Will Restricted key figure give no applicable data

Hi,
After the query is run it shows no applicable data.
There is applicable data as far as characterstics and filters are concerned.
But the key figures are restircted ones and there is no data matching that restirction.
But shouldnt the query in that case give the output with the char rows which are present and the key figure column as 0.
Kindly provide pointers to the same.
Thanks & Regards,
Rathy

If there is no data that matches the restrictions on the RKFs, then no data will be displayed. The values are not "0" in this case, they don't exist.
Perhaps an example will clarify...
Let's assume there are 3 RKFs restricted by Calendar Month to 01/2007, 02/2007 and 03/2007. If I request data for a date range including these months, then the appropriate data will be displayed. However, if I request data for 07/2007 -> 09/2007, it would not make sense to show "char rows which are present" for those months with "the key figure column as 0".
However, you can essentially get the result you are looking for by turning off all zero suppression and hiding all of the RKFs.
Hope this helps...

Hi,
Calculated key figures consist of formula definitions containing basic key figures, restricted key figures or precalculated key figures.
The key figures that are restricted by one or more characteristic selections can be basic key figures, calculated key figures or key figures that are already restricted.

• Very Very Urgent Issue: Restricted Key Figure does not return any data

Hi all,
Please help me solving this urgent issue.
created customer exit variable on characterstics version and also
other customer exit variable on Value type.
I coded that in variable exit. Problem is when I include these in
restrickted keyfigure My query does not return me any data.
But if I remove from restrickted key firgure and put it as normal
charaterstics I see the variable is getting populated.
Also in RSRT the SQl generated when these are included in RKF is not
correct.
I debugged and know they are getting populated. As when included in RKF
I can also see the values of customer exit variables from information
tab.
I also know that there is data in cube for those restrictions.
I posted one OSS Notes regarding this urgent issue. But got no reply from SAP.

• Complex restricted key figure

Hello, how can I create a complex restricted key figure?
I need a RKF with:
0AMOUNT only when Payer = 1500 and Customer = 9100 and Ship_to = from 431 to 433
All data comes from an infocube. It is just an example, not real data, focused on how to create a restricted KF with the above conditions.
Any response will be appreciated.

Hi,
In Query designer, Rclick on the Keyfigures(left side of window) and choose Restricted Keyfigures,
in the properties window give the technical name and description and save it.
Rclick on the RKF which you created just now, and give edit option, a new window will open,
Drag an d drop the fields like payer, customer in the details of selection tab.
then Rclick on the field say payer, restrict and give the value as 1500, do this for all the fields.
now save and execute the report.
let me know if u need more help.

• Customer Ext Variable is NOT working correctly in the Restricted Key Figure

Hi all,
I have created a variable ZVCBLMTH (Period from 01/1996 to Last Month) with reference to
0CALMONTH and it will be populated through Customer Exit and it works fine.
In the selection for 0CALMONTH, I gave the range as '05/2008' to '08/2008' and this new
variable passed the value of range as '01/1996' to '04/2008' in RSRT.
The properties of the variable are:
Type of Variable - Characteristic, Processing by - Customer Exit, Variable Represents - Interval
and Variable is - Optional.
No change in the result after changing the 'Variable is' from Optional to 'Mandatory'.
This variable is used in Restricted Key Figure to calculate the number of matching records between
01/1996 & 04/2008 and somehow it is not recognizing this variable and NOT passing the results correctly.
But, there are records with 0CALMONTH between 01/1996 & 04/2008.
How could I test that which value is passed into the Restricted Key Figure for this variable, PLEASE ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Venkat.

