  • New 2nd Gen Macbook Pro does not come out of sleep mode overnight

I bought the new generation macbook pro last week and every night when I closed the lid of the computer, it would not wake up in the morning. I had to press the on button several times before it restarted. I then get a message that my computer was shut down improperly. It also had some serious trackpad issues.
I brought it in and they gave me a new one. At first they thought I was given the older machine by accident...but I was not.
Anyway, I took it home and the first night it was okay but the 2nd night it had the same problem. fyi..I migrated all my files from the old computer to this one and don't know if that could cause the problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • HI there all, have got a 2 year old macbook pro that just recently wont start up. Even if I know the battery is fully charged. What I have to do is remove the battery, wait a minute or so, insert back in and it will fire up. Any ideas?

Try the old two stand-by's first:
    Reset PRAM, and;
    Reset SMC.
If that doesn't help, call back,

  • Are both new 15-inch MacBook Pro models OK for Creative Cloud?

The "cheaper" version of the new 15-inch MacBook Pro released 10/22/13 doesn't have discrete graphics, only Iris Pro. Is the integrated graphics card enough to run Creeative Cloud, or should I buy the more expensive one with discrete graphics

I have the same question. With a fully maxed system (2.6GHz, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) there's no price difference. However the discrete graphics card seems like it will run down the battery quicker.
It seems Photoshop will be able to use the IrisPro 5200 to offload certain processes. The previous versions of Intel HD Graphics chips are on the list of suported video cards.

I am leaning towards getting the onboard graphics (Iris Pro 5200)

  • Does anyone know if a new Mac Pro needs to come out soon?

    Hey everybody..
I'm using mac pro from 2007 and i want to replace it for a new one.
everytime i bought a mac product, 2-3 months after a newer came out (it was like that with my macbook pro, iPhone 1,3,3gs,4s, iPad2).
I guess all i want is to know if apple will ever put out a new mac pro?
    is it still apple's flagship?
I don't want to buy mac pro as it is because a lot of new technology is missing, like usb 3, thunderbolt, HDMI ect.
I thing apple didn't came out with new mac pro from 2009.
    Please Help,
    Niv

There was no new model, it was just a change in default processor from 2.8 to 3.2GHz, that was all, and it is otherwise totally the same, still runs 10.6.8 if needed too.
The need for TB is miniscule on a workstation. There are some attempts to get storage arrays but then you already can add SAS/SATA, and you can install higher end graphic video like GTX 670 if needed. More video processing than any TB - which is a nice product, just more aimed it seems toward notebook users and such.
And there are the constant where is TB threads.
Intel is even reconsidering their Xeon roadmap due to when they can have new models, DDR4 around the corner.
If there is a desire that is needed it is probably SATA 3.1 if anything.

  • My new 13 inch Macbook Pro and FCP and FCS 2

Until today I thought I could not run FCP and FCS 2 Full Suite because of my graphics card in my base, stock, 13" Macbook Pro. -- I'm being told that my 9400M with 256 shared memory will run these applications. That's good news to me if it's true. What are some of your views from the Pro camp please. I can bring up the memory and hard drive. I just shoot and edit in Standard Definition with my Canon Optura 50 MINI DV Tapes and my Canon HV20 with the same.
I realize I am on the low end but will it work?

Some of it will, although you might not be happy with the performance of Motion and Color will probably not install at all.

  • My new 15 inch macbook pro won't turn on

  • Problems using POPCORN on new 17 inch Macbook pro

I just recently purchased a Macbook pro 17 inch and I have been trying to copy DVD's using POPCORN 1.03.
What I have done in the past with my old G4 was to use Mac Ripper to copy onto my external hard drive. Then use Popcorn to record the DVD and doing this all my copies have been fine with no problems apart from the time ( I had to leave my G4 to run overnight).
I've just upgraded to a 17 Macbook Pro and I have done the same process but for some reason the DVD does not recognise chapter 1. The DVD does not automatically play. But it I fast forward chapters 2 onwards they play as normal. If I want to start the DVD from the beginning I have to scan back from chapter 2.
I've tried using a slower speed and the problem stays the same. I've played the disc on a PC and it does start from the beginning though very jerky.
I've also tried burning a different stored DVD file and it does the same thing which leads me to think that it may be a hardware problem?
I've also tried running the Popcorn on it's own and with other apps running but it makes no difference.
I was wanting to get rid of my G4 but I may have to keep it for a while longer to burn DVDs?
    Can anyone help me?

    Jan5ki,
You may need to upgrade Popcorn 1.0.3 to Popcorn 2 (see also <a href="http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/25171" this link</a>) to get native Intel support --- Popcorn 1.0.3 was released about a year ago, prior to the release of your MacBook Pro. It's impressive it runs at all under Rosetta, but I'm pretty such the update will run better.
(p.s. You might re-ask the question in the MacBook Pro Forum, where the odds of fiding someone who's been through the same question firsthand is rather higher than in the eMac forum.)

