Will this fit on a 2011 MBP 13inch ?

500GB 2.5" Western Digital 'Scorpio BLACK' 7200RPM SATA 9.5mm Notebook HD 16MB Cache.
Is it possible to replace the stock hard drive with this hard drive in a MBP 13inch.

I originally purchased a WD Scorpio Black 7200750GB (WD7500BPKT) and the vibrations were very noticeable. I had to exchange it for a Hitachi. I can't stress how noticeable the vibration of this drive were as ompare to the original stock 5400 RPM drive.
I ended up with a Hitachi 7k500 7200RPM 500GB (HD20500 IDK/7K) drive and have been very happy with it so far. Vibration is consistent with the original stock 5400 RPM drive (which is virtually non-existent) and the speed increase was very noticeable. Battery-life does not appear to be affected.
Another contender was the Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid 7300RPM 75-GB, which I would have tried next if I wasn't satisfied with the Hitachi.

I had a 640GB HDD in my Early 2008 Macbook and it was just too much it would always freeze up the computer a bit for only a few seconds but ya. Then I realized that it was the size of the HDD that was causing it since the Early 2008 Macbook models can only handle a MAX od 500GB while the Early 2008 Macbook Pros could have a MAX of 640GB (Lucked out there!) lol But ya the Early 2008 Mocbooks can only handle a MAX HDD size of 500GB and that's it!! lol

  • Will this fit my Mac

I will upgrade my Harddrive but I don't know if this one Seagate Momentus SpinPoint ST1000LM024 1 TB will work?
    I got a Macbook Pro 13" medio 2009 150 GB.

No, capacity will have no effect on your MBP with the only exception that you will be able to store more data.
The only consideration you should contemplate is your backup strategy.  If you use Time Machine, you really need a HDD that is at least the same size as the internal HDD in your MBP.   This may require that you order a HDD for that application.
    Ciao.

  • Seagate Momentus HD fitted to new 2011 MBP 2.7 as standard

Was about to change the 500 GB HD in new MBP for a 7500 500 GB one when I saw it was a Momentus 500 GB but 5400 - so left it as it was as I guess this Momentus HD flies fast anyway.  But isn't latest Momentus HD rated at 7500 speed  - Momentus XT drives  - what gives here would have expected Apple to have fitted the most recent Momentus drive in their latest MBP ??    Still start up time of 33 secs and shutdown 3 secs is very fast due to SSD component in the Momentus.   How would the 7500 regular 500 GB drive compare bearing in mind this is a 5400 speed drive but with SSDS portion ?

I've put an XT in my MBP, and if you don't read the label, it looks exactly like any conventional drive. In my own mostly light usage, it's noticeably but not spectacularly faster than my original 250GB 5400RPM drive. If I'd known when I bought it what I know now, I wouldn't have bothered spending the extra $20-25 to get the XT. Besides not being worth the money for the limited benefit it gives me, it's on pace to have used up its Seagate-specified lifetime load-cycle allotment of 600,000 in barely more than 14 months — an extremely short lifespan for a hard drive. Seagate is willing to exchange it for a new one, but I'm going to wait until it gets closer to the threshold before sending it back, in hopes that a substantially better revision will be available by then.

  • 2011 MBP 13inch i5 Firewire Issues

    Hey all,
So I got my new Macbook Pro 13inch i5 yesterday, been using it for about 12 hours now. Runs great except for one thing. issue is the firewire port. I think its firewire 800, (correct me if I'm wrong)  But it does not seem to find any of my external HDD.
    This is my set up.
External HDD with Firewire 400,600, and USB. It plugs into the wall sits on my desk.
I connect then a 400 to 800 firewire cable from the external to the new MBP. Nothing happens.
I then connect 60 to 800 firewire cable from external to new MBP. Nothing happens.
If I connect via USB both ways it works just fine and dandy. But is very slow data rates, cause its USB.
Here is the thing... I have this exact SAME setup using the same cables and HDD to my iMac 27inch and it works just fine.   I'm thinking maybe its a bad firewire port on this MBP. Any other way of testing?  Would love to hear from people who may be experiencing the same issue. Its not everyday people use the Firewire port on a regular basis so test your's out and let me know.
    Thanks all,
    Jimmy

Bring it to an Apple store or AASP.

  • Will this fit our needs?

We are a local startup hospice in Arizona.
We currently need about 9 Macs networked together. Services that must be supported: file sharing, internet, email, calendar, iChat, and printing.
We are looking at 6 iMac's, 2 MacBook's, 1 Mac Pro, 1 Airport. Does 1 Mac Pro have the ability to handle this load? In the future we would like to add more desktops, how many can a Mac Pro handle by itself? What's the best configuration for the Mac Pro? Is there a better choice for a server than a Mac Pro? Budget is not much of an issue.
    Thanks,
    Michael

You will need to setup Open Directory to use the iCal Server. Your Mac Pro would be the Open Directory master. From what I have read, it is a very good idea to have a 2nd OS X Server to act as an Open Directory backup. I have not used Open Directory yet, but I thought it would be worth mentioning this.

