Will the resource of  'SNIPED, KILLED' sessions be released?

Hi Guys,
I have a couple of questions regard to session status and the limit of session numbers which is set in parameter SESSIONS.
1) these are the Status of the session:
ACTIVE - Session currently executing SQL
INACTIVE
KILLED - Session marked to be killed
CACHED - Session temporarily cached for use by Oracle*XA
SNIPED - Session inactive, waiting on the clientMy question is, are the resource consumed by the sessions which are in 'SNIPED', 'KILLED' released?
what about 'INACTIVE'?
2) there is a parameter called 'SESSIONS' which is used to set the limit of session numbers.
So, my question is, the sessions in which status, will be counted into the total number of sessions, which in turn, will be compared against parameter SESSIONS?
any input will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Yep, couldn`t agree more.
for your link, I definitely read that before posted here and it seems vague about the things that I am asking here.
Here is my question:
first question, are the resource consumed by the sessions which are in 'SNIPED', 'KILLED' released?
what about 'INACTIVE'?the link said 'At this time all oracle resources are released but the shadow processes remains and OS resources are not released'.
So, I get that the oracle resource will be released when the sessions in 'SNIPED' status.
but, what about the 'KILLED' and 'INACTIVE' ones?
You said:
>
Sniped and killed sessions' resources should be cleaned up (eventually).
>
again, very vague.
I want to know if the resources are released when the sessions are marked as 'SNIPED OR KILLED'.
2) there is a parameter called 'SESSIONS' which is used to set the limit of session numbers.
So, my question is, the sessions in which status, will be counted into the total number of sessions, which in turn, will be compared against parameter SESSIONS?I failed to find anything about this one. that`s why i am asking here.
one more question,
what`s the difference between 'INACTIVE' and 'SNIPED'? I can`t tell the difference by reading the doc.
thanks

    Hello, Sony, and almost all manufacturers, rarely  announce new products until just before release, so they can keep selling their present stock .Predicting a release is pure supposition. You could ring Sony, but I predict the reply! It also depends which network/s decide to sell their product, and if they demand any software corrections or enhancements. Thanks

    There has yet to be an official announcement for Australia, the last hints Sony gave suggested July, but alas that didn't happen.

  • When will the File menuitem on OS X be released after having opened and cancelled out of the Import window with Fx 4 beta 12?

    This [http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/4186/screenshot20110226at124.png (Image)File menuitem not released after closing Import window.]
    It has been there since early Firefox 4 betas. With 3.6 and 3.5 of Firefox it happened with the Tools and Bookmarks menuitem, also on Leopard and Snow Leopard the same way like the screenshot above. It happens more often that I would like. I'm not in the File menu at all and yet it's highlighted. I've closed the Firefox window and reopened a new window but the File menu remains active until I actively press it again or any other menu in the Firefox 4 menubar.
    You can try it by choosing the File menu -> Import and then simply close the Import window and return to Firefox 4 for a browsing session. Does the File menuitem remain active? Happens each time now that I figured out the correct trigger that I mentioned with the Import window.

    Hi Rick & Todd
    thanks for testing & responding
    @ Rick - ProRes cannot be fixed with color management. At all. It is a problem that adobe has setting a correct quicktime gamma flag.
    I am color-tight if re-importing encoded file back in to AE or any other adobe app. When exporting to PR or Quicktime in General, something is going terribly wrong.
    @ Todd - This whole thing did not leave me alone and I have figured out what the problem is (aside from the Quicktime issue)
    If AE's Audio Hardware Preferences is set to anything else than built-in audio this problem occurs. Setting it to Built-in Audio all the issues are remedied.
    @ Todd - I have Crash Reporter Enabled.. but AE never crashes ;-)
    @ Todd - I spent the better half of this year beta testing PT 11 for AVID along with another dedicated set of folks... The reason we test so long prior to release is to get rid of all the small issues that should never surface in a commercial software. Of Course you cannot get all of them but such as testing the audio hardware capabilites of AE prior to a major release should have been cought by the beta crew.. If any.
    The quicktime issues are long standing - how about opening contact with Apple ( you are a developer and entitled to Apple Support) and tell them about the problem. And have them help you.
    I mean, you offer Speedgrade which is a fantastic app, PPRO, AE & PS (All great) but what good is greatness if neihter is able to deliver. The quicktime file is being displayed with a .8955 gamma offset (What one would have to offset the quicktime file by) when viewed in any other app than adobe's That is a lot.

  • When will the Pioneer firmware to support Carplay be released? Pioneer is informing customers that the delay comes from Apple.

    Carplay was announced back in March/14. Manufacturers like Pioneer have been selling aftermarket systems with the promise that a firmware to support Carplay would be released "in the Summer of 2014". Summer is gone and no firmware. When contacting Pioneer they say everything is ready on their side and they are waiting on Apple.
    How long do we have to wait for Apple to get their act together? If you can't keep commitments it's better not to announce anything.

    I had asked this question last year and was told by the SAP agent there would be a new version of Crystal Reports released in 2015. Is this still true ? Are I better to wait or should I be looking to migrate to 2013 (currently on 2011) ?

