Will updating to 4.0.1 make the 3g quicker?

I'm thinking of updating to 4.0.1 but am worried the update will be even slower. Will 4.0.1 fix the slowness of opening and sending text messages and opening of other apps?

If you're asking whether or not updating to 4.0.1 from 4.0 will fix the problems introduced for 3G iPhones, my experience with two different 3G iPhones is that, no, it will not fix those problems or improve the speed noticeably.
However, before someone jumps down my throat again, there are some people here who feel that their 3G iPhones were greatly improved after upgrading to 4.0.1 and were back to 3.1.3 speeds again.
For the record, Apple did not say that the 4.0.1 update for iOS contained any fixes other than for the way reception quality is reported and new reception bar graphics. That's it. I'm sure if 4.0.1 did fix all these problems for 3G owners, Apple would have mentioned that in the release notes for the update and at the press conference on Friday, but, they did not.

I have communicated this before and got no answer. I use Copernic Desktop all the time and so do lots of people. It is a top-reviewed 3rd party application. You shouldn't develop a new Firefox version (saying that it should be installed urgently) if it conflicts with such widely used software as Copernic. Telling us that Copernic will be disabled until THEY provide a compatible version is more than a little bit arrogant, and also inconvenient for us your customers.

Why is it Copernic "that has to make it compatible"? Why can't Firefox develop new versions with an eye on compatibility with major 3rd party applications? Was Copernic (and others) advised that Firefox was developing a new version that would be incompatible with them? If so, how far in advance were they advised?

I'd be careful with that one. Microsoft got in a lot of trouble for bringing out new versions of Windows and IE that were incompatible with their actual or potential competitors. As for timing - however long Firefox has been out their first announcement of it had the "install Firefox 8.0 but we will disable Copernic Desktop when you do" warning with it.

Hi: Doing that will not void the hardware warranty but HP will not offer any software support if you install another operating system. Bear in mind that there are no W8 64 bit drivers for that model, so I suggest you upgrade to W8.1 after you install W8 or install W7 64 bit.

I've been re-watching the iPhone adds, and I really like how well the contacts are organized on the ads, and I was wondering, how can I make my contacts list look good and organized for each contact? How do you do this? any advice will help, I really want to make the most of my iPhone.

What do you mean good and organized?
If you want to add more information to the contact card, you can tap on the contact card of the person you want to edit, then select the Edit button at the top left corner. This will provide you with all the different options that are available to you to add.
At the very bottom there is one that says "add field", tapping on that gives you a few more options like Job Title, Department, Instant Message, Birthday etc.

Hi Hema,
You need to create this Exit Variable with the condition that it should be generated ias a optional variable in the universe.
The reason for being is that when the prompt screen is appeared there is no default value which will be shown in the prompt. But when you press the run query button (will be enabled only after you make the prompt as optional) the BO query will fetch the data applying the restriction of the sysdate.

The best option is to copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527. This will allow iTunes on your new computer to recognize and sync with your phone without deleting content. You will also need to copy over any other synced data not in your iTunes library such as photos synced to your phone, calendars and contacts.

It's not obsolete as much as the first gen simply lacks the power to run the newer operating systems. IT doesn't have enough RAM. If someone managed to hack it to get iOS 6 or 7 on there they'd just have a slow, boggy and unresponsive device. (think putting windows 7 on an old laptop.
Unfortunately software moves faster than hardware. Every thing goes obsolete. I've had my ipad 2 for two and a half years now and I know it only has so much longer left to it too. Just the 'joys' of advancing technology.

First, see if your system can run Lion:

If you have any PPC apps, none of them will work under Lion.
If you meet the requirements for Lion, you can go to Snow Leopard(US $29), then update to 10.6.8, then update to Lion(US $29).
Apple says 2GB's of memory minimum. I wouldn't update to Lion unless you can run at least 4GB's.

After I updated to ios5 my calendar did not bring in dates and when I began re-entering dates after one or two it froze up and after I got it going again it will not populate an end time on the same date and will not save the appointment as a consequence.

After getting it going again, the calendar will not populate an end date for the current day and consequently I can't save the appointment. Is this a common problem as I have just purchased this ipad and the calendar function is very important to me.

Hmm... It looks like they are gone forever now then. I can't think of any other way of getting them back apart from restoring from an iTunes or iCloud backup. Somebody else might be able to help but I think they're gone forever. I don't know why they were wiped from your iPod but it could be something to do with security. In the future I would recommend syncing to iTunes or iCloud to prevent it from happening again. Iphone will sync with one and only one cpomptuer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer. This is the design of the iphone.
It will erase the content when you sync.
Why not update from the comptuer with which you normally sync?

If you upgrade from 10.6 to 10.7/10.8 yes there is a risk you can lose your files if something goes wrong requiring a erase and install to fix it.
Your PPC programs will not work in 10.7/10.8
Mac's earlier than a Early 2011 machine shouldn't really upgrade to 10.7/10.8 due to slow performance issues.
If you Software Update from say 10.6.3 to 10.6.8, there is less risk, but possible.
You should make backups regardless, a 10.6 clone and extra copies of files on a external drive.

If everthing goes as planned, your app date wil be restored to the iPod. To help guard againste a possible mishap. sync (iTunes also creates a backup) the iPod before the udate and caopy the backup file to a save location in case something happens. The backup is located here:
