I read somewhere people said that there are no HDMI to mDP, but I just found one. Would this not work? If so, then there is no need to buy those 150$ converters... I don't see why this wont work, they are both male connectors and thats what we need here... Someone please elaborate.

That is a m-DP to HDMI, not HDMI to m-DP. It only works in output mode and is for connecting the Mac to an external HDMI device.
There are some "black boxes" for converting other output forms to m-DP, but they are running about US$150 currently and do not always give the resolution you desire.

Yes, but only at 720 x 480 resolution. Some TVs offer higher resolutions and DVI ports where you can do a DVI to DVI connection. And actually there was a dongle which came with your Powerbook which supports S-Video via its S-Video port. Did you lose it?

I have just created an apple id. Will this now allow me to backup to icloud?

The apple id on my 4s is my husband's as he bought the phone. Everytime I imessage or someone imessages me, it comes up on his ipad, but not on my phone. He told me I had to create an apple id of my own for the phone. I have done this but how do I have it linked to my phone?
Also, will this then allow me to backup to icloud? Have not been able to backup since august, when I bought phone as there is not enough storage space on icloud, but figured this was because it was trying to use his id.

I believe your model iMac can address 3 GB RAM; the minimum for Lion is 2 GB - however, that is an absolute minimum for very light use. You would be much happier with a minimum of 4 GB.

IF youre talking about Keynote, I dont think any of the presentation software options allow you to "Add a slide" during a presentation.
Since your posting this in the iOS folder of the forums, we can assume further that you are using an iPad or iPhone as the presentation device. In that case, if you tap and hold on a slide during a presentation, you are offered a pen pallete that you can draw on the slides with, but once you hit "Done", it disapears.
As for the Contract, again nothing i know of allows you to do that directly from within the presenation.

How do I get this lock off of my screen that displays on the left of my battery?

Just want to know how to clear this lock off of my phone that displays on the left side my battery. I believe it hinders me from bringing my key pad up when trying to search for one. Unless it was something that I enabled.

I'm guessing that the icon shows a padlock with a circular arrow around it. That is orientation lock - prevents the screen from rotating. To switch it off - go to Control Centre (swipe up from bottom of screen) and press the icon in that screen. Close Control Centre by swiping it down

Sharing media across user accounts on the same iMac

My partner and use the same iMac but we have to different user logins. We are often at the same events and like to use the clips, photos or footage taken by the other in our iMovie projects. Is there an easy way to access those media files while working in iMovie?
We both set our movie and photo folders to allow sharing but this doesn't seem to allow access when we try to import footage from one of those folders.
Of course we could always drag and drop files to the Public folder but that seems like a way to loose files or become very unorganized.

Hello everyone
I would be interested in doing the same thing: let iMovie 8 store its media in the shared drive. Like that my wife and I (with two different logins) would have access to the same media and events.
As iMovie 8 doesn't let me chose where to store my media, I have copied the folder iMovie Events and iMove Project into the shared folder, then making aliases which I put in the account's place where the original folders were. Doesn't seem to work.
Any other suggestions?

I am trying to play a clip in a jspx page. I use an ADF media to embed the file and play the file by quicktime. I set the control display attribute to "all" or "typical" but the control does not display when the browser(FF) display the clip.

try adding mime-mapping in web.xml. Just a suggestion and I haven't tried this control.

Running Windows 7, all versions of Firefox beyond 3.6.0 will not access websites, showing Error 404 and displaying only the portion of the URL that follows the domain name

Choosing any of several dozen bookmarks, Firefox will show a screen reporting Error 404 and display only part of the complete URL (whatever follows the slant mark beyond the domain name). When going to a new site, such as provided by a Google search, the initial page may show up but clicking on links within that page again brings up the 404 error. My only solution has been to uninstall whatever new version of Firefox has been automatically downloaded and then re-install version 3.6.0, which works.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Will family sharing allow multiple Apple IDs to backup to the same Mac?

So currently, my family shares one Apple ID so we can share purchases. We also share the same iCloud account. I think that technically you can share one Apple ID for purchases and use multiple iCloud accounts, but that seems confusing.
Anyway, so my wife is getting a new iPhone soon and would like it if we didn't see each other's podcasts in the Podcasts app, etc, so I'm wondering if, now that we have family sharing coming, it would be a good idea for her to get her own Apple ID. However, we have one "Master iMac" that serves to backup all the iDevices in our home and has our shared family library of music, movies, etc. If she gets her own Apple ID, will she still be able to back her new iPhone up to this iMac or will she be forced to use her iCloud account for her phone's backup? iTunes on the iMac uses the current Apple ID, which we all share.
Apple IDs have consistently been the single most frustrating thing for us and the approach for sharing one ID has worked well. I wish Apple had come out with Family Sharing years ago. Anyway, now I want to make the transition as painless as possible.

I have Firefox 3.6. Firefox will no longer allow me to open additional tabs within the same window.

I've tried opening up Firefox in safe mode and restoring its original settings. This works for about 5 minutes and then it stops again. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Neither clicking on the open tab nor going to "file" and clicking "New Tab" works. I've also tried rebooting after each fix and that didn't resolve the problem either. I do not want to switch to 4.0 because its not compatible with Norton's.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons
