Will Verizon Online ever offer SMTPS & POP3S (TLS/SSL) for message submission/retrieval?

Login in with credentials (login name and password) in clear text (POP3) or even base64 encoded (SMTP) is not secure.
Yup, that's right, every time your POP3 client checks for new mail you are sending your user name and password over the network and/or internet in clear plain readable text.
Sending email via your SMTP client is not much better. Probably base64 encoded which is quick and easy to decode to plain readable text.
Verizon, Please provide us with SMTPS and POP3S capability.
Comast, I hear/read have done this for years. Why not Verizon?

srckurs.no have two email accounts. Both working fine, and I can send and recve mail between them, and the outside.
However, for the tholden.no domain, reciving of emails does not work. I can send them though.
What can be the problem?
virtual_mailbox_domains = srckurs.no
But tholden.no is not configured (except in hostname which is for local @aurora.tholden.no users).

  • When is Verizon going to offer the iPhone 4 8GB for free with 2 year contract extention?

Just wondering when this was going to happen.  My wife is due for an upgrade and I'd like t wait and get the iPhone 4 for free rather than paying 100 bucks right now and extend the contract for two more years.

Also....whats the deal with there not being an option to chat with someone from Verizon about simple questions like this.....geez.....this is really aggravating.
Well, it's a simple question and I can tell you the answer you would get. "We have no information"
In general, businesses don't tell you "Don't buy now.  Wait X weeks and it will be cheaper".

  • Apache TLS/SSL failing [SOLVED]

    Hello everybody,
I'm trying to set up TLS/SSL for apache following the wiki : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ap … #TLS.2FSSL
After restarting apache the simple connexion (whithout TLS/SSL) is working but when I change "http" to "https" before my domain name it doesn't respond.
I dunno where to start to fix this. Does someone knows better ?

Wen you said when I change "http" to "https" before my domain name it doesn't respond (where you are mixing up a few different protocols) I expected you were going to need a lot of guidance (which is why I mentioned I thought you were in over your head). Good to see you figured it out yourself anyway!
If someone is in over their head, they are out of the depth in something they are involved in, and may end up in a mess.

  • Will Verizon ever offer the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom?

Samsung has a new Camera with a phone in it - phone. They're selling it all over the world but not in the US.
Will Verizon (in the US) ever offer it?
    http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/smartphones/android/SM-C1150ZKABTU

There is not CDMA. Unless Samsung makes a CDMA variant and strikes a deal with Verizon it isn't happening. Well VoLTE can fix the issue however it doesn't support the 700 and 1700/2100(AWS) bands for LTE.
WCDMA is UMTS(GSM) and not CDMA don't confuse them.

  • Will Verizon ever let you use two networks at once?

Right now, Verizon lets you use only one network at a time (either voice or data network). In other words, you have to hang up to search the internet. Vetrizon's competitor, AT&T lets you surf the web and talk, simultaneously. Will Verizon, in the near future, ever let you use both networks at once? I think this a serious flaw in Verizon's service, and I hope they fix this flaw soon. I'd love some info.
    Thanks!

With the iPhone 6 and 6P you can now do this if you turn on LTE Voice and Data and you are on the LTE network when you start your call (which is just about everywhere on Verizon now). I have been doing that since I got my iPhone 6P on the 9/19.
There are also some Android phones that allow simultaneous voice and data.
Older iPhones will not let you do this on Verizon.
Basically look for a Verizon phone that is on the Advanced Calling 1.0 list.

  • Will Apple ever offer 8pen as an alternative keyboard?

Will Apple ever offer 8pen (www.8pen.com) as an alternative keyboard on the iPhone?

First of all, no poster here is privy to Apple's iOS development plans, so we cannot possible know what they may or may not include (and any member who may legitimately know something would be restricted by a non-disclosure agreement to not discuss it).
However, I doubt it.  Custom keyboards are not an option on an iOS device as the operating system restricts those sorts of key OS features to what is built in only (rather than let developers change out or alter basic or core features of the OS).
Since 8pen is basically a handwriting/gesture recognition app, it would be up to 8pen to work at developing an iOS app, but it would not be able to act as a universal alternative keyboard to replace the base iOS one.

