I am thinking of wiping out an XP Home netbook and re-installing it from scratch. I understand Microsoft is not supporting Windows XPs any more. Will the newly re-installed Windows XP get automatic Windows update download from Microsoft of
whatever Microsoft has already developed.

It beats me how all those brand new factory-sealed objects became refurbished in an instant. Would've thought it would involve some sort of physical refurbishment process applied. - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Will my iPad still get charged when I use my iPad with the plug in when it is fully charged?

I'm wondering if my iPad will still get charged when I use it with the plug in when it is fully charged, because some computer battery's lifespan get decreased when you use them with the plug in when it is fully charged, but is it the same thing with the iPad or does it stop charging when it is fully charged?

No it is not better to use it all the time when it is plugged in. Use the battery. That's what it is for anyway. See Michael Black's post above. That will wear the battery down and the performance of the battery over time.
Use it on the battery and when it needs to be charged - recharge it. If you leave it plugged in after a full charge - it will not hurt. The battery will stop charging even if it is left plugged in.
It is OK to use the device while it is plugged in - even for a matter of hours - but not constantly or as a rule of them.

That phone only has a radio for 700 MHz. It's not as simple as a software update. It has to have the proper radio in it. It's like asking if old analog CRT TV can get in digital TV signals.

Still getting "Software Update Failed" when attempting to download iOS 7 on iPhone 4S.

I've tried countless times now to download iOS 7 on my 4S which is currently running iOS 6.1.3. It downloads completely then in the "Preparing Update..." stage it gives me an error box saying "Software Update Failed. An error occurred downloading iOS 7.0." The same thing happens every time, I've rebooted and reset my pone several times as well as logging in an out of my Apple ID all with no success. It's not like it takes an unusual amount of time downloading or anything, and once it finishes downloading it shows less storage in the "About" section in "Settings" but goes back to where it was once it gives the error message. Just a note, I was able to download iOS 7 on my iPad 3 the day the software was released without a long waiting period or any hassle. I appreciate any input. Thank you.

Thanks for the response. I have 16.5 GB of available space at the moment. I've tried it connected to a wall charger and connected to my wifi, my schools wifi, and my gyms wifi all with no success. I have not tried it from iTunes but after posting this question a few suggestioned discussions came up, one of which recommended backing up to iCloud or iTune and then performing a complete restore. I'm in the process of doing that now, whether it works or doesn't work I will get back to either way. Thanks again.

Recently got myself an iPhone 5 and was curious whether or not i'd still be getting updates since apple seemed to have replaced the device with the 5C.

it sounds like you’ve been trying to install the OS X 10.9.1 update (i.e. a patch to Mavericks) rather than OS X 10.9 Mavericks itself. The OS X 10.9.1 update will not install unless OS X 10.9 Mavericks has already been installed. You’ll need to download the full Mavericks from the App Store rather than the 10.9.1 update. (I think that Apple updates the full Mavericks download as each patch is released, so the full Mavericks that you download should already have the 10.9.1 update incorporated into it.)
I understand now what the Apple support person was trying to do. He had asked you to open About This Mac on the Apple Menu of your MacBook Air. On that window is in big black bold type “OS X”, and in smaller grey type underneath of it, there’s a line that says “Version 10.8.#”, with the “#” representing the Mountain Lion patch level that is on your MacBook Air. If you click once on the word “Version”, it will replace the Version line with “Build ##?###”, where the “##?###” represents the build level of the particular version of Mountain Lion that is on your MacBook Air.
No, I’m sure that your copy of Mountain Lion is legitimate. I think that Pete was wondering if you might have had a developer’s copy of Mountain Lion installed, which typically has a different build number than a retail copy; it’s similar to what the Apple Support person was trying to determine.

I've disabled Avast and have AVG but can't find any way to disable it.
If I go to youtube or anywhere to use the player it tells me to download it....I click on it and it just sits there..I checked and it's already downloaded

Another thing you will be asked to do is to check for the "kill-bit" registry entry. The following link explains how to remove it but I'll sum it up for you as well.

Click on your start button or windows button (bottom left of the screen)
You need to run your Registry Editor this can be done by one of a few ways:
      Open a run window and type regedit.exe
     Open task manager and click new process and type regedit.exe
     Press the windows key on your keyboard and the r button simultaneously to open the run window and once again type regedit.exe
Now you want to navigate to the following registry entry in the left pane of the Registry Editor:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
There will be a sub-key in the right pane of the Editor that is labeled "Compatibility Flags" if the value to the right of that is anything other than 0 or 0x00000000 then right click on the value and change it to that value. Hit enter and exit the Registry Editor and try a new installation.
Another thought you mentioned running both Avast and AVG. Are you running both Anti-Viruses at the same time? Running more than one Anti-virus at a time is not recommended as it can cause conflicts and a slew of other problems.
