Win 32 application

Hi,
Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm kinda new to this. I just got my IPOD and trying to install the itune software. The problem is that I clicked on the install itunesetup and I get an error message that says: itunesetup.exe is not a valid win32 application.
What should i do? thanks. btw, i run window xp.

Have you had a look at this troubleshooting page? It may be of some help: iTunes: Windows reports that iTunesSetup.exe is not a "valid Win32 application"

  • Running any wine application instantly crashes entire X server

I'm not really sure how to debug this issue. Suddenly, without performing any pacman update or other major changes, running any wine application (even winecfg) crashes X.
Looking at strace, it appears to be a GPU related issue, and temporarily removing lib32/libXxf86vm (the last module loaded according to strace) fixes the issue. However it breaks the 3d application I want to use under Wine.
On the other hand, glxgears for example works perfectly.

  • [SOLVED] No more CD/DVD in wine applications

I read quite a few threads about udev problems with /dev/sr0. I think my problem has a link with this, but I am not sure. Since a week, I cannot use my cdrom drive with wine applications.
    My /dev/sr0 is :
    brw-rw----+ 1 root disk 11, 0 1 nov. 12:09 /dev/sr0
I added myself to disk group, just to see if it solved the problem, but nothing changed.
A lot of non-wine applications work well (smplayer, vlc, for example), but another one ask me my root password (K9copy says that it is necessary to change the read ahead properties of the drive). (EDIT this last remark has no link with the problem; it is a special feature in K9copy and it is the normal way.. I usually don't use this program; sorry...)
Here is my udevadm info -a -n /dev/sr0
Udevadm info starts with the device specified by the devpath and then
walks up the chain of parent devices. It prints for every device
found, all possible attributes in the udev rules key format.
A rule to match, can be composed by the attributes of the device
and the attributes from one single parent device.

Have I got a specific problem or is it only the consequency of this bug?

Some new facts about my problem.
I tried this, as wine application was asking for a /dev/sg0 file which doesn't exist anymore:
    ln -s /dev/sr0 /dev/sg0
    chown root:disk /dev/sg0
Quite ugly, but if it works...
But it didn't. The new error message is:
err:aspi:SCSI_OpenDevice Failed to open device /dev/sg0: Système de fichiers accessible en lecture seulement
The french part means that the filesystem is accessible only in reading. The wine application is EAC (CD extractor to FLAC files); it does'nt write on disk, but I guess it needs to have more rights on /dev/sr0. I don't want to make more crazy things like changing rights on /dev/sr0 or starting a wine application on root.
    Would anyone have an idea?

  • TS3212 I just finished downloading iTunes, but when I clicked "Run" Windows indicated that it was not a valid WIN application and I lost the download. What can I do?

I've been having a lot of trouble with iTunes lately. When I would sync my iPod to iTunes, many of the most recent songs I had downloaded would be removed from my playlists and their respective play counts wouldn't be updated. I had thought that updating iTunes would fix my problems, but each time I tried to download the update, nothing would happen. The dialog box that gives you the option to open or run the program would not appear. Finally, after referring to the Apple Support Community, I was able to find a link to download iTunes that allowed me to do so. But when the download was complete and I attempted to run the program, a Windows error occurred that indicated iTunes was not a valid WIN application. It gave me no other option but to click "OK" and when I did, I lost the entire download. I hope that there is a way to fix this problem.
    Thanks for reading.

  • Wine application won't force quit

I used wine bottler for the first time to run an exe file, the installer for 123d catch by autodesk. It didn't work when I ran it, but I don't really care about that. After quitting wine and closing the application, it is still running. It appears in the force quit menu, but doesn't say its not responding. When I right click on it in my dock, however, it says it is not responding. Anyway, force quitting the app does nothing. I can't get it out of my dock. I can't delete the app because it's open, but I can't open the app. There is a little dot under the icon to show that it is running. I can't get rid of it at all. When I open terminal and type "top" it doesn't show up. It doesn't show up in Activity Monitor at all as far as I can tell, there's nothing under 123 or catch or wine. Please help.

    Hi,
    I can't restart at all.
The application is compatible, and from the download folder it's launching properly.
I can't access anything about the open application - I don't get the menus. It's like it froze in the middle of opening and now it's neither here nor there, technically open but completely inaccessible to everything. If I try opening it again from the applications folder I'm getting the message 'The application "ELAN_4.7.2" can't be opened. -600". If I try to move it to trash it tells me it can't be moved to trash because it's open. I'm going over the user manual now from the developer but so far can't see anything relevant...
    Thanks!

