Will SoundFont Bank Manager work with Audigy SE in Vista x64?

= I have been a LONGtime Creative Labs product user, back to the days of the SB Pro and continuing through SB Li've, and now (with my newer Vista x64 system) I just purchased a SB0570 Audigy SE card because it claimed Vista compatibility. I am a musician and desire to be able to use different SoundFonts.
I am unable to get SoundFont Bank Manager to install. When I first installed the card, I declined to install the Creative MediaSource software (I already have an earlier version of MediaSource working on my computer which I need for my Zen MP3 player, and which does not have MP3 encoding crippled). I have searched the forum and tried various downloads, but it appears that SF Bank Manager is not going to work in Vista x64 with my Audigy SE.
Does ANYONE have this working? If so, how? All the other threads talk about either the X-Fi cards OR Audigy 2 etc OR they say SounFont Bank Manager works in XP only.
I did try Synthfont and it does switch soundfonts successfully so this is not a limitation of the hardware.

A I donwloaded the latest SF Bank Manager for the X-Fi Extreme Music card from the Asia Creative site (SFBM_PCAPP_LB_3_2_00.exe), which should work in Vista x64. It does install, but won't run ("SoundFont Manager initialization failed" error). Any help on that one?Message Edited by Jsouth on 02-08-2009 2:08 [email protected]

  • No rear speaker sound with Audigy 4 and Vista x64

    I recently upgraded to Vista x64. I downloaded the 6.0..24 driver for x64. I also loaded MediaSource for x64. I am using analog 5. surround speakers from Dell. This setup works fine when I boot into XP pro (with the XP drivers), but I only get front, center and Sub in Vista x64. Does anyone have any ideas for this?

    Not sure what to tell you, hopefully someone will be able to help. One curious thing though is that according to my Sound properties in Control Panel SPDIF is working on my Audigy 4,

    unfortunately I don't have anything that uses SPDIF to be able to test it.
    Also have you tried installing the X-Fi drivers yet? Download, extract with Winrar (or whatever you use) and navigate to the Drivers sub-folder and run the Setup.exe there.

  • Soundfont Bank Manager and Windows Vista/Seven (64 bits)

    Hi everyone !
    Well I own a SB Audigy SE, running on Windows 7/Vista in 64 bits architecture. The fact is, when I try to launch the SF Bank Manager, I do have an error message : "SoundFont bank manager initialization failure".
    I tried to run it in various compatibility modes (XP, Vista, etc ), nothing works. The SB audigy SE is SoundFont .x and 2.x compatible, so I don't understand why it does not work.
    Does a version of the SF Bank Manager exist for 64 bits versions of Vista/Seven
    PS : the same kind of problem appears with Vienna SF Editor (latest version) : the software does not find any "SoundFont compatible" device.

    Going on what Daniel has posted here,
    http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?==4440
    I would take it to mean that the SBM only works on XP. Might be worth asking in that thread, and hopefully he can answer you better.

  • Creative SoundFont Bank Manag

    I recently installed SB Li've! 24 bit. According to the information on the installation CD there should also have been something called Creative SoundFont Bank Manager, but either it is desinformation, or there is something wrong with the installation. If I understand things correctly, this is what I need in order to install new soundfonts, so it is quite important. Is it possible to get it somewhere, if it for some reason is excluded from the installation disk (contrary to what is said in the User's Guide). I would ask support, but cannot send a question because they insist on having the product number, which seems to be an efficient way of not having to bother, since no one knows where that can be found (probably inside my computer, if anywhere).

    Thank you,
    that works! I know managed to install the SoundFont Bank Manager. Is it possible to use it in order to load SoundFonts that can be found on the web and use them with Creative Prodikeys? Presently I have two MIDI-devices, or "SoundFonth synths", the original Microsoft and the one that followed with Sound Blaster Li've! Is it possible to add SoundFonths to one of these, and how?

    I can't seem to find my application to use for replacing soundfonts. I did a search on my whole computer for the term "soundfont" and nothing comes up. Is there a third party application I can download for replacing soundfonts?

  • Will the Linksys WRT160N work with windows vista at all?

