Will the MacBook Pro get an exterior appearance facelift in the future?
I was just wondering since Apple has used the Silver Powerbook platform for some time now. Are there any plans in the near future of a different look for the MacBook Pro?
Apple has typically introduced a new fashion statement about every 2.5-3 years. They do keep pace with the latest trends so I'm confident we'll be seeing a new color scheme in the not so distant future. Actually, I thought we were about to see a slightly darker steel-slate finish with the MBP but the graphics on the new Apple splash page turned out to be a bit deceptive. http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/ Hope this is helpful.

I have programmed iCal and Address book to sync via MobileMe. The info I type in iCal on the MacBook Pro get updated on the iPad, but not the other way around. Any hints?

IOS5 on iPad1, iPad2 and iPhone4S all with iCloud on. Lion 10.7.2 installed on my MacBookPro and iCloud set up/on. Any new iCal entry on either iPad or on the iPhone ends up via iCloud on both iPads and iPhone. BUT NOT ON THE MacBookPro. And iCal entry on the MacBookPro does NOT GET SENT to iCloud.com or to either iPad or the iPhone. This is a huge problem for me because I do all my office scheduling on the iPad or iPhone but rely on the MakeBookPro to print out daily client lists. I downloaded Piezo to my iMac about a month ago. Now I can't download it to my laptop even though I have authorized the MacBook Pro in iTunes. When I open the App Store, the Piezo app indicates that I have to pay. How do I download Piezo to my laptop, which I am entitled to do?
I'm running Snow Leopard on my iMac. I have a heap of documents that were created using an old word processor application called Apple Works and it wont work on Lion or Mt Lion. So I'm stuck with Snow leopard for the moment. I guess I can't use the new iPhoto either then...

How do I delete my user ID photo, taken with the camera in the MacBook Pro (when you first buy and set up the computer...). The photo keeps appearing randomly, even after I've changed it to a "better picture". I can't get the change to "stick". Anyone else having trouble with this? Thanks!

My iPhone and iPad mini communicate great with one another, but I can't seem to get my iCal on the MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8) to sync over the cloud. What should I do?
iCloud only comes with OSX 10.7.2 or later, you need to upgrade your OS. Go to the Mac App Store and try downloading OSX Mavericks. The store will only let you download it if your computer meets the required specifications.
If you are told your Mac is not compatible with Mavericks, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU with at least 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7. -
I currently use iCloud on a MacBook Pro. I opened my iBook G4 that hasn't been used in years. I have many email messages that i would like to transfer to the MacBook Pro, but every password I use to access MobileMe is not accepted. Any suggestions on retrieving or transferring the emails?
MobileMe was discontinued around 2 years ago. Anything on the MMe servers are long gone. The MMe passwords are uselsess because MMe is no more.
Unless you created an iCloud account back before MMe was taken off line you won't be able to recover any emails.

Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed, as well as some other aspects of the configuration that may be related to the problem.
Don’t be alarmed by the seeming complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out. Here's a brief summary: In each of two steps, you copy a line of text from this web page into a window in another application. You wait about a minute. Then you paste some other text, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is copy; paste; paste again. That's all there is to it. Details follow.
You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken while booted in “normal” mode. If the system is now running in safe mode and is bootable in normal mode, reboot as usual. If it only boots in safe mode, use that.
Below are instructions to enter UNIX shell commands. They do nothing but produce human-readable output. However, you need to think carefully before running any program at the behest of a stranger on a public message board. If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
The command may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. Wait for the line "Step 1 done" to appear below what you entered. The output of the command will beautomatically copied to the Clipboard. All you have to do is paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-Vagain. Please don't copy anything from the Terminal window. No typing is involved in this step.

This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.

There are two different sections of the screen that get this effect... first off the closest to the right will distort about an inch in... then after some time another inch willl follow. the best way i can describe is a band of moving horizontal lines spreading virtically down the screen about an inch in width, changing in colour.
any help i much appreciated! obiously the mac is out of warranty... is there a 'do it yourself' approach i can take? replacing the lvds cable? just thought id ask first before i start taking things apart!
cheers guys!Whoa, I think I just figured out what the problem is, but it's really wierd.
So, I didn't do anything about it, since it was a little expensive, and just used the laptop with an external screen (which works fine).
For some reason, I tried to use it as a laptop today, and it worked perfectly. I took it downstairs, and after a while it stopped working again, and the screen started doing all those wierd things it did as described in the original post. It was working fine for hours, upstairs.
Then somehow it hit me! The laptop had been upstairs in my computer/storage room (which happens to be freezingly cold atm, since I don't heat that room, let's say it's like max 8°C in here) for a long time, which means the laptop was also pretty cold.
Downstairs, in the living room, it's a lot hotter, about 20°C.
So, it seems to be temperature-related. Now, as crazy as this sounds, I tested it for 10 hours in a row.
I took it upstairs and downstairs at least 5 times. tried plugging in devices, using it with and without power supply, but whatever I did the result was the same:
-Use it upstairs (cold room): It works, I can do whatever I want to it, open and close the laptop as much as I desire, it keeps working as it should.
-Use it downstairs (hot room): It works for a while, even pretty long (as long as you don't close it and open it again). Once you open it downstairs after it has been there for a while, all issues pop up again.
Can someone please explain how this is possible ? -
I have CDs that I want to import onto my new MacBook Pro to my iPhone. I am not use to the new iTunes with the Mountain Lion software. I had an old PowerMac that had the Leopard software and I was able to drag those songs to my iPhone. I can't find that option. When I find the song I want to add to my iPhone, I tried dragging it to the top when it shows that my iPhone is connected with iTunes. Or how do i do this with the Cloud? I am new to that as well. Seems like it just held my purchased songs from iTunes.
iCloud only has content purchased (or free) from iTunes. Ripped music or music from other sources is only on your computer. As the iPhone can only sync with one computer at a time you should copy the iTunes folder from the old computer to the new one. It's in the Music folder on the old one, just copy the entire folder to the Music on the new computer. When you first sync your iPhone content will be replaced by the content of the new computer.
You can optionally enable iTunes Match. This searches the non-iTunes content in iTunes or on your iPhone and finds the original digital version on the Internet if it exists. This then becomes your backup. If you have music that it cannot find it will upload it to your cloud storage, but you may have to pay for the storage if it is over 5 GB total (along with your backup). iTunes content and Match content are not included in the 5 GB free limit.
Usually to fix mail issues just delete the account, reset (reboot) the phone by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears, and adding the email account(s) back. -
The MBP w/ Retina Display is 2.3GHz but the other without Retina Display is 2.6GHz. So I don't know which one would play games absolutely flawlessly. I wont have the screen resolution so high on the games though. So can someone reply and tell me which one I should get and why?
Mac's are generally not 3D gaming computers and laptops especially are not because 3D games require a upgraded video card to take advantage of newer games and more feature rich updates.
Only the Mac Pro can one change the video card, if one can find a upgrade for it.
If you really love 3D gaming, a Windows 7 3D gaming tower is your machine.