  • How do I delete 'wine' application?

Hi I have OSX 10.8.3 and have been trying to load up an old music compliation which I had for windows xp.
Reading forums I decide to download Wine bottler as my cd wouldn't boot up. Howver having read all the warnings I decidec to uninsatll the said, but am trying to delete wine as this is all that's left in my application folder from wine bottle.
Any help would be appreciated to to enable me to delte / move to trash - it keeps telling that I can't move it to the trash as it is still open. Howver I can't see it open.
    Michael
PS if anyone knows how to help me installa cd which gas autorun.exe and install.exe I'd be gra

Type: command + option + esc  all three keys together.
Is "wine" listed? If it is, select it and type force quit.
If it is not listed, select Finder and click on Relaunch.
Now try deleting from the Applications folder.

  • Problem alt-tabing some wine applications in openbox

I have problem alt-tabing from SOME wine fullscreen games (like Frozen Throne and CS, but no problem with Fahrenheit) when I'm under openbox (The game appears to have alt-tabed - I see the desktop for a split second and then back to the game... the desktop cannot get to focus unless I switch to other desktop). I have to do the ctrl+alt+right arrow to switch to the next desktop and then return to the previous in order to alt-tab....
    Anyone know other solution?

I'm not using compiz and I've already got a workarround... just curious if someone knows a solution...
And, BTW, it's hard to lauch an app in a split second...

  • [SOLVED] Wine Applications & XBOX Controllers

    Greetings, Arch community!
I have a Logitech F710 controller (capable of both XINPUT & DINPUT) and I have already configured it using xboxdrv (although it works just fine with xpad). Linux native games via Steam work just fine with the controller but I have yet to get it working with games on Wine. I'm using PlayOnLinux and have a 32 bit WINEPREFIX using Wine 1.7.4-CSMT running Windows 7.
I believe these are relevant overrides:
    xinput1_1 (native)
    xinput1_2 (native)
    xinput1_3 (native)
    xinput9_1_0 (native)
    dinput (builtin, native)
    dinput8 (builtin, native)
I have tried switching about overrides to no avail as well as tried using x360ce to configure. However, x360ce does not detect the controller when I set either dinput to (native) only. Using ditool (to detect input devices), I see the controller detected just fine in both XINPUT & DINPUT. The games I wish to have the controller working with are:
    Grand Theft Auto IV
    The Legend of Korra
Note: These games wotk just fine with mouse & keyboard but I would much prefer to be able to lay back and play them with a controller.
I'm willing to provide relevant output to get this working because after many tries, it still does not work. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for double post. Got it working. Should've just removed all overrides all this while. Shall just split games that require this into a different WINEPREFIX then.
    Solution:
    boghison wrote:I fixed it: http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/di … 860178892/
(Assuming you already have xboxdrv set up)
Download everthing from here. (Some random link)
Paste it into the same directory as the executable.
With your controller running in XINPUT mode, as root run:
    xboxdrv --silent --detach-kernel-driver --trigger-as-button --ui-axismap x2=ABS_Z,y2=ABS_RZ --ui-buttonmap A=BTN_B,B=BTN_X,X=BTN_A,TR=BTN_THUMBL,TL=BTN_MODE,GUIDE=BTN_THUMBR
Make sure your user has permissions to read the outputted events.
Disable all XINPUT & DINPUT overried in wine by removing them.
After that, all works great. Thanks for the link!

It works fine when I run it on laptop screen but crashed with those errors when I tried to run it on my monitor. I've tried reinstalling it when my monitor is connected on a fresh wine prefix but it still crashes. The thing is that other programs run fine (glxspears). Does anyone know a fix for this?
edit: I've also posted this on bumblebee issues. Which can be found here: https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/Bu … issues/106 .

  • [SOLVED] Playing sound simultaniously from wine and other applications

I'm using Pulseaudio with the following packages installed:
    ~> pacman -Q | grep 'alsa\|pulse'
    alsa-lib 1.0.27.2-1
    alsa-plugins 1.0.27-2
    alsa-utils 1.0.27.2-1
    lib32-alsa-lib 1.0.27.2-1
    lib32-libpulse 5.0-1
    libpulse 5.0-1
    pulseaudio 5.0-1
    pulseaudio-alsa 2-2
When running a wine application sound works, unless a linux application is playing sound. If that is the case, no sound is playing from the wine app until sound from the linux application stops (for example by pausing smplayer).
Is there any way to make sound work simultaneously from wine and native applications?
Other information that may be relevant:
    Architecture - x86_64
    Desktop - KDE
    Wine application - BabasChess

  • What is the difference between Wine, Wineskin, Winery and Wine Bottler, and how do I get Wine to *ACTUALLY* work in Mountain Lion?

Ok, so this is my first post here and I am admittedly terrible at forums. Someone might say, "This was addressed in the ___________ thread by __________! Go read it!" --- that may be so but I've spent enough hours trying to google this problem into submission to no avail based on what is apparently working for others, so I would like a chance to get specific answers to specific questions that aren't from Mar 2011, etc.
So first of all, I'm confused by all the various Wine programs/apps/whatevers. I've seen Wine, Wineskin, Winery, Wine Bottler, and at this point I wouldn't be surprised if there are even more than that. What's the difference between all of these and how do they work with one another? What do I actually need to get windows programs working?
All of my google searches have led me to people giving out fish, but no one giving out fishing lessons. I'm not a pro at mac and windows and all that, but I'm a fairly bright individual who gets VERY frustrated, very quickly, when I don't understand the why and how of something I'm attempting.
I've also found "answers" where the person attempting to help starts off helpful enough, but degrades into the most archaic of techno-babble after about 5-6 sentences. On the other hand, I've watched tutorials on youtube where the poster decides to skip (apparently crucial) sections of the tutorial, and mutters such gems as: "... you might wanna have to run Wine first before you can do anything, cuz I think it has to configure it and set up a bunch of stuff"
    O.o
A happy medium between techno-babble and the most basic of explanations would be ideal for me, and I'd imagine for others as well.
Here is a summarized history of my relationship with Wine:
Diablo II - I downloaded this awesome thing which ended up being... uh... I guess Diablo II in a Wineskin "wrapper". I'm not sure, all I know is that it's a D2 icon, and if I go to 'show package contents', it's got C drive, Program Files, et cetera inside of it. I double click it, it launches D2, and it works like a dream. <3
'Vanilla Install' - That's what I heard someone call it. It was the command/terminal style install using xquartz and xcode found at http://www.davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/. I followed every instruction to the letter, and got all the way to '$ sudo port install wine', at which point it started going smoothly, free from the possible error he described regarding the installation of xcode, and then just failed after I left the room to use the restroom and came back. Please don't ask me to repeat what the error was, because honestly, after reading more things on the interwebs, I'm confused as to why it's even necessary to go through all of that, so I'd rather not try that route again anyways, rendering the error message quite possibly irrelevant.
Wine + Wine Bottler - So I decided to try to seek out an easier method, as I know that one must exist that doesn't involve command lines. I found a video tutorial at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0BBkISOcEA, and oh man would it be great if that method had actually worked. Again, I followed all instructions provided to procure my free fish, and at the point in the video where he declares that "xquarts or x11 will open" - it doesn't open. Nothing opens. I was trying to install Star Sonata, btw.
So here I am, thoroughly worn out, frustrated at all the random places Wine is installed on my mac now, and just want someone to explain it all, from top down, without getting toooooooo technical on me. I know that might be asking a lot...

