Will these airport routers track incoming and outgoing port traffic

I am trying to track a virus inside the network. Linksys will identify port traffic on a network. Will these routers do this?

Sorry, but no. The AirPort routers, natively, do NOT log actual data traffic. You would need either a router that supports this from another manufacturer or use a network "sniffer" program to do this.

  • HT1430 Pop-up shows name or password is incorrect.   Have changed password on both incoming and outgoing ports, no luck.

Can anyone help?      Cannot receive or send mail, pop-up shows name or password incorrect.   Changed password on both incoming and outgoing, no luck.
Have been at it all day long.     Any suggestions?

Guess what? That's right! I switched on my laptop this morning and the moment I opened Thunderbird I received three emails - one of them informing me that I'd changed my password.
So the problem was clearly at the server end, not mine.
For anybody who is searching the Help Forums looking for help: be aware that you will find many messages like this one and lots of suggestions as to what YOU may have done wrong. The reality is that if you have this specific error message, it is probably a glitch in the system that randomly happens and is fixed, apparently without BT/Yahoo! knowing anything about it.
It IS known about, has been known about for years, and will not be addressed as a problem in the near future.
My recommendation "get a new email address!". If you MUST stay with the btinternet/btopenworld address then get used to the idea that every so often you will not be able to get into your email. Don't panic and don't go changing your settings as this will only confuse the matter when it comes back online - without any warning or advisory.
I say this, not as a rant (although it fills that role as well) but as a genuine suggestion to avoid random problems that you will not be able to fix.
This is the 21st centrury and we still have electronic messaging systems that breakdown randomly and without anybody aparently knowing why, or how to fix it. So much for tomorrow's world, eh?
Bye bye BT/Yahoo! - I'd like to have said "it's been nice", but...

  • Incoming and Outgoing router traffic

    Hi everybody,
What exactly is the concept of incoming and outgoing traffic at one particular router interface? Can outgoing traffic be considered as the traffic forwarded from that interface to another interface?
    Cheers
    Aditya Naidu

imagine an interface has two doors.
    || interface ||
thus packet flowing towards the interface would be considered "in",
    --> || interface || <--
alternatively, packet flowing the opposite direction would be considered "out",
    <-- || interface || -->
now, let have a look at the router with 2 interfaces.
    || interface 1 || -- routing process -- || interface 2 ||
packet originated from subnet connected to interface 1 destined for the subnet connected to interface 2:
    --> || interface 1 || --> --> || interface 2 || -->
    in other words,
the packet firstly flows "in" interface 1, "out" interface 1, "in" interface 2, and finally "out" interface 2.

  • Opening spesific incoming and outgoing ports for game hosting for instance?

I have tried this for a little while now and can't really figure it out. Seems like you are required to get ip-adresse aswell, but in fact Battle.net for example doesn't have one. I know that it requires to open ports: 6112-6119, 116 and 118, but no specific ip. Please help figure this out! I got to be able to host a game. The game is Warcraft 3; Frozen Throne. If you know the exact answer please answer me at [email protected] I really need help at this.
    Thanks!

The IP address required would be the one you assign the device that will be hosting Warcraft 3. This device will be on your local area network (LAN). In order for others on the Internet to access it, you will need set up your router for port forwarding/mapping.
Port forwarding/mapping basically takes two steps:
    - Assign a static IP address to a device on your LAN that needs to be accessed from the Internet.
    - Open port(s) in your Internet routers firewall.
What is the make & model of your Internet router? ...is it an AirPort or another vendor's product?

  • HT201320 What is incoming and outgoing mail server and server port number

What is incoming and outgoing mail server and server port number

    See applenerd504 previous reply:
These specifications that allow you to send and receive messages on your iPhone. If you are using iCloud Mail, Gmail, or another service listed in the selector in settings, they should be automatically configured. If not, you may need to look up certain numbers for your email service.
Putting it in slightly different terms:
If you are using a web-mail system like gmail (with a gmail email address) all the mail sending, receiving and management is done on Google servers. In these cases you will only need to have a working internet connection to be able to log in to the service to access its data.
Supplying mail sever names and port numbers should only be needed if you are using a traditional (non-web) email account where you are accessing the mail servers directly. This would be typical for a email account set up by someone like your ISP (Internet Service Provider), in these cases you will have to ask them for the appropriate settings.

  • How to change my password and my incoming and outgoing mail servers

Hi I have used Outlook Express for years and I know how to configure "everything" I need within the settings pages because their settings pages are all "logical" with everything out in the open.
However, Thunderbird "hides" their settings behind buttons and confusing screens.
There are many tutorials that explain how to set up Thunderbird from the beginning, and show how to set up a new email account. But I have not been able to find a tutorial on how to change my email account password "after" I have been using Thunderbird for awhile.
I also see no way to change the incoming and outgoing servers. For example, I have changed from one hosting company to another hosting company and I need to use the new mail servers from the new hosting company and I do not see any tutorials anyplace that cover ongoing or day-to-day activities with Thunderbird.
Can you please change your settings screens to make Thunderbird easier for new people to find these normal and necessary items?
Also can you please point me to a tutorial that shows me how to change my email account password and change my incoming and outgoing servers?
    Thanks so much!
    Edward

If you wan to create an account, you must the delete the existing account.
So take backup of your emails if your using POP3
Two ways you can do it
*Copy all the emails to Local folder
*Back up your Mail folder from your profile

  • I just bought this iPhone 4S second hand and during incoming and outgoing calls I can't hear the other person talk unless it's on speaker or if I have headphones in. I don't know what to do I've turned up my volume and checked my settings!! Need help

I Just bought a second hand iPhone 4S I am having issues with the hearing during incoming and outgoing calls, I have turned the volume up and checked my settings but I still have trouble hearing the other person speak. It works if it's on speaker or if I have headphones plugged in. I need help desperately!!!!! Any suggestions on what to do???

