Will the new chargers work with my MacBook Pro?

I got my MacBook Pro in December 2007 and yesterday the charger broke. The cord that connects to the magnetic piece ripped off completely.
My question is, will the new chargers apple currently sells work with my late 2007 MacBook Pro?

Yes, see the attached article.  Near the bottom is this quote:
Note: Although the replacement adapter may not have the same connector shape ("T" or "L") or wattage as the original adapter that came with your computer, newer adapters should power and charge your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air just like the adapter that originally came with your computer.

My Imac late 2012 running Yosemite does not recognise my Huawei 3g usb modem. itried to install Java bt still it does not although the same modem works with my MacBook pro . any help please

    Hey there mbarikiwa,
If your iMac still has not recognized the usb modem, I would use the troubleshooting for Yosemite USB issues in the following article:
OS X Yosemite: If a USB device isn’t working
If the device is connected to a USB hub:
Make sure the device and the hub are the same speed. Connect USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices to a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed HUB, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices to a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub, and so on.
If the device doesn’t have a power cord and is plugged into another USB device that doesn’t have a power cord:
Try plugging the device directly into your computer’s USB port  or into a USB device that does have a power cord. You might need to disconnect and reconnect the other device as well, if it has stopped responding.
If you have many devices connected to your Mac:
Disconnect all USB devices except the device you’re testing, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse. Make sure that the device is connected directly to the computer, and that any hubs or extension cables are disconnected. If you can use the device now, the problem may be with one of the other USB devices or hubs you had connected to your computer. Try reconnecting them, one by one, to your computer. When you find the device causing the problem, review its documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
Verify that the device appears in System Information:
Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. In the window that appears, click Overview, then click the System Report button to open System Information.
In the window that appears, see if the USB device is listed below Hardware in the Contents list. If the device appears but does not work, review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
    Restart apps:
Quit and restart any apps that use the device.
    Restart your Mac:
    Choose Apple menu > Restart.
    Check your device’s USB connection
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • Will the iPhone 5 work with my MacBook?

I'm starting to get quite irritated by Apple. Been on hold for 45 minutes to talk to someone, so I'm posting on here.
I would really love to buy the new iPhone 5. I love Apple products and have been an avid supporter since 2007 when I bought my MacBook. My question is, I still own my Macbook. Its 2007 and it DOES have Snow Leopard on it.
Basically, what I'm wondering is, if I get the new iPhone 5 is there ANY way for me to move my music to it and transfer my photos and such. I don't really care if it syncs (as it looks like I don't really have the option to use iCloud...)
Any help or information would be helpful! Thank you,
    Taylor

Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store.  The price is $19.99.
You must have at least a Late 2006 model 2,1 MacBook. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

  • What will the new high end 15" Retina Macbook Pro be like for gaming?

With Nvidia Geforce GT 750M 2GB GDDR5, what kind of performance can I expect? I must stress that this is not my main concern, but I would like to know that in my down time I can enjoy myself and not got worried about frame rates etc.  So what sort of standards for the "average" game will I see? I will be using Windows 7 via bootcamp.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Read some benchmarks in the Internet > http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-750M.90245.0.html They will tell you how games would work with this GPU, but note that this may change depending on your screen resolution, GPU drivers...
In general, you shouldn't have any problem with that GPU to run games in medium-high settings. Be careful with the MacBook temperature, as it may get hot quickly

  • Will regular USB cables work with my macbook pro?

There could be a number of reasons I am having problems, but I have a Line 6 UNX interface that is compatible with Macs.  The software is installed but the mac doesn't seem to recognize the device via the USB port.  Will the USB cable from the Line 6 device work or will i need to purchase a firewire cable?

There could be a number of reasons I am having problems, but I have a Line 6 UNX interface that is compatible with Macs.  The software is installed but the mac doesn't seem to recognize the device via the USB port.  Will the USB cable from the Line 6 device work or will i need to purchase a firewire cable?
Googling "Line 6 UNX" produces no hits, so I have no clue what sort of device you're talking about. To the best of my knowledge, "regular USB cables" are the only USB cables in existence, so if you have such a cable that's known to be in working condition and your device is also in working order, it should be detected by the MBP. Have you tested another USB device (e.g. a flash drive or printer) in the same port on the computer, to make sure the port is active? If it isn't active, try resetting the SMC to bring it back to life:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If the device also has a FireWire port available and you have a FireWire cable, you can certainly try connecting it via FireWire and see what happens. That may be an effective short-term workaround if you have one or more bad USB ports on your computer, but you will certainly want to remedy that situation before long.

