Will the Mac book Pro 17 or 15 inch handle the game: Civilization 5?
The minimum requirments of this game are:2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 6 GB storage, 256 MB Video RAM. Do both of these Macs exceed all of the minimum requirements for the game?
I use the 13" (you can see my specs down below) and I have no problem in what I do, I ocasionally use some pro apps like Aperture 3 and Modo and it handles it just fine. However if I was you I'd wait on buying a MBP atm cause an update should be just around the corner. There is only limited MBP's in stock in international stores and there saying there not getting anymore in.
There is of course a limit to what this little computer can handle, but I think you should be just fine with this or the higher end 13" if you really want to be sure.

iPhoto is looking for a specific folder/file structure that looks like the standard digital camera folder/file structure - if your phone does not use that then iPhoto willl not know how to access yoru photos

I have been using time machine to back up my Mac Book Pro 3.1 to my Time Capsule. Now the Time machine hangs up on "calculating time remaining".

Time Capsule: 500 GB C 2007
This Time Machine software worked satisfactory until Monday Nov, 10 2014 and I have backups until that time. For several years, the software deleted the oldest back up to save the latest one. This is acceptable to me as I have off site storage that is updated every 3 months. How do I get Time machine working again?I have spent a couple of days trying to respond to Linc Davis. Finally I figured it out . The following is a copy of data from my console from the initiation of a time machine backup until it gets stuck trying to calculate the time remaining. There is no indication that anything starts saving. I copied about 3 minutes of data. This is probably way too much data, but I do not know what is relevant.

I have found that my Mac Book Pro late 2011 15 inch is slower than I expected with certain downloads, or working with iPhoto than expected compared to my previous Windows 7 PC. Would adding RAM be of any value in speeding up the process?

Mac Book Pro fail to properly recognize Apple 23inch HD monitor

I have a brand new mac book pro, 2.4Ghz, 15 inch, 4 gb and so on... I just upgraded to leopard, and everything works fine except that when I try to hook up my external monitor which is an Apple 23 inch HD monitor, the external display flickers every second on and off. Even if I open the lid, both displays flicker on and off.
It goes on forever like this. I don't "think" it's a hardware problem because it worked with tiger and it works at work with a non Apple 22 inch display (that will teach me...).
So it seems to only happens with the Apple 23inch monitor.
Any idea how to troubleshoot that one ?

My Xperia Z2 tablet has been delivered with a docking station DK 39 and a USB charger. Charging - even a little bit slow - works fine. For data transfer from my Mac Book Pro (quite new 13 inch) I connected the Z2 tablet via the docking station DK 39 and USB to my notebook.
The Z2 tablet does not get recognized and even not charged.
Does this generally not work or I do need another cable to connect directly the Z2 tablet to my notebook?DK39 and magnetic connectors on Z2 tablet and Z, Z1 and Z2 smartphones are charge only.

8 gigs in Mac Book Pro late 2008
I have read that the Mac Book Pro late 2008 can now handle 8 gigs of ram, if you have the latest Boom Rom Version (i have the exat on needed). I currently have 4 gigs. My question is, is this some type of HACK, or is 8 gigs really supported by Apple? Can I buy 8 gigs from the Apple Store and have them put it in?
I am really not into HACKS, but 8 gigs would be nice.

Yes, but you'll be paying about four times the going rate. It's easy to install RAM yourself. Just be careful not to touch the gold contacts, or if you do, clean them with rubbing alcohol. Also take care not to cross-thread the screws that hold the bottom cover on when you put them back in. -

IMAC DVD Player does not recognizing dvd movie . I have an IMAC (10.7.4) using DVDPlayer (vers. 5500.26.11) and it will not recognize/play a dvd movie...it thinks it is a blank dvd. The IMAC will play rented dvd movies. The dvd movie plays fine on my Mac Book Pro (10.6.8) on the Pro's DVDPlayer (vers.5.4) abd in my external Sony DVD Player The dvd move was made/burned on a PC. There is nothing wrong with your Dell, it will work fine with any MacbookPro. I have been using Dell displays for over 12 years with many different Mac models. I have two 21" Ultra Sharp displays working side by side to design a Keynote presentation right now.
The issue your having is with the way Keynote takes control of the video output to both displays, it sends the presentation signal to one and the presenter display to the other, this is set up in;
Keynote preferences > Presenter display.
If you want to show a wesite or another app on either display, use application switcher:
press the the command key on the keyboard, then the tab key; a row of applications will show what applications are running, choose which one you want to show. Use command > tab to return to Keynote. -
