still unresolved, perform a software restore in iTunes.
If you are still unable to turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Hi. Bought recently iphone5 from singapore. but the one who sold us the phone has set restriction. now i cannot download any apps from my itunes. I dont know the restriction code so i think i need to reset my phone. does resetting remove the unlock?

You need to restore it with iTunes or wipe it from the phone itself... Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.  Either of these will create a factory fresh phone, thus removing the restrictions.  Note that ALL user data will be wiped.

Having horrible service with 4GLTE I have had 3G for several weeks (I am not the only person I know having this problem), I have reset my network settings and it did not resolve the issue.  I am also unable to send SMS and text messages without them either failing or not sending at all.  Is there an outage in the Cleveland, Ohio area (zip codes 44129, 44134, 44137) or anything else I can do to resolve this issue?

Not that I'm a Verizon employee, but I have experience in the field. An LTE tower will only extend up to, on a perfect day, with no elevation, 6-7 miles. On a typical day, you will be lucky at four (4) miles. The three ZIP codes you've given are all within about a 12 mile radius. That would mean that 2-3 towers are currently down at the same time, and Verizon would know about it within the hour. Being it's Cleveland, I'm sure they would receive numerous calls regarding an outage of that size.
My point is that if you're having issues in all three ZIP codes, chances are it's a phone issue. If you're handset is simply not receiving LTE, but still receiving 3G, that would signify a SIM card issue. You need to get your SIM card replaced.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My iPad 2 used to connect to my wifi and now will not at all. Prior to it becoming completely nonfunctional I could get it to connect by restarting it. Then that didn't work anymore so I went into general settings  reset all network settings.

Prior to it becoming completely nonfunctional I could just restart it and it would connect properly to the wifi. Then that work around stopped working. Then I went into general settings and reset all network settings and that worked for a while. When that stopped working I let the battery drain completely and then after a full charge it worked again for a while. Now nothing. What should I try next that will hopefully fix this issue more permanently?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • I just downloaded an update and my sophos anti-virus is going beserk.  It will not allow me to remove the threat when I unlock the quarantine manager and I have no idea of what to do

I just downloaded an update and my sophos anti-virus is going beserk.  It will not allow me to remove the threat manually when I unlock the quarantine manager and I have no idea of what to do.

The malware it's finding is probably Windows malware attached to e-mail messages. What are the names of some of those things? Assuming they're not Mac malware, allowing Sophos (or any other anti-virus software) to remove them could cause problems. For example, if they're attached to e-mail, removing them improperly by simply deleting the message file will leave the malware on the e-mail server, and it may very well end up getting re-downloaded when your mail client syncs with the server. It may also corrupt the mailbox.
If you actually ever see a malware name starting with MacOS or OSX (I forget which one Sophos uses), then you will need to worry, and should not assume that the malware can be completely removed by anti-virus software of any kind.

  • I cannot connect my iPhone 4S to my home wifi. When trying to connect it says I have the wrong password, but I can connect my MacBook to the same network with the same password. I have tried to restart my router, reset my network settings, fail!

Hello, I am having some major troubles connecting my iPhone 4S to my home wifi. When I try to connect on my phone, it says I have an incorrect password. That's not possible because I can connect my MacBook to the same network with the same password. I have reset my network settings on my phone, reset my router, called apple support, triple checked I was trying it in correctly, I have no clue what's going on.
The only thing different is I just moved, but I have the same router/phone/internet provider.
I've seen some discussions of router security options being the problem, I have my router connected to : WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES].
    The other options are: WEP , WPA-PSK[TKIP] , WPA2-PSK [AES] , WPA/WPA2 Enterprise.
My troubleshooting and understanding of all this is pretty limited, my applecare service did not help, please can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

If the issue happened after an update, you may want to go into an Apple Store. Be sure to let them know exactly what's wrong with the device.

  • What is the password I need to type in for resetting my network settings?

Hi, I have a problem. Because my phone can't make calls or send a message longer. I don't know why, but I think I can solve the problem bye resetting my network settings, but when I click "reset network settings" it just say type in the code. And I have no clue which code the phone want me to type in. First I thought they were talkin about my pin-code but I was wrong, I have also typed in my apple-ID code but that was wrong to. So if anyone can help me with which code I should type in please do that! And if there is a way to reset your network settings in itunes tell me that too! My phone is a iPhone 4 and I have changed the pin-code once( if that is important). I didn't do anything on my phone before this happened, and my mother has also an iPhone but she has iPhone 4s nothing has happened to her phone.

    Hi there,
You can access Adobe Send through Acrobat.com at https://cloud.acrobat.com/send - your login information should work there just fine. Let me know if you have any trouble!

  • TS1559 If i reset my network settings will all of my passwords be loss?

  • Please confirm that firefox 2.0 will allow custom network settings (IPv4). A moderator (guigs2) response implied this was the case.

Custom network settings are not an option in firefox os 1.3. A moderator (guigs2) stated that it would possibly be supplied in 2.0. I use openDNS to filter my child's internet use which require these settings.
If 2.0 will not have this feature, can I alter the network settings through the host file, and if so how?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Basically, opendns replaces the default dns server provided by the isp. This is done by specifying "address only" for the DHCP. Hopefully the attached image will be more helpful than my description!
The image is of network connection settings in a desktop computer, but android and iphone have similar menus when "modify network" is selected by long pressing the network name in android or by tapping the arrow next to the name on an iphone or ipad. (The image should have the box checked "require IPv4 address...")
OpenDNS sports 50 million users, 2% of all internet requests, and 1/3 of U.S. schools use openDNS for their security. Thank you for your time and effort to help a concerned parent who wants to avoid google and apple products and support the open source community.

  • How can I reset my Network Card to the default?

How can I reset my Network Card to the default?   I suspect I have a virus, (antivirus software has been unable to decect or remove).  What happeneds is that my iMac keeps getting pointed to a proxy.  I remove it and with in a day it returns.  I only have access to a few sites when under the proxy setting.  I want to LOCK DOWN my network settings.  When I manually set everything back to default my machine works like new... but within a day or so it will be back to being jacked up.
2nd question :  Anyone have a sugestion on a good anti virus with my case in mind???  (im using iAntivirus and I think it is useless)
    Dr. N

I'm a bit unclear on what you're seeing, but it's undoubtedly a problem with your network itself. There is no known Mac malware that behaves anything close to what you're describing, so anti-virus software is not going to do you any good. (And you're right that iAntivirus is useless.)
If you're seeing redirects or similar behavior in your web browser, see Eliminating browser redirects and advertisements.
If that's not it, please try to describe in detail the behavior you're seeing.
