Will the iTunes backup (from iPhone) save the library of music on the phone?

I have about 30Gb of music in iTunes. I spent significant time selecting my favorite Songs/Artists to put on the iPhone 4s, since the phone only has 16Gb of memory. I want to make sure the libary of songs I currently have on the iPhone will be restored to the iPhone in the event that I have to restore from iTunes or iCloud. I regularly backup to both iTunes and iCloud. Thanks!

As far as I'm aware, an iTunes backup of your iPod Touch only backs up things such as Apps, and certain other data. It doesn't backup your music.
So assuming that the backup you're referring to is not a specific and separate backup of your music, then no, you will not be able to use the backup to put your music onto the new iPod.
It's a bit late now, but for the future, you need to keep your music etc. in the iTunes Library - and back that music up, preferably to an external drive.
As for your original issue - the speaker on the Touch not turning off when you insert the headphones, have you tried a reset of the Touch? It's certainly the first thing suggested in the iPod Touch forum.

4 voice memos in iTunes backup from iPhone had ! marks and would not play so I deleted them and although they are still on the iPhone, they will not sync back to iTunes from iPhone.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

  • How can I change the location for the backup from iphone to itunes?

How can I change the location for the backup from iphone to itunes? I want to backup to my external harddisk and not the computer itself. How do I do it?

Moving the iOS device backup location
Open a command prompt by hitting the start button and typing CMD<Enter> in the search box that opens up, or with Start > Run on older Windows.
To move the current backup folder from C: to D: (for example) type in this command and press <Enter>
    Move "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" "D:\Backup"
Where <User> is your Windows user name.
To make iTunes look for the data in the new location type in this command and press <Enter>
    MkLink /J "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" "D:\Backup"
If your preferred drive has a different letter or you already have a folder called "Backup" then edit "D:\Backup" accordingly in both commands.
If you have Windows XP then you'll need a third-party tool such as Junction to link the two locations together instead of the MkLink command. The source folder is C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

There are third party PC/Mac applications which can restore the music on your computer from your iPhone.

Cannot access iTunes Store from iPhone 4. Message says 'Your iTunes password was incorrect. Please try again'. I have tried resetting the password on my macbook. What should I do?

I'm having the same problem as well.  I use keychain access often to remind me of my passwords and was happy (initially) to see one for "iphone backup".  When I entered it I got the same error message:
"The password you entered to unlock your iPhone backup file was incorrect. Please try again."
    Really frustrating.
I searched many ways online, finally I tried "iPhone Backup Unlocker" to help me unlock encrypted backup password efficiently!

  • I tried to sync music from iTunes to my iPhone and when I click on "on this phone" the songs are there, but they are greyed out and have a circle in front of them.  I can not click on those songs and when I eject the phone they are not on the phone.

I tried to sync music from iTunes to my iPhone and when I click on "on this phone" the songs are there, but they are greyed out and have a circle in front of them.  I can not click on those songs, delete or anything and when I eject the phone they are not on the phone.  I tried to re-add the songs and it says it can't add songs because they've already been added.  So HOW can I get the songs to actually ADD to my phone to where I can listen to them?  It's like they're stuck in Sync limbo or something!  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.

  • Will whatsapp be removed from iPhone 4 after the launch of iPhone 6?

Will whatsapp be removed from iPhone 4 after the launch of iPhone 6?

The release of a new product does not necessarily affect existing apps.
It is common for developers to redesign/update their apps when a new version of iOS is released, and this can mean a particular app is no longer compatible with a certain phone if that phone can't run a new enough version of iOS.
When iOS 7 was released, many apps were redesigned for iOS 7 and were only available if you had iOS 7 on your device. This left the iPhone 3GS and older iPhones in the dust, if you will.
The existence of the next iPhone will not necessarily mean existing apps will stop working/be pulled.

Hey ChrisJ4203, thanks for answering buddy , I still have a question.
I have a passcode for my iPhone, but I don't have the application Find my iPhone. Can I retrieve my photos, notes, reminders and all other data in my iPhone, I mean, if I bought another one, and connect it to my computer and go to iTunes then restore backup, cause I backup my iPhone last Oct 10, 2013, will I recover all the details in my iPhone that was stolen? It's like I'm still using my old iPhone's apps but with a new iPhone. Thanks.

I would like to buy an iPhone for my friend in Iceland.  Two questions: will the phone work with complete utility in Iceland, and if so, what should I do to confirgure it while in the USA so that it can have full utility in Iceland?

Bad idea. There are no supported iPhone carriers in Iceland, thus some features may or may not work. Further, there will be no warranty or support for a US purchased iPhone in Iceland...your friend will be on their own. If you still want to go down this road, make sure you purchase an officially unlocked iPhone(GSM model) directly from Apple.

When I take a call on the iphone, iphone stops streaming the music to apple tv until I finished the call.

PS: did ask the same question to apple hotline in germany. Answer: we don´t know... funny

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
As far as I know you can't, which sort of makes sense, it seems logical to pause whatever you are doing while you take a phone call, which after all is the primary function of a phone.

  • My icloud backup from iphone 4 abnormal size. What is using that space?

My icloud backup from iphone 4 uses 2,9GB of data even with all backup of apps are set to off including camera roll. I have tried to delete the backup a few times to no awail as the new backup is as large as before. I have an Ipad that only uses 700mb approx same settings but with most of the apps syncing.
Both the phone and the ipad have some 300apps on them but since we arent syncing the actual apps i guess it doesnt matter.
    Mail sync off
    Contact sync on
    Calendar sync on
    Reminders sync on
    Bookmarks sync on
    Notes sync off
    Photo stream on
    Documents and data off
    Find my iphone on
The above are the same for both phone and ipad and should not be affecting total backup size?
    Best Regards
    Mr.Riwa

Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.
Alternatively, if you delete your existing iCloud back up and start the back up again, the next back up will be the same size as the phone tells you is needed to perform that back up.

  • How can I move my iPad's iTunes backup from one user to another?

Is it possible to move my iPad's iTunes backup from one user to another, so as to change which user the iPad is syncing to without deleting any app data? Currently the iPad is synced to one user on my iMac, and I would like to transfer it so that it will sync with a different user on the same iMac (using iTunes, of course). I'd like to replace content from the old user's iTunes library with my user (eg. music, movies), but I don't want to loose app data in the process if I can avoid it.
I have tried to use the pathway /Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup but my iMac doesn't seem to have a MoblieSync folder. I wouldn't know what to do with the backup anyway though.
Can anyone help me or is this request too complicated, difficult, or impossible? Thanks for your help!

The Apple Document covers this. See the footnotes of my google docs
I've done this, it is easy, but takes time and patience.
On the existing mac with OSX and Configurator:
    ========================================
    - run disk utility and verify your disks are ok, a must
    - make note of the user logged in when using configurator  such as "bob"
    - connect a new or newly reformatted USB formatted for Apple
    - run time machine and backup to the USB
    - Take the mac off the network,
    - Buy a new mac
    - setup the mac with a new logon account like Paul or  "bob2"   do not use BOB !!
    - finish the new purchase setup, get to your desktop
    - now run the migraiton assistant  moving bob from the USB to the new mac
    - reboot, logon as bob, launch configurator and connect just one ipad.  Test

The music on your shuffle will be in the iTunes library it syncs with.
