Will RoboHelp X5 run in Vista?

Can I install and run RoboHelp X5 in Windows Vista, without
any problems?
I saw this tech note, which says RoboHelp 6 is not supported
in Vista - so is RoboHelp X5 also not supported?
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?event=view&id=KC.kb400353&extid=kb400 353&dialogID=40640634&iterationID=1&sessionID=4830e7c9ab0260635277&stateID=0+0+2702905&mod e=simple

Greetings,
The RoboHelp 6 client has some incompatibilities with Windows
Vista. For example, it simply will not launch with User Account
Control (UAC) enabled. These incompatibilities will be addressed in
future releases. I was able to get RH6 to work after jumping
through a few hoops, such as disabling UAC, manually registering
the OCX and DLL files, and modifying the registry. This means that
you can indeed get it functioning in this environment, but you may
come across certain limitations or further incompatibilities.
Here is a TechNote that explains how to get RH6 to launch in
Vista. Please be sure to read the entire document, disclaimers
included, before you work through this document.
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb400360
We strongly suggest that you stay within the minimum system
specifications listed here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/robohelp/productinfo/systemreqs
As for x5 and Vista, it was not tested by the RoboHelp
product team. I can tell you that I was able to get it to launch
and function with the exception of one error message. Keep in mind
that this was not a thorough test at all, so your mileage may vary.
Please note that Adobe Technical support may not be able to
resolve Windows Vista related issues on both x5 and 6. We do
strongly encourage users to report issues that they are seeing in
these environments.
The above mentioned phrase of “not supported” can
be taken multiple ways:
1) Does the client function in Windows Vista? Will technical
support be able to assist with this environment?
2) Does it generate help content designed for Windows Vista?
Yes, you can get RoboHelp x5 or 6 to work in Vista. You may
end up facing an incompatibility in these environments that
Technical Support may not be able to resolve.
As for RoboHelp output being used in Windows Vista, please
see Rick’s post above. Ultimately, Microsoft has not yet
released the Vista Help standards to the public yet, so it is not
yet available in RoboHelp.
Thank you,
Bobby Walker

  • Trying my hardest to download lightroom with no luck no matter what i update. Will Lightroom 5 run on Vista?

I currently have Windows Vista. I know its an old system but bare with me. I am trying to download the trial of lightroom to see if its what im looking for as I dont want to spend the money but be let down. Every time i try it says i am running an operation system thats no longer supported by Adobe. These are my computer specs.Windows vista home premium 2007.
    Service Pack 2
    AMD Athlon (tm) 64 X 2 Core processor 4800+ 2.50 Ghz
    Memory (RAM) 2.0GB
    32 bit operating sytem.
Now i dont know if any of that matters, i dont know that much about computers except how to use them. But i really need a decent editing program ASAP, i literally have a matter of days left for editing 50 photo's, so am in desperate need of any advice. I have updated my computer so many times to try meet the requirements. What can I do to fix this??? Any help PLEASE

At the moment yes, I am unable to upgrade for the time being. I managed to download lightroom 4.4 but figured out quickly it doesn't have a lot of the features I need for editing portraits. Do you by any chance know a photoshop equivalent version trial I could download? I am going to buy whichever one works best after trying for a day, but I just don't want to spend the money and be let down really. I need to know which one will work best for what I'm doing. So body reshaping is a huge part of that.

  • Will RoboHelp 7 Run in Windows 7 32-bit?

I've seen several threads clearly state that RoboHelp 7 won't work on a Windows 64-bit machine, but I was wondering if it is possible to run it on a Windows 32-bit PC?

    Hi there
Indeed I had awful luck making RoboHelp 7 work on my own Windows 7 setup. But I'm not sure if it was because it was Windows 7 or if it was because it was Windows 7 64 bit version.
Fortunately Microsoft anticipated that applications may not behave properly in Windows 7 and they made the Windows XP mode virtual PC available for Windows 7 users. UNfortunately it doesn't work with the "Home Premium" version. You have to have Professional or Ultimate installed in order to use it.

  • Will PSE 4.0 run on Vista?

I just bought a new laptop & I really don't want to re-learn the software. Will version 4 run on Vista???
    Thanks,
    Shauna

Some people have had very moderate success, but there are a lot of video problems and the organizer doesn't work well at all. The earliest version of Elements that is officially supported on Vista is PSE 5, with the special patch download.
You won't find 5 or 6 involve a lot of relearning. They just have a lot of new tools in addition to the ones you're used to.

I installed iTunes update on my pc running windows vista and now it will not open. Error message MSVCR80.dll missing???

First try updating to iTunes 11.1.5.5, using an installer downloaded from the Apple website:

Yes, Firefox 6 runs on Vista 32 or Vista 64. Firefox itself is a 32-bit application.