  • Will this Wifi-cam work with my Macbook Pro?

It says it is compatible with windows but it also mentions browsers so it could be browser-based... Any idea on this kind of thing?

Contact the manufacturer not the seller. Probably the drivers are for Windows. Browsers have little to do with it.

    YES.
Depending on your video card, if you feel like it, you might want to get a dvi-->HDMI adapter
other than that, you should be okay......

  • Will the Cinema Display work with an older MacBook Air?

My wife has an older MacBook Air (circa late 2009) with one USB 2.0 port and one Mini Display port. Will the Cinema display work with this model Air?

It looks to me like the cinema display is a DVI connection.  If  you have a MiniDisplay port to DVI adapter that connected the MBpro to the display then you have everything you need.  (plus a DVI cable).   The MDP adapter plugs into the Thunderbolt port of the MBair.

  • Will the Intel SSD work with my particular computer

I am considering installing an Intel® - OEM X25-M Mainstream 80GB Internal Serial ATA II Solid State Hard Drive in my MacBook Pro 2.2 ghz Intel Duo Core computer (late 2007 model) and I am wondering if it will be compatible and if anyone has had any experience with installing an SSD in an earlier MacBook Pro. Current hard drive is a Hitachi 160GB 5400 rpm drive with less than 1/4 of capacity used. I tried Google and I have gotten conflicting info. I am wondering if there is any issues with the above mentioned drive with older MacBook pros.

I believe it should work fine.

  • Will the Linksys WRT160N work with windows vista at all?

Will the Linksys WRT160N work with windows vista at all?
Some one please clear this up for me, it could be answered in the simplestterms from the English Language of course.
I've recently purchased the Linksys WRT160N however after purchase "of course"I manage to find reviews stating that the router will not work with the WindowsVista Premium, or windows Vista for that matter.
E.g.(Comments like These 'which are not my own')----------
"When I tried it with a new computer running Vista 64, it would install but the Linksys System Advisor would not. After 1 chat and 4 phone calls with support the system will still not run."
"It is a good product with XP, but if you use Vista 64 good luck. After several hours of working to get it running my patience and options have run out."
"It has taken almost a week for us to figure out that the Linksys Router, WRT160N from Best Buy does not workwith Vista Premium. I looked on-line to Linksys Website and discovered that the router, WRT160N is notsupported for Vista users. .."
E.g. (CommentContradicting to what has been said above)------
"Bought this to replace my outdated Linksys (new Vista laptop) and was blown away. Thisthing practically set itself up. It replaced the wired router and wireless routers I was using, asthe signal strength is awesome. I'm still pulling over 5meg ... "
So I guess one could see why I am confused, based on the 2 sidedcontradictions pertaining to this router actually working with windows vista ornot.
So can someone respond (preferable a Vista User) and tell me the truth as of towhat this router can an cannot do in terms of Vista? Thanks

It should work with vista without any issues if you are running any software on the computers (64 bit) from linksys it may not work but if you will connect that computer with an ethernet to the router it should work fine.

  • Have iTunes version 10 .3 but do not understand cloud in iTunes 11.03 can someone explain it and also how do you find duplicates in new version and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which I have had for 4 years

I have iTunes version 10.03 which I love but my iPad Apple mini has iOS 7 but I don't understand the new iTunes what is the cloud shown next to the music and how can I find duplicates can anyone help me navigate the new iTunes and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which is 4 years old

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
The cloud icons give you access to stream or download any qualifying past purchases that you don't currently have downloaded to the library.
Regarding duplicates, things haven't really changed. Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
Yes, iTunes 11 will support your iPod classic.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

Thanks for the useful feedback, Knucklesmac. I agree. I must have blown something on the logic board -- because I had a faulty old KVM switch that would not switch between computers without some nasty hot-plugging/unplugging the VGA video cables. (wince!). It's like when Dizzy Dean ruined his arm because a line drive hit him in the foot and he readjusted his mechanics around the injury. I take the blame because this has been a great computer, and does not deserve any blame.
If it will help anyone else reading this thread, C2G (née Cables to Go) has some interesting ideas for still getting external video out of this computer:
    -USB-to-VGA
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product/30545
-Convert s-video or composite video signals to high resolution VGA
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40971
The price range is $75-$85, which doesn't make horse sense to me for such an old computer -- which has a lot of life in it anyway, because its own 15" monitor is not chopped liver.
