Willing deleting cache help make a better dvd

There doesn't seem to be a resolution to improving the clips that look like they don't have enough pixels & sort of mov in & out. They look fine in the IM08 project & in QT but on IDVD player & when I make a dvd, the same clips look like a tv censor on body parts but in various parts of the clip. I recall at sometime I was told that deleting the cache for idvd will help. Does anyone know about this?

*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
• Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named.
com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple’s Disk Utilities application)
• Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK will work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’09 v. 7.0.4, Mac OS X.5.8 AND QuickTime 7.6.4 - is OK (does work under Leopard)
• iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/ zzzzzzzzzz

• Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player

Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
iDVD updated ?
Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions
EdinSF writes that, The 10.6.3 update with an Open GL fix seems to have taken care of the problem.

If the latter, does it make a difference if I export from Premiere to an H264 or using the MPEG2-DVD option?
It would be simpler to burn to an H264 because that is the same file type that I upload to Youtube.
(Since MPEG2-DVD creates separate video and audio files, I assume they are not uploadable to Youtube…)

Export from Premiere with mpeg2-dvd.
Import the two files in Encore.
Make menu and burn.
If you use H.264 it gets re-encoded in Encore.
If you want to upload to YT with mpeg2 just set the Multiplexer to ON. H.264 is a better choice for YT.

Will deleting SOME collections make much difference?

I have 4 collection accounts, all reporting monthly, all with Portfolio (God help me). I'm about to launch a pretty assertive PFD campaign, but I know that if I have any shot at getting them to do this, its likely only with a PIF. I only have enough cash to pay off two of the four, leaving two currently reporting collections. Is there likely to be much of a score bump for this or does it really not get better until they're all gone? Also, if anyone has had luck on a PFD with a REASONABLE human at Portfolio and would care to share the contact info, I'd appreciate it.

Will the T4i help me take better sports photos then the PS SX40 HS??

I currently have a PowerShot SX40 HS and I want to upgrade to be able to take better sports shots and actually freeze the action. The sports include Baseball / Football and some indoor Basketball. This is the main reason I want to upgrade (For action shots)!! I am currently looking at the Canon T4i and a couple IS lenses (18-55 & 55-250) both IS II. The lenses come with the camera. Would I be able to freeze the action better with the T4i? I don't want to spend the money if is not going to do what I want. Not looking for SI quality shots but just some I can say "Check that out". Would an STM lens be much better? I think an STM lens is better for video. Not really looking to shoot video - mainly stills. Well Action shots!! I did play around with all of the features on my SX40 so I am somewhat familiar with ISO / Aperature and F-stop. Any suggestions on a I dare say to say "Entry Level DSLR" for my needs. My maz spending is 1k. Would a 250mm bring it up close if I am sitting in the stands?

Better, yes. But better enough to warrant the cost, that I can't answer.
Keep in mind that what you are asking for (freezing action and getting it up close from the stands) is a lot. Arguably too much. But that depends on your definition of acceptable. In order for me to get a shot that I consider great, from the stands, would require a very, very expensive lens. But if there’s one thing that I’ve learned from being a photographer – the average person doesn’t look at a photo the same way a photographer does.
Lets deal with the easy stuff first: a dSLR is much faster than a point and shoot. Modern P&S have gotten much faster, some are quite fast, but their autofocus is still slow, and there’s no point in having 10 pics of an out of focus subject. dSLR can take multiple shots a second, and they can even re-focus in-between shots. Additionally, the shutter lag – time between pushing the button and the shutter dropping, is quicker (though some P&S have gotten really fast). All these advantages make dSLRs much better equipped for sports.
Freezing action requires a fast shutter speed. Easy for just about any camera in good light, but as light fades you’ll start to see the difference between P&S and dSLR. The sensor in a dSLR is much bigger than most P&S, so it can collect more light, which means it can use a faster shutter speed (in a sense). But this can only take you so far, to really reap the benefits of a dSLR you need good lenses. More specifically, you need lenses with a wide aperture to let in a lot of light. Again, outside in the sun it’s not such an issue, but freezing action of indoor sports is pushing the limits, and it really can’t be done well (subjective) without a good lens and preferably a good camera. Will a Rebel with a 55-250 kit lens perform better than a P&S with indoor sports? Yes. Will it provide acceptable results for you? I can’t answer that. I will say that getting a Rebel with the two kit lenses is a big step up and I think you could have a lot of fun, and learn a lot about photography with that setup.
One last comment: you’re correct, STM is primarily for video. I would try to find a refurbished version of the previous version of the 55-250 and save a bit of cash.

Disk Utility will sometimes refuse to make image from dvd disk

Our company puts disk images of media collections on a central server so that they are available to all the staff. But, recently I keep finding disks that refuse to be copied as a disk image. The Disk Utility runs for just a few seconds rather that the usual 20-30 minutes and the final disk image is only a couple of KB of data. I've tried the disks on multiple computers with the same results. All our macs have the same OS so I've been unable to test if this is an issue with the current OSX.
I thought there might have been some sort of data protection put on the discs, but was surprised when disks from the same collection of media would have different results.
These are not Video dvds, but rather standard UDF data discs, being copied to a network drive.
I'm able to manually create an empty image and copy in the data but this takes much longer.
Any help would be appreciated.