  • Dreamweaver MX 6.01 - will it run under Vista

I use dreamweaver MX vs 6.01. I plan to buy a new computer
    with Vista.
    Questions:
    1. will dreamweaver MX 6.01 run under Vista?? I don't wish to
    upgreade
    2. which Vista would be best.??
    thanks!!!!

Given that version 8 is not classed as being Vista
    compatible, earlier
    versions are unlikely to be.
In terms of which Vista version it all depends upon what you
    want to use the

  • IF I USE PARALLELS TO RUN WINDOWS VISTA - WILL I NEED ANTI=VIRUS SOFTWARE..

.... OR WILL OSX BE OK?

Another option is to install Vista using BootCamp. As it will not be running under OS X, you get the full performance of the MacBook's hardware. Provided you have a decent amount of RAM installed (meaning 1GB if running under BootCamp or 1.5GB - 2GB if running under Parallels), the amount of memory used by a decent antivirus program should not have a significant impact. I typically do not recommend using Norton Antivirus as most Symantec products are very resource hungry and they tend to install far more than is necessary to get the job done.
You may find that it is very convenient to have both a PC and a Mac in one machine... but there is certainly no harm in having a dedicated PC as well.

  • Which version of InDesign will run on Vista as a free trial?

My computer is windows Vista and O can't download the free trial of indesign to edit my documents. Is there another software I could use to edit.

    Moved to InDesign General Discussions.
You can download an older version (CS6 out to run on Vista) fro one of the links at the bottom of this page: Download and Installation Help
This will only work if the files were saved in CS6 or earlier ( and if earlier, it would be best to continue editing in the earlier version).

  • T-500 running Windows Vista - Error trying to install Service Pack 2

I just spent my entire Saturday trying unsuccessfully to install SP2 for Windows Vista on my T-500.  My laptop has Vista Home Premium as the OS and is fully patched with SP1.
The message I get is "Error_not_found (0x80070490)"  when I try to install SP2
I ran SFC /Scannow and got a message that there are corrupt components and a direction to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS that has a huge file I cannot comprehend.
I also ran the "System Update Readiness Tool" prior to trying to install SP2 with no apparent effect.
I have tried various approaches to this such as running System Restore and reapplying everything  with reboots in-between.
I confirmed no spyware and also disabled my antivirus program (NOD) during updates with no effect.
Has anyone else out there had a similar problem who might be able to offer advice?
    Thanks,
    The Hoy

Are you sure you have the proper file downloaded for your system? x86 if you are running 32bit Vista and x64 if 64bit.
Other than that, you might try to use Windows Update. Note that you need to install all updates, possibly including IE8 before Windows Update will offer you SP2.
You might also try installing all updates from Windows Update and then running your stand alone SP2 installer, to see if that solves the problem.

  • Can any one help me with CD/Audio disc playback problem on media center m8200n running Windows Vista

I have HP Media Center m8200n Dest top running WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32 BIT edition. It  has MEDIA CENTER and MEDIA PLAYER. I experience problems with the computer being able to play CD music discs.  What happens is that the Disc will play only for 63 seconds exactly and then stop playing the track, the player will then skip tracks, settle on another one, play it for a few moments and then skip to the end and then play nothing. It gives me an error message that it cannot read the disc.  This happens with any and every standard store bought CD new or used. These CDs also do play on my laptop running basically same operating system.  This happens whether I trying to Play a disc or burn the disc to the hard drive.  The drives work great though as they do play DATA discs all the way through. MP3 discs play fine.  It also plays the DVD movies with no problem. Windows media player doesn't make it work, also installed VLC player and REALPLAYER to try some other players and they also don't work for music, only DVDs. They all only produce 63 seconds of music play back  from a disc. I've already tried Changing ENHANCEMENTS, UPDATING DRIVERS, UNINSTALLING THE DISC DRIVE and then re-installing back into WINDOWS but none of that helped. SYSTEM came with the integrated REALTEK HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO on the mother boad for multi channel playback options and I've downloaded those updated drivers again but that doesn't do anything.  Thinking it might be a hardware drive problem I purchased a new LG BLU-RAY DRIVE/BURNER super multi drive which plays fantastic for any video format from Blu-Ray to regular DVD format with the Power DVD software but the machine is causing even this new drive to have the same problem with the audio and it cuts out playing the audio disc within the same 63 seconds running audio disc. . There seems to be a software glitch and I'm wondering if you can help.  Also the sound card seems to work perfectly fine. I downloaded I-Tunes and copied over audio files to the computer via my flash drive and when I play those files from the hard drive, or even the sample windows media files which reside on the hard drive in MY MUSIC, all files play through perfectly, fully, and with great sound. Audio out jacks in back of computer work fine as also does the front head phone jacks upfront. Something in the software when playing a audio disc/file through the dic drives???? I've got hundreds of CD and it's a bummer not beng able to lay them through the system. Does anyone think moving from VISTA PREMIUM to a upgraded version like ULTIMATE or even going up to Windows 7 might solve problem??? What about the 32 bit verses 64 bit editions??? My system should be able to run in the 64 bit frame work also. THANK YOU in advance!!!

