Will scythe ninja fit in the P35 Platinum

as asked above will a scythe ninja 1100 have clearance issues in the roller coaster board , MSI P35 Platinum?

try to ask the heatsink supplier? they should be able to give you the answer (as they are the one wanting to sell their product)

  • Changing from the 975X PowerUp to the P35 Platinum?

    Hi,
would it be a good move to change from the 975X to the P35 Platinum with the components you see below?
I'm mostly interest in a better performance and a motherboard that's ready for the future.

I would consider one of the upcoming X38 boards if I was you.  Wait until these boards are on the market and watch user reviews and problem reports. The prices should have dropped a little in 2008.
You live in Germany, if I remember correctly, right?  Did you have a chance to notice the X38 Hydrogen-Watercooling board yet?  It will be a limited edition in cooperation with watercool.de:

As far as I know, there will also be a Combo-Version of the Hydrogen-Board.

  • Does GTX 275 fit in MSI P35 Platinum MB ?

My P35 Platinum MB needs a new graphics card, the GTX 275 looks like a nice candidate, but as it is a dual width slot card, I'm afraid it will collide with the rather high protruding north/southbridge chip cooler.
Does anyone know or has experience with this combo ? It seems that because of the length of that card 2 SATA connectors cannot be used anyway ...
Any recommendations maybe for something similarly powerful that might fit ?

Well, I don't have any experience with this combination, but it looks like it will fit and that you will still be able to use all your SATA-ports.
When you look at the card's cooler (I looked at the Lightning), you will see that there's a piece taken out just at the place where the sata-connectors are on the mainboard.
But if you want to be 100% sure, ask your retailer to test it and let them guarentee that it will fit, so you can send the card back if you run into any trouble.

  • SATA connectors on the P35 Platinum board

    P35 Platinum Motherboard
In the BIOS setup, "Standard CMOS Features" section, why is it showing 6 sata drives when the motherboard has only 5 SATA connectors available.
And does anyone how to connect the drives so they appear as sata1 and sata2 drives in this particular section of the BIOS

Quote from: Jack the Newbie on 29-September-07, 04:32:44
The ICH9R-Chipset hosts 4 SATA ports and two eSATA ports (=6 in BIOS).
The Marvell-Chipset provides one additional SATA port and an IDE port (they won't appear in BIOS, because all drives attached to these ports are handled by the Marvell-Controller BIOS.
Thanks for the explanation. I have not been diligent enough, in other words lazy to read the manual.

Why does it matter to you?
I just thought it will make a difference. And besides I was just used to see it in my old PC (BIOS) where the drives are listed from top to bottom, the "not detected" ones being on the bottom.

  • I recently bought iPhone 4 bumper, but I also think of buying InCase Reflex On-Ear headphones. Will its jack fit through the bumper?

I bought the iPhone 4 Bumper about two days ago, and I tried it with every jack at home I could find. None of them fits through the hole, at least the curved ones. I think of buying an Incase Reflex On-Ear Headphone, but I doubt if the jack will fit. If there are any users, can anyone give some tips?

It is not worth the time and money that will be involved repairing it piece by piece, other parts are going to start to fail due to the water incursion. Water and electricity do not mix and it needs to be completely dry prior to trying to apply power to it.
Do an out-of-warranty replacement instead at your closest Apple Store (make a Genius Bar appointment before you go) for $149 USD.

  • Will Ipad 2 fit in the 3rd gen cases

I bought a 3rd generation case (targus slim case) and can't find anywhere on the web if it will fit my ipad 2. Everything I search for is whether or not the ipad 2 case will fit the 3/4 gen.
my question is... Will the ipad 2 fit in the new cases?
I know the sizes are slightly different, but can anyone help me on this.
    Thanks

I should add this: 0.03 inches of depth was added after the iPad 2.  But Apple's cases fit all three.  I think other cases will also.

  • Will this Ninja fit P7N Platinum?

Can someone tell me if this Ninja linked to below would fit socket on the P7N SLI Platinum? Also, any problem with the System 1 fan header and/or ATX 8-pin power connector being blocked by it making them inaccessible after heatsink is installed? I listed two links because not sure if they are the same model since Scythe calls it a revision "B."

works on mine.  you need offset the fan a bit to keep it from hitting the DIMM in the first slot.  can't use DIMM with large heatsinks like ocz reapers.

