I want to know if I would be able to create my own ring tone for my nokia, It ***** if i could only make ring tone for a Iphone.

Sorry, but no one outside of Apple knows anything about future product releases. Anything anyone here would post would be pure speculation which isn't allowed here (the Discussions are for technical support on existing products). There are a number of rumor sites which you can read, but as to whether any rumors they report have any validity, your guess will be as good as ours.
Given, though, that Apple is a provider of music as well as the phone, it's quite likely that the restrictions on ringtones has been mandated by the record companies who feel that ringtones are a separate product and call for a separate, additional purchase. If that is indeed the case, then it's highly unlikely that iTunes will ever make creating ringtones without a separate purchase easy.

I just installed Lion to my iMac. Every thing works like before except for iTunes. When I clicked on it, it said the iTunes file could not be found, and that there was a new version of iTunes. I said to install it, but then I get a box saying it is waitin

I just installed Lion and everything works fine except for iTunes. It says it cannot find my iTunes file, then asks if I want the latest version of iTunes. I clck yes, then get a box saying it is waiting for other downloads to complete. That box just sits there as I have no other downloads waiting. How do I get my music back? Actually it is all my wives', and I want to get it back for her. Any help will be appreciated.

This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

The only people who would know about this would be under NDA and not allowed to say anything. Otherwise, your guess is as good as ours. FWIW, for the past several years there has been a new version every fall.

IPOD will not display in new version of iTUNES

We installed the newest version of iTUNES and now our computer (Windows XP) won't recognize the iPOD. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Iphone will not sync to new version of Itunes 7.7

Installed update to itunes and am now at version 7.7
tried to connect my current iphone to sync, it brings up the Iphoto app to sync pictures, but will not bring up itunes and make a connection.
Install went fine, no errors of any kind.

Same Problem here with my iPhone and my 5th gen. iPod. But waiting didn't help. I tried my iPhone twice for more than 30 min., but it didn't show up. Curiously iPod and iPhone just don't show up in my main library I usually sync my iPhone with and I have all my music in. They do show up in my audiobook and film libraries and my library on my girlfriend's Windows machine.
So here's my little work around: I created a new library with my podcasts I regularly listen to and my iPhone apps and set my iPhone to sync these apps. If I want to copy new music, podcasts or apps, I import it in this temporary library and copy it on my iPhone. This works best with the iPhone set to manually copying music and videos. Otherwise you would need all the music on your iphone to be in this temporary library, too.
By the way, if you set this new temporary library to sync apps with your iPhone, iTunes warns you the apps on your iPhone will be deleted and replaced with those of the new library. If these apps are the same, they won't be replaced and the data of the apps (your setup, username/password, copied files or whatever) won't get lost.
There's another point: This beach ball thing happened to me after I set my iPhone from automatic syncing of playlists and videos to manually copying music and videos. So here's my question for you:
What are your iPhones set to???

New version of iTunes slowness

Apple Software Updater told me that there was a new version of iTunes available so I updated it. The update went just fine. I launched iTunes after the update so I could listen to music and I was presented with the EULA (I don't know why Apple insists that you go through the EULA every time you upgrade. So I clicked on the I agree so that I could go on. iTunes then launched in full screen. It has now been 30 minutes "updating iTunes Library" and still not able to listen to music. Plus iTunes is keeps bring itself to the active application and cannot be minimized. It should not take 30 plus minutes to update the library nor should it be full screen while updating the library nor should it be making itself the active application (it took me 10 minutes to type this article because iTunes keeps coming to the active application.

I just noticed this today. I kept ignoring the apple itunes software update for days, but the darn thing kept bugging me... so I finally gave in. Now iTunes is very sluggish. I wish I could go back to the old version. Maybe I can use my original disks that came with the computer ....

Play iTunes with iPhone Remote fails when new version of iTunes

When there is a new version of iTunes, a dialog is presented by the application. This dialog seems to prevent one from playing iTunes via the iPhone Remote app (at least if using AirPlay speakers).
Just a tip.
Another #FAIL for iTunes (having upgrade dialogs, which can appear at any time, ruin the functionality of the application is just lame)

Restore the backup before you installed.
If you didn't make a backup, at very minimum make sure your Music library isn't compromised by locating the folder you selected the music to be in (usually in Users -> yourname -> Music) and make sure there are several MB of data there by clicking once on the folder, and selecting Get Info from the File menu in the Finder.
If you can't find it, try to locate parts of track names with Find Any File.

then determine which parent file of the .mp3 or .mpa files you have contains all of the music files by getting info under each previous folder in the folder tree.
Once you determine which folder contains all your music, back it up using the Finder, or backup the entire hard drive using cloning software at least to two different drives or two complete copies on DVDs:

You'll then want to erase and install 10.6 from the system installer you used to put 10.6 on your Mac, and run the combo 10.6.8 updater and apply the necessary security updates:

Then you can install older versions of iTunes for the Mac from here, once you determine which version is compatible with 10.6.8 that you liked before by first checking which version is compatible with what you need:

Once you know that, if you can't find it with Google, let us know and maybe one of us can help. Lastly reload your music in your music folder, and your other applications.

Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.

this is a follow up from the profane post earlier....
i have done this twice in two other posts..
here is my problem.. i started off trying to update itunes, it failed twice and said i needed to install manually via tools.
the only place to get to tools is the pop up box that appears when you click check for updates.. if there is an available update then the pop up shows up with the quick time and itunes files to download. so i finally figured that out. i clicked on tools and manual update, four files were saved to a file. Apple mobile device support, another one similar, itunes, and another one i cant remember. I only downloaded the itunes file seeing as though thats all i needed to accomplish in the first place.
so then i restarted my computer bc you need to reboot and then reopen itunes for update to take effect. once i have itunes back open i plugged in my new 5s which i am trying to sync to my computer to get all my stuff back bc i lost my previous phone over the weekend.. once i plugged the phone in an error stating i needed to unistall the apple mobile device support and itunes and then reinstall. well i dont know where those files were originally stored on my computer AND since my itunes was updated, just not the other 3 associated files, when i click check for updates it says its up to date and then pop up containing the quick time and itunes does not pop up thus i cant get back to the tools tab to manually save the 4 files again.
so i was just going to uninstall itunes all together and then i thought well what happens if it erases all my photos apps songs etc... which would defeat the whole purpose in the first place of me trying to sync my new phone to get all my stuff back.
so i literally have no idea what to do at this point.. if you have read this you are probably just as confused as me...