    ## I know that the poster has already found a solution, but the following is a possible answer for others that have similar issues.
For Winebottler, just go to their website and download it. Run the program. Choose .wine as your prefix (best choice) or whatever suits you best. You'll need a functional X11. If you can't use the one that comes with your mac, download the latest one from the website.
If your issue is one with Winebottler's Wine not running correctly due to X11, then you have a pretty ugly problem, although a simple upgrade is the best solution (Upgrade XQuartz.app).
    http://www.davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/#part-1
The above website is the easiest way to get REAL wine on your computer. First of all, Wineskin WInery, etc. are NOT WINE. They are 3rd party apps that may use Wine or may have originally part of Wine, but they are no longer up to date with Wine. WineBottler is currently up to date with the stable releases of Wine (but not the maintenence releases).
For the website tutorial and to run Wine on your mac without using a thrid party app, you will need to know a few things.
First, you will need to know basic control of the command line. That means, sudo (you must know the administrator password to your computer), and the forms of cd (change directory).
Second, you will need Xcode. Download 4.2 (stable) or whatever other versions you want, but beware: It is over 1 GB, and you will need time for it to work.
Third, you will need to get MacPorts and configure it. The tutorial should have this data.
When you download wine (use sudo port install wine-devel for the latest development release of wine), it will first download a lot of dependencies. This will take a while. After that, it will download wine itself.
After obtaining wine, to run a program, open the terminal.app window.
    cd desktop/XYZ/ZYZ\ WRQ
The above will first enter the desktop, then folder XYZ, then folder ZYZ WRQ. From here,
    wine th11e.exe
Or whatever executable you are trying to open. (Using Subterranean Animism as my example).
It should, in theory, run the program. Watch the terminal for errors. If there is an X11 problem, then it's not wine acting up. If the app crashes or has other issues, check the Wine Application Database to see if your app is compatible with wine.
If you have any further questions or other things, feel free to reply; I may or may not get back to you, but there's a good chance that someone will come in eventually. Otherwise, the Wine Wiki should have some information.

  • Wine and KDE shortcuts

Using the Window-Specific workarounds I'm able to disable KDE global shortcuts.  For example, in Diablo 2, ALT-F2 does not bring up the run dialog.  GREAT!
My problem is that there are occasions that I want my full-screen wine application to loose focus or minimize; for example to make a Skype call.  When someone calls me the Skype dialog and KDE taskbar pop to the front allowing me to minimize my wine application.  However, I have no way of making a call without exiting the application.
I'm kind of at a loss here.  I don't want to disable the KDE global shortcuts but I'd like some way of minimizing the full-screen wine application.  Does anyone have a creative suggestion?

  • [Wine] Sound card selecting issues

Since a month or too, after one of my weekly updates, wine started to select the wrong sound card for its audio playback. Thus, alas, no sound in wine applications.
When selecting the audio tab in winecfg, I get the following console output:
fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on HDA NVidia, disabling mixer
fixme:jack:JACK_drvLoad error loading the jack library libjack.so.0, please install this library to use jack
I don't use jack, so that can be ignored. The HDA NVidia - the S/PDIF on my NVidia video card I presume, I don't use either. What I do use is my onboard sound chip in combination with alsa, which works perfectly on non-wine applications.
So, I got the following set up:
    $ cat /proc/asound/modules
    0 snd_hda_intel
    1 snd_hda_intel
    $ aplay -l

    snd_page_alloc 7361 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm
Note that I already blacklisted snd_hda_codec_nvhdmi, which was in the above output before blacklisting.
Also note the weirdness of having two identical modules for card 0 and card 1. I guess the chip on the video card is Intel as well. I this possible?
Now the list of things I tried, all without a positive result.
First, I completely reconfigured my alsa set up.
    Secondly, I blacklisted snd_hda_codec_nvhdmi in /etc/rc.conf
Thirdly, I used the info from http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys to force wine to use card0:
    AutoScanCards=N
    AutoScanDevices=N
    DeviceCTL1=hw:0
    DevicePCM1=hw:0
Fourthly, I edited .asoundrc to force alsa to use only card0:
    # define soundcard to use, hw0:0
    pcm.!default {
    type hw
    card SB
    # device 0
    # define control device to use, hw0:0
    ctl.!default {
    type hw
    card SB
    # device 0
Finally, I tried the above globally in /etc/asound.conf
I even waited two wine updates to see if that would fix it.
All above did not solve the sound issue and winecfg still gives the same error output as before.
Note that the sound works fine in everything, except in wine.
Anyone has any ideas or insight?

I think you should put the device also, as shown on your "aplay -l". Try and let me know (I will try asap).
Edit: Forget what I just said and just follow strictly the wine wiki page. In my case it was a problem when installing lib32-openal from the repos. It gave an error and did not install the first time, but I thought it was removed from the repos and wasn't needed anymore.

  • Help required in endeca java application

    Hi,
I am creating a java application of the endeca wine application. I am able to display the results but facing issue in creating the product links for individual products which we redirect me to the product detail page. How will the string query created append the R parameter to the query?
    Pls let me know.
    Thanks,
    Vineet

There multiple ways you can do this
    1. As you mentioned using R (Record Query) - where you should pass the endeca record ID, not the product ID for this to work
    2. if you have unique product ids, you can use ntk param to look at only ID property and set ntt value as product id
    hope this helps.