  • What is the difference between P35 Platinum and P35 Neo2 FIR?

What is the difference between P35 Platinum and P35 Neo2 FIR?
    P35 Platinum
    P35 Neo2 FIR
    BIOS is identical?

The P35 Neo2 is FIR is actually listed as P35 Neo2 FR/FIR. It is what you could call a "modular mainboard".  Even if it has the same PCB as the P35 Platinum mainboard, it doesn't necessarily mean, that it will always come with the same features.
If you look at the mainboard manual you will find that the ICH9R-Chipset and Firewire are mentioned as optional features. That means you will be able to purchase versions of this mainboard that will only have an ICH9 chipset and therefore won't support RAID or that don't have a firewire interface.
The abbreviation F,I and R have the following meaning:
    F...Gigabit LAN
    I... Firewire
    R...RAID
In case you decide to buy the P35 Neo2 mainboard, pay close attention to the feature list. Even if the board is listed as FIR by a specific dealer, make sure it really comes with firewire and an ICH9R-chipset. If someone decides to sell the board with the full name that appears on the MSI Support Site (FR/FIR) he might be actually trying to sell a P35 Neo2-F trying to get a better price.

  • Need Help with Memory OC to 1066 on P35 Platinum Combo

    Hi,
I've been trying to get my Corsair Dominator memory to 1066, but everytime I change settings, the system will not post. So far I've:
    - Disabled EIST & DOT
    - Disabled 'Configure DRAM Timing by SPD' and set values to 5-5-5-15 (left all others as is)
    - Processor reports 333x9
    - Set ratio to 1:1.6.7 bringing adjusted timings to 1109. I also have 1:1.2 for 1332 & 1:1.50 for 999
    - Memory voltage set to 2.1
Not sure where to go from here as other MS reported here seem to have different settings than the P35 Platinum Combo.
    Specs are:
    - Intel E8400 3.0GHz Dual Core (45nm)
    - MSI P35 Platinum Combo
    - Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 512MB GDDR4
    - Xigmatek NRP-MC651 650W Modular PSU
    - Corsair Dominator 4GB 1066 DDR2 RAM (PC2 8500)
    - Samsung 22X DVD Burner
    - Lexa Blackline Case
Any advice welcome -- I'm at a loss.

  • QX6700 on P35 Platinum

    Hi!
When I look at the spec for the P35 Platinum it says that quad-core is supported. However, can someone confirm that the QX6700 B0 does work on that board. It seems like it don´t work... :(
Is it possible to get a BIOS-fix for this?
    Thanks in advance! / Anders

Well, it is not my CPU anymore but here is somekind of hardware list:
    2gb gail 1000mhz 2.4v. 320gb dvd. x1950xtx. Bigwater 745 water cooling. 500w psu.
He will try another CPU tonight.
I cannot post the error message right now but I can post it later tonight I hope. It is something like 'cpu error'...
HOWEVER (!!!!) this issue has happened to me before and that was because the B0 'misses' the CPU-string. Some BIOS do not support that. If someone can confirm the B0 works on this board, then I can continue searching for the reason to this issue.

  • MSI P35 Platinum EEPROM

Hi, I need some information urgently. My friend owns the Asus M4A79 Deluxe motherboard. I'ts about 2 weeks old now, and he tried to mod his BIOS. It failed, because he didn't follow my precise instructions. Now, he has nothing more than a piece of paper, it's dead.
Is there anyone that can tell me where I can find the EEPROM of my MSI P35 Platinum motherboard? Where is the EEPROM located on the MS-7345 motherboard? I know it'll be an 8-pin IC, which is soldered to the board.
My idea is to do a hotflash, i want to desolder my BIOS chip & solder a IC holder to the board, then, use my mobo as an EEPROM Programmer. I don't want to disasemble my whole PC just to find out that the EEPROM is integrated in the chipset, so if possible, can anyone tell me wheter the MSI P35 Platinum has an EEPROM located on the board & where exactly can I find it?