Hi Clemens Li
I agreed on your point. When we define the Internal table the type for element EQUNR & QUMNR , we are referring the SAP data element for EQUNR, QMNUM field.
Our doubt is even though we refer the standard data element, in the ALV display, it shows with leading zeros and also it creates problems in the filtering and in the filter window all values instead of unique nos.
Hi Abhii
I have given below the fieldcat coding.
Friends, can you kindly clarify the above said problems. Since we use SAP ECC 6.0 any notes or patches apply is required. ( this is the basic functionality in ALV, that is my doubt).
wls_fieldcat-col_pos = wpv_pos.
wls_fieldcat-fieldname = wpv_champ.
wls_fieldcat-tabname = wlc_tabname.
wls_fieldcat-seltext_s = wls_fieldcat-seltext_m
wls_fieldcat-seltext_l = wpv_libelle.
wls_fieldcat-ddictxt = 'L'.
wls_fieldcat-no_out = wv_no_out.
APPEND wls_fieldcat TO gt_fieldcat.
Kind regards,

• Query Designer restricted key figures using a prompt value

Hallo Experts,
I would like to restrict key figures after user has beeen prompted to enter a date. I have 2 key figures:
a) KF1, Date1
b) KF2, Date2
User should be prompted to select a specific date: e.g. 01/2011. After selecting/entering the prompted date value, it should be given to date objects for intance Date1=01/2011 and Date2=01/2011.
How could I achieve it in Query Designer without using customer_exit function? Reason is that non-experienced users will use this report and they should not be confronted with complex query. Do you have any idea?
Many thanks
Mamadu

Hi,
I assume that you need to restrict the value of keyfigures by date based on user input data on variable selection screen.
First create one user input variable on your date field say for eg calday.
Now restrict your KF1 with calday and choose that vairable which you created.
For second KF2 which seems to me need to be restricted with offset of +1 based on the date entered by the user.
So restrict this KF2 with calday and use the same variable with offset of +1
I just misunderstood you ned calmonth or day because in requirement you have given month but you are calling it as date.
If its month then replace calday with calmonth..
Hope it helps.

• Can't change a Restricted Key Figure technical name in QD BEx 7.1.0

A few days ago I created a new Restricted Key Figure in Query Designer and it was autopopulated with a default technical name. So I immediately changed it to 'ZRNPVORDINTFACTPPP_FY'.
Now, today, I realized that the 'F' in the technical name is a typographical error and I need to remove it. I clicked the Restricted Key Figure on the left from within the list and clicked the Change/Display pencil icon in the properties window, but the Technical Name field is still greyed out. Also tried right clicking and selecting Edit, but same problem.
Would removing all instances of where the figure is used in the query and other queries allow me to change it? Could it be a user rights issue?
As always, thanks for the help!

Hi,
After creating a RKF , you cannot change its technical name.
If the RKF has a lot of restrictions and creation of another similar RKF is a big process ,
you can create a copy of the same through transaction RSZC.
In RSZC , give the source and target cube name as the name of the multiprovider on which your query is built,
select restricted keyfigure ,click on execute , in the list which comes after execute find your KF 'ZRNPVORDINTFACTPPP_FY'
and click on transfer/copy option available.Change the technical name as you want and then click on execute. A similar keyfigure with the desired technical name will be created in query designer ,global keyfigures .
Replace the same with your Old keyfigure in report.

• How to build Restricted Key figures in Universe?

Hi All,
I have been trying to find a way to build restricted key figures at BO universe level.
I have gone through the best practices documents and the mdx syntax documents.
Even though building Restricted key figures at universe level is not a recommended approach, we had a requirement to achieve it.
I have tried the below possilbe ways but could succeed only half way.
Please help me and others who has been trying to build the restricted key figures at universe level by guiding us.
Eg: A restricted key figure A1 is based on a basic key figure A, with a restriction on cost element C (detail object, cost element key)
I have built A1 with below syntax and could get correct result in web intelligence report
Select block of A1 measure object in designer
<Expression>@Select(Key figures\A)</Expression>
Where block of A1 measure object in designer
<FILTER KEY="[0COSTELMNT].[LEVEL01].[[20COSTELMNT]].[Value]"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="ABCD/1234567"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
But when I build another restricted key figure A2 out of basic key figure A with restriction on the same cost element key field but a different value like ="ABCD/678910".
Both A1 and A2 give correct results individually when they are dragged in a web intelligence query.
But when both of them are required to be dragged in the same query , no result comes because of the conflicting where clauses,as cost element key can't have both values at same time.
Then I tried building A1 in below ways, as mentioned in the mdx examples document
Trial 1:
Select block of A1 measure object in designer
<Expression>(@Select(Key figures\A),[0COSTELMNT].[LEVEL01].[[20COSTELMNT]].[Value].[ABCD/1234567])</Expression>
Trial 2:
Select block of A1 measure object in designer
<Expression>(@Select(Key figures\A),[0COSTELMNT].[ABCD/1234567])</Expression>
Trial 3:
Select block of A1 measure object in designer
<Expression>([Measures].[D787I2PW5YTGMTKL83RWBH80W],[0COSTELMNT].[ABCD/1234567])</Expression>
All the above expressions parse OK at universe level. Trial 1 gives a database error while running the query.
Trial 2 and Trial 3 nither throw any error nor return any result for A1.
If any one has tried and succeeded in implementing restricted key figures at universe level, please provide us some inputs.
Thank You.
Naresh

Hi,
this seems to be identical to this one:
Re: Condition Object for previous month data on current month input
I would suggest you close one of them as two entries asking the same is not a good idea

• Currency Translation for Restricted Key figure

We are in BI Content 351 and SP6. In the query, I create a restricted key figure for an amount KF, assign a currency translation using a conversion key and target currency, give a technical name and save. Everything is fine. However, when I drag the RKF to query column, the currency translation disappears. Has any one seen this before? Any pointers will be appreciated

Hi Colleen,
Did you first assign the Currency COnversion Key (box on left). Then the Target Currency box will be enabled.

• Building a new Cube Vs Restricted Key figure in Query - Performance issue

Hi,
I have a requirement to create a OPEX restricted key figure in Query. The problem is that the key figure should be restricted to about 30 GL Accounts and almost 300 Cost centers.
I do not know if this might cause performance issue in the query. At the moment, I am thinking of creating a new OPEX cube and load only those 30 GL Accounts, 300 cost centers and Amount. and include OPEX in multiprovider in order to get OPEX
amount in the report.
whats the best solution - creating OPEX restricted key figure or OPEX cube ?
thanks,
Bhat

I think you should go for cube as all the restrcited key figure are calculated at OLAP runtime so it will definitely affect the query performance. There are a lot of costcenter for which you have to restrict it so definitely during the runtime of query it will take a lot of time to fetch tha data from infoprovider. Its better that you create a cube with the restrictions and include it in MP.It will definitely save a lot of time during query execution

• Restricted key figure

HI,
can any body explain me what is the difference between Restricted key Figure and the filter option in BEX reporting.

