Well, yes, a Mac can read an iPod that is formatted for Windows (it doesn't work the other way around). However... unlike the rest of the iPods, the iPod shuffle can only be used on one computer at a time (you can't update it from more than one computer). If you want to switch over completely to using your iPod Shuffle with your Mac, you would have to connect the Shuffle to the Mac and restore it. This will erase everything that's currently on the iPod, but you will be able to use your Shuffle on the Mac. If you would prefer to not do this, you'll have to keep using your Shuffle on a Windows platform.

Apple has no plans updating version 11 to meet the needs of Windows 98 being that #1 - Windows is pushing forward with their Windows 8 operating system launching in a week and iTunes 11 would have needed to be re-written from scratch to accomodate the Windows 7 and Windows 8 systems. It is a known issue that iTunes is bloated and most Windows users will use other media players to manage their music rather than iTunes. #2, Windows 98 is so old that even Windows does not recommend anyone using anything past XP as you are exposing your PC to viruses or anything that no longer can be patched. I highly recommend upgrading to atleast to Windows 7 and this is of course if your PC matches the bare minimum of hardware to use iTunes 10.7 and 11. You are actually doing more harm than good by using an outdated OS.

Now devices will come for windows phone 8.1 .Will this existing system work for 8.1 also? Or is there any changes need to be done?As far as I am aware it will be ok. 8.1 just exposes additional functionality and CSP's available to be manipulated.

It depends on the computer processor, amount of memory etc etc, let along the differences in the implementation of the java virtual machine on different platforms.
I doubt you will find anyone that can give you a straight answer. -

No way. Older versions of PSE were platform specific. You need to upgrade to PSE 11.

Yes, PSE versions 6 through 12 work in 10.9, although PSE 11 is a bit buggy. All other versions are fine, including PSE 12.

Can't Download Safari for Windows from a Mac

iTunes is no problem, but Safari and QuickTime won't let a Mac download the Windows versions. With iTunes, one can click a link to go to the Windows version, but there is no link for Safari or QuickTime. I have a stand-alone Windows XP SP3 computer. Although I don't use it on the Internet, I test web sites locally on it, so I need Safari to ensure compatibility. Does anyone know how to get to the Windows version from a Mac?

I'm not sure you can; it's determined by your op system. Even if you could load Safari for Windows on a Mac, you'd actually have to be running Windows--and if that were the case, I suspect you wouldn't have had to post the question.
