Will this CPU handle LR2.* and PS CS4?

I'm going to be heading out of town for nearly a month and thought of getting a Netbook to (basically) dump my 20D raws onto while I'm away from the home computer. Then I thought for a few dollars more I could get something small but with enough 'Oomph' in it to handle LR and CS4. So I'm considering this one...

(Gateway EC Series ULV 11.6" Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 1.4GHz Laptop (EC1803H))
I'm not sure where this fits in relation to a Pentium4 which is supposedly the minimum. Has anyone any experience with this Intel processor or may be able to give me some advice...other than go for an even more expensive laptop.
Thanks,
Richard W.

A Core 2 Solo is a single core version of a Core 2 Duo (fancy that!
). The "Core 2" is an improvement on the Pentium design, so it's a
step up.
I run LR 2.5 on a Pentium D (that's a dual core 64 bit Pentium), and
it's fine ... until you use the adjustment brush. Otherwise, for
cataloging, keywording, developing, using presets, etc, it's fine. So
a Core 2 Solo should be OK - as long as you don't want it as a
"primary" LR developing machine for more than "basic" developing.
However, laptop speeds are generally slower than desktop speeds.
Rendering 1:1 previews the first time, tho ... multiple minutes until
it finishes. Although you can still do some work, while it renders.
I've done CS4 on my Pentium D. Some things (like panoramas) can be
horrifyingly slow. Be aware ...
Get at least 4G of RAM, if you do.

  • Will this processor handle premiere and other adobe applications?

I am in the begining process of building a computer with the goal of handling a machine that will run smoothly as I use the more intensive adobe programs. I know video editing is generally the most intensive applications but I would also be running after effects, photoshop, and illustrator on this machine.
The processor I am looking at is an
    Intel® Core™ i7-4790K Processor
(8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz)
I know there is more to my cpu performance than just processor, but specifically looking at a processor will this handle my usage?
Is intel a trusted brand when it comes to Adobe?
    Thanks

Are you referring to the Adjustment Brush tool? Or something else?
Are you stating that you cannot see the pin (is that what you mean by "control points"?) at all (if so, then press letter H) or are you stating that pressing H doesn't work? Or something else?

  • Will this computer handle games well?

Will a 15" MacbookPro (the new model) with a 2.3Ghz i7, 8GB Ram, AMD Radeon 6750M(1 GB GDDR5)  and a 750GB HardDrive (5400rpm) be able to play games well?  I want to play games on OSX and bootcamp for windows only games and I am wondering how this computer would handle them.  This would be my first mac so any input would help me make an informed decisiton.  (if it helps I would be playing games on steam). Thanks!

Hmmm... I can tall you that I use Boot Camp to run WinXP (I don't use Win 7 because XP do his job well), I run Call of Duty, ARMA II and few more games. Some of them forced me to decrease some details but Games were playable. In your case you will have better CPU and 4x more RAM so it shouldn't be any problems with running games, programs etc.
Please also nottice that my computer is 4 years old and i'm able to run newest games on it (not on hight details of course)

  • Will this mac run garageband and if so what version? the mac i am considering is a Apple Power PC G5, Dual 2GHz Processors, 160GB hard drive, 2GB RAM, OS X 10.5.1 installed .

Hi, I am a newbie to mac's , but i am considering buying the following mac to hopefully run a version of garageband(though i am unsure as to the versions available and what will run on this mac?).
The mac is a power pc g5 with a 160gb hd 2gb ram osx 10.5.1 is installed(i am now aware that i can update this to 10.5.8 via apple) what verisons of garageband work best on this set up ?  the mac would come with a disc ilife08 though i am not sure if this has any music software on it?
    any help would be nice.
    Many thanks J

Thanks for the reply, i am interested in this mac to try out this platform....i understand what you are saying.....but i do not wish to spend too much money on something i may not get on with(even though people say macs are the best).
I thought that the price i can buy this mac(£100 all in) was a good entry level to look at this platform and if i like it i can always invest further money down the line in an intel based mac.
Can anyone advise if this spec can run the garage band on the ilife disc?
Is it possible on the version on ilife 08 to use appleloops?
    ANy help would be nice
    Many Thanks Jay

I don't yet have an audio interface. Any reccomendations and suggestions welcome. USB preferred, nothing flashy just something that does the job.

    Hi
For this to work, you would need to set up an Aggregate device using Audio MIDI Setup, and then to set Mainstage audio preferences to use this aggregate as the audio input device.
You might do better to get an audio interface with more than 2 inputs?

Download the latest version: Parallels Desktop 8.0.18483. Uninstall the one you have then install the new version. The uninstaller will either be in your Applications folder or on the disk image for the version you now have installed.