  • Regarding Alter System Kill Session

    Hi Guys,
    I have to do db refresh from the build .For this I have to kill the sessions and drop the users and recreate the users with the latest build.As the application is running and there are some idle sessions, I have to kill the sessions and drop the users for that I am using a code as below
    DECLARE
    v_alt_stmt VARCHAR2(1000) := 'ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION ''';
    v_kill_stmt VARCHAR2(1000);
    CURSOR cur_session IS
    SELECT s.type type,
    s.sid sid,
    s.serial# srl_no,
    s.username user_name,
    s.PROGRAM prog_name
    FROM v$session s JOIN gv$process p ON p.addr = s.paddr and s.type='USER';
    BEGIN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SYSTEM ENABLE RESTRICTED SESSION';
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('The Session has been put in the restricted mode');
    FOR v_cur_ssn IN cur_session
    LOOP
    BEGIN
    v_kill_stmt := v_alt_stmt || v_cur_ssn.sid || ',' || v_cur_ssn.srl_no || '''';
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(v_kill_stmt);
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE v_kill_stmt;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN others THEN
    -- DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('The current sessions sid is ' || v_cur_ssn.sid || ' and the srl no is ' || v_cur_ssn.srl_no || ' can not be killed');
    END;
    END LOOP;
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SYSTEM DISABLE RESTRICTED SESSION';
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('The restricted mode of the system has been removed');
    END;
    But sometimes after killing the sessions there are some os processes are going on,to avoid that I have to use 'ALTER SYSTEM DISCONNECT SESSION ''' and 'MMEDIATE' it is workig fine .
    Can Any one tell me the logical difference between kill sessions and disconnect
    Any information will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Disconnect can be used to disconnect immediately without waiting for any ongoing transactions to complete and recovers all session resousrces.
    Kill rolls back ongoing transactions and partially recovers session resources.
    Kill is simiilar to SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE while disconnect is more like SHUTDOWN ABORT.
    See DISCONNECT SESSION Clause in the SQL Language doc
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_2013.htm
    >
    Use the DISCONNECT SESSION clause to disconnect the current session by destroying the dedicated server process (or virtual circuit if the connection was made by way of a Shared Sever).
    •The IMMEDIATE setting disconnects the session and recovers the entire session state immediately, without waiting for ongoing transactions to complete.
    >
    And KILL SESSION in the same doc next section
    >
    The KILL SESSION clause lets you mark a session as terminated, roll back ongoing transactions, release all session locks, and partially recover session resources.
    IMMEDIATE Specify IMMEDIATE to instruct Oracle Database to roll back ongoing transactions, release all session locks, recover the entire session state, and return control to you immediately.

    Are you sure that somebosy had killed the session? Did you get any error regarding kill session? Is there any other errors you can see in logs?its suspect only....
    >
    How that job was scheduled?...actually we have lot of source systems, from those source system we are getting the data into BI machine, by using BI apps team process data and trigger load jobs @db
    Apps team is having database unix logins aswell as db logins to process their requests.
    Your OS admin can check the history upto some extent? Check if he has auditing enabled at OS level?we are in the process of checking with OS sysadmin.
    upto now we didnt got any clue....apps team successfully re-ran failed job.

  • What determines when the My Timesheet item will display in the Resource Availability Page?

    Can someone point me to where I can get more information on the My Timesheet item that displays in the Details section of the Resource Availability page?  I cannot figure out where this information is coming from or what determines how many My Timesheet
    lines you see.
    In one Project Server environment, I noticed that each user had 3-4 My Timesheet line items in the Resource Availability page.  The period I was looking at spanned 8 weeks and all of those weeks were in the future.  I checked the Manage Timesheets
    page for one of the users that had 4 My Timesheet items in the Resource Availability page.  The user did not have any timesheets created for the 8-week period I was reporting on in the Resource Availability page.  To make matters more confusing,
    some resources only had 3 My Timesheet line items in the Resource Availability page for the same period.  So it seems like something other than active timesheets for the period is dictating how many My Timesheet lines display.  Also curious was the
    fact that ALL of the My Timesheet items for all users in the Resource Availability page (7 or 8 people) showed "0h" for all of the periods displayed.
    I decided to look into this further in a separate Project Server environment, because I didn't have access to the first one at the time.  Both environments were configured to not use single entry mode and used resource plans to calculate allocation.
     In this second environment, I entered hours against an administrative task classified as non-working time for one week and submitted / approved this sheet.  I entered hours against a project task for a second week and submitted / approved this sheet.
     I then used the Resource Availability page and "reported" on a period including those periods (20-week period total).  I didn't see a single My Timesheet item.  Not even any showing the "0h" designation I had seen in the first environment.
    So long story short, I cannot figure out the criteria that dictates when a My Timesheet item displays.  And I also can't figure out the purpose.  If the Resource Availability page is designed to show planned work (either through the planned allocations
    stored in resource plans or planned assignments through project schedules), what is the point of the My Timesheet values?  Wouldn't planned work be captured in the project line items?  If it's for administrative, non-working time only, why would
    the My Timesheet items not show up in the second environment scenario?  Any help / insight would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    After investing a lot of time i found one link which is talking about My Timesheet in resource availability page.
    I believe link providing proper explanation though i would like to test it on my system.

    Hi,
    When you are killing an oracle session which is created by some unix shell script you need to follow some other steps to kill that session.
    When you kill a session using sid and serial# it kills only oracle session but does not frees unix process associated with that session.
    To perform it correctly pls do the following.
    SQL> ;
      1  select s.sid, s.serial#, p.pid, p.spid, p.username
      2  from   v$session s, v$process p
      3  where  s.paddr=p.addr
      4* and    s.username='SCOTT'
    SQL> /
           SID    SERIAL#        PID SPID         USERNAME
           530      32662         40 14258        oracle
           462      47581         49 17344        kuldeep
    $ ptree 17344