    Will the Linksys WRT160N work with windows vista at all?
    Some one please clear this up for me, it could be answered in the simplestterms from the English Language of course.
    I've recently purchased the Linksys WRT160N however after purchase "of course"I manage to find reviews stating that the router will not work with the WindowsVista Premium, or windows Vista for that matter.
    E.g.(Comments like These 'which are not my own')----------
    "When I tried it with a new computer running Vista 64, it would install but the Linksys System Advisor would not. After 1 chat and 4 phone calls with support the system will still not run."
     "It is a good product with XP, but if you use Vista 64 good luck. After several hours of working to get it running my patience and options have run out."
     "It has taken almost a week for us to figure out that the Linksys Router, WRT160N from Best Buy does not workwith Vista Premium. I looked on-line to Linksys Website and discovered that the router, WRT160N is notsupported for Vista users. .."
    E.g. (CommentContradicting to what has been said above)------
    "Bought this to replace my outdated Linksys (new Vista laptop) and was blown away. Thisthing practically set itself up. It replaced the wired router and wireless routers I was using, asthe signal strength is awesome. I'm still pulling over 5meg ... "
    So I guess one could see why I am confused, based on the 2 sidedcontradictions pertaining to this router actually working with windows vista ornot.
    So can someone respond (preferable a Vista User) and tell me the truth as of towhat this router can an cannot do in terms of Vista? Thanks

    It should work with vista without any issues if you are running any software on the computers (64 bit) from linksys it may not work but if you will connect that computer with an ethernet to the router it should work fine.

    You didn't mention, which card you have there but I suppose, proper CD can be found from http://badboy.filefront.com/ (you need to install from CD if none will send you the CT-SfBM setup package).
    IIRC, there are also 3rd party SF Bank managers as freeware (just google).

  • Does ThinkVantage Password Manager work with Firefox 3.6. Earlier versions it would not work.

    Last time I installed Firefox it would not load Lenovo ThinkVantage Password Manager as a plug in. Since then I have not used Firefox. I would like to again try Firefox but thought I would ask the question first. Can I use ThinkVantage Password Manager with Firefox 3.6?

    Lenovo have released a patch that will make the ThinkVantage Password Manager work with Firefox 3.6 and higher. You can download it from:

    I've just installed it and it works perfectly now.

  • How Transaction Manager work with Resource Manager, like Connection pool?

    hi,
    I'm using BEA Webloigc8.1 Stateless Session Bean/DAO/Oracle stored proc.
    but I'm not quite clear how Transaction Manager work with Resource Manager, like Connection pool.
    my understanding is that, in a weblogic transaction, a stateless session bean interact with several DAOs, and for each method of DAO a connection is acquired from connection pool. I've heard that the connection will not return to pool until the transaction commits.
    My question is that, does it mean that for a weblogic transaction, multiple connections might be allocated to it? and if multiple connections are allocated, then how many oracle transactions would be started? or multiple connections share the same oracle transaction?
    I didn't feel it make sense to start multiple oracle transactions, cause deadlock might be incurred in a single weblogic transaction.
    any help appreciated!

    any help appreciated!Hi. If you configure your WLS DataSource to use keep a connection for
    the duration of a tx, it will do that, and in any case there can be
    no deadlock however many connections operate for a given XA transaction.
    Here is the best coding form for DAOs or any other user-written code
    for using WebLogic DataSources. This is important for two reasons:
    1 - Thread-safety is maintained as long as the connection is a
    method-level object.
    2 - It is crucial to notify WebLogic that you are done with a connection
    ASAP, by your calling close() on it. We will then put it back in the
    pool, or keep it under the covers for your next request if it's in a
    transaction etc. The pool is optimized for quick get-use-close scenarios.
    public void one_of_my_main_JDBC_Methods()
    Connection con=null; // Must be a method level object for thread-safety
    // It will be closed by the end of the method.
    try {
    con = myDataSource.getConnection(); // Get the connection in the try
    // block, directly from the WebLogic
    // datasource
    // do all the JDBC within this try block. You can pass the
    // connection to subordinate methods, but not to anywhere
    // that thinks it can use the connection later.
    rs.close(); // close any result set asap
    stmt.close(); // then close any statement asap
    // When you're done with JDBC
    con.close(); // close the connection asap
    con = null; // nullify it so the finally knows it's done
    catch (Exception e) {
    // do whatever catch stuff you want. You don't
    // need a catch block if you don't want one...
    finally {
    // It is important to close a JDBC connection ASAP when it's not needed.
    // without fail, and regardless of exit path. Do everything in your
    // finally block in it's own try-catch-ignore so everything is done.
    try { if (con != null) con.close();} catch (Exception ignore){}
    return ret;
    }

  • Soundfont bank manager partly obsured by s

    Is there any way with the Soundfont bank Manager 2.00.06 to change to a different skin from the default, which seems to be incompatible with my screen resolution.
    The bottom part of the Bank dialog is obscured.
    I note that the skin is older than the Bank Manager.
    ...John

    Hello,
    ...right: Soundfont-Bank-Manager and THX-Setup have problems when the screen resolution is set to any other value than the default valaue of 96dpi. My computer's running with a screen resolution of 20dpi and it's impossible to use both mentioned applications.
    Creative Labs, please fix that.
