Will software made for the iPad work on an iMac?

I wanted to purchase the new Madden12' game;  it comes in iPhone/iPad formats.  I was wondering if these applications would work with an iMac or Airbook?
Thanks for taking time to respond

No, sorry. Apps for the Mac run on the Mac OS X while apps for the iPhone or iPad run on the iOS.
Two different operating systems.

  • Can I use the AC adapter made for the iPad with my iPod Video (5th Generation)?

I have a choice of using the original adapter or the newer adapter made for the Ipad. The original is rated at 5 volts @ 1 amp output. The newer (iPad) adapter is rated at 5.1 volts @ 2 amps output. I tried to recharge the battery and it worked, but the recharge time from a dead battery was around 6 hours. The difference of the voltage is neglegible, but the ampere rating shouldn't hurt the iPod as it only draws as much current (amps) as needed. Having said this I thought that the recharge time would be less...apparently not. I just do not want to damage the iPod. The iPad charger does not get as warm as the original while charging.
Any help is most appreciated. Mike (Phillipsburg, Missouri, U.S.A.)

I've been using my iPad charger to charge my iPhone for over a year. I haven't had any issues. But I can't promise you that your experience would be the same.

  • Siri will be available for the ipad 2 in ios 5.1?

siri will be available for the ipad 2 in ios 5.1?

So far it is only available on the iPhone 4S and Apple haven't said that it will be made available on any other devices.

  • Can anyone tell me how they are handling software distribution for the iPad in an enterprise environment?

The new Business Volume Purchase Program is pretty interesting...it can be used to centrally purchase and distribute paid ( not free) items from the AppStore.  We are getting setup to use it.  You can keep an eye on licenses etc.  You can also use a single centralized form of payment.

  • Has a stylus-related implement been made for the iPad 2 yet?

Just wondering if a stylus of sorts has been made for the iPad yet?

There are a number available - just do a search on somewhere like Amazon for 'iPad stylus'. Or you could search this forum for recommendations

  • Software recommendations for the iPad

I just got a new iPad and am looking for recommendations for software that will make it useful at work aand at home.
is there a word processing app that will convert to Word?  is there anything like Excel for the iPad?
    thanks!

    Hello:
Word processing = Pages (Apple's WP application).  It converts Microsoft Word documents automatically
Spreadsheet = Numbers.  Converts Excel spreadsheets automatically.
Go to the App store, you will find those (and many others) there.

  • Is there a virus protection software available for the ipad 2?

IS there any form of virus protection softward available for the ipad 2? Have seen AVG etc for ipad 2 talked about.

It's not strictly correct to say there are no viruses or to be more accurate 'malware' for i-devices as there are
There isn't. Provide links/proof if there are.
If you really are an admin for McAfee then you should know what a virus is, and that there are none for iOS. If there were a virus for iOS it would be all over the news. It is also true to say there is no malware for stock iOS devices. If you've jailbroken your device, then maybe so, but you've purposefully put yourself at risk.
hence the last 2 iOS updates which were patching various vulnerabilities.
Yes, just like any OS, there have been vulnerabilities that, potentially, could be used for malware purposes, but iOS has been available for over 4 years and still not one virus or malware breakout. If you knew anything about the way iOS works, and how apps get approved, installed and run, you would know why a virus is virtually impossible, and even a trojan is very unlikely.
Apple has a policy of never discussing security issues as they like to pretend that their products are totally immune, but they aren't.
Like lots of companies, Apple don't discuss security vulnerabilities BEFORE they are fixed, because that would be irresponsible and make it easier for hackers to exploit. Apple have never pretended their products are totally immune. Use your brain, if Apple thought their products were immune, why would they release regular security updates?
Companies like McAfee make money out of spreading FUD and making people believe they have to fork out lots of money for so-called "protection" that in most cases they don't need and doesn't work for unknown issues anyway. And now they're trying to prey on uninformed Windows users, who after years of being subjected to the real threat of viruses and malware now think they need the same for iOS devices.

  • Why can't one use the apps for the ipad on one's iMac?

how come one cannot actually use the apps that one purchases (or gets for free) on one's desktop computer? For instance, I just paid for and downloaded a few apps for my iPad (using iTunes of course) but my wife has my iPad and she is out-of-town for a few days. Now I gotta wait (to use them & check them out) by waiting for her to get back, .... then i gotta sync it. Bah, ... humbug.

i kinda knew the answer to that already... i am just like a kid at christmas, ... waiting, ... waiting.... waiting until my wife comes home and then i will say, ... "oh, it is so great to see you, i missed you" then give her a hug and a kiss and then say "where's the iPad, dear?".

  • Will the new iWorks for the iPad work on the iPhone, too?

I think that would be cool... Also, is there any chance that the keyboard will work on the iPhone, too? Now that would allow for a bit of super portability that I have not had before.

As I said in my other thread, you do not make sense. If you have full SDK kit (iPhone 3.2 beta) and the developer can see sample code and have a user interface, then they can certainly develop to the spec's of the hardware and the OS. No developer is allowed to compromise the native OS as that is part of a development agreement; however, to utilize and develop for this format, they must, will and do explore all features. This is why many developers blog about what the tool can and cannot do. We are not in a NDA pre-release mode, like the iPhone OS 4.0 is right now. Anyone working on iPhone OS 4.0 cannot talk about that. It has not been released. The only reason why the SDK 3.2 is beta is because the hardware has not yet been released (60 days) and there is a slight chance for revision due to bugs or better or cleaner code in the OS and developers explore the device via their development.
I kindly beg to differ with you. I believe you have a misunderstanding of the SDK released kit. Again, if you could provide the details where a developer can develop for a released product but they are not allowed to test it using the new features, I would love to see it. That would hinder development and possibly cause a business implosion in my opinion.

  • Will Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 work on my iMac with Mountain Lion OS?

Help!  I have downloaded Mountain Lion (10.8.4) on my iMac. Now I can't open or use files that contained labels I made with Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 because Mountain Lion does not support Power PC and Microsoft Excel.  If I purchase and download Office for Mac 2011, will it allow me to continue using these label files?  If not, how can I get a database for my iMac that will enable me to create labels and catalogues?

Thanks, Niel.  I'm glad to know purchasing the Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 will enable me to retrieve and use my "ancient" database label files.  I did try to get OpenOffice, but my computer says "'OpenOffice' can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" and my "security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers."  How can I do this?  I really don't know about the inner workings of my computer!

  • IWeb for the iPad

Does anyone know if our iWeb websites will be optimized for the iPad? Seems like that would be a SMART thing for Apple to do for their loyal iWeb community. Hoping iWeb offers a special slick iPad option.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Since the iPad will be much the same to the iPhone and iTouch the same construction recommendations for the iPhone would apply to the iPad. The only Apple recommendations I'm aware of currently is no flash and use a page width of 980 pixels. And keep it simple to facilitate quick loading (but that would apply for any viewing device).

  • I'm thinking of buying an ipad wifi for my mom who lives in Kenya. Any issues I need to know about? Will the ipad work ok?

I'm thinking of buying an ipad (1) wifi for my mom who lives in Kenya. I understand the charger is universal and will work with an adapter. Any other issues I need to know about? Will the ipad work ok?
She is 68 years old and has vision problems. My thought is that it would be eaiser for her to see than a ipod touch. She would use it for music, maybe reading, some games. I'm not sure she would be adept enough to download many apps, so we'd prbably load it up for her.
    Thanks for any input!

She's going to need to update and at some point restore the iPad which requires a computer.
For vision problems she can enable zoom. Tap Settings / General / Accessibility.
