  • Will this PSU worK?

    Hi,
I've just got a new MSI Geforce 4 Ti 4200 4x 128M grahics card and have installed it with a fresh installation of Windows XP_SP1.
I haven't put it through the paces yet and played any games but before I do I would like to know if it's going to do my system any harm as I only have the following PSU:
350W Enermax EG365P-VE which if I have followed the threads in this forum comes in a little low on it's combined +3.3/+5 V at 185W.
Is this value close enough to the 200W that is reccomended that I will be OK? If I keep this PSU what harm will I do to my system?
    The rest of my system:
    Athlon XP 1700
    Epox EP-8K7A+
    256M DDR RAM
    2 x Hard Discs
    1 x Zip Drive
    1 x CD-RW
    1 x CD
    SBLive 5.1
    Haupage TV Card
    3Com Network Card
    Many thanks

the 350 enermax can be frustrating as it will work in one set up but not another, its right on the power border line and like any thing one psu gives a bit more than another, trying its only way to tell
you will not do any permenant damage

  • Will this setup run okay and audio interface advice please!

Okay, please forgive me any stupid comments. I am merely a humble musician been thrown into the deep end by some friends looking for a sound tech for their show.
Will all this play nice with each other in this setup?

I don't yet have an audio interface. Any reccomendations and suggestions welcome. USB preferred, nothing flashy just something that does the job.
    Thank you!

    Hi
For this to work, you would need to set up an Aggregate device using Audio MIDI Setup, and then to set Mainstage audio preferences to use this aggregate as the audio input device.
You might do better to get an audio interface with more than 2 inputs?

  • So will this PSU work.

Does say it suports amd k8, most dont.
Should i be safe and step it up for another 20 bucks and get the noise takers, or am i just paying for a fan control feature. I dont realy need all that.

Looks pretty good to me. As long as it has the 4-pin connector for CPU power, that's the most important...after reviewing some quotes, I feel it has good numbers: Quote
With plenty of power on the 12v rail, tidy looking shielded ATX, aux and ATX +12 cables (plus one molex), whisper quiet operation and a decent price how can you go wrong? Don't believe the people claiming its no better than a generic PSU, dirty power can spell death for any rig, overclocked or otherwise.

Best PSU I've had, runs stable and I have plenty of room for upgrades. If you're thinking of getting a good, stable, and powerful PSU from a trusting company, then the 460W ENERMAX is among the best!...

  • Shite, will this PSU do it?

    http://www.metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n=0&path=reviews/nb_forton400/index_eng
It's already bought. Im worried about the 16amp's on the 12v rail.
Edit: Im going AMD 3500+ , Neo2 plat, 9800 pro, 1 gig ram.

Using  JWG duel fan 400w with 17amps on 12v,  seems cool and stable.
Just dont connect a bunch of fans or extrra stuff.
I feel u could tho if u want, just check to see how hot the air is comming out the back,  it should stay somewhat cool.
I think they say have at least 20a, is so when u overclock you aint stressin.   But i could be rong.

  • Will this be compatible with a HP ENVY H8 1520t?

    GeForce GTX 660 2GB
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130967&cm_re=660-_-14-130-967-_-Product
Will this be compatible with a HP ENVY H8 1520t with the motherboard, and work! Mostly becuase i got a r9 270x and i hooked it up and i got no dysplay.

Card should work fine. Just disable secure boot before installing new card. Then again if the card is fully compatible with UEFI and system. You can just pop it in and it should fire up. Worst case it does not and you have to put old card back in. Then disable secure boot and put new card back in. Also. Since it is a CTO build. Power supply wise. If you picked the 460w or 600w psu. It will work just fine. The 300w though is completely out though.

  • Will this configuration work

    Hi all
I´m about upgrading my machine with new graphics so I was thinking of buying MSI Ge-Force GTX 275 896MB PhysX CUDA
Will this work om my mainboard? 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition
I´m wondering since the graphics is PciE 2.0

