Will the sharpen effect affect 32-bit colors?

It seems the Sharpen effect in Premiere Pro CC is not 32-bit, however based on this http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1012268 , it should not affect the colors. Can we get a confirmation that indeed applying this effect on a 4:2:2 10bit ProRes project will not crush the bit-depth of the colors?

The theory is sound, but we'd probably have to get an Adobe engineer to chime in to know for certain, and that's a pretty rare occurrence.

I really want to know if the case in the iPhones might affect the quality of the photo. Thus, what is the best case that suits best for the iPhone 5s?

no they will not its about how you take photo and sometimes low lighting can also be the problem andd theres really no best case but my oppion is the best cases are the thick rubber cases so it will stick to your pants if your lets say sitting down and the thickness will add protection to falls

  • How will the Cloud effect use of files on Networked drives?

Currently I have LR on my desktop and my laptop. I cannot work on my files via my laptop and have the work show up when I use my PC. I have imported the files to LR from the same location on both of my machines but the file updates are specific to the machine I use. I had tried to move all files to a ntework drive and that doesn't work either. The only way to do it is to unplug the drive from one computer and move it to the next. Will the CC subscription eliminate this un integrated use of LR?

    Hi Steve,
Working with Catalogs is not changing with CC subscription. Lightroom will still be available as a boxed product as well.
The current support for networked catalogs has not changed (not supported due to the many many different network configurations possible).
As far as working on the same catalog between laptop and desktop, you'll want to put your catalog on your external drive along with your images and previews.
More info on that process here
    Hope this helps,

  • Will mountain lion supports a 10 bits color depth?

Just wondering if and when it will, and how much it affects color accuracy in photography comparing to chain that supports a full 10 bits per channel color depth.
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Its a big deal for me sadly, Lion is still somewhat buggy and I fear it always will be, and now 10.8 comes along, I don't want my main machine to be part of the IOS family. For myself its time to move on from Apple. Great machines but I liked OS X being different to IOS, now the line between both is far to blurred and seeing the same thing on every machine almost is not what I personally want, this is not innovation in my mind just assimilation, time to look for something else why my iMac still has some value.
Then please be realistic. The announcement just came out and people are already arguing over the cost or if it will be free. That will be well down the track. Just get on with using either Lion or Snow Leopard, whatever you prefer and worry about ML when it is released!

  • Will the new update affect my mcafee?

Your new update indicates that it will disable my McAfee protection. If this update will disable my McAfee I do not want to download it, however, it continues to come up. How do I cancel the request to up grade? If you are providing a new upgrade it should not interfere with virus protection software. Please advise!!

No, updating to Firefox 5.0 won't affect the McAfee security program, beyond their Site Advisor extension for Firefox.
The Site Advisor extension is blocklisted by Mozilla due to the Site Advisor extension being the #2 cause of crashing the Firefox 5.0 betas. McAfee was notified of the problem long before that extension was added to the blocklist. Now it is up to them to fix it. <br /> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/
I have read that McAfee is working on a re-written version that is projected to be available in the 3rd week of July. By then, Firefox 6.0 will probably be released. I hope they are smart enough to have that extension compatible with 6.0, or they'll be putting their users through unnecessary aggravation all over again.

  • If I get a new battery will the update effect it ?

That is to say, with the update loaded on the laptop, after I insert the new battery will it 'update' whatever it did last time ?
Is there a way of removing the update prior to inserting the new battery ?

    Airsculpture,
The battery update was pushed out to address problems with existing batteries already in use in the consumer market. You only need to browse these forums and will find many useful answers to your question.
Apple has also increased the warranty on your battery form 1 year to 2 years as well. Give Apple Care a call explain to them politely your situation and go from there. Also you can refer to this, it may help as well.

  • Will the scan function of an HP Color LaserJet CM2320nf MFP work with Lion?

I have a Macbook Air connected to a Windows Small Business Server 2003.  I can print on the HP 2320 fine with the Print & Scan utility, however the utility won't recognize the HP as a scanner.  The forums I have read on Apple regarding other HP all in one printers is that they can't scan.  HP's support forum is iffy at best; some locations indicating that a fix is due "late 2011", but sending me in a circular link pattern to find a solution.  I have tried downloading the HP LaserJet AiO/HP Director to no avail, even connecting directly to the printer/scanner via USB.  Downloading the drivers doesn't resolve.
Based on this HP link, I believe that scanning isn't supported.  I am dumbfounded by this.

The product you have seems to be a commercial printer. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!
You may find the Commercial Laserjet board here.

  • 16 bit color in PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS

I get an Error when using some of my tools (example: Healing Brush) in FULL EDIT  that states that "16 bit color not supported .  Convert to 8 bit color?"
Will Photshop 9 work with 16 bit color?  Considering most cameras esp. DSLR's and scanners now use 16 bit color I hope so.

Some features of PSE will work on 16 bit images, other features of PSE will not work on 16 bit images and you have to convert the image to 8 bits. I don't have PSE9, but it is my understanding that if a feature didn't work on 16 bit images in earlier versions, it won't work on 16 bit images in the current version (PSE9).

  • 10-bit color works in LR4 devel module but not in PS CS6

    Dear all,
my setup is a ATI FirePro v4900 connected to two monitors: an Eizo CG276 and an old second monitor. I would like to get the Eizo to display 10-bit colors in PS CS6 under a 64-bit Windows 7.
After setting everything up, I am at a point where Lightroom 4.4 displays the notorious ramp.psd file (see below) without banding in the develop module, hence I assume 10-bit is working there. In Photoshop, however, I had no success so far to get 10-bit to work.
Here's what I've done so far:
I set everything up as described here http://www.eizo.com/global/support/compatibility/photoshopcs6_nvidia_amd/index.html
    Summed up, I did:
    1) enable 10-bit mode in ATI driver and rebooted -> checked and this is still enabled after reboot
    2) open PS CS6 and enable "advanced" drawing mode and 30-bit display in the "performance" options and rebooted  -> checked and this is still enabled after reboot
I verified that the monitor runs in 10-bit mode using Monitor Asset Manager 2.6 (http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm). It states that Color bit depth is "10 bits per primary color", which is what I want.
Then I tried to open the ATI 10-bit test file ramp.psd (http://www.amd.com/us/products/workstation/graphics/software/Pages/adobe-photoshop.aspx). In Photoshop it shows banding. As I've read that Lightroom 4's develop module uses 10-bit, I opened the file there and it had no banding.
The only troubleshooting I could find for 10-bit colors in PS was this post http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/40945907 however I do not have desaturation set in the color preferences of PS, hence it does not apply to my problem.
Does anyone of you have any idea about what to try next?

I forgot to mention: the Eizo is obviously connected to the V4900 via DisplayPort as that is the required connection type for 10-bit colors.
PLEASE someone help me with some tip on this, I'm really stuck.

  • Re: Does updating the display driver affect color management settings?

    Hello everyone!
I have received a message about the new display driver update and I have some doubts about installing it. When I installed an update for the BIOS driver, all BIOS settings returned to the default ones, but in that case it wasn't a big deal to set them again according to my needs. But I spent, probably, half a day, adjusting the color, using the color management, and I really want to keep the settings I've done. So, please, tell me, if updating the nVidia driver affects these settings and if there's any way of backuping them? Thank you very much!

    Hi,
If you install a graphic card driver, your setting will be set by default. To be honestly, I don't see any reason to update drivers if the system runs well. I still use the same drivers I downloaded before and don't make update for new one. About backing up the settings, I don't know how to do it.Anyway, I have never thought about it.
You are welcome, if have more questions.

  • Once you dropped your iPhone, will the quality of new photos that will be captured be affected once you took a new ones?

Once you dropped your iPhone (no damage), will the quality of new photos that will be captured be affected once you took a new ones? Can someone give advise? Just wondering if that would affect my iPhone. I dropped it once without case. I'm using an iPhone 5s.
    Kind Regards,
    Zaldy

Not quite clear about the question. Does the camera take pictures in lower quality after you dropped the phone than before? In that case the camera might be damaged and your phone needs to be serviced:
Apple - Support - Service Answer Center
Some more things to try before that:
    Camera
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

  • Will Photoshop CS6 display 30-bit-color with two GPUs?

    Hello there!
I  think about purchasing a small Nvidia Quadro, which supports 30-bit-color, since its not available on my currrent GTX 780Ti running on Windows 7 Ulitimate x64.
It is not a big deal to set the quadro, once installed, as the responsible GPU for color and OpenCL-acceleration...
    BUT:
as long as the 780Ti has around 999999x times more computing-power than the small quadro (around 250 €), it would be nice to profit
of this as well. at the same time.
So: is there a way to use the Quadro purely for "displaying and color" and the 780ti for accelerating tasks in Photoshop CS6?
    I'm afraid not..
    but cheer me up pls.
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the quick response!
unfortunately that's what I expected to hear.
It's a shame that Nvidia wont enable the 30-bit-feature under windows or mac until you
spend a few thousand euros for a K5000 or K6000
I hope that there will be a workaround for that soon. (maybe some tweaked quadro-drivers as I read a few years ago)
    Thanks so far!

I have CC and while attempting Light Effects, the Light Effects Layer will appear in the layers panel, but the option bar will not appear and neither will the Properties panel. All my preferences are set correct, and my computer has a compatible video card and RAM. Please help!
I tried to delete the layer attempt again. I am in a Photoshop class, but the work is all online, so all my teacher is going to do is send me to this site. I am trying to edit a photo for this class, and without this working, i go to filter>render>light effects. the bar and panel will pop up for about 2 seconds, then disappear. How do i get the options bar and properties panel to display?

I was about to suggest resetting LE from the Workspace drop-down top right corner, but if you can't see the Options Bar, I guess that is not going to happen.  The normal Tool reset is grey out for LE, so it might be a case of resetting Preferences.
    Reset Preferences
Windows — Hold down Shift Ctrl Alt immediately after starting Photoshop
Mac — Hold down Shift Cmd Opt immediately after starting Photoshop
