Will this work the best on "Sawtooth"?

http://eshop.macsales.com/item/IOGEAR/GIC251U/
I just want to make sure before I buy it. It says on the description Power Mac G3 (Blue and White) or higher. So would that include the 450 Mhz "Sawtooth" Power Mac G4.
"

The internal port on the USB cards are typically used for I/O port drive bays. These fit in either a 3.5" or a 5.25" drive slot, and give expansion of firewire, eSATA, serial, and USB 2.0 (among other things). These are connected to internal ports and connections on PCI cards and PC motherboards.
In the DIY PC world, ATX cases have many options for external port expansion, but they all need a way to interface with the mother board. This is also why some PCI cards feature internal ports.
When I modded the case on my Sawtooth (yes, it's not limited to hardware mods), I fit a USB port in the front of the tower and connected it to the internal port on the USB 2.0 card.
The extra port in the front of the tower makes for very convenient connection/disconnection of an iPod.
As for the firewire port on the motherboard, like the USB on the PCI card, it can be used for port expansion on the tower, or, connected to a firewire device that one, for whatever reason, mounts internally.
I have seen a firewire cable snaked out of the case to connect to an external drive, giving the Sawtooth three drives, each with a dedicated firewire port.

  • Will this work to determine the system byte order?

I need to be able to determine, preferably without relying on conditional disable symbols, whether the system on which a VI is run uses big-endian byte order.  What I came up with was to flatten a U32 containing 0xDDCCBBAA to string using the unknown system byte order, and unflatten using a big-endian byte order.  If the pre- and post-flattening U32's are equal, the system must be use big-endian byte order.  Two questions:
    1. Will this work?  It recognizes, correctly, that my PC does not use big-endian byte order, but I don't have any big-endian targets to test it out on (see #3).
    2. Is there a better way?  Perhaps something already built into LabVIEW?
    3. Would somebody with a big-endian target verify that my VI detects it as big-endian?
    Thanks,
    Mark Moss

You can simplify your VI a little.  Since you know what the result of the string flattening should be in big endian, just compare the string.

I have purchased a Epson Workforce 435, can't AirPrint, will this work with the first gen iPad?

Also i forgot to add after a night of searching how to turn the Epson Workforce 435 printer into Airprint friendly and not iPrint (which are 2 completely different things) i donwloaded a program called (AirPrint Activator) from HandyPrint. The link is below to download the software. Once i installed the application i set my printer to be shared over my Home Network (Wi-Fi Network). Once you have done that, open the AirPrint Activator application you have just downloaded, swtich it ON from OFF mode, and then you should easily see your printer name in my case EPSON Workforce 435 and then just close the application. Then go to your IOS Device like your iphone/ipad/ipod touch select a picture that you want to test print or even an attached PDF from your email, and select Print in the share button. You will then be prompted to select your printer. Your printer you automatically be recongised then just select print. And now you have a complete AirPrint ready printer with a Printer that doesnt even support the function. Im sure you can do this to all Wireless Printers, even if they came out before Apple AirPrint service launch.
And also if you still need guidance and a video to follow from just click the Youtube link below

  • I have downloaded trial for Windows English version, but can't open the Captivate_8_LS21.7z file. I have 32-bit. Will this work or shoudl I redownload?

I have downloaded trial for Windows English version 1.45GB.
It has downloaded but I can't open the Captivate_8_LS21.7z file.
    I have 32-bit. Will this work ?

    Hi There,
In order to download / install Captivate 8 32 bit, you have to download 2 files ( .7z and .exe ) at same location/ folder.
Once both files downloaded completely then you have to run .exe file and it will extract .7z file first and then it will initialize the installer. You do not have to open .7z file.
Let me provide you the download links of Captivate 8 32 bit :-
Open the link mention below in any Web Browser say Internet Explorer
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=captivate
Sign in with your Adobe id and Password, then you will be redirected to download Web Page of Captivate 8.
Do not click on Download. Kindly let that window open as it is.
Now Copy and paste the link mention below in the new tab/window of the same Web Browser in which you have opened the above link.
    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/8/win32/Captivate_8_LS21.7z
    Then Save the file.
Do the same for the link mention below and save this .exe file as well.
    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/8/win32/Captivate_8_LS21.exe
Make sure both the files (.7z and .exe) save/download at the same location/folder.
NOTE: Wait for both the files to finish download and then run the .exe file.
Once you run the .exe, it will start extracting the .7z file and will provide Captivate 8 folder on your desktop which will contain setup.exe. Run this setup.exe to install Captivate 8.