Hi Ali,
If you want restrict particuler key figure based on characteristic value, that you have to go for restricted key figure.
For example: You have calender year month data from 2005 to 2006.An dyou have also have sales data for the period.
If you want see the say some feb 2005 to may 2006.
than you can use restricted key figure to see the values.
where as Filter will show the values which you have filtered irrespective of key figure (only characteristic value).
just go throw the below description.
Hi,
Restricted key figure:
Use
You can restrict the key figures of an InfoProvider for reuse by selecting one or more characteristics. The key figures that are restricted by one or more characteristic selections can be basic key figures, calculated key figures, or key figures that are already restricted.
Procedure
Defining a new restricted key figure
1. In the InfoProvider screen area, select the Key Figures entry and choose New Restricted Key Figure from the context menu (secondary mouse button).
If a restricted key figure has already been defined for this InfoProvider, you can also select the Restricted Key Figures entry and then choose New Restricted Key Figure from the context menu.
The entry New Restricted Key Figure is inserted and the properties for the restricted key figure are displayed in the Properties screen area.
2. Select the New Restricted Key Figure entry and choose Edit from the context menu (secondary mouse button.
The Change Restricted Key Figure dialog box appears.
You can also call the Change Restricted Key Figure dialog box from the Properties screen area by choosing the Edit pushbutton.
Calculated key figure:
Use
In the Query Designer, you use formulas to recalculate the key figures in an InfoProvider so that you can reuse them. Calculated key figures consist of formula definitions containing basic key figures, restricted key figures or precalculated key figures.
Procedure
Defining a New Calculated Key Figure
1. In the InfoProvider screen area, select the Key Figures entry and from the context menu (secondary mouse button click), choose New Calculated Key Figure.
If a calculated key figure has already been defined for this InfoProvider, you can select the Calculated Key Figures entry and, from the context menu, choose New Calculated Key Figure.
The system adds the New Calculated Key Figure entry. The properties for the calculated key figure are displayed in the Properties screen area.
2. Select the New Calculated Key Figure entry and, from the context menu (secondary mouse button), choose Edit.
The Calculated Key Figure dialog box appears.
You can also call the Change Calculated Key Figure dialog box from the Properties screen area by choosing the Edit pushbutton.
Formula:
Use
You can recalculate the key figures in a structure using a formula. You can include basic key figures, restricted key figures, and calculated key figures in the formula definition.
Procedure
Defining a Formula
1. If the query does not yet have a key figure structure, create a New Structure in the Rows or Columns of the Query Designer by highlighting the row or column directory using the secondary mouse button and selecting New Structure from the context menu.
2. If the structure does not yet contain any key figures, use drag and drop to transfer a (basic) key figure of the InfoProvider into the directory of the new structure.
3. Select the structure directory, and choose New Formula. The New Formula entry is inserted and the properties for the formula are displayed in the Properties screen area.
4. Select the New Formula entry and, from the context menu (secondary mouse button), choose Edit. The Change Formula dialog box appears.
You can also call the Change Formula dialog box from the Properties screen area by choosing the Edit pushbutton.

• Restricted key figure doesn't work when restricted objected used in Structure

Hi Experts,
We've a requirement where user wants to restrict ABC key figure with z object. This z objects also used in structure as well, because of that this restricted key figure is not working.
We understand it can't be used in two structure and user wants to keep this object in structure as well.
Is there a workaround to make it work?
Requirement brief overview:
Say I've restricted key figure gross avail percentage and which is restricted by retail group A and B. This retail group is also used in Structure as well (in row). As said users want to keep retails group in structure and want to restrict only one key figure with two retail group A and B.
But this combination is not working. Please can someone recommend any other way to achieve this requirement.
Thanks,

Hi Yasmine,
Yes, I've reloaded the data again. Also, I've mapped correctly in cube. But still I can't see data.
I've checked customer master data , there is no data for this field.
In transformation I've mapped retail group with the new field as well.
When I tried to activate master data , it's saying it's possible only via attribute change run.
I've realised 0CUSTOMER_ZRETGRP (old field) also used in two aggregates.
Do I need to add this in aggregates?
How to activate master data so data will appear in cube?
Is there any programme to activate via attribute change run?
Thanks

• Restricted Key Figure and : Change Variable in WAD

Hi everybody,
I have a restricted key figure in my query, which is restricting all sales volumes of a product by time variable.
I am using this restricted key figure instead of a real filter on the whole query because I have to view the total volume of this product and the volume in this year.
This works very well, but I have no possibility to change the value of the time variable in the restricted key figure in WAD by a generic navigation block.
How can i do this?
Thanks,
Alex

