Will the graphics drivers ever be updated?

So after a long wait, there was finally a graphics driver update for the W540. However, included was only a minor bugfix in the Intel driver - the Nvidia driver is exactly the same. It is still on the ancient 327.68, while the reference drivers are already up to 341.05.
With every release of the reference driver, there are variuos "workstation application compatibility fixes," which may end up fixing Optimus (in)activation of the Nvidia GPU in some programs. Additionally, features such as OpenGL acceleration of remote desktop and OpenGL 4.4 support have been introduced months ago, but they are not yet available on the Lenovo driver.
Will Lenovo ever actually update the Nvidia driver? I remember back when the T/W510 were still relevent they would recieve driver updates almost monthly.
W540: i7-4700mq, K2100m, 8 GB DDR3L, 512 GB SSD
T510: i7-620m, NVS 3100m, 8 GB DDR3, 512 GB SSD

This is something that I would never want to see done automatically. I'm teaching Java programming using Macs and we must settle on a fixed version of Xcode at the start of each academic year or there'll be chaos. For example, we're still running Tiger and Xcode 2.4.1 on our university machines and so I'm still running it on this laptop, because that's what was current in September 2007. The recent upgrade to 2.5 radically changed the Java compilation system and would have completely invalidated my lecture notes and worksheets, as well as confusing the students. Fortunately, this didn't happen with System Update so we weren't forced to upgrade (or keep rejecting upgrades).
Each upgrade of the developer tools is usually a major change, sometimes with severe implications for certain users. It is just not appropriate to use System Update for this.

  • I need help updating the graphic drivers for my laptop.

Recently purchasd a new game and I am having some issues with the graphics. Every post I have read suggests it is an issue between HP and amd. I keep trying and seem to be going backwards. I would love to actually talk to someone from hp but they haven their number very well. I have tried every combination between hp and amd and I am obviously missing something. I dont have much hair left to pull out.

Hi there ,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions.  I read your post on the HP Support Forums and you had mentioned that you are looking for help Updating the Graphics Drivers on your HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 CTO Notebook PC.  I have the actual drivers page for your specific HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 CTO. It has the AMD Graphic Driver on this page. You could also update the drivers a couple other ways.  1. Using the HP Support Assistant2. Going into the Device Manager, Right click on the AMD Graphic and doing an update.  You had also mentioned that you wanted to actually talk to someone from HP. Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.
They will be happy to assist you immediately. Let me know how everything goes.  Have a great day!

  • How do I upgrade the graphic drivers on my macbook??

Hi, I recently downloaded a trial version of a 3D modelling software called solidThinking on my macbook. When I tried to use it, it kept quitting itself. I contacted tech-support and they said I need to upgrade the graphic drivers to osx 10.6.7. Does anyone know how I go about doing this as I don't have much technical knowledge on computers/macs. If it involves buying something new like a disc or whatever, how much will it cost me?? and is it easy to do?
    thanks!

Thanks, do I need to be connected to the internet to upgrade to snow leopard.
No. Though the registration process you can quit if you don't want to be connected while you upgrade, with a simple command-Q.
when i back up the system on my macbook, is using time machine the best way of doing it or is there something else I can use
Time Machine is good, I prefer cloning, which I also describe in the backup FAQ I link to on the upgrade FAQ above. Time Machine is handy if your backup drive is at least twice the size of the original. Cloning you can use a drive the same size.
how long does it take to upgrade?
As long as you have sufficient space, it should take no more than 2 hours for the Apple installation. Other updates may take longer if they need to be made compatible with 10.6.

  • When will the Camera plug-in be updated for the Canon 70D for Elements 9?

When will the Camera plug-in be updated for the Canon 70D for Elements 9

    Hi,
There hasn't been an update for PSE 9 since Sept 2011 so it is unlikely to ever be updated for the 70D.
    Your options are
    1) Upgrade PSE 12 when it comes out (probably soon)
    2) Use the Canon software (DPP) that came with your camera - convert to TIF files and import those into PSE
    3) Download/Install the free Adobe DNG 8.2RC Converter to convert your CR2 files to DNG files - the DNG files can then be processed by PSE 9

  • Will the new 10.6.8 update fix SATA3 issues related with 2011 MacBook Pros?

Will the new 10.6.8 update fix SATA3 issues related with 2011 MacBook Pros?

It is against TOU to speculate on these message board.  Suggest you post your question on the Mac Rumors site.
As I already stated, there is no 10.6.8 update.  If there was, it would be listed in Software Update.

No. iOS 7.0.5 was an upgrade for the iPhone 5C and 5S, only in selected regions.

We don't know what Apple's future plans are until they announce them.

It did not say indeed. Do you always loudly announce your bowel-movements  to the world? I gather no.

    Yes, we all know that.

You can order the iPad 3 you need in the http://store.apple.com/us refurb section.
Nope, it's the Refurbished iPad you can order there. There's no such thing as iPad 3 currently, unless you already own one.  The Refurbished iPad is NOT the same article, as it has an entirely different price.  Cuz it's refurbished. Even if it's not.
It beats me how all those brand new factory-sealed objects became refurbished in an instant. Would've thought it would involve some sort of physical refurbishment process applied.  Must been done by the Higgs Boson. Or the fairies. Or Jesus.  Either case, it's a huge leap in technology - the miraculous mass-refurbishment!

  • Will the Linux GPIB driver be updated to support PCMCIA cards?

Kernel 2.4 appears to fully support PCMCIA. Will the NI Linux GPIB driver be updated in the near future? If not, I am considering the INES GPIB card.

Right now there are no plans to add PCMCIA support to the Linux GPIB driver software, which currently supports AT-GPIB/TNT, PCI-GPIB, and GPIB-ENET/100 products. Adding this support will depend on the scope of demand for it.
The following page contains information on the currently supported products:

Will the HTC Droid DNA get an update to be XLTE capable.

That phone only has a radio for 700 MHz. It's not as simple as a software update. It has to have the proper radio in it. It's like asking if old analog CRT TV can get in digital TV signals.

  • HT2731 will the songs/apps i purchased update owner if i change my apple id?

i want to change my apple id. will the items i purchased in the past reflect this change? I don't want to have to enter my old information to access them.

All content from iTunes is tied to the account that buys/downloads it, so if you update your existing account then you should be ok (you may need to log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in to 'refresh' it).
If you create a new account then those items will remain tied to the old account, so only that old account will be able to re-download it, authorise it on a computer, or download updates to its apps.

  • Will the YouTube app ever come back

Will the YouTube app come back

Probably not, as the license to pre-install it on iOS has expired.
Instead of adding the youtube website to your bookmarks page, you could also go to safari, then to youtube website and select "add to homescreen". That way you can always use the mobile youtube website with only one click on your homescreen - just like an actual youtube application.
    Hope that solved your problem?