3D gaming on a Mac is sort of a second hobby, it's rather short lived as one can't replace the video card once a year, only with a new machine purchase.
Most 3D games are for Windows anyway and Apple almost demands OS X be upgraded to newer verisons annually now, so that sort of throws a monkey wrench into a Mac gaming rig with software upgrades and all. On the other hand Windows 7 is supported for a decade.
Mac's just don't work well with 3D gaming, perhaps a Win 7 tower and a iPad or something. -
Is the Macbook Pro Retina display better than the LED display on the new iMac that is coming out?
I am thinking of either buying the Macbook Pro retina display (15") or waiting for the iMac 27" display. I am mainly focusing on the display, so what is better?

Well there are two or three causes of eyestrain with displays different people seem to have.
1: Small type/UI elements
2: Glossy screens
3: Flicker rate

The higher pixel rate combined with the display set at the higher resolution is going to cause UI and type to be smaller and harder to see. In fact it's advised to set OS X to a lower resolouton so it upscales better to match the pixel of the higher display.
Reports coming in say watching HD 1920 x 1080 trailers on the anti-glare 17" is best as the pixel content matches the display almost fullscreen, where on the MBP-R it's upscaled and thus looks blurry.
HD content makers are NOT going to change all their video cameras to support 2880 x 1800 full screen, so in order to get a clearer image playing HD 1080 content, one will have to do so in a smaller window.

The new MBP-R dispalys are 75% less glossy, but not 100% less glossy like the anti-glare models so this can still cause some people problems. This can be lowered to under 1%, however I'm suspecting to do so would be considered giving up a military advantage to China where Apple gets it products made.

Are SACDs fully compatible with the MacBook Pro?
I'm a huge Tolkien appreciator, and I absolutely love Howard Shore's incredible scores for Peter Jackson's film adaptions of The Lord of the Rings. The Complete Recordings of each film come with a double-sided SACD of the score, which does play in the DVD Player application on my MacBook Pro (late 2011), but I'm not sure if it's actually getting the full sound quality from the SACD. Does anyone know if the MacBook Pro's system takes full advantage of the multiple channels on the SACD?

Today I called a few stores and Apple Authorized Service Provider in my country, Croatia.All they told me, whether from ignorance or do not know why ... Do I have to buy onlyoriginal HDD to Apple because we second HDD my MacBook Pro will not recognize. I do not know what to do. HDD 2.5", 750GB, 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM, 8 or 16 MB of Cash in the IT shop costs around 60 USD, while the Apple service costs 150 USD. Now what to do, buy a SATA III drive 2.5" in the IT shop or twice as expensive as the Apple service.Please help me !!
Has anyone tried to put the MacBook Pro HDD drive that is not branded with the Apple label. And if there were any problems with the disc recognition by the MacBookPro.

Help. I have double checked everything I and my husband can think of. I need to be able to print out my daily agenda and I can only do that from the MacBook Pro. And of course it is the devise that is not getting the updated iCal data. Any suggestions?
Levi G B ... Also found another thread by Davidfromsurfside on 10/14/11 0703A with the same problem. I responded on his thread "I have the same problem. IOS5 on iPad1, iPad2 and iPhone4S all with iCloud on. Lion 10.7.2 installed on my MacBookPro and iCloud set up/on. Any new iCal entry on either iPad or on the iPhone ends up via iCloud on both iPads and iPhone. BUT NOT ON THE MacBookPro. And iCal entry on the MacBookPro does NOT GET SENT to iCloud.com or to either iPad or the iPhone. This is a huge problem for me because I do all my office scheduling on the iPad or iPhone but rely on the MakeBookPro to print out daily client lists. I REALLY need to get this fixed...it is causing major business issues. " No one so far has had a fix.... :(

How can i tell if the macbook pro is of the Highest quality?
This kinda has me worried about where to how to purchase my new macbook.
My simple question is how can i tell if the macbook pro i intend to buy is of the Highest quality? Its easy with phones thanks to IMEI numbers. I doubt an equivalent for notebooks exist, but hey! apple's always got that magic hat and always capable of a supprise. So here i am folks, supprise me.

I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro.