    Hi,
All dimms work individually?  Did you run a bootable memory diagnostic to determine the reliability? Did you run a diagnostic on the hard drive?  I believe that your PC came with PC Doctor and that you can create a bootable diagnostic disk. Did you create that disk?  Be sure to purchase memory dimms from a manufacturer that will stand behind their product with a guarantee such as Crucial, Corsair or Kingston. Buy directly from the manufacturer and they will stand behind the guarantee. Be sure that all of the dimms are identical. Use CPU-Z to determine that the specifications are indeed identical.
You have some options to consider once you can stablize your PC for updating the BIOS.
Locate a hard drive and use the HP external recovery media to build a VISTA system. -- safest method
Use a VISTA repair disk and at the command prompt try executing the HP BIOS update (Admin). -- safe
Try a bootable BIOS update process as suggested at this site. --  less safe but doable

  • IPod will not install on Windows Vista, iTunes is fine?

    Hello,
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on 2 computers. One computer connects to my 60GB iPod video just fine, while the other looks for drivers and then fails to find any. I get a window that pops up saying "Insert the disc that came with your iPod" after Windows searches for drivers. Because of this, the iPod does not appear in iTunes, nor does it appear in My Computer. I have tried performing a soft reset on the iPod (Menu/Center combo) which did not work. I have also tried reinstalling iTunes to no avail. This is a brand new Windows installation and I just can't figure out why it won't work. iTunes seems to work just fine in all other respects.
    Thanks,
    Brian

I found these steps here: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1286482&SiteID=1&pageid=4
Scroll down to the quote from WickedMX.
Basically, C:\Windows\System32\Driverstore\Repository and look for a folder that starts with usbstor. You will probably have two different versions. Open the folder that is the newest version and then copy the files usbstor.inf and usbstor.PNF. Copy them to the C:\Windows\INF folder. Try installing your device(s) again and it should work like a charm!

  • Playing video in iTunes on laptop running Windows Vista

I recently changed my computer. I now have an HP Pavilion running windows Vista (use to have XP). I have a video iPod -30GB. I downloaded iTunes onto the new equipment without incident, but that is the last thing that went smoothly.
I can no longer watch TV shows or movies from iTunes. The video plays like a slide show of stills (the audio is real-time however). Eventually I will get an error message from Windows and it closes the application.
I am also having issues with syncing my iPod and computer. I get a message requiring me to delete all of the content of the iPod and replace it with the contents of iTunes.I haven't done this -no trust and no backup
This message is from iTunes. I suspect it is a security feature to prevent downloading to more than one iPod, as iTunes doesn't seem to 'know' my iPod anymore. Syncing has also caused iTunes to close and my computer to reboot. Has anyone else had these problems?
Any suggestions ... short of throwing the Windows computer out of a window?

  • Can MacBook Pro Run Windows Vista?

    Hi,
Can I run Windows Vista 32/64 bit on MacBook Pro without BootCamp? I saw it use Intel Core 2 Duo as its CPU.

Actually it can (if you put in the Vista disk and clear OSX off the drive, which I wouldn't advise doing), but its not a good idea, because without the bootcamp drivers, you wont able to use the MBPs features, like the backlit keyboard, the built in iSight, the remote, the trackpad with two finger right click, no wireless, no ethernet, no USB or firewire, no 3D acceleration (no GPU drivers) and more. You could try and find out the vender of all those hardware components and download them (that is assuming they have drivers on their websites that will work with the MBP), but that could take a long time.
Why you ask, because the hardware is totally compatible with XP SP2 and Vista. All Intel Macs that shipped after the release of bootcamp last year have the necessary firmware to boot Windows. All bootcamp does is install EFI firmware support for booting between OSX and Windows, add Windows booting to Startup Disk and burn a driver CD/DVD to add functionality of the above mentioned hardware.

  • Will boot camp run windows XP on a Mac book pro retina

Will boot camp run windows XP on a Mac book pro retina

No. The newest Mac OS X version capable of setting up Windows XP or Vista in Boot Camp is 10.6.8, which is too old for that Mac model.
You may be able to use it inside a product such as VirtualBox, Parallels Desktop, or VMware Fusion.
