Will this configuration work: multiple soa nodes, but unclustered ??

We are currently on 11.1.1.4 version and 2 nodes cluster. We are running into cluster related racing issues within the BPEL product and the patches Oracle gave us do not work. One idea we are thinking is to take out the cluster but leave the two soa nodes there as two stand-alone weblogic managed servers.
What is your thoughts on this? Will this work?

Hi
1. Having 2 Nodes (soa_servers) without any CLUSTER is of no use and infact this may corrupt your entire ENV itself. So don't try this approach. It may work, but if you made any changes to any node, they are not replicated across and there will be a big chaos within server files.
2. To begin with, what issues/problems are you facing having 2 nodes in a soa cluster. Most of us in Prod and even in testing env will have soa_cluster with atleast 2 soa_servers spread across totally 2 different machines. It all works fine from Load Balancing, Fail over, Replication point of view.
3. Ideally, a soa cluster will have like 2 nodes (2 managed servers - soa_server1, soa_server2 spread across 2 diff remote machines). They are fronted by a Load Balancer. Means in front of them there will be a hardware or software Load Balancer. All user requests go to this Load Balancer which inturn connects the request to one of the 2 backend soa servers. If any of servers is down, user is not even aware of this. This is the ideal behavior. Load Balancer can be software balancer like apache http webserver or hardware load balancer like F5. Session, Data replication is all taken care of.
4. If you do NOT put, 2 soa nodes in cluster, what URL will you expose to end user? They had to directly access your managed server url. This is not something we want in a cluster Env.
I would recommend to address and fix Cluster issues. If you are not able to, then expose only one Single node and let users access that node only
Putting 2 nodes outside of cluster, you had to expose 2 urls to end users. This may work, but not recommended.

  • Will this configuration work for CS5.5?

Will this Dell work? Intel i7-2600? 16 GB dual channel DDRS SDRAM at 1333Mhz, nvidea geforce gt530? Want to buy Production Premium but have limited budget, don't need top of line computer performance, just workable ... All advice greatly appreciated. (I couldn't find in tech specs which video cards are supported.) Am also looking at Canon XF 100, which i think is supported by CS5.5, right?

    John,
The GT 530 is very slow. It has only 96 cores, crummy DDR3 video RAM, only 128-bit memory bus. Basically a GT 430 with a new OEM-only name on it.
The Quadro 4000 is a ripoff as far as Premiere Pro CS5.5 performance is concerned: It is basically similar in performance to the GTX 460 SE (not the regular GTX 460): Only 256 cores on the Quadro 4000 versus 288 cores on the GTX 460 SE. Worse, the Quadro 4000 costs five times more money than the GTX 460 SE.

  • Will this configuration work

    Hi all
I´m about upgrading my machine with new graphics so I was thinking of buying MSI Ge-Force GTX 275 896MB PhysX CUDA
Will this work om my mainboard? 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition
I´m wondering since the graphics is PciE 2.0

    GTX275 -> 219W (18.25A @12V), let me round that up to 19A
    E6700 -> TDP = 65W (5.4A @12V), let me round that up to 6A
    Board -> 0.5-1A @12V
all fans -> well, just count in 2A for all of them (probably a lot less in reality, but it is always better to round up a little)
HDDa -> 1.5A-2A each (probably somewhat less, depending on the drive)
    Now do the math:
19A+6A+1A+2A+4x2A=36A, your PSU can deliver up to 35A on the +12V rail, so this is going to be somewhat tight, especially when you want more headroom.
As the system will probably draw less than 36A on +12V under real working conditions (as this is only an estimation), the PSU will probably even work.  But let's suppose you are pushing it to the limit a lot (all hard drives doing something etc.), even @30-33A you still don't really have much headroom here.  The PSU will probably have to run hotter which further minimized its output capabilities and its life time.  The problem is, that if these PSUs suddenly die, they sometimes take other components with them.
You can give that PSU a shot and it will probably even work.  However, on the long run, there is a chance that you will run into stability problems or other issues.  The split rail design is not of much help here either (35A split into two +12V rails with a 20A current limit each).  You always have to make sure that all loads are evenly balanced onto both rails.  If the load on one rails exceeds 20A, the PSU will shut down, even if the combined power consumption on the +12V circuit is less than 35A.
In my oppinion, you should start looking for a somewhat stronger Single-12V-Rail PSU.  The Corsair VX550W for example, can deliver up to 41A on the +12V rail.  The already looks better.  The next level would be something like the TX650 (51@12V).