  • I just bought a new iMac and am ready to purchase Logic Pro X, but I have a Presonus Fire Studio Project with a firewire 400 as my connection.  Will this work with my new iMac?  I purchased the Presonus around 2007.

I just bought a new iMac 10.9 and am wanting to purchase Logic Pro X. My question is I have a 2007 Presonus Fire Studio Project 8 channel input box that hooks up with firewire 400 I believe, will this work with Logic ProX on my new iMac?

You will need a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter... may also need a Firewire 800 to 400 connector/adapter.
Also need to make sure Presonus has Maverick drivers for the FSP.

  • I have a company BB which is terrible and want to buy a 3GS and use my BB SIM card in the iPhone. Will this work?

I have a company BB which is terrible and want to buy a 3GS and use my BB SIM card in the iPhone. Will this work?

Depending on the model of the Blackberry & the carrier.
if the blackberry didn't have 3G or a 3g sim card (depending on the carrier), then the SIM is probably too old to use and would require a new SIM.
The data plans on some carriers specify a blackberry data plan and an iPhone data plan, and they are not interchangable, so the carrier would have to switch that.
Usually since iphones come with a SIM preinstalled, some carriers may tell you the SIM card can't be transferred between an iphone and another device.

  • Dell 14z to 24" ACD - Will this work?

    Hi,
I was thinking of getting a Dell 14z laptop which has a DisplayPort out. I found this product online: Mini Displayport Female to Displayport Male Adapter Cable. I could then use a 24" ACD, correct?
Here is the link: http://estore.circuitassembly.com/products/Mini-Displayport-Female-to-Displaypor t-Male-Adapter-Cable.html
So theoretically I could connect my Dell Display Port> Adapter> ACD.
Has anyone had luck with this? Will the iSight, speakers, etc work once the USB is connected?
I searched days for a solution like this and almost seems to good to be true. Any reason this would be a bad setup. Anyone not recommend this?
    Any help is much appreciated!

    Welcome, to Discussions, Ben
If you get no better help here, this is the best I can offer. I don't know how helpful this will be, but this poster is using an ACD with his XP machine.

You might watch his thread(s) on the subject to see how things progress.
Only you know how much money is a lot _for you_. However, *if it were me*, I would ask both the Dell folks and the Apple retailer. If either of them were unsure that there will be no problems, I would ask for an on-site test or written return privileges before spending that much money.

  • Is this really the best I'm going to get?

2 years with BT and had awful connection and speed issues, many numerous long calls to India doing first line tests, mostly being told that I would receive a call back and never do. Recently informed of an upgrade at the exchange but speeds dipped since and have not been any better since.
Been reading these forums for a while, I am plugged into master socket, the one with BT Openreach logo on, ring wire removed, connected for over 3 days, no other phones in sockets. I was always told as I am 1.6k from the exchange speeds were not to be great but next door shows as 4-6k, I'm lucky to have dial up speeds most of the time.
It appears that other people within feet of me are having decent speeds, mostly via Talk Talk I hasten to add but was told that it would make no difference as BT are the main supplier.
The quiet line check appears in order, no noises or crackles seems a little quiet but reported that online a week ago but not heard anything since.
I would be grateful and see from your experience is this really the best I'm going to get?

want to buy airport extreme, am using mountain lion.  Will this work ?  also,  my house is 5,500 square feet all on one floor.  Do I need an extender and which one?

