Will resizing datafile after shrink segment minimize the rman bkp duration

Hi ,
We have 1 TB database where in the RMAN backup runs for nearly 35 Hrs .
At database level if i shrink the segments to reclaim space and then resize datafile , will it have my RMAN backup duration time to decrease .
Kindly let me know if this can be done .

Unused Block Compression Of Datafile Backups to Backup Sets
When backing up datafiles into backup sets, RMAN does not back up the contents of data blocks that have never been allocated. (In previous releases, this behavior was referred to as NULL compression.)
RMAN also skips other datafile blocks that do not currently contain data, if all of the following conditions apply:
The COMPATIBLE initialization parameter is set to 10.2
There are currently no guaranteed restore points defined for the database
The datafile is locally managed
The datafile is being backed up to a backup set as part of a full backup or a level 0 incremental backup
The backup set is being created on disk.
Skipping unused data blocks where possible enables RMAN to back up datafiles using less space, and can make I/O more efficient.

Cannot resize datafile after defragementation

Hi,
I did a defragmentation in a particular table in prod
create table ......... as select * from ........
drop
create table .......... as select * from ...........
I reclaimed space in tablespace level,but could not in OS level.
I used script checking HWM but cudnt shrink.
It says error as data is there.
Please help

bsac14, if you want to release space from a tablespace datafile back to the OS you need to move all objects allocated near the end of the logical file toward the logical front of the file. The easiest way to do this is most likely to use ALTER TABLE x MOVE and ALTER INDEX x REBUILD to reorganize the objects assigned to the tablespace. Oracle's locally managed space allocation algorithms generally look for space toward the logical front of the file.
Another method is to export the objects, drop them, and then re-create them via the import. If you have tables with columns of data type LONG then resorting to exp/imp may be necessary for those tables.
Be sure to leave adequate room for object expansion after repacking the tablespace. There is not much point in shrinking data files that will soon need to re-expand.

I was trying to erase all my data off my iPod 5th Gen, after I start the process it all starts well until the very last step (I think) will just not complete the job it's just stuck on the same screen it has been for the last 3 days ind the only thing i can do is hold the power and home button until it either reboots or it turns off when i stop the reboot short. The screen looks like when you updating an apple product and all there is, is the apple symbol and the loading bar. But the loading bar isn't filled at all. What should I do???

Time Machine will not backup after an error creating the backup folder.

I have TM that will not make backups anymore after getting an error trying to create the backup folder. It wasn't able to complete that backup so it will not create new ones.
I also have a huge file in the backup directory:"dateofbackupattempt.inprogress". It is 231 Gb as if it was trying to do a complete backup instead of an incremental one.
Any idea how to fix this?

Assuming you were doing Back Up Now, let's see what your logs show. Use the widget in #A1 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting to display the backup messages from your logs. Locate the backup in question, then copy and post all the messages here.
Also either tell us what's on the Preferences panel, or post a screenshot of it.

Premiere Elements 11 will not open after required restart following the installation

An Adobe support tech assisted me with the installation of Photoshop Elements 11 & Premiere Elements 11 using live chat. Before disconnecting live chat, the tech reminded me to restart my computer before using these two programs. I restarted the computer and Photoshop Elements 11 opens and Premiere Elemenst 11 did not. How can I fix this?

Thanks for helping. I tried going to the link and it offered a few different selections to choose from. I tried them all. The one thing it did do, is had me download the Adobe Support Advisor. This checked for problems which it identifed a few things.
When I click on the underlined link, it took me to a website telling me there was conflict with another adobe program running during the installation. I clicked on the button sending the "package" to adobe for their reference.
I have attempted the whole process over again after going into msconfig and disabling everything in the services tab (with MS items hidden), made sure there was nothing in the startup that was adobe related, and disabled the security. This still had the same outcome - doesn't open up after install.
As directed by the link, I tried to look at the install logs located in :/program files (86)/common files/adobe/installers. This "installers" folder doesn't exist.
Everytime I install this program, it ends telling me the program installed correctly.
Am I following your instructions right? I'm learning as we go.

Finder will not open after having to unplug the system.

I suddenly had no access to the internet and was told to unplug everything and start again. When I did Finder says it cannot be opened and all the photos and files on my desktop have vanished. I get a number next to the finder symbol when I try to open it. I was with "airport' and it seems to have changed. I bought 2 weeks ago the Mac security thing so don't know if that has anything to do with it. I am not very good at all this but I'm not a complete idiot either. It now says I have to do something else to log out. I don't know I am really fed up with this thing. Any ideas?

Linc has suggested you use Disk Utility "Repair Permissions". This is one of the few obscure cases where "Repair Permissions" should be exactly the right solution.
For almost every other routine problem, the Disk Utility function "Repair Disk" is the right choice, and "Repair Permissions" is just a distraction.

FF will not respond after opening a drop down box or filling in any form until I minimize and restore the page. This happens constantly.

Just to get to the page to post this I had to minimize FF 3 times because it doesn't recognize that I am on the page that is loaded. I can move my curser, but cannot click anywhere. When it just showed I misspelled "curser" and I tried to right click the word to correct it, I got the pop up dictionary, went back to try to continue typing and could not. I had to minimize the window, then bring it back up to continue typing. I have already fully uninstalled FF, I have reset back to an older date, I have shut down and taken the battery out. I have tried installing older versions of FF. Also, when I try to use bookmarks or other drop down menus in FF, it's randomly blacked out. I will attempt to show a screen shot if allowed. Does Muse optimize the original file because my images in a slideshow resize after I have used the image more than once.

iif I import a photo into my website and make it a small size then when I create a slideshow and add that photo from my computer it comes in too small every time. It's as though Muze is optimizing the original photo and that is very frustrating. I have to open that photo in Photoshop and save it again to fix it. Very annoying. Will this be fixed?

Muse does not touch the original image, but it does maintain an optimized copy of the original. You can verify by locking the original image file to prevent Muse from touching it.
Muse performs the optimization at export/publish time based on the largest instance of the image in the project. In this case, when you re-import the image, Muse is incorrectly assuming you want the new image at the same size as the first instance that you resized smaller. We'll look at fixing this behavior in the next release, but in the mean time there is a workaround.
Instead of opening the image in Photoshop and re-saving, which changes the modification date of the image and signals Muse to re-import the image, try double-clicking until the image is selected. The selection handles will be smaller and solid if you have the image selected. The handles will be larger and hollow if a container is selected. Then resize the image to the dimensions you want. Initially, the image will be pixelated because Muse is still using the previously optimized copy. However, if you choose File->Preview Page in Browser, the image will be re-optimized for the new dimensions and you should see a higher resolution version in both the browser and on your page within Muse.
You can more easily verify the optimization behavior as follows:
1. Place an image at 25% of its original size.
2. Select File->Preview Page in Browser, which will optimize the image at the 25% size.
3. Duplicate the placed image and resize the duplicate to be twice as big (i.e. 50% of the original). Initially, this duplicate will be blurry after the resize.
4. Select File->Preview Page in Browser, which will re-optimize the image and redraw at the higher resolution.

Dear Sir;
I have deleted more than 50 million records along with table’s partitions for the previous year.
now I'm trying to shrink datafile with more than 10GB free space but still unable to delete due to
ORA-03297: file contains used data beyond requested RESIZE value.
How can we shrink these datafile or otherwise what is the best way to delete huge amount of records and get additional space in HD
