Will this DVD drive will work with my indigo iBook?

So I found this cheap DVD drive, will it work in my indigo iBook? Can I install the normal blue thing of the cd or it doesnt fit? Can it work with the normal bezel it has? Thanks, I would like to put it to my indigo to watch DVDs!
More info on the drive http://www.titannotebook.com/product/components/storage/sd-c2302.asp

I should work. However, you'd be better off scanning the xlr8 database looking for one that has been proven to work. Search the model as 'Apple ibook' and the drive as DVD Rom and it will list a bunch of options.
The blue bezel can be modded to fit or the standard PC type bezel can be modded to fit. Here's some other links to look at...

  • Will This Creative Power Supply Work With The Apple iPod Ser

I am going on a trip and i am incharge of mp3 players and charging unfortunately i am the only one who has a Zen and every one else has an iPod so.... will this Creative Power Adaptor Work with all/some iPods Thx wbnghiMessage Edited by wbnghi on 06--200709:36 AM

I've never used an iPod, but don't they charge through their docks?
I doubt if it would work- very few Mac products are designed to be compatible with PC devices.

  • External DVD drive not working with Lombard G3 333

I have an external DVD drive that worked when I had 10.4, but had to reformat HD and now only have 10.3.9, and now the DVD drive does not work with DVDs, it will work with CDs and CDR media, but not with DVD media. My Lombard did not come with DVD originally and I am using a PC Card (Macintosh PowerBook DVD-Video PC Card For PowerBook G3 Series) and it worked before with 10.4, but not with 10.3, any ideas? Also have tried with 9.x, no go either. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, would it be difficult to add a DVD logic board to my Lombard?
    Joey

    xamdu,
I am reading and replying to this post after first replying to your other post, so a few of my previous comments are redundant.
Regarding the FireWire(?) USB 2.0(?) DVD drive: It is possible Tiger supported your DVD drive but Panther does not. I would give PatchBurn for Panther a try:
    http://patchburn.de/download.html
If the above is unsuccessful, take a look at this workaround:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20040330171655882
You can swap logic boards but it does require a lot of disassembly.
Since no version of OSX supports Apple DVD Player, I am assuming you have a third-party player like VLC installed to watch movies. If this is the case, the DVD Decoder PC card is not necessary. If booted to 9.x, you of course will need the decoder PC card but I did not know 9.x's Apple DVD Player supported external drives.

  • Will this DVD Drive work in a Lombard?

Hello my friend has a PB G3 Lombard running 10.3.9 with a 333MHZ CPU. It has a CD Drive in it, and I have a drive that i pulled from a Dell Laptop that had a bad logic board, well i took the dell housing off and found it is a HL Data Storage drive (which i successfully installed a HL drive in my powermac, so i feel good about this lol) anyway, can i put this drive in the Powerbook so he can watch movies and what not?

    Hi ze,
I can't say for sure if that drive will work in a G3 laptop like a Lombard or Pismo. I do know that the 333MHz Lombad did not come with the necessary goodies to work with a DVD drive without a PCM CIA converter card that enables it. I haven't looked for quite a while, but the cards were running about $50, a year or so ago on ebay.

  • Will the G-Drive Mini work with the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter?

I'm closing in on buying a new MacBook Pro, but the lack of FireWire on the new retina models is worrying me. I've seen a lot of negative responses in regard to the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter, specifically in regards to the G-Raid mini - most of them noting it's the dual drive that's the issue.
So would any of you happen to know - does a G-Drive mini work well with the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter? I will be doing a lot of heavy video editing if that makes any difference.

I found out after purchasing a Retina MacBook Pro that you can in fact use the G-RAID Mini, the way to do it is to have two Thunderbolt to FireWire adapters, plug in the first one to the drive and the computer, wait for the drive to start clicking, and then plug the other cable between the computer and the G-RAID on the second port.
This obviously only works if you have a rMBP as you need the two Thunderbolt ports.

  • Question about XPe, will this version of embedded work with SCCM 2012 R2

I was hoping someone has deployed XPe using 2012 R2 OSD. We have a image that is created by a vendor, they build our POS systems using ghosting (.gho) I have now been tasked to build a imaging process using their image and deploy using SCCM. Reading through
various blogs and looking at this a bit myself it doesnt look fun using any version prior to WES 2009. Does anyone have any ideas for me to get started. I havent worked with XPe....
    Thank you

    1. Create a task sequence which installs and captures an image of a standard WES client
    2. Deploy the captured image using a task sequence which also configures it and installs additional software
    3. Enable the write filter (FBWF in our case) after installation and configuration completes
Anyway, some SCCM steps should not be supported in WES, you need to test first.

  • Does External DVD Drive rm475e work with a Windows 8 Operating System

It worked fine with Windows 7 but doesn't seem to work with Windows 8?