I was having similar problems, although I don't think my issues was related to a double-layer DVD. What worked for me was selecting File > New > Disk Image from Folder. Select the DVD in the file open/save dialog with the same options you used before (e.g., DVD/CD master, etc).

I like to help apple do it better.. in order to do that apple dos't have to be mean to clients specially when I am in the middle of something important and they deleted my discussion, probably my writting english is not at is best, sorry I don't have the best writting in english, we can discuss this in spanish any time, in the mean time I like to finish what I started and I like to know if Aperture is really the program I wish it will be?

In order to process about 1000 pictures a day (this is my work flow) I need from programs speed and quality.. I don't need 3 or four programs to do the work of one.. I really like Aperture until it gets to your finish work I am not saying nothing against Aperture, actually I want to help do it better so we Pro-Photographers have an amazing tool to finish our pictures in a fast way before we deliver to our client.
And I know is not Photoshop. Photoshop makes filters and layers you can play around with your images and make a lot o design on them. aperture is not what Photoshop was created for.. But in my believes.. Is the best option to push the speed on our workflows as photographers?
When I work with Photoshop I can't process 1000 pictures a day is impossible, the lift and stamp tool in aperture is what I call a GREAT Feature on aperture, It gives us Pros speed on our work to speeds we though we will never have in our lifetimes...
The problem is after we get the necessary speed on our work and we can deliver those pictures the drawback is we can't deliver to our clients the full potential of the pictures.. Not the way clients see it... probably Photographers way.. But believe me when clients are involved is impossible to make them think 75dpi is better than 300dpi and if my client asks for 1200dpi I have to deliver those pictures on 1200 dpi.

You really think a pro photographer will finish their work under aperture if this is the whole point of working under aperture (speed), the solution is and I still see it that way.. I see it like a dead end, everything is clear and fine and the minute you play under aperture everything is so fantastic until you get to the point of doing your masters from your versions, the ones you have thought you wanted printed on the magazine of your client in my case National Geographic Latin America.
So what happens I can’t give my client that picture of 72 dpi, I have to go back and make it under Photoshop CS2 color correct it and post produce it at 999dpi this is the maximum Photoshop gives from a single raw image.
Then you will ask how in the world I get 1200 dpi from a single raw image, well I say Canon and Nikon from the software they make of their cameras give us the tools so I download the pictures from my disc (CF) to my HD on my computer and open them to my canon or Nikon programs they ask me what I want to do with the pictures and I tell it what I need is a picture of 300 to 2000 dpi then after that process is finish I open them under CS2 and I color correct them, (now I am working under 2 programs) (really time consuming).
I believe Apple can do it better don’t you think?
I am a fan of apple work, I have always been and I hope aperture gives really the tools they sold us under their web page.

There is no way out.
Restart the restore procedure and make sure you are connected to the wall power adapter and have Internet connection.
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
At the end it will ask whether you want to restore, choose iCloud backup.

Well, most of what we can tell you is already stated in the message you are getting. A phone can only sync with one library at a time. You have apparently synced your phone with a different iTunes library in the past, or changes have been made to this library so the phone no longer recognizes it as the library with which it was synced. To know which you will have to provide the information.
If you bought them using the AppleID you use with this phone it may simply be easier to re-download them directly to the phone rather than sync them, though you will want to resolve that issue at some point.

I have blurry artwork in Album View thumbnails. Deleting the cache makes all the artwork sharp, but once iTunes is restarted, the artwork goes back to being fuzzy unless i delete cache again.

I can't say it's a problem I've noticed personally, though now you've made me look it does seem that the large thumbnail is slightly fuzzier than the same image in the artwork panel. I have the artwork panel as small as it goes (small screen) and it is still slightly larger than the image in the browser so that might be all there is to it.
Here's an example from my screen.
Perhaps iTunes is storing a thumbnail at say "medium" size which it then blows up to create the large image. Are you seeing a similar effect or is your "fuzzy" art much fuzzier? A screenshot would be helpful.

Free dvd maker is better than encore cs4

I have shot some footage and have they in dvd pal format.
I was able to create a motion menu, slide show and advd with encore cs4. i could play the dvd on pcs and normal dvd player on the tv.
But: Slide Show and all Movies are flickering. Menu also.
Than i tryed Windows DVD Maker (Free when you have Ultimate Vista).
I used there absolutely the same videos and photos. Result: Slide show and video quality was perfect and without flickering problems.
I spent a lot of money and o can not believe that this free tool dvd maker is better than encore cs4.
so please help me to solve this problem.
I really don't know what i could try.

Should I make an HD DVD or an SD DVD? Please help!

I have footage that I shot in HDV quality (1440x1080i). I have edited them and now have 46 moviefiles of between 2 and 2,5 minutes each. The DVD will be used for mass reproduction, so I need to make sure it is playable by all (including older) DVD players.
Does this mean that I cannot make an HD DVD from it and that I should stick to a SD DVD? Is an HD DVD playable on any player? Or does the high resolution give trouble? Please help!

HD-DVD is a now defunct format, it has been replaced by Blu-ray, which DVDSP cannot author to. So if you're sticking with DVDSP, and you want it universally playable, you'll need to stick with an SD DVD.