  • Will Verizon offer the Wi-Fi calling with cell number?

Will Verizon offer the Wi-Fi calling with cell number? I get horrible reception and this would be a better solution than buying a "signal booster" for my home and office.

No, Verizon Wireless doesn't offer wifi calling at this time.

  • I currently have the 2 gig data plan for $50, plus a free 1 gig promotional attachment but Verizon is currently offering the 3 gig data plan for $50, but if I upgrade will I lose the free 1 gig promotion I currently have attached to my account?

I currently have the 2 gig data plan for $50, plus a free 1 gig promotional attachment but Verizon is currently offering the 3 gig data plan for $50, but if I upgrade will I lose the free 1 gig promotion I currently have attached to my account?
I understand I will still be getting 3 gigs of data for the $50, I would just like to continue to have the free 1 gig promotion I was already getting, if you Verizon was willing to do it before then why can't they continue to do it now?

Like Ann154 said, changing plans often results in the loss of any promos you may have.  In your case, it makes no difference to the price you will pay - you'll have 3 GB for $50.  Whether you have 1GB free, or a better price on the 3GB plan is a wash.  I'd leave things alone....

  • Do Verizon's POP3 and SMTP servers support SSL?

The Mail account setup wizard on Mac OS X 10.6.2 successfully added my new verizon.net email account in a couple of easy steps.  During the process, the wizard warned me that my password would be sent in the clear; I told it to continue.
After successfully sending and receiving test messages, I tried enabling SSL for the incoming and outgoing servers.  At that point, both sending and receiving failed.
I read the minimalist Support description about email app setup -- no mention of ports or SSL.
Is SSL possible on Verizon's servers?

  • Verizon Online current customers should be Grandfathered in with the MSN Premium services

You should not be forcing current Verizon Triple Play members to pay $59.99 a year more for MSN Premium with McAfee Anti-Virus and Spy Sweeper.  We have to protect our computers while using Verizon online or we won't be able to be online.  Current members should be Grandfathered in to the plan that includes MSN Premium.  The new proposed $59.99 charge for MSN Premium starting March 1, 2012 should only apply to new subscribers.

Are your MSN Premium addresses @verizon.net e-mails, or are they an @hotmail , @msn.com or an @live.com address? There isn't a lot you can really do unfortunately to keep a bundle that isn't offered as complementary unfortunately besides pay up. It was known a few years ago that Verizon was dropping the service and grandfathering the product to those who already have it. If you have a verizon.net e-mail even through it is through MSN Premium, it's a good bet you have nothing to worry about as long as your verizon.net e-mail remains the same. All of the e-mail will carry over to wherever you head off to.

  • Is Verizon blocking all external SMTP servers now? 465 / 587 not working either

I have an Dreamhost hosting account which handles all my email, don't use Verizon at all.
For last year or so have used 587 w/ STARTTLS with no issues. Always worked fine.
Suddenly can't connect at all from Verizon. Configuration unchanged on client side, but all attempts to contact that host will timeout.  But fire up my VPN to tunnel the traffic and it works fine.  And exact same client PC works fine in dozens of other locations / networks with same config.
Can't find anything at all in my router that would indicate an issue.  Config unchanged from when it was working fine.
Tried 465 w/ SSL/TLS and same result - works great via tunnel, blocked on Verizon.
    Recap:
Destination SMTP server = a Dreamhost server
587 / STARTTLS fails to connect via Verizon, fine via VPN and same client hardware/config on other networks
465 / SSL/TLS fails to connect via Verizon, fine via VPN and same client hardware/config on other networks
Any suggestions?  Has Verizon suddenly blocked a number of hosting companies? Quite irritating to have to fire up the tunnel just because of sending basic emails.

Based on your description of the issue, I wonder if maybe Dreamhost is blocking connections from your IP? Do you know if your IP address has changed recently?
I would recommend getting a new IP address to see if that helps. The simplest way to do this is to turn off your router for a few hours. (Before you go to bed or out to run errands are good times.)