    Hey Itsanaasaunders,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues hearing sound while on a call (receiver wise, not speakerphone). The following resource provides troubleshooting steps for this symptom:
If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound quality is poor on iPhone - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203800
    Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty. Here's where the receiver is:
Follow these steps, testing after each:
    - Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
    - Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
    - While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
    Restart and update
    1. Restart your iPhone and test again.
    2. If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update to the latest version of iOS.
    Get more help
If you've tried these steps and there's still no sound or poor sound quality from your iPhone, contact Apple Support.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Selection of Distribution Rule in Incoming and Outgoing Payment

There is an option of selecting the distribution rule in Incoming and Outgoing Payment having transaction of Account type but the requirement is of having the selection of distribution rule having transaction of Customer and Vendor (Invoice wise and Payment on Account)

What is the purpose for distribution rules in Outstanding invoice list in incoming payment? I try to attach the analysis there and post incoming payment but it will not appear in Journal entries which defeat the main purpose.
The problem face by customer is that they had many outlets and finance department in HQ needs to monitor daily collection from each outlets.
The desired outcome by customer is:
Dr Bank  [profit center=Outlet A]   XXX
    Cr     Customer                                   XXX
Eventually print out reports in XLR as
                                     Outlet A     Outlet B    Outlet C
    Bank                          XXX            XXX          XXX

  • Dashboard scales for Incoming and Outgoing

Is it possible to make scales for Incoming and Outgoing messages the same?
Now it looks unnatural. See the picture: outgoing messages seems less than incoming (which is, of course, is not the case).
Understood, there are several metrics on one graph (counters, sizes, etc.). But it is really confusing if incoming and outgoing message counters in queue have different scales. (BTW It is not related to the error messages).

  • What are the incoming and outgoing settings to set up freeserve email accounts on ipad2

I have an Ipad 2 and am trying to set up email from an old Freeserve account in the UK, I have set this up and can receieve emails but cant send emails.

After many, many, frustrating hours trying to set this up on my Dad's iPad, I think I have found a solution. Thought I'd share it in case anyone else was still perservering with a freeserve email address.
    It basically involved
    - setting up a pop3 account (Settings/Mail,Contacts, Calendars/Add account/Other/Add mail account) with pop.orangehome.co.uk and smtp.orangehome.co.uk as the incoming and outgoing settings
    - letting it try to 'verify' those settings (which will probably fail)
    - if asked 'Do you want to try without SSL' (or similar), click no
    - Dismiss the window which says something like 'this account may not be able to send or receive emails' and save the settings as they are.
    - Go back into the account you have just set up and there should be some more settings to fiddle with - 'SMTP' and 'Advanced'.
    - In 'Advanced', switch 'Use SSL' to off and change the Server port to 110, then go back to the previous screen
    - Click on SMTP. It will probably show the primary server as smtp.orangehome.co.uk. After fiddling around with the settings for ages I decided to see what would happen if I used a different smtp server. I had previously set up a gmail account, so I tried smtp.gmail.com. For the record, this already had my email address as the user name, my gmail password, SSL on, Authenticaion as password and port as 587. Low and behold - it worked. I'm no expert but I assume this just means it is using the gmail 'route' to send an email rather than the freeserve/orange/EE route.
If you haven't got a gmail account to use, it might be worth setting one up just for this purpose.

  • HT1277 all of a sudden I am not able to send out mail. I have checked and rechecked my account information including incoming and outgoing server info.

all of a sudden I am not able to send out mail. I have checked and rechecked my account information including incoming and outgoing server info. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks

If you're having trouble sending mail, then either the SMTP (outbound) mail server settings — the server, the port, the user, the password, and whether SSL is in use or (unlikely) not — are incorrect, or the mail server is offline or has been reconfigured.
The SMTP (outbound) settings are in Preferences, but are buried rather deeply.  Select Preferences > Accounts > select the account > switch the outgoing mail server (SMTP) to Edit SMTP Server List... and then select the SMTP server from the list, and verify that the settings are correct with your ISP, and that your username and password are correct.
The required settings vary by your particular mail ISP; you'll have to check with the ISP for the server and login details.
To test settings, select Window > Connection Doctor > then (when the tests fail) show the details, and (if you can't sort out what happened) sanitize the settings and post the output here.
Caveat: do not repeat password tests with the mail server, as various mail providers can be configured to assume these are a password brute-force attack, and lock out repeated login attempts.
Caveat: never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever not-at-all enter a password when Mail pops up a dialog box with the "OMG YOUR PASSWORD IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE ENSURE YOU CANNOT LOG IN AGAIN!!!!!" dialog box.  (I'm paraphrasing that error dialog box slightly.)  The correct answer to that Mail.app password dialog box is almost always "cancel" button.  Passwords stored in Keychain generally don't get lost or corrupted, and trying random passwords as that dialog box encourages just gets you locked out of various servers, and...

  • Is it ok to have 1 nic configured with 1 listener handling incoming and outgoing email?

I'm reading about public and private listeners and i am wondering is there any harm in configuring 1 nic with 1 listener handling incoming and outgoing mail flow.
