Will turning off auto screen rotate save battery o...

Read this somewhere, want to confirm with someone knowledgeable. cheers.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and the world laughs louder :-)

not likely, if you keep rotating it it will increase the clock speed and load for a few seconds at a time but its not noticeable so turning it off won't really do much

  • Is there another way to completely turn off my iPod to save battery?

I've heard that turning off my iPod by holding the Play/Pause button is just putting it into a sort of "Sleep" Mode, where it appears to be off but is actually still using a considerable amount of battery.
Is there another way, a better way, to completely turn it off?
    Thanks.

After it is off for a while it will go into a deeper sleep on its own.
It is not using much battery power when you put it to sleep by holding down the play button. Make sure you activate the hold button after you do this so it does not inadvertently "wake up".

And the screen light doesn't completely dim out until the screen locks. Isn't it a step of backward? I just need a 5800 with capacitive touch screen. Should i expect Nokia to fix it for every phone that with this backward step?

Am not sure about your requirement (..sorry, did not understand it)..but on Nokia 5800xm you can either automatically lock the screen after a pre defined period..or simply keep it Unlocked infintely. Menu-->Settings-->Phone-->Phone Management-->Auto Keyguard..set the period to User defined or None as you desire...But, even with this set to None.. the display will go out between 5 and 60 seconds max. (..again user defined) ..Menu-->Settings-->Phone-->Display-->Light time-out ...
...and further check THESE applications ...

  • Turn off the screen saver is greyed out in Presentation Settings

    Hi,
We are using Windows 7, and want to allow laptop users the ability to "turn off the screen saver" when they are running presentations. However, this option is greyed out and the box is not selectable.
We have the usual screen saver group policies, i.e. enable screen saver, Prevent changing the screen saver, screen saver timeout, and force specific screen saver. I have tried to Disable all these apart from Enable screen saver, since if I disable this then
it says users cannot change screen saver options, so I left this one as enabled.
However, the "Turn off the screen saver" box is still greyed out. Does anyone know which group policy setting will enable this option?
Also, is there a way to keep the screen saver settings and also be able to use Presentation Settings, so that the screen saver does not come on and lock the machine in mid presentation?
I've seen some sites mention utilities that run in the background and simulate mouse clicks, but we're not allowed to run these kind of utilities, and no forums seem to be able to provide an answer to this problem.
    Thxs.

    Hi,
    >>i.e. enable screen saver, Prevent changing the screen saver, screen saver timeout, and force specific screen saver. I have tried to Disable all these apart from
    Enable screen saver,
Before going further, please make sure that the group policy settings were applied correctly. We can run cmd command
gpresult/v or gpresult/z on clients to collect group policy to check this.
Besides, if the issue persists, we can try setting all these settings to
    Not Configured.

Based on the description, it is not easy to do this. However, we can reduce the effect of screen saver by choosing to not enable
Password protect the screen saver, and not set the setting
On resume, display logon screen on Screen Saver Settings dialogue box. Besides, we need to not let our power plan settings lock out the computer within a short time.

When my phone is not plugged into the charger or computer, it will not turn on at all; even though it is not dead. When it's plugged into the computer, it will go to a white screen with a grey apple icon and then it will turn off again and repeat. IOS7 and iPhone 5.

Try this step and if you cannot get your device into recovery mode there is a chance you have a hardware failure and you need to call apple to see what service options you have.

My iphone 5 died so I plugged it back in to charge and it will not turn on. It will turn to the screen with the apple logo and black screen then turn off again. Any suggestions?

I leave it charging until it gets back to full, usually it turns on after a little bit of time after plugging it in, but all its doing is going to the apple logo screen and going blank again.

No such app exisits or can exist.  Apple doesn't allow 3rd party apps to access core functions of the phone.  Time to get your phone replaced or repaired if assistive touch doesn't needs your needs.

  • Turned off auto-scanning, turned on Switch control. Why don't I have control on my screen?

I saw this video on Facebook about switch control about the head gestures etc. I thought I would give it a try. Turned off auto scanning (DOnt know what this is) as the video instructed, then turned on  switch control. I set one of the switches to increase volume so I threw on some music to test it out. (didn't work). So I locked my phone. When I turned it on, I could not do anything on my phone (swipe to unlock, pause music, volume up/down nothing!) I tried the bail out feature, and nothing.
    HELP??

Take it in and see what the technicians say is wrong and then how they want to handle the iPhone.  If the iPhone has a problem covered by the warranty then you should have no problems.

    Howdy AJBA,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where your iPhone will get to the Apple logo and then restart again, please follow the directions outlined below.
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

  • Creative Zen 4gb, is it supposed to turn off the display to save the batte

I just bought a Creative Zen 4gb, is it supposed to turn off the display when I'm listening to songs?to save the battery?
Mine doesn't. It just goes dim.

Yes, it is possible. On the right hand side of the player is the slider to turn on the player, push the slider upwards to the lock position and the screen will turn off. That is the Hold mode. At this mode, all the buttons would be inaccessible to prevent accidental pressing of the buttons. This is the mode to use when you are just playing music and do not need the display.
To unhold the player, just push the slider to the middle position and all the way down to turn it off.

  • How can I turn off the screen while keeping the mac awake?

I am using teamviewer to remote connect to my office Imac from home. However, every time I connected, my imac screen will turn on and everyone else in the office can see what my imac is doing..
Is there some method to turn off the screen while keeping the mac awake, so I can remote connect to it?
PS: I am using OSX 10.7.3

Energy Saver, you can keep the computer awake while the screen saver shuts the monitor off but I'm not sure that would do it for you.

  • Safari 7.1 won't load large images on MacBook Air. Turning off Auto Graphics is not an option.

When I try to load a large image with Safari 7.1, I get a black box instead of an image.
Chrome and Firefox load the image just fine.
This is a known problem and others have resolved it by turning off Auto Graphics Switching.
However, my version of MacBook does not have the capability to turn off Auto Graphics Switching under the Energy Saver preferences. (I guess I have the GPU or chip or whatever that doesn't provide that option.)
    Are there any workarounds?
Here are two threads about the same problem, but the solutions don't work for me:
safari 7 won´t load large images...
Safari 7.0.1 does not load large images

    Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
"Develop" menu will appear in the Safari menu bar
    Enable Images.
Make sure that"Disable Images" is not enabled.
    Best.

  • Turn off PDA screen

I am trying to perform long term DAQ with a iPAQ 5555 Pocket PC, and trying to conserve as much power as possible. I was wondering if there is a way to turn off the display without allowing the system to enter into standby mode.
    Thanks Chris.

Funny you should ask. On that same web page where you get
ScreenOff, is below it another app.; ScreenOn.
This was requested for automation purposes as well.
    > Is it possible to call this program from the block diagramm?
Not quite sure what you mean.... I assume through Labview? If so,
you will need to research the command to shell execute another
    executable.
    Usage note: ScreenOff /ANDEXIT
With this command line parameter (/ANDEXIT), ScreenOff will turn off
the PDA LCD screen and exit the program. Which means you will need to
rely on ScreenOn to turn the PDA LCD screen back ON. Without it, a
soft reset will turn the screen back on again.
Using ScreenOff/ScreenOn allows for automation with the PDA to
preserve battery power by other apps., etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT4098 How do I turn off auto-renew for the Guardian?

Trying to turn off auto-renew for The Guardian.  From PC.
    I did the following:
    1. Launch iTunes on your computer
    2. Choose Store>Sign In from the iTunes menu.
    3. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted.
    4. Choose Store>View My Account. You may be asked to re-enter your Apple ID password.  Click
View Account.  (I chose "iTunes Store", in the side bar, since the word "Store" in the menu bar didn't list "My Account". Then I chose "Account" in Quick Links, on the right-hand side of the screen. I got the "Account Information" ok.)
    5. From the Account Information screen, scroll to the bottomof the page to the Settings section.
Then it said to:  6. Click "Manage" to the right of "Subscriptions".
The word "Subscriptions" does not appear in the Settings section.  Nothing in the Settings section takes me to a page on which to manage my subscriptions.

    Hi
Read this Subscribe to iTunes Match - Apple Support
This includes a section about turning off auto renew.
