Will Windows 7 run Photoshop CS2?
Will a new laptop running Windows 7 be able to run Photoshop CS2?
Mary Lou
In a nutshell, with User Account Control enabled, Windows Vista and newer try to run your programs as though you're a non-privileged user, even if your account is a privileged Administrator of the computer (most people set themselves up as Administrator). UAC also redirects accesses to certain parts of the file system to other places, and this is what can interfere with the operation of Photoshop.
The idea is that if you inadvertently run malware, it has less chance to wreck your system if you're running it in a non-privileged manner.
If you're confident your good computing practices and anti-malware software are protecting you from malware infections, then you can disable UAC and Windows will run pretty much as it did back in the day (of XP). With UAC disabled (set to the lowest setting), if you're a privileged user all the software you run will have full privileges, and no file accesses will be redirected.
It may be that you can temporarily disable UAC while installing Photoshop CS2, then reset it back to default levels. I haven't tried that but it has a chance of working.
To disable UAC, do this:
1. Click Start, then type UAC into the search box (don't hit Enter).
2. When Change User Account Control Settings comes up, click it.
3. Drag the slider to the bottom ("Never notify").
Some light reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control
It's worth taking the time to understand what UAC does, then you'll fully understand the risks you're taking (or not taking) by changing the settings.

Can I install and run Photoshop CS2 on a Windows 7 64Bit OS?
I just purchased a computer It is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. Can I install and run Photoshop CS2? What issues would I have?
For what it's worth I have Photoshop CS2 running fine on Vista x64, but I've not moved it over to my Windows 7 x64 machine. Generally speaking, things that work fine on Vista x64 work fine on Windows 7 x64.
That said, you might want to wait until you hear from someone who's actually tried the exact combination themselves.

Windows Vista and Photoshop CS2 Compatibility?
I am considering the purchase of a new computer. I have Photoshop CS2, and I am debating whether to get Windows Vista or Windows XP Pro. I have read in the database about Vista and CS2, "Installs and runs with minimal known issues." But it also states under Support for Windows Vista, "not officially." So I am wondering whether anyone has PSCS2 running under Vista, and what kinds of problems you've encountered? Thank you.
I have come across a severe Photoshop CS2 incompatibility with Vista.
One of my printers is an Epson Stylus R310, which prints on both paper and disc. While this model has been on the market for a number of years, many people are still using it, especially those who, like me, have added a continuous-flow ink system to it.
Epson appears to have sat back meekly and allowed Microsoft, whose programming limitations know no bounds, to produce a Vista 'driver' for the R310. Epson even proudly announces on its various international sites that the driver is 'In-box'.
This so-called driver is so poor that Epson has had to release a PDF that shows how to fool the printer into printing to disc when using Epson's own CD Print software under Vista. The Epson XP driver automatically switches the printer dialogue to CD mode, but with the Vista CD workaround the paper mode is retained on screen and it is not until the printer reacts in CD configuration that a user knows that the workaround has worked.
When it comes to Photoshop no workaround seems possible. Print Preview just doesn't work as it does under XP. It is not possible to switch printers, so the target printer has to be made the default so that a preview appears. Otherwise, the user is stuck with the default. In my case, I have used the Photoshop preview box under XP to switch from my default A4/A3 mono laser if I want to use the R310 or my HP 1220. Epson Support's reaction to this situation is that it is up to Photoshop to change.
Problems such as these with the R310 under Vista no doubt apply to many other printers whose Vista drivers carry the dreaded '(M)' in their name.
This leads to a question of my own. I am wondering whether CS3 has tackled this problem of using truncated Microsoft Vista printer drivers with Photoshop. Can anyone enlighten me? -
PC Konfiguration für Windows x64Edition und Photoshop CS2
Hallo,
Pent. D820 2.8GHz LGA775
2Gb DDR2 Ram (4x 512MB Corsair DDR2 PC667 CL4)
2. Festplatten 200GB (2x 200GB WD Caviar SE Sata II)
Windows XP Prof x64Edition
Grafikkarte ??????

Hardware best suited (Windows) to run Photoshop?
I am looking at upgrading my system to run Photoshop/Lightroom. I was looking at a AMD system with an FX-6300 processor (8 cores), 12gb of memory and the R9 255 graphics card w/ 2mb of dedicated memory. Will this system run those programs quickly and efficiently? I may add a small SSD drive to run the program with the main 2 TB harddrive to store files.
I don't think you have to buy all at once. Start off with the motherboard and add ram and SSDs as you see fit.
For example, instead of 64 GB, start start at 16, see if that's enough, add as needed.
Same for SSDs. Maybe two instead of four.
Look at his video card link. There are less expensive models. You can buy one that is a better fit.
With John Nack's paper, perhaps the high end for 2012 is more the standard now, affordable and better suited to your needs.
Think of these as suggestions and ask around. I use laptops myself, so I'm not the best at desktop recommendations.

Will macbook air run photoshop?
Anyone here run Photoshop Elements on a Macbook Air? And if so, can you share any insight regarding the experience?
Thank you.
-CWPhotoshop, be it elements or the full CS version will have no problem on the current generation Air. I use the CS version, and it runs extremely well.

I have been having serious difficulties with Photoshop on my MacBook pro.
It will run just fine and then for no reason won't open anything. It will just sit there and give me the rotating circle forever. I have to reinstall Photoshop for it to correct itself.
Is anyone else aware or have this issue? Is there any way to correct it?
Thanks in advance.Blanketly blaming it on being a non-Universal/Intel application isn't right, especially gien the number of Intel Mac owners out there, including myself, using it without issue. While the Adobe CS2 applications aren't perfect under Rosetta they mostly stable. I would think there were wider system issues if a reinstallation fails to be stable.