  • W510 vs New 15-inch Macbook Pro

    Can you help me decide?
I do print design with light gaming. Thanks!
Enhanced ThinkPad W510 laptop with discrete graphics (+CPU upgrade)
    Intel Quad Core Processor i7 820QM (1.73GHz 1066MHz 8MBL3)
NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M Graphics with 1GB DDR3 memory
    4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
320 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
    9 cell 2.8Ah Li-Ion Battery - Dual Mode
    (No switchable graphics)
    $2,119.00
    or
    MacBook Pro 15-inch 2.66
    Intel Core i7
    4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm (Upgraded)
    8-9 hour battery
    Intel HD Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 512MB
(automatic graphics switching determines which graphics processor an application needs and switches instantly between processors to deliver peak performance and long battery life. )
    $2,199.00
Also, does anyone know what kind of battery life I can expect out of the w510?
    Thanks!
    Thinkpad T500 - Intel Core2 P8400 (2.26GHz), 4 gigs of ram, 160GB/7200rpm hard drive, ATI 3650 GPU, WSXGA+ panel

Can you also help me to decide?
I do Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, 3ds max, some Rhina and lots of photoshop, illustrator.
    Lenovo Thinkpad W510
    -     FHD ,95% gamut LED (oops! i dont really need that so HD+ is good)
    -     Intel i7 Quad (i do CPU intensive work all day, cant live without it)
    -     4 DIMM memory slots (so i can upgrade to 8gb for just $170 and able to expand to 16gb later)
    -     Qudro fx 880m (come on, i am a professional and i need a pro card)
    -     USB 3.0 port (how can a $2000 laptop without it)
    -     Supper built quality (at least can survive a 2 feet fall from table and accident coffee spilt.
    -     color sensor
    -     Gobi 2000 with GPS
    Price.....$2249
    Apple (new) 15" macbook (pro)
    -     Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display [Add $150.00]
    -     Intel i7 Duo(essentially a i5 processor but label it i7 specially marketing for apple, since apple's macbook (pro) design cannot provide sufficient cooling and power supply for a (real) quad core processor. Thus apple ask intel specially label one i5 processor to an i7 so that now macbook pro has an i7...got it!)
    -     2 DIMM (to upgrade to 8 gb i have to pay $400 extra) for 16 gb, you have to wait for 8 gb memory card which cost $$$$$)
    -     NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M consumer card ( What??? thats not even a full 1 GB version but a stripped-down 512mb version)
    thats ..........$2799....
At last, i do respect every laptop user. If you use Mac OS that use a Mac and If you use Window OS that PC laptop is a better choice.
    Cheers.

  • When's new revision of MacBook Pro Coming Out?

any new revisions to make macbook pro even better, like the new os x coming out "leopard"? or updated ghz or fixed all the bugs, anyone have a date on that or will it take like a year like how long it took for g4 to come out to macbook pro? i want to buy the macbook pro but idk if i should wait for somethin new to come out that may come out soon and ill regret buying the current one?

Don't listen to those who have sour grapes about buying their MBP. Apple will switch the Merom right away because intel plans to roll them out in mass in August/September.
And yes, it will be faster than the current processor because it is a faster chip (anyone who says otherwise doesn't really understand processors). If you took Yonah and made it 64 without enhancing anything, then it would be the same, but its not the same. It would be like saying the P2 and P3 at the same clock speeds were identical in performance, its just not the case. They've all ready done performance tests with the Merom that prove its much faster using an imac.
You should wait though. While you could wait 10 years for more and more processors the differences on the merom (cooler, faster, 64bit) are substantially. 3 months is hardly a long wait for those kind of gains. If it was just a matter of clock speed, then it wouldn't matter, but this goes well beyond that.

  • Will there be mutiuser in the new ios7 for ipad

Will there be mutiuser in the new ios7 for ipad

We only know what Apple has told the rest of the world about what the new features will be in iOS 7, and you can read about them here.
    http://www.apple.com/ios/ios7/
I haven't read about allowing multiuser accounts in iOS 7 and anything more would be speculation.

  • My quandary is how to transfer EVERYTHING from a Macbook pro that won't boot up to a new one, will the usual linking with a firewire lead still work?

I have an early intel Macbook Pro that wouldn't wake from sleep and won't now boot up, i'm just going to replace it with a new 13" i5 but i need to transfer the last five years of my life off the dead one to the new one, there's nearly 3 grand of music software and mp3's before i even think about the 10 years of photographs and videos, some of it is backed up but i ideally want to just transfer it all over.
what are my options? will linking the two together with a firewire or similar still be possible without the old one booting up (it still has power and turns on but the sleep light is constantly lit but very dim, the hard drive does sound like it's spinning up) or am I best removing the old Hard drive and putting it in an external case, would I be able to access directories and folders or could i boot up off an external drive or would there be hardware compatibility problems?
without sounding off i'd appreciate any complicated processes be explained in beginner to intermediate levels of "GEEK" i'm far from a pro but should be able to muddle through!!!
you've no idea how much any help with this will be appreciated!!!

Since the old MBP is dead the only option is to remove the hard drive and use a SATA/IDE to USB adapter to get all your stuff off the old drive.
One note though make sure you use the same user name and passord on your new MBP as you had on the old one.
As to software hopefully you have all the license information written down other wise you may have a hard time reinstalling some of it. Also be aware that OS X Lion will not run older PPC software. So if you have older programs that used Rosetta to run it will not run on Lion.
    Good luck with everything.

  • Hi I seemed to have picked something on my MacBook Pro that hits me with a survey that involves winning a new iPhone 5 or iPad.  Is there anything you can advise to get rid of whatever it is?

    Hi Anybody
I seemed to have picked something on my MacBook Pro that hits me with a survey that involves winning a new iPhone 5 or iPad.  Is there anything you can advise to get rid of whatever it is?  Bear in mind I am a greenhorn with regard to computers!

I did download clamXav software as someone on line recommended it which duly scanned my computer and located some infected files.  However, I don't know how to select these files to delete them.   Does anyone know an idiot's guide for this software?

This is my first time using this site, but it's helpful so far. Not sure if I need to retype the wording in the Discussion box above, but will do so just in case.

The simplest thing to try is a reset.
With Safari running, click on Safari in the menu bar and select Reset Safari ....
If that does not work, go to Safari / Preferences / Advanced.
