Will this work on a Mac running windows

Hi,
Once a year I have to enter various data through a web page which I log into. However, this only works on a windows. If I try logging in on my old and trusty mac it says that I cannot proceed because I am using an unsupported operating system and won't let me enter any details.
Is it guaranteed that this web page would "work" assuming I install and boot up in windows XP and run internet explorer? (this is what I do on a PC (unsurprisingly) and it works)
Thanks.

Yes it will work as you have described above.

I recently bought some new albums and can't play them on my ipod

I just encountered the same problem on my 2 month old MBPro.  I found a work around by changing USB ports.  As for the actual cause or the reason why that worked, I dont know.  The USB port I was using works fine with my phone or other USB devices.

  • OS X lion USB Thumb Drive - will this work on new Mac Mini or MBA (2011)?

    Hi All,
Not to be confused with the other similar posts, I am interesting in only clarification of what build comes with the USB Thumb Drive now available on Apple Store - will this work with new MBA and Mac Mini?
    Thanks,

From what I have read about the usb installer, it is not intended for you to try booting from the stick after wiping your hard drive. You are to click on the installer
You may be correct, but this statement is quite confusing in that context:
    Important Note
When you install OS X Lion using the USB thumb drive, you will not be able to reinstall OS X Lion from Lion Recovery. You will need to use the USB thumb drive to reinstall OS X Lion.
So, if the Thumb drive is supposed to take the part of the Recovery partition, it seems that it should be able to boot. However, the license agreement still requires an Apple computer running Snow Leopard, so maybe it isn't bootable.

  • Will this work on a Mac?

    Hi,
The following appears as a row of circles and bullets in a Windows ExtendScript alert box:
    alert ("●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌●◌");
Does it appear like circles and bullets on the Mac as well? I'm writing a script that uses these characters and the question is whether it will work for a Mac user as well.
    Many thanks,
    Ariel

    Hi Uwe,
Thank you very much for trying it out. But in fact the result isn't so good for me. Take a look at the screenshot below of the script I'm writing. On the left is a listBox that lists all the paragraph styles in the document. The user can double-click on a style to select/deselect a style. (In the screenshot, AWTitle and a few others are deselected. AWEstimate is selected and others are selected).
The way I implemented this was simply to add to the beginning of the paragraphStyle name string a bullet or a circle. But in your screenshot on the Mac, the circles are much larger than the bullet, so it's not going to look to good.
Is there a way I can access a simple checkbox glyph -- one checked, the other unchecked? Or full and empty bullets that are the same size?
    Thanks,
    Ariel

  • Will this work on my Mac?? (RAM)

YEARS long question, I know. I can't seem to find the correct answer though. I have a late 2005 G5 Power Mac Dual 2.3ghz. I want to upgrade the RAM. I'm still stuck on the SPD or whatever it is. Whether the 4-4-4 timing is correct or not.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141241
This RAM above matches perfectly with what I have installed now, except for the 4-4-4 timing. When I go to Crucial, Crucial doesn't even recommend PC2-4200, but instead 5300 & 6400. So, I'm confused on what will work and what won't. Someone explain, please! Thanks!

Hi! I trust OWC so look HERE. The very late 05 machines had PCIe expansion slots and the earlier ones had PCIx slots. The later 05 machines use ddr2 memory. Read the info on OWC site and you'll figure it out. I just bought 16 gigs for my quad late 05 machine. Tom

  • How come a USB will work with both Mac and Windows (as in that there are already files from Windows and Mac can still read and write onto it) but a external Hard Drive won't (as in there are files from Windows on there but Mac can read but not write)?

I have a Seagate Drive that I'm hoping to copy some movies from my Mac onto (because it only has a 512 SSD and I'd rather keep that empty and handy for more readily needed files) but it won't work. It shows up as a drive when connected (with the orange USB drive icon popping up) and is appropirately labeled "FreeAgent Drive", but when I try to copy files onto it it won't work. There are already windows files on there, such as some windows backups and lot's and lot's of pictures and videos. However, I have several USBs which already have windows files on them (namely movies, music, and other stuff) and copying and stuff works fine. Why won't it work with this hard drive and would work with USBs? Please help me out here guys, I am not experienced with Hard disks and formatting and stuff like that. 10 points for whoever helps me out the most. Thanks.