    GTX275 -> 219W (18.25A @12V), let me round that up to 19A
    E6700 -> TDP = 65W (5.4A @12V), let me round that up to 6A
    Board -> 0.5-1A @12V
all fans -> well, just count in 2A for all of them (probably a lot less in reality, but it is always better to round up a little)
HDDa -> 1.5A-2A each (probably somewhat less, depending on the drive)
    Now do the math:
19A+6A+1A+2A+4x2A=36A, your PSU can deliver up to 35A on the +12V rail, so this is going to be somewhat tight, especially when you want more headroom.
As the system will probably draw less than 36A on +12V under real working conditions (as this is only an estimation), the PSU will probably even work.  But let's suppose you are pushing it to the limit a lot (all hard drives doing something etc.), even @30-33A you still don't really have much headroom here.  The PSU will probably have to run hotter which further minimized its output capabilities and its life time.  The problem is, that if these PSUs suddenly die, they sometimes take other components with them.
You can give that PSU a shot and it will probably even work.  However, on the long run, there is a chance that you will run into stability problems or other issues.  The split rail design is not of much help here either (35A split into two +12V rails with a 20A current limit each).  You always have to make sure that all loads are evenly balanced onto both rails.  If the load on one rails exceeds 20A, the PSU will shut down, even if the combined power consumption on the +12V circuit is less than 35A.
In my oppinion, you should start looking for a somewhat stronger Single-12V-Rail PSU.  The Corsair VX550W for example, can deliver up to 41A on the +12V rail.  The already looks better.  The next level would be something like the TX650 (51@12V).

  • IS this PSU............

    Hi everyone
I have recently purchased an MSI neo4 platinum SLI mobo with 3200+venice and OCZ rev2 platinum 2x512 DDR400 RAM with the sole purpose of getting a high OC with stock cooling.
I purchased this PSU along with this setup: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=876412&CatId=1079
this is a 500w PSU with 34A on the 12v rail, i have read many reviews that showed the PSU to be very good, the only probelm is that it has a 20pin ATX connector.
So do u think the mobo will have any problems running with a 20pin instead of 24pin connector? would using an adapter make a difference?
I havent recieved the parts yet, but i am getting worried that the 20pins would affect the OCing.
    thx

If I were writing this review on sheer good looks the Ultra X-Connect would be a perfect 10, but we do have to factor in a few more things to add a bit of legitimacy to the whole thing.  So let's start with the power supplies power capabilities, looking at one rail is all that is necessary and that is +12 @ 34A. This is enough horse power to operate any of the modern boards along with a top of the line video card and a few little extra tossed in for fun.
Now there is the stability factor, running two program for 30-minutes that both demanded 100% CPU utilization and the biggest swing in voltages was 0.17 volts. That is enough to convince me.
If there is one small area I would like to see addressed that is the inclusion of either 24-pin cable or including the 20-in to 24-pin jumper and not forcing the customer to purchase one since this can make for some very bad PR when someone comes home and finds out their new computer won't work without the proper cabling.
    Otherwise...for that price...give it a go!!!

  • Will this ram or memory work with my "Specific" Imac G5 powerpc 2.0 ghz?

Once again in a quick need to get some ram I let the idiot at fry's talk me into getting this particular ram for my Imac model# M9845LL/A G5 20 inch powerpc model the 2nd model. I bought this ram its the "Corsair" model# VS1GB400C3 Here is a link to a photo of it. Will it be compatible with my imac I didnt put it in yet as I was fearful of it causing a problem. I swear I tried everything to tell the sales guy it was for a IMac and that its picky. So any out there can tell me if this memory is okay for my actual "Model#" of my imac?

I really appreciate anyones help that really knows for sure the compatibility with my actual specific imac model above. Thanks.

Here is a link to the specs on the corsair memory I got sold by the salesman. I probably should have not listened to him. But I sort of did because I called the apple store and they Geniuse guy told me he has stuck all kinds or types of ram in my type of imac and they work.. But now I am starting to wonder because of some posts I have seen.

The computer should take a standard ATX power supply unit (PSU).  I suggest measuring the existing PSU and compare the measurements to the one in the links.  If the measurements are the same, it should fit.  I don't know anything about the brand, however.

  • [GeForce 6] will this 8x card work on my 4x agp slot

    I j upgraded from a fx 5900xt and  I just purchased a msi nx6600gt-vid128 card( agp) .  I have a p4 2.2 , 1gig rd ram and a 400 front side bus (p4 lexington motherboard). I have 2 questions
    1) will this 8x card work okay on my 4x agp slot.  The packaging says that the card requires a 8x  compliant  mainboard, but tech support say they are backward compitable to 4x agp slot.  tOon newegg.com  where i bought it is says it is a 4x/8x card. I am confused .  my fx5900xt was a 8x card and worked on my 4x slot.
2)Is driver 71.89 okay to use with this card.  I heard 77.72 has problems. what about 77.50 or 77.77 drivers

any agp x 4 board should be fine
just it will run a percent or so slower than in a x8 board
all you need to do with 77.72 is go in drivers

