Will there be an additional charge if I turn on the hotspot feature on my iphone4s?

My iPhone4S has the availabilty to act as a Hotspot. I know how to enable this, but will I incur any additional charges if I do?

Depends on your plan. Some plans include the mobile hot spot.
Others do not. Post the name of your plan or just look it up at Verizon Wireless web portal.
If its not included you can add it for a cost of $30 for 2GB.
on my account it was $20 for 2 GB but that price is no more.
Good Luck

Trip to Spain.  Can iPad work on Spanish wifi?  Will I be able to check US email accounts a will there be any special charge?  Do I need to take a special charger?  Thanks.

The wifi will work just fine. There will be no charge for accessing your email from across the pond the only fee could potentially be for wifi access. The few trips I have taken to Europe I found some of the hotels charge for Internet access. Your charger that came with your iPad accepts 110-220 volts (220 is used in Europe ). All you will need is an plug adaptor for your charger and you will be good to go. You can buy the appropriate plug adaptor at any electronics store for a few $. Don't let them talk you into a transformer to change the voltage unless you will be bringing other plug in items that don't accept 220v.
One thing to be careful of is if you have a cell phone turn it off or put it into airplane mode and just turn on the wifi. Data roaming from Europe could easily cost you more that the plane tickets.
    Have a good trip.

  • Is there any way to turn off the ical feature whereby someone emails you a meeting date/time and it automatically goes on your iCal?

Is there any way to turn off the iCal feature whereby when someone emails you a meeting date/time and it automatically appears on your calendar?  Once there they can't even be edited or deleted.

    Greetings,
What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
You should be able to delete events in iCal as long as they are not from a "Subscription" calendar.  Subscriptions show up on the left hand side of iCal under the "Subscription" category if you have any.
You can tell iCal to not check your mail program for invites by going and unchecking the box found in iCal > Preferences > Advanced > "Automatically retrieve..."
    Hope that helps!

  • Will there be a new LGA 2011 board(s) for the release of IB-E?

    As the topic suggests.
I'm planning a new build and would like to know.
    Cheers :D

Don't get your hopes up. Initially, DDR4 will be too expensive and too slow to justify the jump over DDR3. It'll be the next high end platform (the X99 successor) that will be considerably faster compared to DDR3 platforms. It's like the DDR to DDR2 and DDR2 to DDR3 switches. Major performance increases happened a couple of years after the new interface surfaced.
X99 will use many SATA 6Gbps ports but until then there will be cheaper SATA 12Gbps expansion cards on the market. Not to mention that using more than 2 of them is very unlikely. HDDs are hardly reaching 1.5Gbps and you won't need more than 2 SSDs on a typical system. If the system is not typical then it will either use 12Gbps SATA or PCIe SSDs, so again the 6Gbps ports will not be needed.
The PCIe 3 fiasco is NVIDIA's mess and has nothing to do with limitations of X79 and SB-E processors.
Essentially, the only reason to get X99 will be the support for 8 to 12 core Haswell-E desktop processors. But those will most likely be overpriced (1000$+).
Unfortunately Ivy Bridge-E desktop processors (out around this November) won't likely come in more than 6 cores. Unlike the server parts that will have up to 12 cores.
Haswell-E and X99 are expected to come out near November 2014. That's about one year and half from now. So waiting until then is not advised.
All in all, X79 and Sandy Bridge-E lasted way more than I thought. They'll stay 2 full years since their release at the top of desktop platforms until IB-E comes out and steals the first place in performance. Then after 1 year Haswell-E will ditch it to 3rd place, maybe 4th counting the Haswell refresh for LGA1150.
LGA2011 seems to be on par with LGA1366 in regards to longevity.
LGA1366 processors offered a greater performance boost over similar core 2 processors. The problem was that the major boost the 970 gave over quad core processors came at a very high price and came two years after the platform was released, and when the 980 came out SB-E was just around the corner.
Still, even 5 years later, a quad core 920 is fast enough to run every software currently out at reasonably high settings.
LGA2011 processors offer a less significant performance boost over similar LGA1366 processors, but the cost is far lower for the hexa-core released together with X79, while the LGA1366 equivalents were either too expensive or came out near the end of the platform's life. You also have more PCIe lanes with double the speed per lane. The greater over-clocking potential of SB-E is also a plus.
Judging from the current trends, it seems that early LGA1366 processors like the 920 will be enough for everything until around 2014-2015, and late hexa-core ones until around 2017-2018. That's like freaking 10 years since the platform came out!
LGA2011 processors will last about 5 years longer due to typical performance increases on new processors, and due to the inclusion of AVX instructions on them leaving major overhead for application performance optimizations (it's as important as SSE was for Pentium 3). That's also like 10 years until LGA2011 came out, maybe 12-15 if octa-core (or faster) IB-E desktop processors come out.
Technological advancements happen at a lower pace these years. Long gone are the days where every next year processor performance was doubled. Back then you needed a new PC every 2 years. I guess that I prefer the current situation. :p
Anyway, this post went a little overboard. To answer the poster's question... I'd say that MSI will get new X79 boards out in order to have "out of the box" Ivy Bridge-E capable boards out on the market. No current boards will support IB-E until their BIOS is updated, which is quite pointless if you need to buy an old processor in order to make the new one you bought compatible.
If you have a way to update the board BIOS to get the board ready for IB-E then by all means, get one of the MSI boards already out. The 8 DIMM versions of the X79A GD45 and GD65 boards from MSI are amongst the most reliable boards out there, even compared to the boards of other platforms (LGA 1155, 1150, AM3, etc).
Now, I don't say that there can't be defective boards, just that the chances of getting a defective board are far lower compared to the rest. The reliability of those boards when they are stressed is also better than on the rest.
    Cheers! :D

  • My iPod loses its charge pretty quickly it there something I'm not doing (besides turning "off" the app after I use them I the evening?

