Will there be a way to merge iCloud accounts for family sharing in iOS 8?
My family of four has 5 Apple IDs. Each of us has a personal one that we use for mail, contacts, and calendars and we all share an Apple ID for use with the iTunes and App Stores. This way, we can all currently share content without having to buy it four times. However, Apple has solved this problem in iOS 8 with family sharing.
My question is how should I handle this with my current lineup of Apple IDs. I know there's currently no way to merge two Apple IDs into one, and I don't want to just transfer my credit card to my personal Apple ID, as I will lose my purchase history. I know I could add my current "shared" ID to our family account in iOS 8, but I'd like not to have a duplicate of myself. Any advice would be appreciated!
It's not necessary to merge the iCloud and iTunes Store accounts. The Family Organizer should use their own iCloud account when setting up Family Sharing. You'll also be asked to supply the iTunes Store account you want to use to share music, movies, apps, etc., with your family during the setup process. It appears Apple has already addressed this common problem.

I do not see any method by which to convert an existing iCloud account (we have three set up for our kids, all their birthdays are set later than their actual birthdays so we could grab their actual names before they were all gone years ago) to a new Child iCloud Account for use with Family Sharing (namely to be able to take advantage of the new features: Family Calendar, Photostream, 'Ask to Buy' on the Stores, etc. on their own iPad minis.
If this is just not possible under the current scheme, please oh please Apple make this an option - there are probably thousands of others in this same boat, and I refuse to give up my kids' iCloud accounts!I've read every string and workaround solution on these forums (to date). USER STORY: My kid (age 7) has an iPad 2. I created an email address for him (which he doesn't know about). I created an apple ID for him (which he also doesn't know or care about) and I set up his Apple ID with my credit card. In addition I've set up parental controls on the iPad to lock it down and make it more age appropriate. Over the past year or so it's worked out fine, he sees something he might like, brings the iPad to me and if I approve, I enter the Apple ID Password and approve the purchase. After a year of doing this, he has a nice little collection of apps, kid songs, a few movies, etc. I would like to move my kid over to a legitimate kid account now that Apple has released features that support this. Currently the ability to convert an account does not exist. Seems like it should be easy to change a birthday, etc.
Almost seems like Apple is penalizing us for getting our kid an iPad last year.

Can multiple users access 1 iCloud account for file sharing?
I work in a team where everyone has an ios or mac device. Is it possible, if i were to create a new @me.com account, for all team members to use this as their iCloud ID and therefore be able to share documents?
Would there be a limit as to how many users could do this?Ok have just spoken with Apple Support and the guy didn't fill me with confidence in terms of his knowledge.
He stated that the max users sharing a iCloud account would be 11 (random number IMO). Also that we could only share/edit docs if we were on the same network which kind of defeats the point.
Can anyone verify or correct me on the above? -

i have multiple idevices and the same account being used across multiple of these devices. I want to manage my storage from a central place. is this possible.
delete content in iCloud from devices with out physically accessing the devices. I want to get a global view of which device is using what aspect of cloud and if possible, clean up the photo stream on the cloud itself and push it to all devices.

I was going to suggest that one of you uses the account for everything, contacts, calendars, photo stream etc, the other uses the same account but just enables photo stream (so you are only sharing photo stream), they then log into another account (their own account) as a secondary account at settings > mail, contacts, calendars and enables everything they want to use (mail, contacts etc-thereby keeping them separate from the first user-secondary accounts don't have photo stream).
As I alluded to before the difficulty is documents, documents are only synced with primary accounts, so one of you could use document syncing or both of you could share your documents or indeed, neither of you could use it.
Not sure if the compromise over documents is acceptable to you. -
Is there a way to merge Mail account A on my desktop with Mail account A from separate hard disks? I lost all my old messages (thousands of them) in July, but most of them are safe elsewhere. I'd really like to put them all in one place, though!
The desktop (iMac) now has messages from July 2012 onward.
My separate hard disk backup has old messages up to June 2012.
Most of the ones between June and July are on a MacBook Pro which I bought about that time.
Is there a relatively easy and safe way to put these messages back together in Mail account A on my desktop again?

Sounds like a job for Apple Support. They'll have to remove the downloads from the queue to clear the iPad.

Each user should have their own icloud account, otherwise they end up getting the same emails, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc. - usually not what you want. But if all have been sharing the same itunes ID, keep it that way, you can have different IDs for itunes and icloud.
If you already have another icloud account, and want to set it up on a device, then go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account. This only disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost on icloud. Then enter the account ID that you want to use.

In that case only the previous owner can unlock it, either by providing you with the account ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices (as he should have done before selling it) - please see http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4515
If you unable to contact him to do this then I'm afraid you will not be able to use the device - there is no other way of unlocking it at all.
You should if possible return it to wherever you bought it and ask for a refund as in this event the device is completely useless.

If I use the same iCloud account for my ipad and iPhone, will changes I make on one change on the other as well? I'm not sure of the advantage of using teh same iCloud for both devices.
No, it only mirrors changes to synced data. This includes mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, safari bookmarks, notes, iWork documents and data, and photo stream photos (assuming you choose to sync all this data). Changes to iTunes data such as music, apps, podcasts, etc., are not synced using iCloud. In your example, if you delete an app from one device it will remain on the other until deleted there too.

When I got my new iphone 4, I gave my wife my old iphone. She has her own Apple Id but the icloud on her phone is in my email name account. If I delete it to create her own icloud account, will I loose my stuff on my icloud account?
Welcome to the Apple community.
When you delete the old account from the phone, the data is only deleted from that device, it is not deleted from the cloud. As such you will not lose the data off your phone either. -
