Will upgrading my phone remove my 4GB per month data plan?

Hello,
I'm currently on a month to month contract in a family plan which has 4GB for $30 per month. I was told by a Verizon rep in store that upgrading the phone and extending the contract by two years would force me to choose a new data plan... but when I review the purchase online, it doesn't seem to indicate that I will be losing this.
Will I lose my 4GB per month data if I upgrade my phone and get the two year contract?
Would upgrading another device on the family plan to the phone that I want, and then switching the new device over to the line that has the 4GB per month plan allow me to keep that data plan?
Sorry if this has been talked about already.  I've seen a lot of discussion about the unlimited data plan, but haven't seen anything about the 4GB per month plan.
Thanks!

It sounds like you have a promo deal, double the data - there is no 4GB plan right now, there is 2 GB for $30.  If you do the upgrade in the (corporate, not an authorized reseller) store, and the rep is a good one, you MAY (emphasis on MAY) be able to keep the 4GB for $30. If it's an authorized reseller, you'll lose it since they can only choose from surrently available plans and options.
If you are seeing no change online, and you can keep your current plan, it sounds good.  I'd check my bill carefully though, as it was a promo deal and I don't know if the terms transfer to a new contract.

  • Is there a wi-fi capable phone that does not require a data plan.

I would like to upgrade the 4th number of my family plan with a phone capable of doing apps.  My youngest son would love to play games with his phone and text and call.  But, a full fledged data plan would be overkill.  Which phone is app capable without data plan?  Help much appreciated

You can upgrade your son's line to one of our Basic phones that do not require a data plan. With these phones your son can text, call, and also purchase games.
Although they do not require a data plan we do recommend one if he will be accessing data when purchasing and downloading games and other applications. Without a data plan you will be billed $1.99 per megabyte used.
If he will be accessing data occasionally then I would recommend the $10.00 data plan which will allow him 75 MB per month. Click here to view other available data plans.

  • List of phones that do not require a Data Plan?

I do not personally need a data plan since all I use with my phone is making calls and texting. I have been using the same phone for almost 4 years now but its all beat up and the battery life is going down and randomly dies down regardless if I do a full charge.
Is there a list of current verizon phones that do not require a data plan? I know almost all phones require a data plan but there are a few that don't. Looking for the "requires minimum data plan $9.99/$29.99 per month" under phone description is a bit time consuming plus I do not think Verizon lists on their website every phone that is available.
I perosnally would not mind the Alias 2 (a current phone that looks like it can pass without the data plan) but it looks like even that phone requires a data plan.
I can go on and on about how phone companies are having these charges to users but I guess we have no choice.. I feel bad for the older loyal customers who need to upgrade their cell phones and plans but have no use for data plans (due to generation differences, no offense but they would least likely need to check email, use the internet, etc.)

  • Will upgrading my software remove my music

Im about to upgrade my phone to the latest software (6.1) from version 5.1 on a new conputer that doesn't have any of my apps/songs. will they be removed if I upgrade using the new computer?

If you want the upgrade to proceed smoothly and expeditiously, make sure to configure iTunes to do the backup onto local storage and forget the iCloud. The local backup is a full copy of all that's on the phone, while the iCloud backup contains (in Apple's words) "the most important components". That means the indices, thumbnails, etc., get left out and have to be recreated, draining your battery.

  • If I upgrade to a new device, will I be able to keep my current unlimited data plan?

I've been eligible for an upgrade since July 2011 but I've been waiting to see what Verizon has that really makes me want to change from my Droid X. But so far, that's been nothing. I would like to know, however, when I do decide to upgrade will I be able to keep my unlimited data plan? If so, how?

Talking from personal experience, yes and no. Verizon will allow you to retain your unlimited data plan on some devices, but not others. I went from a Droid X to a Rezound. Before I did the switch, I noticed where they said that the Rezound did not support my plan. I know, it's stupid, but that's the way it went. So I called customer service and they told me that I could keep my unlimited data. However, when I got their receipt notification, I noticed that I was on the 2GB plan for $30. I have a family plan, and made my Droid X the second phone. This retained the unlimited plan. So, I have a Rezound with 2GB and a Droid X with unlimited GB. By the way, I should mention that I swapped out the Rezound, which I did not like, to the LG Spectrum but retained the 2GB data plan and did not go back to unlimited.

  • Upgrading a dumbphone to a smartphone without a data plan

When you upgrade a dumbphone to a smartphone, you have to add a data plan to that line.  You also have to sign up to continue on a new, 2 year contract for that line.
Am I correct in believing that the contract only applies to maintaining phone service, and not the data plan?  In other words, can I use the upgrade on the dumbphone line to get a subsidized smartphone, sign up for the 2 year contract extension, pay 1 month of data, and then go back to the dumbphone, dropping the data plan on that line?

"you can put the dumbphone back on the line and remove the data

But I could then move that smartphone to another line on the same plan, a line which has unlimited data, but for which Verizon will no longer allow subsidized phone purchases without losing the unlimited data...
    correct

  • Does 4g phone work with grandfathered in unlimited data plan?

I am out of contract (month-to-month service) with an unlimited data plan that is grandfathered in. I don't want a new contract, because I don't want to loose my unlimited data plan, so I'm going to buy a new smartphone for full price without contract. I've done this before, by simply activating the new phone online for free. My concern is that I am using a 3g phone, and most phones are 4g, so will a 4g phone work with my current data plan?
note: It is a $29.99/month fee for unlimited data (grandfathered in before 7/7/11)

My wife and i just upgraded our phones at a Best Buy and they changed our plan to a 2gig plan telling me that there was no unlimited plan. Do you have any idea why this is? I have had unlimited data plans for years now but it looks like i have been forced or tricked into getting a 2 gig plan. Any advise?
This is because Verizon has discontinued unlimited data plans UNLESS you pay full retail for your phone. If you notice, my last reply was from 1 year ago. Verizon's policy on unlimited data changed in, I believe, June of 2012 at which point unlimited was only kept if you paid full retail for a new phone and did not have to sign a new contract.
Now if you sign a new contract, you lose your unlimited data and have to choose from a tiered data plan starting at $30 for 2GB or switch to the Share Everything plan.

  • Do you have to have phone voice service to have a data plan?

I see all of this stuff about $25 and $15 data plans for the iphone.
So my question #1, do I absolutely have to have a phone voice plan to make the data plan work?
I use the iphone as a ipod basically: games, movies, music, with surfing web, email, ect over wifi. but I would occasionally like the ability to use it when not connected to wifi.
Question #2: if there is no way to use the data plan without a cell plan, do they have 20 minutes a month plans? I currently use 10-12 minutes a month on my cell phone, but 20 minutes sounds good.
if both questions are no and no, then I suppose I should get an ipad which can get data plans by itself.

AT&T will not let you get a data-only plan for the iPhone. You must get both voice and data. And they do not, that I can find, have pre-paid plans for the iPhone.
So if you do not need voice, you should indeed get an iPad.
    Regards.

  • Accessing phone with foreign SIM card & no data plan

I purchased an Australia SIM card from Lebara Mobile.  I have an old unlocked BB Bold that I have been using with an O2 SIM card when I travel to the UK.  When I boot my phone with the new SIM card it prompts me for a BB ID.  Neither the Lebara nor the O2 plans provide data support to Blackberry.  I do have WIFI access enabled but when I enter my BB ID & password it just sits & spins.  I have been using my O2 SIM successfully for years (with no data plan) & it works fine.
Please advise if it's possible to use the phone with the Lebara SIM withoout a data plan.
    Thanks!
    Bob

Sim card has nothing to do with itunes.

  • Complete list of phones that DO NOT require a data plan

    Hello.
I am looking for a complete list of phones (old and new) that DO NOT require a data plan.   I have five lines with 2 of them requiring the $30 plan and 2 more of them requiring the $10 plan.  The fees are killing me and I just want basic phone and text service.
Pre-paid phones are out of the question as they no longer allow them to be used on a regular plan unless they have been in service for 6+ months.
    Thank you.

These are all the feature phones that we currently offer.  Feature phones are phones that do not require data features of $9.99 or $29.99.

  • Need Help Choosing A Basic Phone That Does Not Require A Data Plan

Hello,  I need to replace my current basic phone and do not qualify for an upgrade yet.
I need to find a new or used phone that does not require data. Can someone please give me some models that will work that are newer?
The VZW prepaid models have to be used 6 months on prepaid before you can use them on a contract and I have a contract.

Usually on eBay, the listing will indicate if it's prepaid.
I agree with Droid Usrr that the Intensity 2 is worth checking into, because it has a great rubberized keyboard and you can get one new for less than $100.
Depending on what you're willing to spend, I also noticed that the Wal-Mart in my area is selling the brand new Intensity III off contract for $175. That way, you'd still have the year warranty on it, and it's a solid phone.
There usually are quite a few inexpensive feature phones on Craigslist, too, if you're not opposed to meeting with strangers. It's best to meet at a Verizon store and activate it before handing over your money.

    viswanadh.

    Hi ,
If you Want to Run the deprecation for a single Asset and also if you want to run for a perticular Period ,Follow this Process - in AFAB in Parameters you give fiscal Year and give the Period for which month you want to Run the deprecation and under reason of posting  Select unPlanned Posting run , after this come down to Parameters to test run- give the Main asset Number i.e Asset Number for which you want to run Deprecation, first run in test mode then remove it and excute.
in the above process do not select any thing else.
with the above process you can run the Dep. for single Asset and month.
hope the above fullfills your requirment.
    Thanks

  • Switching to an old Basic phone for a week.... will I lose my unlimited data plan?

I have a Droid Incredible. It sold on ebay sooner than anticipated. So I need to activate my old LG EnV until Jan 7th when I can upgrade to a new phone (because the Incredible will get shipped out first thing in the morning to my buyer, and I'll still need a phone for those 5 days in between!)
The LG EnV is not a smartphone. It does not require a data plan. Will my data plan get cancelled when I enable this phone? I have an unlimited data plan that I was grandfathered into. I don't want to lose it. When I get my Galaxy Nexus I plan to take advantage of my data plan!!! lol

Speaking from personal experience, my wife's Droid had become unuseable at one point and we had to activate an old dumbphone for her while waiting for the replacement.  I posed the question several times about the unlimited data and the rep on the phone made a note on my account. After we got the replacement, the unlimited data was back on, and I had a reference just in case.
