Will this type of crack be covered by the warranty?

I discovered some sort of crack on the screen of my macbook pro today. It was not visible from the angle I sit at so I have no idea how long its been there. I was standing up looking down at it when I saw the crack. Its a very visible crack from that angle and i dont know how I'm just now seeing it. It hasnt left my desk in four days. At first I thought maybe it was hair so when I tried to "pick it up" it from the end of the crack, the crack got longer from the light pressure. I cant feel the crack, the screen is still smooth to the touch. It looks to have started on the top black part on the screen 2 1/2 in to the right of my camera. I dont recall dropping it. I'm not sure how this could have happened. Will I have to pay if I want it fixed? Any ideas of a possible estimare?

Cracks are not generally covered, since they pretty much have to be caused by some kind of accidental abuse, and such things are excluded from the warranty. As to how much it will cost, only Apple can tell you that. Any estimate you get here may be wrong, as prices change and different machines have different screens.

  • Is a cracked screen covered under the one year warranty

Is a cracked screen covered under the first one year warranty on an ipod touch?

    I'm afraid not:
What type of damages are not covered by my warranty?
Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, liquid damage, disassembly, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications. Please review the warranty for further details. When a service is not covered under the warranty, Apple will return your original iPod to you without providing service, and may hold you responsible for shipping costs, plus any applicable sales tax.
An iPod that is ineligible for warranty service may be eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service. For example, an iPod that has failed due to damage or liquid damage is ineligible for warranty service but eligible for OOW service. However, certain damage is ineligible for OOW service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. Please see Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.

  • Powercord not working. is this covered in the warranty??

just a few minutes ago the light on my power cord stopped lighting up. if i wiggle the cord around in one place the light goes on for a second. so in other words, i need a new one. is this covered in the warranty that comes with the mac when i bought it?? the warranty is still valid but i dont have the extended one. what number do i call to report this??
    plzzzz help!!
    thanx

Yes, it's covered - here are contact numbers for AppleCare. Note that it may not be the cord that's at fault, though, it could be a power connector within the MacBook. Apple will probably send you a new cord (and a box to return the old one) to test whether a replacement works.

In the extremely unlikely event that the screen is damaged due to a manufacturing defect, it would be covered under the warranty. You would have to prove that to Apple that it is a manufacturing defect and not accidental damage. You can read this to see what you replacement options are.

  • Am I covered by the warranty for a cracked screen on ipad mini?

Bought an ipad mini just over 2 months ago & cracked the screen tonight - am I covered 4 getting the screen repaired?

Accidental damage isn't covered by the warranty. If you are in the US and have AppleCare+ then I believe that you will be covered for 2 occurences of accidental damage for a $49 excess each time, otherwise you will need to pay - in the US the price for repair (i.e. replacement) for the iPad Mini is (from here) $219, and here in the UK (from here) £216.44

I think you will need to contact the Toshiba to move the warranty to the other person who bought this notebook.
    >Also do I need to provide them with the orginal receipt?
Yes, I think this will be necessary.
Here you can find the Toshiba EU warranty registration page:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/vpoWarrantyRegHome.do?service=EU&LNG=null
There is a area called: Review or update previous registrations.
I think you could update the registration providing new data of the person who bought the unit

  • The volume button is stuck on my (6th generation) nano, how much will it cost to get it fixed and is it covered in the warranty?

As it says up top, The volume button got stuck. So, how much do you think it will cost me to get it fixed?
And is this something that is covered under the warranty?
I mean, the rest isn't broken or anything and is in working condition, I just need the volume button fixed.

The Apple warranty is one year.  If you purchased your Nano less than one year ago, it is covered by the warranty.  If purchased more than a year ago, it is not covered by the warranty.  Apple has a flat rate ($80, plus tax) for an out-of-warranty Nano repair.

  • Will the Apple Headphones be covered under the warranty?

    Hey,
My left ear bud keeps buzzing. Will it be covered under the warranty? I got my iPod Touch 2 weeks ago and I really don't want to buy new apple headphones. Please help I don't have a JOB and my parents are cheap! And I don't want to call apple for nothing! So are the headphones covered or am I 'SOL'?

They are covered by your warranty.
You can either stop by an Apple Store Genius Bar http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
Or you can order a replacement online http://www.apple.com/support/serviceassistant/overview.html

  • My Macbook pro charger has frayed. Is this covered by the warranty?

Basically, my mac Charger cable has burned/frayed near the large white unit, and I was wondering if this is covered by the warranty? My warranty ends in a few days...

Bring the unit into an Apple store genius bar for evaluation.  Only they can give you a definitive answer.
    Ciao.

  • If my macbook overheats playing wow, will that be covered by the warranty if any damage occurs

will any damages be covered by the warranty if it overheats during a game?

Of course. As it's not an accidental damage (you didn't do anything special to make the MacBook fail), it's covered by warranty.
It's normal that the MacBook overheats while playing games because they require CPU and GPU, and those are the parts that more heat generate. You can set a higher fan speed with smcFanControl while playing these games to keep the MacBook cool

  • If I update to 7.1 will this delete apps that were pulled from the app store? (Flappy Bird)

I'm wondering when the time comes to update to 7.1, will this delete apps that were pulled from the app store (in this instance, Flappy Bird)
    Thanks so much.

You should always have a recent back up of your phone. If you have a copy of the app on your computer, you can always restore it to the device.

  • Is this covered under the warranty?

A month ago my iPhone was stolen. A teacher just confiscated it from the thief. However the glass on the screen and back were destroyed, but the LCD still worked. The battery was dead and when I tried charging it, it wouldn't. Is repairing this or getting a new one covered under the warranty?

    No. Only manufacturing defects are.

  • Is battery replacement covered under the warranty?

I've got an ipod touch and the battery is really bad now, needs to be replaced. Under the service page it says that it'll cost me £59 for battery replacement. However I still have my 1 year warranty until May 2012. So does the warranty cover the battery replacement or not ?

    RicardoCC wrote:

    I'm not sure that's correct.
Warranty covers manufacturing defects, including a defective battery, but it does not cover the replacement of a battery that has come to the end of its working life due to use. I suggest thilakshan that you check this page http://www.apple.com/batteries/replacements.html which explains this (although this maybe the page you have already seen).
Another point to consider; there have been several posts in these discussions about poor battery life after updating the iOS. Perhaps you should check out some of those posts and make sure your problem is not that. After all, if you send it in and Apple say there is no problem with the battery (because it's the short-life-after-update problem) you will be no further forward.