    Quote
I was wondering, isn't it possible to connect his BIOS chip to my motherboard's JSPI1 connector & program it from there?
I highly doubt that.  But even if that was possible, how would you want to establish communication from (let's say) DOS to whatever you connect to the JSPI1 header?
    Quote
but it's not 100% straight forward, I'll have to read up on this.
I am sure, you will figure it out.
    Quote
Also, I'll build the LPT circuit as soon as I have time, but with which tool will I reprogram the chip with?
Oh, you will definately find it, once you do some reading (there are direct links to it in the articles I pointed you to).  However, here is a link to the English Download Site of the Czech Programmer that made it:
    http://www.volny.cz/rayer/programm/programe.htm
Scroll down until you see a tool called SPIPGM in the list.
When I used the an older version of the tool (after building the described SPI Cable) to reprogram the BIOS Chip of my P45 Platinum after a bad flash, the tool did not entirely support the chip yet (Macronix MX25L3205 in my case).  However, it was able to detect it anyway (FlashROM JEDEC ID: EF3016h) and when it does not know its size it will simply prompt you to enter it.
An additional alternativ, which may actually be the fastest way to fix things, would be to simply order a new chip and have it programmed for you with a working BIOS Image.  I don't know where you live and what places there are near you that offer this kind of service.  Over here in Germany, I know at least one place that does this kind of stuff:
    http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bios-fix.de%2Fcatalog%2Fproduct_info.php%3FcPath%3D1_28%26products_id%3D139

I was considering to use an old ATi Graphics Card as an EEPROM Programmer, since it also has an 8-pin EEPROM with the exact same pinout. The hardware is not problem, I can quickly assemble it, but the software would be the problem, ATi's tools wont program an 8-megabit (1 megabyte) BIOS chip?
Another thing, the LAN ROM of the P35 Platinum, that can also be used?
No idea, never tried that nor have I ever thought about it.

Got exactly the same message after upgrading to 1.6 from 1.4 that came with the board.
Unfortunately I'm not even able to boot up to Windows now !
I've switched it off and given up for the night, will try again tomorrow.....

Please forgive me starting this again as a New Topic. I thought most of you wouldn't want to read over an old post.....I hope I was right?
I finally have started the ball rolling with my rebuild, I have follwed recommendations and bought the MSI P35 platinum MBO. I am now looking at a Q6600 Quad processor, I now would like to review the compatibility of my other components. Will my Enermax handle the power reqd, should I go for a new heat-sink/cooler? Will my case need replacing? I am concerned with heating after my Pentium 4 processor which radiated like a stove pipe. I have read the P35 does a great job of cooling main reason I chose it. I also would like to quieten fan noise as much as possible, existing set-up is noisy. I hope I can still draw your interest into my plight....I'd rather slow things down and get it right. Thanks in advance

Mine is an Enermax EG701AX-VE (600W) the fan was noisy and did get a bit rattly in my previous P4N Diamond 7160 + Northwood EE set up and the exhaust air was very warm. Since I upgraded to the P35 Platinum 7345 + Q6600 the fan is now quiet as I can turn it down to minimum and the exhaust air is still cool.
I read the reviews on all the CPU coolers and the best budget one seems to be the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro7. I was looking for a cooler around £40 and after looking at performance tables went for the Thermaltake V1. It also dropped the system temperature (around the circu-pipes) and overall case temperature significantly.
    Here's a link http://forum.thermaltake.com/viewtopic.php?t=2375
    Good luck with your build

    Hi
    I have a msi 915g motherboard , p4 3.4 (550) 1x533mhz ddr2 550psu and an 7600gt.

Will my 533mhz ddr2 work on the P35 Platinum?
    Thanks

The 2900 bits the 8800 gts in allot of benchmarks and its value rocks
    I've found
the 2900 in a Greek eshop for 330 euros and the cheapest 8800 is 280 euros.
50 euros more is nothing compared to the performance difference between the two vga's

  • Which BIOS for Overclocking a P35 Platinum

I bought the P35 Platinum based on the positive reviews of performance and overclocking ability.  Reading through the forums, it's not clear which is the most stable version (other than 1.0) to get to the performance numbers I have seen.  Also, some reviewers mention versions like P03, VP.0B4 (assume a beta, but 1.4?), etc.  What versions are they referring to?
I was thinking of moving to 1.1 or 1.6. I know the "if it ain't broke...", but I want to overclock and don't think the 1.0 BIOS will get the results I am looking for:
    P35 Platinum BIOS 1.0
    Q6600 GO

    8800 GT
    Thermalright 120 Extreme cooling

No, no no it isn't. You need X38 for PCI-E 2.0. But cards don't even use PCI-E 1.1 bandwidth, nevermind doubling that figure...
