My iphone is running on ios 5.1.1 and i want to upgrade it to ios 6.0.1 using over the air.I want to know that will it delete my apps,contacts or any thing
No, no data should be deleted. You may have to reload the Google Maps and the youTube Apps from the App Store since they are not bundled in iOS 6. You will still be able to sign into your youTube account (if you had one).

Thanks for your reply Michalo. I am in India and here Apple care does not work on Sundays. I have been without my phone for the entire day. Perhaps tomorrow will bring some respite. There is not solution to "error (-1)" on any forum it seems. I found one forum which suggested use of Tiny Umbrella. Any idea about that?

Well, just for future reference, any time you do an iOS upgrade, it is a good idea to back up your device just prior to doing the download. You can back it up to iCloud or to iTunes. Personally, I prefer to back it up to iTunes, and then to do the download via iTunes as well. Doing a Wifi download can, by the very nature of the OTA environment, run into more issues than a hard-wired one via iTunes.
If it is just a version release (like 8.0.1, or 8.0.2), then I might download it via Wifi, since the content is not likely to be very large. But for any major new release (7 to 8, etc.) it is always a good idea to do it via the USB cable rather than OTA.
I would also suggest that you set up your device to do automatic iCloud backups. Whenever it is turned on (i.e., not manually powered off - it can be "asleep"), plugged into a power source, and connected to Wifi, it will do an automatic backup every 24 hours. Mine usually backs up at night.
But even with my iCloud backup in reserve, I still did an iTunes backup before I upgraded to iOS 8. I like having the extra security of that second backup to choose from, should I need it. Here is a support article comparing the two types of backup:

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 7.1. The apps I had previously installed are not showing on the screen. They are located in App Store icon. How do I move the icons so they are showing on the screen.
You can move apps around in iOS 7 the same as iOS 6. Press an app icon until you see it wiggle; then drag it to where ever you want it to be. Drag it onto another app to create a folder with the two apps. Tap the Home button to stop the wiggle.

You're probably running into the servers simply being swamped. Thousands of people are all going for the software update at the same time. Give it a try again and if that doesn't work, then try plugging it into your computer and trying it that way.
I didn't get a notion of the size, it doesn't seem to be as big as the 700 meg 5.0 update, but it did take me 20+ minutes to download via cable internet so it's a large file. That in and of itself takes a while.
If you're trying to download it directly to your iPhone, you'll need to be on wifi since I'm sure it's well over the 20 meg file size limit for 3G. -

After updating my iPhone 4s to iOS 6.1.2, the iCloud backups fails. It appears it is trying to backup the entire 3.1 GB not just new data, thereby exceeding the 5.0Gb limit. I have checked the phone contents on my iMac and there is very little new data so the backup should be successful. I have tried rebooting the phone, which did not help. Phone is not jailbroken. Any suggestions? Thanks....

For your iCloud backup, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding. You could try deleting your last backup by opeing iTunes and going to Preferences>Devices, clicking on your last backup and clicking Delete Backup. Then try again. -
Why did my iPod touch go into recovery mode when updating to iOS 8.1 over the air???
I was updating my iPod touch (5th Generation) to iOS 8.1 over the air update option and my iPod goes into recovery mode...I hadn't backed it up in like 2 weeks and a lot happened in two weeks with photos and everything. I have yet to see if I get any of them back but why did this happen? I thought apples over the air update was reasonably easy and secure...?
Hey Haywards, There has been reported issues with updating iPods to iOS 8, one of which is updating with the cloud or through Wi-Fi. Your seeing one of the problems. After you get things cleared up with the DFU recovery, connect your iPod with your computer via the cable and run the update through iTunes. You should be OK. Or if still an option, don't do the update at all! Many have reported several issues with iOS 8 on iPods. Slow or laggy operation, missing apps, missing music, camera roll not working or missing and huge battery drain and charging issues, just to mention a few. You may want to hold off from updating if possible. Things to think about. Good luck, Cheers.

