Will the mini run on a Mac desktop

Just thinking it would be useful to have a second computer that can run thru my Mac desktop if it is possible-and use the screen.

There is a way to use an iMac as a display for a mini:

Your Mac doesn't run iOS now. iOS is for the iPad, iPod touch and iPhone.
What is it you are trying to accomplish?

Help! How can I take out the mini-disc stuck in mac?
I insert it into the mac, but the OS cannot load the disc and the disc cannot be ejected even i pressed the "eject" button.

This happened to a family members macbookpro. A mini-cd inserted, couldn't be mounted or ejected by the drive.
I cut a rectangle from a cereal box about two inches wide and 6 inches long. Abour an inch and half from one end in the middle I cut a notch and bent it down a little.

I then inserted it slowly into the drive notch down and slowly pulled out. I did this few times and caught the mimi-cd and removed it. The drive has worked flawlessly for several years
A few days after this happened I was in BestBuy and an Apple rep was there displaying new Apple products. I asked him about it and he said they have a tool that ***** it out.

  • I just bought a mac mini...can i just connect an ethernet cable to the airport extreme and set up the mini through an existing mac

I just took the mini out of the box and hooked it up to the airport extreme through a direct ethernet cable between the two.  Can i find the mini and set it up through an existing mac that is also hard wired to the network?  Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response.. I don't have a monitor nor a wireless keyboard to use on the mac mini...apple salesguy at bb tells me that I can hook up the mini to the ethernet port of my airport extreme and find the mini using finder on my 27 inch mac.
that my regular mac would see everything on the mini and that i can proceed to set everything on the mini through my regular mac...
I am trying to purchase the server software from the app store and turn the mini into a server..

  • Basics: will snow leopard run on my mac mini

    Hi
    a) how do I find out what software is currently running on my mac?
b)given I've had the mac for around 4 years and not purchased software, it's going to be running a pretty old programme I reckon. What problems am I going to encounter upgrading to snowleopard?
    Many thanks.

    Hello,
The first question is whether or not your Mac Mini has an Intel processor. Do +Apple > About This Mac+ if you need to find out. It will tell you what processor is in your mini. (Snow Leopard can only be installed on Intel based Macs.)

  • Will Mountain Lion run on my mac mini running lion server?

I like the new features of Mountain Lion and I am not utilizing the "server" functions of lion.  Will the new os effect the mini's operation?

Which Mini exactly, some cannot use 10.8?
10.7 was far more steps backwards than forwards, ML/10.8 has a few step forwards from 10.7 & a few backwrds...
Macs that will support OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
As usual, the newer the Mac the better:
              •          MacBook Pro – 13″ from mid 2009 or later, 15″ from late 2007 and newer, 17″ from late 2007 and newer
              •          MacBook Air – late 2008 and newer
              •          iMac – models from mid 2007 and newer
              •          MacBook – 13″ aluminum from 2008, 13″ from 2009 and newer
              •          Mac Mini – early 2009 and newer
              •          Mac Pro – early 2008 models and newer
              •          XServe – early 2009 models and newer
Macs that are NOT expected to support OS X Mountain Lion
Older Macs and those with weaker GPU’s will likely be left behind:
              •          Anything with an Intel GMA 950 or x3100 integrated graphics card
              •          Anything with an ATI Radeon X1600
              •          MacBook models released prior to 2008
              •          Mac Mini released prior to 2007
              •          iMac models released prior to 2007
              •          Original MacBook Air
This list of compatible and incompatible Macs and system requirements are based off of the first OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview and may be subject to change, we will update when we learn more about the specifics. OS X Mountain Lion will be released this summer but presumably long before that we will know precise system requirements and what Macs are and are not supported by the new version of OS X. Stay tuned.

  • Will Captivate 4 run on a Mac using Parallels?

I'm on a Mac system and I really need a tool like Captivate to generate presentations for the web, not so much quizzes and full blown e-learning just yet.... Microsoft has eaten enough time and money of mine, so I've got Parallels already that came with the Mac system. And I wonder if the license will convert to Mac usage when it comes out for the Mac? And does anyone have any guesses as to when that will be?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rich

I use Quicken for Windows to track a very large investment account including private investments, stock trades, interest, etc.   Quicken for Mac doesn't track all the info that I need.  I have Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 on my Mac.    If I install Parallels 9, do I still need to purchase another Microsoft license before installing Quicken?
Since your concern is getting Quicken for Windows to function, you should realize that Parallels creates an environment in which the Windows OS (Win 7, Win 8, etc.) can run on a Mac but doesn't come with Windows built in. So you'd still need a license for the Microsoft OS; the Office for Mac license doesn't apply. And since I don't believe Win 7 is available any longer for purchase, you'd need to deterrnine if Quicken for Windows 2008 can run in Windows 8 by using the link Templeton Peck provided.

  • Will firefox 5 run on a mac pro running snow leopard

I like FF but am concerned whether it will run on my mac pro running snow leopard, since the download information says it is a windows program.

Snow Leopard being Mac OSX 10.6
You need to download the version for Mac, not the .exe which is for Windows.
www.mozilla.com or if you prefer a certain language no given then look at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html and look down the middle which is Mac OSX.

  • Will the MacBook run Worms 3D and Unreal Tournament 2004?

I wish to change my current PowerBook for the new MacBook but for one of the things i use my computer the most besides for high school is to play games and i would like to know if the new MacBook will be able to run smoothly this two games.

You should have no issues with those two titles. There have been people that I've seen/heard of running Doom 3 fairly well on the Macbooks. Early benchmarks ran on the Macbooks weren't too promising, but without being able to provide any more in depth info right now, I can say that you should be fine.
Look into reviews on the Intel GMA 950 graphics chipset in general and you'll see that it's not the best out there, but I've run Unreal2k4 on PC's with graphics cards slower yet and much older then the Intel GMA950 integrated solution in the Macbook.
Obviously if you're looking to do highend/higher detail and resolution gaming then the Macbook is probly not for you. It is a decent jump of a good $1000 or so to the baseline 15" Macbook, but it'd be worth it for better gaming in the long run, aside from the other general advantages.

  • Will the mini iPad Logitech keyboard fit the new retinal display mini iPad?

Will the new mini iPad fit the original mini iPad keyboard cover by Logitech.

There's a fraction of a millimeter between them. So if the case is hard molded plastic, probably not. But if it's a more forgiving case, like  a leather slip in case or the such, you should be ok.

  • Will the WRT160N run my D-link 108mbps pci card at 108?

Just replaced my DI-624 with the WRT160N V 3 today.  I have a wireless D-Link pci card in my pc that has always run at 108mbps.  With the new router, I'm only able to get 54 out of it.  Whenever I make a change in the setting hit shoots to 108 right before the reset but then it's back to 54g.  Is there a way to make the card run at 108 speed with this router.

Changing the N Transmission Rate other than Auto will disable B/G clients. The wireless settings will be in Wireless-N only mode.
That makes the G not work at all.  SuperG isn't going to either.  About had my fill with this router.  Yeah I know  it's an N router and for max speeds I should get an N card, but there's no reason it shouldn't do what I want it to with what I already have.  That is unless G is pegged to only 54mbps no matter what.  Of course I can't seem to find that information.