We will need to reformat your EXT, but it will then work on both Mac and Win
Connect the drive to your Mac, open disk utility
Go to the partiton tab and select '1' ... format should be ExFAT ... in options select MBR
    Format the drive
It should now work on both OSs; report back

  • I have downloaded trial for Windows English version, but can't open the Captivate_8_LS21.7z file. I have 32-bit. Will this work or shoudl I redownload?

I have downloaded trial for Windows English version 1.45GB.
It has downloaded but I can't open the Captivate_8_LS21.7z file.
    I have 32-bit. Will this work ?

    Hi There,
In order to download / install Captivate 8 32 bit, you have to download 2 files ( .7z and .exe ) at same location/ folder.
Once both files downloaded completely then you have to run .exe file and it will extract .7z file first and then it will initialize the installer. You do not have to open .7z file.
Let me provide you the download links of Captivate 8 32 bit :-
Open the link mention below in any Web Browser say Internet Explorer
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=captivate
Sign in with your Adobe id and Password, then you will be redirected to download Web Page of Captivate 8.
Do not click on Download. Kindly let that window open as it is.
Now Copy and paste the link mention below in the new tab/window of the same Web Browser in which you have opened the above link.
    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/8/win32/Captivate_8_LS21.7z
    Then Save the file.
Do the same for the link mention below and save this .exe file as well.
    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/8/win32/Captivate_8_LS21.exe
Make sure both the files (.7z and .exe) save/download at the same location/folder.
NOTE: Wait for both the files to finish download and then run the .exe file.
Once you run the .exe, it will start extracting the .7z file and will provide Captivate 8 folder on your desktop which will contain setup.exe. Run this setup.exe to install Captivate 8.

  • Transferring iPhone backup from PC to Mac - will this work?

    Hi,
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and am almost done with transferring everything from my PC to my Mac after a long full day and a half of backing up, reformatting external hard drives etc.
I have read to transfer an iPhone backup from PC to Mac you need to do the following:
If you are a Windows user, open the Start menu, click on "Computer" and then navigate to the "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" directory.
    And then:
Click on the "Finder" icon and navigate to the "Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup" folder on the Mac.
I did the first step just fine, but when I tried to find the folder on the Mac by both manual navigation and then a spotlight search, it wasn't found, so I went into the Library/Application Support and then created a new folder with the name MobileSync and a subfolder 'Backup' within that. Will this work?
If not, could someone please help me on how to get my iPhone backup onto the Mac.
    Thankyou!

  • I have an external drive - WD My Passport FOR MAC. I want to format it to work on both mac and windows. Which format do you think I should use? Will either one cause damage to the files on the hard drive?

I have an external hard drive - WD My Passport FOR MAC. I want to format it to work on both mac and windows. I also want to be able to connect it to my TV and watch movies.
I read up and I think I am supposed to use exFAT or FAT32? I also saw MS-DOS. Which format should I should use? Will any of them cause damage to the files on the hard drive?
My little memory stick uses MS-DOS and it works on both mac and windows.
Please can you just tell me a little about each and suggest which one to use.
I know how to change it once you tell me so don't waste your time writing about changing it.

Will any of them cause damage to the files on the hard drive?
WARNING: FORMATTING A DRIVE ERASES IT COMPLETELY !!
If you need to carry large files (e.g., larger than about 4GB) back and forth, you may need ExFAT. Otherwise MS-DOS works for smaller files.
The Mac can Read, but not write Windows New Technology File System (NTFS) without an add-on program such as Paragon NTFS.

The 2012 Mac Mini's are listed on this article. Can I run windows 7 64-bit on it and/or the 32-bit?

I would buy nothing less than Windows 7 64-bit Pro.
32-bit only addresses 3.5 GB RAM ... 2012 Macminis can hold 16 GB.
64-bit Home addresses 16 GB RAM.
64-bit Pro addresses 192 GB RAM and han an XP mode.
This is all about having a good version of Windows for future use.  Yu can buy "Syem Builder" version of 64-bit Pro for $140.