  • Will this configuration work? 10.5.3, OD, SMB

I've been playing with this for 5 days, and have come up with nothing but frustration, I will be greatly appreciative of everyone that can help me pin down a solid way to make this work.
    Environment:
New xserv 3x1TB drives-RAID5. DNS and DHCP is handled by another box, working properly. 30 Windows XP Pro sp2/sp3 machines. 10 MacBooks running 10.4.11/10.5.3
    1. Install OS X 10.5.0 fresh
Two HDD volumes. xserv HDD(30gb), and Data(1.8TB)
    Admin Account During Setup: tech
    Hostname: server.sub.example.com
    Advanced Mode.
    2. Install 10.5.3 Combo Update.
    Install any other Software updates.
    3. Check service box to Enable OpenDirectory and SMB in ServerAdmin (I'll worry about AFP later, let's just get the XP clients working)
    4. Change OD from standalone to OD Master in ServerAdmin
    Leave all the default values.
    Directory Administrator - diradmin
    5. Promote SMB from standalone to PDC in ServerAdmin
Use the diradmin account when prompted.
    Set domain name to sub.example.com
    Leave all the default values.
    6. Using Workgroup Manager, create groups in the LDAP/127.0.0.1 domain.
Also, assign groups as member of groups, as indicated by tabs.
    Domain Users---- -default group-

    7. Create Users in Workgroup manager.
Primary group is 20, OD Users.
    Add to respective groups.
    8. Setup Home directories on the Data volume.
Delete default shares, public, groups, users.
    9. Copy files to Data volume
4 Directories, with complex subtrees, that need to become sharepoints.
These are copied from a linux file server via smb.
    10. Disable roaming profiles
Add "logon path =" to the end of /etc/smb.conf
    11. Join each XP Pro client to the sub.example.com domain
    Authenticate with the diradmin user/pass.
This creates a computer account ending with $ in OD.
    12. Login to XP clients with OD U/P.
I want the following at this point:
Only members of the Domain Users group to be able to login to a workstation.
Home directories mounted as H: for each user.
Ok, this is what I have so far, and a list of questions:
-How do I properly create a sharepoint for Home Directories on the Data Volume? ( these should of course be secure to each user.
-(How can I change the default template/skel? as I'm not using these for mac users at this point and don't need that structure...))
-How do I set that up in workgroup manager?
-I want to start out with the 4 sharepoints I'm copying over being R/W/Full Control by all users in the Domain Users Group, I'll restrict access later. What POSIX permissions, umask's, or ACL's do I need to set how for it to work properly with SMB continually?
-How do I allow my XP clients to be able to see the groups that I setup in WGM? (ie, to add to local groups on the machine, or permissions to print etc.)
-If I add a user to the Domain Admin group in WGM, will he have local administrator rights on the XP workstation? How do I get that to work?

-How do I properly create a sharepoint for Home Directories on the Data Volume? ( these should of course be secure to each user.
Just on that one point heres what I did, I have almost the same setup as you and wanted to get homes off the system drive. It works perfectly.:-
    1) configure network automounts
Log in to Server Admin using local admin account.
Click 'File Sharing', then 'Share Points'
Select the destination folder (something like /Volumes/Data/Users )
    Click enable automount
    confirm AFP as the protocol
    Select 'User home folders'
    Click OK
    Click Save
Authenticate as diradmin if asked during these steps
    2) Configure users to use network homes
    Run WGM
Click accounts and make sure you are using OD
Click Users and select all the required users
Click the home tab and select the users share point you just created
    Click save.

  • Will this drive work in firewire?