Hi...
The Web item Generic Navigation Block displays the navigational state of a query view in the Web application in the form of a table. All characteristics and structures in the query view are listed in the table and their filter values are displayed. You can change the navigational status of the query view. You can filter according to single values and remove the filter again.
You want to see the results in tabular form and to be able to navigate
through those results using key figures and characteristics.
1. From the Start menu, open the Web Application Designer and start the Web
Application Wizard
a) Choose Start → Programs → Business Explorer → Web Application
Designer → Tools → Wizard.
Choose Next to skip the start page.
2. Select the Generic Navigation Block item and accept the default settings for
this item.
a) In the Select Web Item dialog box, choose Standard Items → Generic
Navigation Block, then select Next to transfer the item into your Web
template.
3. Assign the query Customers/Sales as a Data Provider
to the Generic Navigation Block web item. After assigning the Data Provider,
accept the default values for the item attributes.
a) Choose Query.
b) The Open Query / View dialog box appears.
From the Roles, select the query for Reporting→ Unit: BEx
Web Application Designer → Lesson: BEx Web Application Wizard →
Exercise → Customers/Sales .
Choose OK. The dialog box closes and you return to the Web application
Wizard. Choose Next to reach the Edit Attributes dialog box. Since you
want to accept the default properties of the item, choose Next.
c) In the Overview dialog box, you see all the items you have selected so far.
Add the Table Web item to your Web template and accept the suggested settings
for this item.
a) In the Overview dialog box, choose Add Item to add an additional item to
your Web template. In the Select Web Item dialog box, select Standard
Item → Table.
Choose Next in order to transfer the item into your Web template.
5. Assign the same Data Provider to this item as you did for the Navigation Block.
Accept all the default settings for this item. Arrange the Web template to have
the Generic Navigation Block before the Table.
a) Both items in the Web template use the same Data Provider. Therefore, you
can use the same entries for this item. Choose Next.
b) Leave the properties of the table item unchanged. Skip over the Edit
Attributes dialog box by choosing Next.
c) Both Web items now appear in the Overview dialog box. Change the
sequence of the two web items so that the Web template starts with the
Generic Navigation Block. Use the up and down arrow icons to move your
web items. Choose Next.
6. Save the Web template.
a) You do not have to make any entries in the Save Web Template dialog box.
Choose Save to save your Web template.
Save the newly-created Web template in your Favorites.
give Description: ..................
give Technical name: ...........
7. Display the Web template in the browser.
a) Choose Display theWeb template in theWeb browser .
8. Exit the Web Application Wizard.
a) Choose Exit. The Wizard window closes and the Web template is opened
in the Web Application Designer where you can make additional edits
as required.

• Can I restrict a restricted key figure on another Key Figure ?

Hi Experts,
I tried to acheive this but was not able to do it.
Can I restrict a restricted key figure on another Key Figure ? I have a restricted key figure named " No of Orders Completed" and I have a key figure " No of Repair Days". I want to only report on the orders which get completed in 5 days.
So I want to restrict " No of orders completed" by key figure "No of repair days" = 5.

Hello
you can create a CKF (If you have RKFs created for No of days and orders completed) or Fomula (if you have selection created for No of days and orders completed) with the following condition.
(No of days <= 5)*No of orders completed + 0
this will give you No of orders completed for all the orders for which no of repair days <= 5.
Do not forget to apply the exception aggregation on the newly create formula. Set exception aggregation as total and reference characteristic as order.
After that creat a condition to hide all the records with 0 in the newly created formula.
I think that should solve your issue.

• Restricted Key figure in Qery

I have a critical problem - many points for a solution :). In my cube (Purchasing data - 0PUR_C01) I have several invoices that correspond to a material. Each invoice has an invoice date and an invoice amount;
Cube contents:
Material A - 2004-01-14 - 1000 USD
Material A - 2004-03-05 - 1500 USD
Material A - 2004-12-20 - 1700 USD
Material B - 2004-03-15 - 100 USD
Material B - 2004-04-17 - 200 USD
Material B - 2004-11-30 - 300 USD
Now, in the report I need to define a restricted (or calculated, or anything) key figure containing the amount from the latest invoice for each material. In the examples above the result would be:
Material A - 1700 USD
Material B - 300 USD
The restricted key figure is later to be used as a base in price development calculations.
How can I solve this, if it’s not possible to solve in the report I’m ready to restructure the flow.

Hi Daniel,
You can achieve it with the Aggregation settings of the Key Figure as follows:
Aggregation: SUM
Exception aggregation: Last value
Agg. referen. char 0CALDAY or whatever temporary characteristic you use in the cube.
You must consider that this setting will affect the KPI aggregation procedure and probably this won't be the expected result in the other queries so you better create a copy of the KPI with this settings and map it with initial KPI in the Update rules of the cube.
Hope it helps,
Andreu