  • Will this fit in my white poly macbook?

Hi i am upgrading my white poly 2.1 GHz MacBook. I have a 120gb hdd, and want to make it a 500GB.
Will the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 GB fit in my MacBook?
    Thanks

As long as it's a 2.5" SATA notebook drive that is not higher than 9.5 mm it will fit in your computer.

  • Will this hard drive fit my MacBook?

    Hi!
I've decided to upgradre my MacBook's hard drive when I install Leopard. I have a couple of questions. Hope some nice person will help me with some answers
First. Will this fit my MacBook:
    Hitachi TravelStar 5K160 - Harddisk - 160 GB - internal hard driwe - 2.5" - SATA-150 - 5400 rpm - buffer: 8 MB
Second. Will my old hard drive fit in some sort of box so I can use it as an external hard drive?
    Thanks alot!

Yes. If you want a little more speed and capacity consider the Hitachi 7K200 model - 200 GBs, 7200 RPM.

  • Will this card fit in my G5?!?

My original video card died - I am looking to buy a Radeon 9000 Pro Mac Edition ADC/DVI card w/128MB. Will this fit/work in my original dual 2.0 G5 AGP?
    HELP!
    //dennis

    Hi-
The 9000 is 2x/4x AGP compatible as far as I know. I don't recall it being 8x AGP compatible.
    Your G5 is 8x AGP.

downloading ML over 80 min's......how long will this go on???  MBP early 2011 running 10.7.3

I have a late 2009 MBP and I have noticed that just surfing the internet has caused the machine to run 20-30 degrees hotter. It used to hover around 40C (according to iStat...obviously it would climb under a load) when I was bumming around the net (no videos) and now it is anywhere between 60-70C doing the same stuff. I didn't really notice it till the other day when all I was doing was working on some bash scripts so at that point it was under very little load and it just seemed quite warm.

  • HT201250 If I install a new SSD, there is no recovery partition (Command-R at startup), will TM be able to format and install the OS on my 2011 MBP?

I have a new 2011 MBP that's still pretty clean application and data wise.  I have a new Vertex 4 SSD (256GB) to install and want to know whether I need to have that formatted before I install it or will I be able to use a Time Machine backup to perform the format and restore of the Lion OS X and applications?  Will I have to get an external SSD enclosure to format the SSD before I install it?  Despite the many threads...I am still a little confused as to the exact procedure to use.  Most of the threads say use the recovery partition (well if the SSD is new, not formatted) where does this recovery partion reside?  Please use the KISS principle when responding...

The only negative to not having the original drive will be the work needed to reinstall all the apps and reconfigure to your liking. You will also have to decide whether to stay on Lion (which you should update to 10.7.4, BTW) or bite the bullet and take a leap of faith on Mountain Lion.
In either case, to simplify matters you would do well to concoct a Lion or ML bootable installer on a USB stick. In either case, you need to get the corresponding installer downloaded onto the hard drive and, instead of running it to execute the install, extract the coveted InstallESD.dmg image from which you construct the bootable installer. See here for details: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17782820#17782820  The procedure applies the same to both of the latest cat flavors.

You have 10.6 on that machine, I suggest you stick with it for performance, third party hardware and software reasons as long as possible.
Consider 10.8 (not 10.7) when it's released, because 10.7 and 10.8 will require a new investment in software and newer third party hardware as it requires newer drivers the old machines won't have. (forced upgrade because of software, really nice of them)

1: Software Update fully under the Apple menu.
2: Check the status of your plug-ins and update (works for all browsers) also install Firefox and see if your problems continue. You should always have at least two browsers on the machine just in case one fails.

  • Will this RAM work in MBP 15inch

Will this ram fit our 15 MBP bc this is another great deal
    http://www.frys.com/product/5468099

I tried using the memory finder on the Frys' site and the link to the Apple page errors out. Do you really want RAM from someone who can't keep an Apple RAM link working? I buy a lot of stuff from Fry's retail store but not RAM. Even in-store, they seldom have proper Mac memory charts.
Like SIG says, post more details about your machine to get better advice on finding the right RAM. The easiest way is to do "About this Mac..." and then click "More Info..." in the resulting window. You'll get the System Profiler screen; copy the info on the first screen and paste everything except your machine's serial number into a response. For example, doing that with my MBP gives this info:
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.2 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP31.0070.B05
    SMC Version: 1.16f10
    Serial Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Someone can look at this and tell exactly which model you have and what RAM it takes.

  • Will this RAM fit ?

Will this RAM be supported in a 2010 MBP ?
Only difference I can see is that standard RAM is 1066mhz and this is 1333mhz.
    http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/laptop-memory/ddr3-sodimm/ddr3-sodimm/ocz- ddr3-pc3-10600-ddr3-value-sodimm-8gb-edition.html
And does anyone know of any other memory providers that make RAM to fit a MBP ?

204 pin looks like it would fit, however I think what you are looking for is PC8500 DDR3 1066MHz 204 Pin?
You can read more on bus speed and overclocking. Depends on what you are primary using your computer for. You can decide for yourself, google "1066mhz and this is 1333mhz."