  • Opinions about this PSU

    Hi everyone!
I want to know opinions about this PSU, a Topower True 320W, it cost a half than an Antec True 430, and has the same values for 3.3, 5 and 12v. Here are the details
    http://www.topower.com.tw/home/atx12v_320p4.htm
For what I've seen on THG website, seems to be a good one.
    Specs:
    DC Output +3.3V +5V +12V -12V -5V +5VSB
    Max        26A  32A  15A 1.0A 0.8A 2.5A
    Peak       28A  41A  19A 1.0A 0.8A 2.5A
    Combined     180W   180W  12W  4W 12.5W
                    300W            28W
    Peak Load 420W/60secs
Efficiency 70% minimum at 115 VAC, 320W output
Note: I'll use it at 230 VAC, I don't know if this will change any values of the above.
    Thanks in advance

Stilup is right. Skimping on a power supply will only bring you more headaches than it's worth. Buy a Good brand name supply 400+ watts, and you will never run into tons of problems that others have, trying to run a hi power system with a $29.95 power supply. Every time you up the cpu ,you need more power. Bigger video card? more power. Add a drive? more power. If you buy a marginal supply in the beginning, you may get it to run your system, until you add something. I have seen hundreds of posts that when they finally divuge what the specs of thier supplys, it is painfully clear what the problem is. All my systems run at least a 400+watt supply with at least 220 combined watt. The exception to this rule, is True power supplys, that supply each single rail seperately ,so the combined thing doesn't apply. BD51

  • Can I have iTunes music on my SSD and an external drive? How will this affect syncing to iOS devices?

I don't have space to keep my entire iTunes library on my SSD. Currently I have my iTunes library split as follows:
SSD: Contains a subset of music, apps, books, etc. New items usually get added here.
External HD: Contains all of my music and iTunes media (including apps... so many apps). It's usually missing the most recent items added, due to the fact I don't plug it in so often.
I ran into a problem maintaining these two libraries earlier while syncing my iPhone. When I tried to sync the iPhone with the SSD library, it would delete apps off of my phone because they weren't contained in the iTunes library there, even though I had the same base .itl file for both the SSD and the external libraries.
What I want to do is set it up so that I maintain a core of music on my SSD and the stuff I don't listen to as often on my external hard drive. I also want to keep all the space hogs (movies, apps, etc) on the external as well. However, I want this to appear as one seamless iTunes library and I DON'T EVER WANT ANYTHING DELETED FROM MY PHONE WHEN I SYNC IT. I want to be able to sync my phone without worrying that apps will be deleted and I'll have to restore them from iCloud and reset all the settings, sign in, etc. Right now I am backing up to iCloud, but my understanding is that iTunes will still delete things from my phone if they are not available in the library.
My question: How do I accomplish this? I have a lot of metadata in my iTunes library that I don't want to lose (playcounts, ratings, etc).
I currently have this:   SSD: .itl file pointing to music on the SSD, a mixture of iTunes media (some that I want easily accessible, some I don't)
External drive: .itl file pointing to music on the external drive, all of my iTunes media (except for anything I may have added to the SSD)
I think I need this:       SSD: .itl file pointing to music on the SSD and the external, music that I listen to often
External drive: music that I don't listen to often, things that take up a lot of space
My thought process is that I will need to somehow move music from the external to the SSD while maintaining the pointers so that iTunes knows where they are. For this I have unchecked "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media Folder When Adding To Library," and to maintain the pointers and move the songs, I'm thinking of using Doug's Applescripts for "Relocate Selected:" http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=relocateselected
Once I have the songs split across these drives, I'm going to copy the .itl file from the external to the SSD and boot it up to see if it works.
Two things: 1.) Will this approach work? Can I maintain my library across separate drives this way and have it be seamless? I understand I won't be able to access the media on my external hard drive when it is not plugged in (duh), but...
2.) Will it affect syncing? When my external isn't plugged in, will iTunes try and delete things from my iPhone? It should still be able to "see" them, it just won't be able to access them. Will I have to turn off syncing apps while syncing with my external device unplugged?
Thanks very much for any help and insight! It is greatly appreciated as I deal with limited storage space and an expanding iTunes library.

This is all just a partial answer since details will depend upon how you want to do it.

You'll need to get it all onto one iTunes collection on your Mac Pro, then sync the devices to that.  iTunes only lets you transfer purchases from a device, otherwise you have to use third party software.
I guess you could also look into getting iTunes Match.