I have a 80GB Western WD00BB-OOJKCO drive as my backup. If I upgrade to the new iMac will I be able to use this drive as a firewire and upload all my applications back onto my new iMac? I presently do my backup with Carbon Copy Cloner as a bootable backup.
I know I would have to purchase a firewire case for the drive, but will this drive work in a firewire case?
    Thanks

Don't see why not assuming you have all the files required by your applications fully backed up. Some applications install data outside of the Applications folder. Some record serial numbers into invisible files. If all the data are not properly transferred then you may need to reinstall some applications.
    If you are moving from a PPC to an Intel Mac, then I suggest reading the following;
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3 or G4 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
    Screensavers written for the PowerPC
    System Preference add-ons
    All Unsanity Haxies
    Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
    Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior (does not work), TechTool Pro (pre-4.5.1 versions do not work), SuperDuper (newest release works), and Drive Genius (untested) may not work properly on Intel-Macs. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.
Additional links that will be helpful to new Intel-Mac users:

Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode or copying the critical contents to CD and DVD or an external hard drive will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.
Basically the instructions you should follow are:
    1. Backup your data first. This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
    2. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
    3. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.
    4. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
    4. Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
    /Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)
    /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (* This is a very important file which contains all email account settings and general mail preferences.)
/Home/Library/Preferences/ copy any preferences needed for third-party applications
/Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
    /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data
    Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
Credit goes to another forum user for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

I brought a iPhone (A1429) unlocked, sent it as a gift to my mate in Arizona, she is on the Verizon Network which in CDMA Will this phone work for her or have I just wasted $900 :/ I have done all the research and to me it looks like it should work.
Can anyone give me a difintive answer please.

Yes but I have brought the A1429 where as the information you provided states that it's the A1428.
The unlocked iPhone 5 is model A1428. For details on LTE support see www.apple.com/iphone/LTE. The unlocked iPhone will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint. Learn more about the unlocked iPhone
And Apple websight also states that the A1429 is both CDMA and GSM here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3939#iPhone5

Yes, that RAM module will work, but the original 2006 Core Duo model has a maximum of 2 GBs of RAM. You would need a Core 2 Duo model in order to install 4 GBs. If you have the 2006 C2D model you can install 4 GBs, but only 3 GBs will be available for use.

  • Will this battery work for my laptop?

I have a laptop from like 2009. It's going to crap and I recently got a new one, but it still runs, albeit slowly on startup and everything, and I think it's because of the battery, as it says "Consider Replacing Battery" and when I unplug the charger it just shuts off, and it only charges to 51%. So what I want to know is will this battery work for my laptop? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007W1QBO4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AF7ENLFPN87DK
The battery right now says "Replace with HP Spare 593550-001 and says 2010/10. This battery says 593553-01, but it looks almost identical to my current battery. So will this get the job done?

    Hi,
What is the model of your computer ? (HP 2000 is a series, not a model). Please check the compatible list:
       http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=593553-001
By the way, slow booting up may not due to weak/faulty battery. Can it boot faster using AC ?

Can I connect my iPad mini to a data projector using a lightning to 30-pin adapter connected to a 30-pin to VGA connector? Or will this only work with a lightning to VGA connector?

The lightning to 30 pin adapter does not support video as per the item description in the Apple online store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter
This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported.
You will need to the Lightning to VGA adapter directly
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD825ZM/A/lightning-to-vga-adapter?fnode=3a
Or the Lightning Digital AV Adapter

iPad requires Wifi (or 3G /LTE) to connect to the Internet. You cannot connect a USB modem to the iPad.
You can create your own WiFi hotspot through your computer for your iPad to connect to, if your computer supports this functionality. All Wifi Macs and many Wifi PCs do. Check your computer manual for how to do it.

Remember though, that although you have warranty on this phone, it is only valid in India and NOT Canada, because you purchased the phone in India and iPhone warranty is country specific, so if you have problems with the phone, then you'll need to take it back to India to get it fixed.
If you will be in Canada for any length of time, then buy a new phone in Canada.  It will be guaranteed to work then and you will also have warranty cover.