My MacBook Pro and iPhone 3G with OS 4 synchronize with each other over the air through my Snow Leopard Server. Though when I connect it to iTunes I see that it allows me to checked "Synchronize with this computer" type options and I'm confused as to why that would be if they're synchronizing over the air.
Can someone help clarify when those should be checked? Because I do want everything that's on my computer synchronized with my iPhone and vice versa, but if I add the accounts on my phone manually that seems to work too.In regards to syncing contacts and calendar events, if you are syncing this data over the air on your iPhone and the contacts and calendar events synced over the air on your iPhone match the Address Book and iCal data on your Mac, there is no reason to sync this data direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process.

Hi, I own a iPhone 4, Well my dad owns an iPhone 4 for 1 year now and iOS 7 Just came out. I am very excited to update my dad's phone to iOS 7 But the only thing i am afraid of is, will his iPhone be fully erased? Will Updating the iPhone wipe the whole phone out? I don't want to mess my dad's phone up because he needs all his data on his phone. My dad has important messages and contacts that he doesn't want erased. He also has photo's that he needs. Is their a way i can retrieve my dad's Photos,Messages and Contacts after Updating to iOS 7, what is the process of updating and retrieving my dad's data from his phone. But why is it, the last time i did it, i backed up my iphone and then restored the backup, everythign was restored bt not the contacts and my messages?

I've repeatedly had problems with my Yahoo! account on iOS 4 too, and I've had to delete it, then set it up again. It kept asking for my password, though the phone had it memorized, and when I entered it, I'd get the same error message about no password being set. Could be the Mail app has a problem with Yahoo!, because on my MacBook Pro too, the Yahoo! account sometimes gets locked out.

IOS Profile installed Over-the-Air cannot be updated
When the IOS Profile was installed Over-The-Air and the expiration times arrives, the profile cannot be updated. When tapping on the "Update Profile" button, there is the error:"The profile “iOS Enrollment Server” is invalid"
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install profile using the steps described here: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/NetworkingInternet/Concept ual/iPhoneOTAConfiguration/OTASecurity/OTASecurity.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40 009505-CH3-SW1
2. The profile has an expiration time.
3. When the expiration time arrives, the "Update profile" button appears, and tapping it fails to succes.
Expected Results:
The Profile should be updated.
Actual Results:
We see the error: The profile “iOS Enrollment Server” is invalid.

AleIt is actually more simple than iTunes lets u believe.
If you just download an older version of iTunes, most likly the one u had before u updated ur computer, that should fix it and then you can update ur ipod and then get the newer version of iTunes.
Thats what i had to do when i got that exact same error just a few months ago.
If that dont work let me know.

I don't have Mobile Me, but my ipad and iphone notes used to sync over the air and they no longer do.
Does anyone have any answers?In iCal's preferences, you can configure whether and when events get purged.
As for recovering old, deleted events... I don't suppose you have backups?... -

I'm planning to download iOS 7 when it comes out in a few days, and I was wondering if it would delete anything. I read online that it would delete everything, then restore it again, but I still didn't know if app data would still be preserved or not. If you back it up to iTunes, will app data still be backed up? I've updated my old iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and it deleted everything, and sadly, I didn't back it up :/ Thank you!

I updated my wife's iPhone 4 to IOS 7. While trying to setup the new installation, I get the message " Find My iPhone must be turned off before Phone can be restored. Go to iCloud Setting on your iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone before restoring your iPhone". The problem is that that option is not available on the phone at this stage of the set up.
Any suggestions?I tried that but I still got the message "Unable to verify account information." I saved it anyway and when I go to the Exchange email account it says "Cannot Get Mail" "The connection to the server failed." We are running Microsoft Exchange 2010 and I was always able to sync my calendar and email before I upgraded to IOS 6.

Since i have updated my Iphone 5S to IOS8 or higher, the push mail does not work automatically, i have to refresh manually, I haven't this problem with earlier versions !
I use Microsoft Exchange Mail server.
Even with Iphone 5 and IOS8, the problem doesn't exist !Why would you expect it to work in 8.3, if it didn't work in a previous version? What troubleshooting have you done? Have you tried putting the car system into Pairing mode?