    Hello Orchard80,
Thats a good question. You never know about Windows 8.1 and compatability.
There is no driver to download because DVD drives all use pretty much the same generic driver that comes built into Windows already. So I logically one would think that it should work on 8 as well.
The manual states that it is supported from Win-2000 through Win-7 only. But it came out before Win 8 also.
Is the drive recognized in the device manager under CD/DVD drives? Type in Device Manager in Windows 8 Search and select it from the list.
If not, the only thing I can think of is to run the Windows Fix-it Tool to see if it helps.
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us
If it still is NOT recognized after the Fix-it tool, then apperently the drive just will not work with 8.
IF it is recognized in the system but wont work, there is something else we can try but I will wait to hear back from you first.

  • DVD drive not working with win 8.1

Hi. I have HP pavilion 15-e020TU notebook. My DVD drive worked with windows 7 and windows 8. After upgrading to windows 8.1 , the DVD drive is not working. Windows device manager can find the DVD drive but shows a yellow error mark. I selected "Update driver software" and then "Search automatically for updated driver software" . Then the name changed from "Mitsumi CD drive" to "hp DVD A DU8A5SH". And still not working. I installed the firmware update from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv481en&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jum... But a command prompt shows "Error: no mitsumi drives found." What can I do now ?

  • External DVD Drive not working with osx 10.8.5

Hi, I'm having issues with my MacBook Pro 15" 9,1 working with an external DVD drive.  I am running OSX 10.8.5 and have been troubleshooting this issue for a few weeks.  The optical drive itself is the original drive that came with the computer, but I have put it in an external enclosure to free up space inside the body of the MacBook Pro.  The drive seems to function fine with CDs (playing and ripping - haven't tried burning yet) but is extremely inconsistent/barely functional with DVD playback.  Only one DVD in my collection properly works - others bring up error messages in multiple programs (VLC, Wondershare, the native DVD application, etc.) and another continuously loops back to the main menu each time "Play Feature" is selected.  These are a variety of DVDs that range from obscure to commercial and old to new (the oldest and most obscure is the only one that works).  After deciding that it is not the programs, I replaced the enclosure.  I still had the same exact issues.  I reset PRAM - no solution there.  I created a new user on my computer, installed the same media players and had the same luck.  I then used the same external drive on my old MacBook Pro 15" (5,4 running OSX 10.6.8) to see if it would work there.  It worked perfectly (with the native DVD application).  What is going on here and how can I get my new computer to recognize the external DVDs reliably and consistently?

older superdrives were Hitachi mfg, new ones are Panasonic.  Since yours is new and panasonic, indications are it wont work thru the enclosure on your NEW macbook, rather as you state on your older Mac.
until you said it worked fine on the old machine, the logical conclusion is a dirty lens on the laser since it reads CDs fine but most DVD not, since the track is much smaller.
Considering a new superdrive is only $48 on ebay ,or $78 for a new superdrive, your frustration might be too much, and just grab a new superdrive.
Your detailed information indicates a firmware incompatibility of the panasonic superdrive thru an enclosure
This is the new superdrive, made by panasonic as you have in your enclosure:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/221280580133?lpid=82
of course thats a lot of trouble buying that AND an enclosure, easier still is just getting a Mac superdrive inside its working enclosure designed for use as such:

  • DVD drive not working with Windows?

Hi, I have a 20" Intel Core Duo iMac running Windows XP SP2 via Bootcamp.
I tried burning a homemade DVD last night using several programs (Nero and DVD Shrink to be specific) and I was not able to choose the DVD drive as the target.
When I open My Computer, it shows as a CD Drive?
I know it at least reads DVD's because I've installed a few things using DVD's. And on Mac OSX it both reads and writes DVD's because I've backed up my stuff on a DVD-R before installing Bootcamp.
So it appears that it just isn't writing DVD's on Windows XP.
Is this a common problem or is anyone else having similar troubles?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I have the same problem with mine which is why I am searching this forum.
Were you ever able to resolve this?

  • Will this ram or memory work with my "Specific" Imac G5 powerpc 2.0 ghz?

Once again in a quick need to get some ram I let the idiot at fry's talk me into getting this particular ram for my Imac model# M9845LL/A G5 20 inch powerpc model the 2nd model. I bought this ram its the "Corsair" model# VS1GB400C3 Here is a link to a photo of it. Will it be compatible with my imac I didnt put it in yet as I was fearful of it causing a problem. I swear I tried everything to tell the sales guy it was for a IMac and that its picky. So any out there can tell me if this memory is okay for my actual "Model#" of my imac?
    http://www.buy.com/search/q/querytype/home/qxt/home/dclksa/1/VS1GB400C3.html
I really appreciate anyones help that really knows for sure the compatibility with my actual specific imac model above. Thanks.

Here is a link to the specs on the corsair memory I got sold by the salesman. I probably should have not listened to him. But I sort of did because I called the apple store and they Geniuse guy told me he has stuck all kinds or types of ram in my type of imac and they work.. But now I am starting to wonder because of some posts I have seen.

usually any 3.5" form-factor SATA-connected harddisk works in a Mac Pro.
So I don't see any reason for this harddisk not to work.

    Hi TheKMan,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Yes; it says it will work, but I didn't give us the size. I never really recommend anything from CompUSA, especially non-namebrand hardware. I have bought/seen a lot of CompUSAs products that don't work (need to be returned). The only thing that I like about CompUSA is that they have a great return policy.