...  If I purchase an express to extend is it hard to configure as an extender?
No, AirPort Utility prompts you with step-by-step questions and makes configuration simple.
The Express and Extreme have the same transmitter power specifications, so I suggest the $99 Express as an extender, should you need one. Beware that you cannot add a second Express to wirelessly extend the network any further - as the following excerpt from Extending the range of your wireless network by adding additional Wi-Fi base stations explains:
    Extended network range considerations
In the above example the primary Wi-Fi base station ➊ is out of wireless range of the extended Wi-Fi base station ➋, therefore the extended Wi-Fi base station cannot join or extend the wireless network. The extended Wi-Fi base station must be moved to a location that is within Wi-Fi range of the primary Wi-Fi base station.
    Important Note
If another extended Wi-Fi base station ➋ is placed between the primary Wi-Fi base station ➊ and the extended Wi-Fi base station ➌, the extended Wi-Fi base station ➌ will not allow clients to join it. All extended Wi-Fi base stations must be in direct range of the primary Wi-Fi base station.
A "roaming network" that Bob described, in which all base stations are connected with an Ethernet cable, is by far the best alternative.

My wife and I have separate Ids but all our music is in one library. How will this work with iCloud? i'm trying to download past purchases from her id, but itunes is saying that I can't because the computer is associated with my apple id. Can I associate the computer with both ids for the purpose of identifying all of our music with both or just one of our ids? Is there a good way to do this? I'm sure we're not the only people with this problem...
Using 2 iphone 3gs, ipad, mac mini, appletv, itunes for windows, macbook, and imac.

iTunes- How to share music between different user accounts on a single computer
You cannot merge two separate libraries across user accounts. Photos does not have the function of merging different Photos.library files. If you have Aperture then you can merge the two before migrating over to Photos.

You will lose data from whichever was the 2nd to last to sync .
    Don't do it.

I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG.

  • OS X lion USB Thumb Drive - will this work on new Mac Mini or MBA (2011)?

    Hi All,
Not to be confused with the other similar posts, I am interesting in only clarification of what build comes with the USB Thumb Drive now available on Apple Store - will this work with new MBA and Mac Mini?
    Thanks,

    KeanuReeves wrote:
From what I have read about the usb installer, it is not intended for you to try booting from the stick after wiping your hard drive. You are to click on the installer
You may be correct, but this statement is quite confusing in that context:
    Important Note
When you install OS X Lion using the USB thumb drive, you will not be able to reinstall OS X Lion from Lion Recovery. You will need to use the USB thumb drive to reinstall OS X Lion.
So, if the Thumb drive is supposed to take the part of the Recovery partition, it seems that it should be able to boot. However, the license agreement still requires an Apple computer running Snow Leopard, so maybe it isn't bootable.

OK, so my plan is to create a home movie server for the living room and the kitchen as illustrated in the diagram. I Plan on using a mac mini (current generation) as the liaison between the NAS and the receiver. I will install XMBC on the mac mini’s as a movie organizing software. I will use the iPad app to control and select movies from the system. This setup will repeat in the kitchen with the exception that I will connect the mac mini directly to the television in which the audio out will go to a jack which connects to the in ceiling speakers. Will this work? Are there any other suggestions that anyone has to make it more streamline? I also assume that there can be simultaneous movies being watched in both rooms via the NAS. Thanks for all of your comments and help

in theory, yes, but you work network admin may have locked the network preventing this from working

  • Switch to 2X Xeon 5680 6-core, Will this work?

    Hello
My current set up of a 8 core 2.26 Xeon mac pro (Early 2009) has been giving me insufficient power for what i need to do. I am not willing to pay for the apple upgrade to only 2.93 for an 8 core, so I am considering upgrading to two six core 3.33 GHz Xeon X5680's, or two six core 2.93 GHz Xeon X5670's. (I chose those because i'm guessing two i7 980 processors won't fit on a Xeon board). Totalling 12 cores.
The question comes down to, will this work, will the processor fit in the socket? If so, what is involved, what risks are there, what changes would need to be made? Would it work on OS X, or would it only run under windows, etc? Or would it not even work at all?
(And i'd rather not buy a PC with that money.)