I just became the proud parent of an iPhone last week. I'm surprised at how fast I lose my charge during its normal use everyday. I charge it every night, is that too much? Do I need to let it go completely drained before recharging it each night? I do remember to "turn off" the apps I use every evening. Is there something else I should be doing? Do I need to take off some apps if they might be draining the battery? Thanks, Trish

    http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
Allow the battery to be completely depleted before charging the battery is worse for the battery than charging more often. I connect my iPhone to a power source whenever possible so when I take off, the battery is closer to being fully charged or fully charged. I leave my iPhone connected to a power source every night. When the battery is fully charged while remaining connected to a power source, charging stops.

  • Will there be a RAW plugin for Elements 12 supporting the Canon EOS 7D MkII - or when will the DNG converter for this be available?

I've just bought a Canon EOS 7D MkII but cannot open the RAW files in Elements 12. I also can't use the latest DNG Converter to convert them - will either option become available and if yes how long is it likely to take please?
    Thanks, Sarah

    Hi,
The Canon 7D Mk II is currently not supported by any version of camera raw.
It is expected that Camera raw 8.7 will include support and we are hoping that it will be released soon.
PSE 12 has ceased to be updated - you will either need to update to PSE 13 or use the DNG 8.7 converter (when it becomes available) to convert the CR2 files to DNG files - PSE 12 will then beable to use the DNG files.

  • My iPad2 keeps correcting my name. Is there a way to have it learn my name without turning off the entire feature?

My iPad2 keeps correcting my name.  (lpkelle become likelier)  I would like to use the autocorrect feature but find this one element annoying.  Is there  way to edit so that it learns my name?

  • Will publishing to html 5 in captivate 8 give me the same features as a captivate 5 swf file?

    Hi,
I have Captivate 5 and I use some features like audio, screen clicks and highlight areas.
I want these files to be mobile ready so publishing them in html 5 would be my solution, would buying captivate 8 allow for the sames features and interactions?
    Thanks for the help,
    Steve.

HTML5 will allow you to do most things that you can do with the flash output but for example highlight areas will not work because mouse over is not possible with an iPad or tablet in general. You need to change those to click boxes where the user taps on and the information shows up. Also any animation made with flash will not work. You will need to use adobe edge animate to create animations that work in html5.
Text animations also do not work. you will have to make those in edge animate or just use plain text with some effects (not all effects work for html5). If you have a sample that you can show us we can tell you what will and what will not work.
Finally most things that do not work can be substituted by something else that will.

  • When will there be a car charger available for iphone 5?

I want to know when there will be a car charger available for iphone 5?

Texasgirl97: You do not need a car charger "with a Lightning connector on it". Car chargers have a USB port; all you have to do is use the cable that came with your iPhone 5, which has a USB connector on one end (plug it into the car charger) and a Lightning connector on the other end (plug it into the iPhone 5). Car chargers are cheap, much less than $50 or even $30. I've seen some advertised for around $10. Some even have two USB ports. Extra cables are becoming available now at around $10. Search Amazon.com or other on-line vendors.

  • Will there be an Ergotron MX Desk Mount arm for the IPAD 2?

Having trouble finding a functional AND attractive clamping desk mount for a drafting table (which sits at an incline). The Ergotron is pefect but only made for computer monitors. After having researched this for a couple of weeks, Im here to tell you guys at Apple that there is a BIG hole in the market for IPad clamping desk mounts that arent ugly and cumbersom. This Ergontron in an IPad format would sell bazillions!

tdog10000, I work at Ergotron. We are just launching information on a new Universal Tablet Cradle, part number 80-106-085 for $39. It will attach to any mount with VESA. Find on ergotron.com in accessories category. Will be available later in June.

  • Will there be an update to iOS 7 that allows the user to resize his/hers wallpaper on iPad 2?

Please allow us to resize our wallpapers apple.

Apple rarely announces the content of an incremental update prior to release, so no one here would be able to tell you that.

  • Is there any way to turn off the Resume feature?

I often just quit an App with lots of windows open. Lots of web pages, or lots of documents.
I really don't want them to all open back up when I restart the app.
Sometimes I quit with a password protected file open and the app comes up asking me to enter the password even though I don't want to open the doc. Sometimes I have to wait while all these webpages open up.
So, now I must option close windows when I quit an app - which is an annoying step and I sometimes forget it.
While this is a fine feature for iOS because you only have one page/doc visible at a time, it ***** for the way I use my Mac.
Is there some way I can turn this feature off?

Just found this... Sorry to waste the post...
