Will you still be able to install 3rd party actions/presets into PS CC?

Will you still be able to install 3rd party actions/presets into PS CC?  Will the installation be the same method, or will there be something different we will have to do?

CC is a marketing/ licensing model, not a technical change. Yes, actions, presets and al lthe otehr stuff will be installable just like in the past locally, but these options will be expanded by the new online sharing and configuration sync features.

  • Installing 3rd party actions where (CS4)

    Mac, osx 10.5.6; CS4
WHERE do I put (install, add) third party atn and asl files?
    I see some in root>application?CS4>presets>actions
    also
    User>lib>applicationsupport>adobe>CS4>presets
    Thanks a bunch.

CS4 seems to prefer to install User-created Actions, Styles etc., in:
    User/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/.
I don't know if the reason for doing this is so that we don't lose our personal Actions etc. if the Application itself is un-installed but it might be.
If you are the only User of Photoshop on your machine you might choose to put your own saved Actions and Styles in the equivalent folder in your Application/Photoshop folder as we did in earlier versions but it does seem that Photoshop can find them in either location but looks first in the User location by default; but subsequently goes to the last location to which you navigated.
I think that having Adobe-installed Presets in one place; and User-saved Presets elsewhere is confusing.

  • Installing Acrobat XI Pro - will it still be able be use Pitstop?

Hi, i am about to install Acrobat XI Pro from Acrobat 9 Pro of which i have Enfocus PitStop Pro 09, update 3.
When i update will i still be able to use the Pitstop Pro, reluctant to do so without knowing, thank you

It's unlikely it will work. It's definitely not officially supported.
PitStop 9 had support for Acrobat 8 and 9, so with the Acrobat interface change in Acrobat X I think you will run into problems.
You can find the actual PitStop system requirements here.
    http://www.enfocus.com/en/support/knowledge-base/pitstop-pro-system-requirements/
You can always contact Enfocus support on '[email protected]' and ask them directly.
PitStop 12 is the latest version which has support for Acrobat 9, X and XI as well as the latest operating systems.

if I install dng converter version 8.3 so I can read raw files from my new sony a7 camera, will I still be able to read raw files from my canon 5d ?

Ok. That explains 8.3. I know some want to stay with 10.6 because they have software or hardware that won't work on anything later.

  • Will i still be able to run illustrator CS2 if I upgrade to snow leopard?

will i still be able to run illustrator CS2 okay if I upgrade to snow leopard?

iCloud only works with 10.7 Lion according to what I've heard, to get 10.7 you have to upgrade to 10.6.8 then download 10.7 from the MacAppStore. Then only to a 64 bit Intel Mac, no Core Duo's. Also you need 2GB of RAM, but many say you really need 4GB.
CS2 will NOT work on 10.7 for sure, it might not run on 10.5/10.6 neither.
CS2 is rather dated, you'll have to check with Adobe exactly what you can do first, IMMO don't bother.
You won't achieve your goal, so it's best to stay right where you are and run that machine until it drops less you break something.
Next machine you buy, it will be 10.7 and you'll have to buy a new CS5/6 whatever etc.
    Also new printers/scanners etc.
Something to plan for, I'd wait for all your software/drivers to be Lion ready first, then wait for the bugs to get out before purchasing a new Mac.

...Now what happens if I upgrade to Yosemite on either my iMac or my MBPro?
If I install VM Fusion or Parallels, does Windows run all the time? How does that affect computer performance? and how much do I need to worry about hard drive corruption?
Current versions of Fusion and Parallels are compatible with Yosemite. Both are applications which you only run when you want to run Windows within them. As such, there's no effect on computer performance when they're not in use. Like any other software, there is some additional load on your Mac when both Windows and the Mac OS are running together, but any noticeable effect depends on what each is being expected to do and what resources (e.g. available RAM and the number of CPU cores) you can devote to each.
I think there's less chance of HD corruption with a VM than there is with running Windows natively on the Mac in Boot Camp. Consider that, with a VM, you can create Snapshots of the state of your VM at a given time, and then, if something goes wrong (virus, malware, software installations), you can simply restore the Snapshot in a matter of seconds and eliminate the problems in the process. Moreover you can make a backup copy of the entire VM file, and replace a later version if you wish. Also consider that you can assign, say, 100GB of HD space to the VM, but the actual space devoted to the VM is only what's actually used; as more is needed, more is made available and Windows can't tell the difference. So, for example, my Win 7 Pro VM has an 80 GB virtual HD but only takes up 45 GB on my SSD, and that's with XP Mode in VPC installed inside it.
Microsoft no longer supports XP, though virus signature updates are still being issued. But MS has installed a pop-up message about EOL that won't go away (it's installed with KB2934207). Even if you remove that KB in Add and Remove Software, the pop-up continues. But if you have a Snapshot or a backup which is prior to it's original installation, you can skip installing KB2934207, and suppress it's reappearance on a Software Update list.

  • Will I still be able to activate Photoshop CS (8.0)?

I have recently installed/activated Photoshop CS (8.0), will I still be able to activate it in the future? Is it the same as CS2?
    Thanks

    photoshop cs2 is version 9.
i suspect you'll be able to continue using photoshop 8 in the future one way or another but i'm not sure about activation.  based on the way adobe is handling activation for cs2 right now it looks like they will continue to allow you to use their product in the future.

  • If I upgrade from Leopard to Yosemity will I still be able to use AppleWorks as an application?

I want to be able to read and write files written in AppleWorks when I upgrade from Leopard to Yosemity on my MacBook. Is this possible? I know that AppleWorks is a long-outdated application, but I have been using AppleWorks since it evolved from ClairisWorks, because of its convenience and simplicity in use compared with more recent software.

If you have upgraded to Yosemite and have AppleWorks documents you cannot open, then you should be able to install Snow Leopard on an external hard disk and start from that (provided that the Mac did not come with anything higher than Snow Leopard originally installed); and success has been reported in running Snow Leopard Server under emulation in Parallels - the method is described here: Snow Leopard Server is (as far as I know) still available in the Apple Store (by telephone) at a reduced price and is preferable to using ordinary Snow Leopard which is quite tricky. I haven't tried this myself: use at your own discretion. You can then run AppleWorks within the emulation.
Note that if you want to upgrade to Yosemite your Mac must obviously have an Intel processor, (an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon) and from Leopard you will have to start by purchasing Snow Leopard from the Online Apple Store in order to be able to access the Mac App Store in Applications. Yosemite is supported by the following Macs:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)

  • HT201364 If I upgrade to Mavericks from Snow Leopard will I still be able to use Microsoft office??

If I upgrade to Mavericks from Snow Leopard will I still be able to use Microsoft office??

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Only if you have Office 2008 or 2011. Older Office versions are PowerPC apps, so they no longer work with Mavericks.
If you are running Office 2008 or 2011, open any Office app, go to Help menu (in the menu bar) > Check for Updates, and install the latest version.
If you are using an older Office version, uninstall it and install another application:
Upgrade to Office 2008 or 2011 by buying it from the Microsoft website.
Install Apple iWork applications after upgrading to OS X Mavericks.
    Install LibreOffice > http://www.libreoffice.org.
Remember to make a backup of your files with Time Machine before upgrading.

I have an early 2011 macbook pro 13" running 10.6.8, if i upgrade to osx mavericks 10.9.1 will I still be able to run powerpc applications?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X 10.6.8 is the last Mac OS X version that supports PowerPC applications, so if you upgrade to OS X Mavericks, you will lose the ability to use PowerPC applications.
I recommend you to look for upgrades to those apps, but if you cannot or any of your apps are not available for Intel-based Macs, a different option you have is to create a second partition and install OS X Mavericks there, so you can still use your old apps by starting up into Snow Leopard. • If I delete my songs from my "Downloads" folder, have them in my "Trash" and then delete them from my "Trash", will I still be able to play the songs on my iTunes or will they be deleted on my iTunes as well?

I want to clear some space on my Mac since it is filling up and I don't have much room left on it. I want to delete all my songs from my "Downloads" folder and then delete them from my "Trash" to free up space however, I'm worried that if I do this then iTunes will not play any of the songs I deleted.
Will I still be able to play my songs on iTunes even if they are not in my "Downloads" or "Trash" folders?
    Thank you.

All tracks in iTunes (if you use default settings) should be in various artist and album folders in the main media folder in the iTunes folder. You can right click a track to reveal its location in Finder.  If there's a copy there then it doesn't really matter what you do with other copies.
I have never downloaded from iTunes but I thought it placed files directly in the correct locations, or is this some other downloads folder to which you are referring?
Normally if you download a file from another source and add it to iTunes by dragging it there, or using the Add To menu item, it places a copy of the file in iTunes.  You can discard the original, but if you're concerned you can check which copy iTunes is actually using as above.

  • HT3406 If I choose "restore from iTunes backup" to move everything from old phone.  Will I still be able to use the old phone for music and apps?  Can the old phone be docked up to the computer?  Or will the new and old phone overwrite each other in some

If I choose "restore from iTunes backup" to move everything from old iphone to a new one, will I still be able to use the old phone for music and apps?  Can the old phone be docked up to that same computer every now and then?  Or will the new and old phone overwrite each other in some way?  In other words, are the two phones treated as different devices when the "restore" option is used to set up the new phone?   Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use the old iPhone as an iPod touch.

  • If I buy a Mac and iPad online, will I still be able to claim warranty at an Apple Authorized Service Provider?

If I buy a Mac and iPad online, will I still be able to claim warranty at an Apple Authorized Service Provider?
I am going to buy a Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display and iPad from www.topbuy.com.au . It's a legit website, but they say the items have topbuy warranties, not apple ones. They say I have to send off my faulty device to them, and they will fix it, but I don't want to do that. I just want to walk into an Apple store, tell them the problem and have a happy ending, like what's supposed to happen. Will I be able to do this?
    Thanks

Apple warranty is good at any Apple service provider, AASP or store.
But you seem to be reaching far to defend that "it's a legit website", especially when they seem to be directing you from seeking certified Apple service.
As the saying goes: If it looks like a duck, and it sound like a duck, it's quackers to bypass an Apple store or Apple online to save a few $$.  Well, something like that.

  • If i buy an iphone with a bad esn, will i still be able to use the apple appstore?

    1. If I buy an iphone with a bad esn, will i still be able to use the apple app store?
    2. Searching craigslist, it looks like iphones with a bad esn are cheaper than buying an ipod.  If it's the same functionality, then is there a downside to getting an iphone with a bad esn instead of an ipod touch?
    Thanks

Actually, you can in fact restore it or re-activate it using iTunes. A bad ESN just means it can't ne activated for phone service, but it can still be used as a touch. Phones with bad ESN's are not necessarily stolen, if the owner/account holder fails to pay their bill, the carrier will list with a bad ESN.

  • My ipod classic is in recovery mode- if i restore it and eveything gets deleted, will i still be able to get all my music back from my old computer even though i recently started using itunes through my laptop?

i have an ipod classic and it's in recovery mode. I recently started a new itunes library on my laptop instead of the family computer, but managed to keep all my music. Now it's in recovery mode and it looks like I have no choice but to restore it to factory settings. If I do that, will I still be able to go back to my old computer and get all my albums back on my ipod? I would import my cds onto my laptop but unfortunately it doesn't take discs.

You have no choice but to restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music. They have to be in the iTunes library before your restore from iTunes backup.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
