  • Upgraded to Snow Leopard & am not able to launch PS CS3 extended. Says I need Java SE 6 runtime.

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard (OS 10.8.2) from Lopard and am now not able to launch Photoshop CS3 extended. I get a warning that says: To open “Adobe Photoshop CS3,” you need to install a Java SE 6 runtime. Would you like to check for and install one? But when I click on "Install" I'm told it is currently unavailable. I need PS to work! What can I do!?

Manually download and install it from Oracle.

  • I have an imac 2006 running 10.6.8 but I still can't upgrade to Mavericks. Is this model not able to run mavericks or is there a way to download?

I have an imac 2006 running 10.6.8 but I still can't upgrade to Mavericks. Is this model not able to run mavericks, or is there a way to download? Apple says any imac running snow leopard or later.

Again, some proof would be nice
Instead of just making a casual, blanket statement, why don't you just post the actual install procedure here, then.
Also, the 2006 models really do not have sufficient RAM specs to run Mavericks well.
So, I seriously question that your 2006 model iMac is running well on Mavericks.
2006 models could either take 2 or 3 GBs of RAM (you can install 4 GBs of RAM to take advantage of more efficient RAM processing of matched pairs of RAM, but the hardware will only recognize 3.2 to 3.4 GBs of that total RAM). This is barely the needed "real world" "working" minimum of RAM needed for Mavericks to run adaequately.
New iMacs ship with a much better 8 GBs of RAM.
If you can't offer/post proof with an actual install procedure for installing Mavericks on unsupported Macs, then I would suggest you stop posting your assertion that
"I have done it" garbage and post knowledge and info that is REAL and relevant to users of 2006 model Macs that need accurate info about this.

You would reinstall 10.6 using your installation DVD.
Out of curiosity, how much RAM do you have? Recent versions of OS X really shine with 4GB or more.

  • What would happen if you try to install snow leopard from disk in mac running mavericks

I've had mavericks installed since it caem out . The longer I use it the more I want it to go away. It is th WORST piece of software apple ever put out. My opinion of course.
To revert back to SL sounds like more tinkering than I've time for and probably also lack the necesary knowledge to do correctly.  Plus---when i installed Mavericks it destroyed most of the data in  Time Machine.
    Anyone have any solutions???

You will need a full backup of your system from the time befor you upgraded to Mavericks. This document describes how to do it:
OS X Mavericks: Revert to a previous OS X version
The biggest problem will be, that all your documents and Aperture libraries by now will have been upgraded by newer application versions. Your current Aperture library will be version Aperture 3.5.1, bur Aperture 3.5.1 is incompatible with Snow Leopard. You will have to reinstall version 3.2.4. But that will not be able to open your current Aperture library and there are no tools to downgrade the Aperture library. You will lose your edits, metadata, etc. I cannot recomment to go this way.

  • I am using Leopard but need  Mountain Lion for the Mac App Store.  How do I get Snow Leopard to be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion?

I am currently using Leopard but need Snow Leopard to be able to get Mountain Lion. I can see this is no longer available from Apple.  How would I get it so I could then get Mountain Lion. I want the Logic 9 Mac App Store App as I don't want to have to buy the whole Logc 9 from Studio 8.
Some help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Adam

    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
If you need to purchase Snow Leopard contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service. The price is $29.00 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
If you need to purchase Lion contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.
Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:
Apple - OS X Mountain Lion - Read the technical specifications.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)

  • Running "Classic Application" in Mac OS X v10.6.2 Snow Leopard

Hello, I'm trying to run a Classic Application on Mac OS X v10.6.2 Snow Leopard... goes by the name of "Titanic Adventure Out of Time." When I go to install it I get the message "You can't open the application Titanic because the Classic environment is no longer supported." I'm wondering how I will be able to get this to work on my MacBook. I've read a few sites which talk of some sort of emulator, or mounting it with Roxio Toast? Is this correct?

Believe it or not you may have an easier time running that program in Windows on your Mac! That game was made for Windows, and there is better old Windows support for Intel Macs than there is Mac OS 9 support. See my FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html#WINTEL
    And see http://www.macmaps.com/macgamepages.html
to see if there are any patches to make it Mac OS X Intel compatible.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)

  • I am not able to run a Windows Azure application

I have a very strange issue.
I am not able to run a windows azure application which has a WCF service and mschart in it. Following are the steps to reproduce the error:
    1) Create a new windowsazureapplication with a blank asp.net webrole
    2) Now add a new WCfService
    3) run to check it runs ok
    http://i.stack.imgur.com/1g6gW.png
    4) now in one of the pages include mschart, and open the design of the page to make sure the webconfig is changed to use the mschart.
    5) now try to run the project.
I am getting error message like this one:
    enter image description here
Is this a problem with windows azure or am I doing somthing wrong?
FYI: This is not my first project on windows azure.

As far as I know Toshiba doesnt support such Microsoft stuff so I think Microsoft is the right adres for such issues.