Nikon NEF Files will not Open in Photoshop CS2
In OS Leopard w/Aperture 2, there was never a problem opening RAW .NEF Files.
Now with Snow Leopard and Aperture 3...I get a message that the format is unrecognizable.
My system and PS2 are fully updated to current versions.
Thank in advance for any help.Ernie,
You are correct in the RAW decoding engine used in Camera Raw (would be version 3.x in the CS2).
As you know, Adobe Camera Raw is included with each new release of Photoshop since CS came about. However, they generally only update the current version of ACR for new camera models.
The work-around (Adobe solution) for using older versions of ACR / PS is to convert the RAW files to DNG files using their free Adobe DNG converter, which allows compatibility for newer camera models (same solution offered to many with new unsupported cameras in Aperture).
Not sure whether this is the problem for the OP though, as the opening sentence indicates successful use with AP2 and 10.5?
Note - not sure what Adobe will do overall with Lightroom updates as they have been offering those at the same time as the ACR updates. LR3 and CS5 should clear some of this up. -
Will Windows 8 run on the 110W given the HW requirements from MS?

Why you are thinking that Win XP will not run on Sat Pro L300?
Of course you can install the Win XP on this notebook.
I think you didnt read any threads here in the forum regarding such theme.
Am I right? I think you should take a little bit time and should read some threads here
It really useful and could learn a little bit about OS installation.
PS: All Win XP drivers are placed on the Toshiba European driver page ;) -
How well will Windows Server run in a virtual machine on OS X Server?
Does anyone have any experience running any of the flavors of Windows Server in a virtual box (either Parallels or VMware) on OS X Server?
I'm looking at setting up a new server. There are a couple of things for which windows is required. I could set up a separate windows box for these, but I'm wondering if it's feasible to set up Windows Server in a virtual box, and solve my problem that way?
The first requirement is to run an Intuit service for running Quickbooks in a network configuration
The second is a small SQL Server database. My plan is to migrate this to MySql eventually, but that is lower on the priority list.Since you're on Windows 7 I'd probably go for using VirtualBox
https://www.virtualbox.org/ to host the virtual machine.
Downloading 2012 depends what you're after really, if you've got TechNet / MSDN then you can download it from there, otherwise you'd need to have a licenced copy. You can download 180 day evaluation versions from the Microsoft website here :

Photoshop CS2 will not open to double click in Snow Lepard
Since loading Snow Leopard I have been unable to open Photoshop files with a double click. Double clicking .psd file opens PS with the message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." Right click "open with" gets the same result. I CAN open files through the file menu in PS. But, files opened via the file menu and saved as... will not open with a double click.
The "Open with" in the file info window reads "Adobe Photoshop CS2". Even forcing it to open in Preview and then back to PS CS2, sort of like hitting it with a hammer, does not improve the situation.
CS2 on and year old dual quad.
Before you knee jerk a "CS2, what did you expect..." CS2 seems to work fine once open. And I have access to another brand new iMac 24" with CS2 and Snow Leopard that does not have this problem, files open with a double click.
On my troubled machine the thousands of files in question opened yesterday, pre Snow Leopard. I have found a few PS files that are several years old that do open to a double click.
Thoughts? In a partial answer to my own question...
I have discovered that the Adobe CS2 files (as well as Illustrator CS2, Microsoft Office X, Silo, etc.) will open with a double click in some cases.
Files on my main hard drive (Mac pro dual quad with four one terabyte hard drives, Snow Leopard 10.6.1) is a RAID made up of two of the internal terabyte hard drives will not open with a double clip. (They do open via the file menu in the given program).
But files on non-RAID drives open with a double click as expected.
It appears that the RAID drive (Apple software RAID) is the culprit.
It is likely that a simple fix from Apple in the operating system to correct the opening of files with a double click from an Apple sotware RAID drive would solve the problem as the various programs all work fine otherwise with Snow Leopard 10.6.1. -
CS2 Will No Longer Run on Snow Leopard Always Crashes!
Hi, I have been running photoshop CS2 on my new Apple (Snow Leopard 10.6) since March and now for some reason it crashes every time it starts. I can occasionally get it to work, but no one procedure works consistently. Yesterday I turned of my computer and turned it back on and opening PS first and it worked today the same tactic didn't work. Should CS2 work on Snow Leopard? Mine has been working perfectly for more than half a year! Can anybody help?
Hi Chris. I installed it again and yet again the program was identical as if it had never been taken of my computer. The same styles in my styles pallet were still there and the colours I last used were again still in the tool box. I don't get how this can be!
yes it crashed again as usual, I looked for the crash log after the crash, you get the “Problem Report for PS” box and if you click on “show details” there is an absolutely massive piece of text. I have just included the top few lines hope this is helpful.
If Rosseta is crashing, I don't know why it has been fine for about half a year and now suddenly it has decided to crash! Many thanks for your help.

Photoshop (CS2) Quitting Unexpectedly
I've been running Photoshop CS2 on my MacBook Pro OS X Version 10.6.7 for over a year now, and just recently, I've been experiencing issues with it crashing unexpectedly. I'm not able to work on a file for very long (5-10 seconds) before it crashes, or it will crash upon opening a file, or crash immediately after being launched. Below, I've included the details of the error message I keep receiving from the crashes.
A "Problem Report for Photoshop" window appears upon crashing with the following message:
"Photoshop quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent to Apple automatically."
(When I've clicked Reopen, it will sometimes reopen, only to crash again, or it won't reopen at all.)
The following "Problem Details and System Configuration" are also detailed in the message window:
