Win 7 64 Bit Problem CS 5.5

Hi Guys,
I have a simple plug-in with a few menus. Right now I have compiled it for win 7 64 bit platform (the normal release 32bit version of the plug-in is not loading on win 7 64 bit) - no warnings, no errors, the plug-in was created at releasex64\.... folder.
InDesign CS 5.5 has loaded this plug-in without any error messages but the menus are not there
Any suggestions what could be wrong or where or how could I check why? - thx
regards

Maybe you created Model Plugin instead UI plugin. You can check that by resource PluginVersion (kSDKDefPluginVersionResourceID) in your .fr file.
If last line in that block is kUIPlugIn then plugin will be visible in InDesign. If last line is kModelPlugIn, then you will not see that plugin.
Also, please check version of your SDK in the top directiory of InDesign SDK.
InDesign CS5.5 Products SDK Build 142 is the latest one.
Regards
Bartek

    Hi,
If you're starting to get Smart warnings, it's probably best to think about replacing the Hard Drive - at the very least, make sure you have a current back-up of all your personal files etc in case the drive fails suddenly.
If you'd like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive, please post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.

You can check winecfg -> Graphics to see if Direct3D Vertex Shader Support is set to hardware.  If it isn't, switch it.  Otherwise it's probably just a bug with emulating that game.
Here's the linux gamer's howto on the game; but it looks like they didn't have much trouble with it so it probably won't be much help.
Also if you don't mind, please don't post the same thread in multiple topics.  Thanks.

Try to use Windows XP SP2/3 compatibility mode first, see if it works for you. And use Alchemy for the Audigy 2 ZS, FS2004 is making use of Directsound after all. Read the guide for using Alchemy here and here. Download Creative Alchemy here.
    Hope it works for you!

  • Windows 7 64-bit problems

Hi all. I'm aware that this is a fairly prominent problem and, reading around, I have seen that some people have been able to resolve this particular issue. I am having problems however, and cannot aptly describe the sheer frustration I am feeling. Recently upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit, I installed iTunes only to find that it had clearly installed a 32-bit version. Whenever starting the application I was confronted with a message that said I would be unable to burn cds unless I correctly reinstalled iTunes. This morning, then, I decided to download the most recent 64-bit version of iTunes. Upon finishing installation I was greeted by the notification "The folder iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions to this folder." Delving into the same issue posted by the myriad people that have encountered this problem, I have seen that it is a permissions problem for Windows. However, I have been wholly unable to resolve it. Is there any way I can get help with this I would be incredibly thankful. Cheers.

itunes for windows is a 32-bit program, no matter which OS it is installed on. Only the drivers are different for 64-bit OS. What you're seeing is normal there.
+I have seen that it is a permissions problem for Windows.+
In Win Explorer, right-click on the itunes folder, Get Properties > Security tab.
Make sure your username has full control and ownership, and apply to all child/subfolders.
If still no joy, temporarily turn off UAC and see if itunes will launch.

  • Flash Player in Windows 8.1 64 bit problems .....

Hi. I have just installed Windows 8.1, but have problems with the embedded Flash Player in Internet Explorer.
Starting Internet Explorer from the Desktop causes no problems. In particular (in case this has any bearing), going to BBC.co.uk, Sport,Formula 1, and playing videos there uses Flash Player with no problem.
Starting Internet Explorer from the Start screen (the Graphical one!) opens BBC.co.uk fine, through Sport to Formula 1 - OK. Even before I try to play any of the videos, attached to each video is a message telling me that I have the wrong vesrion of Flash Player, and invites me to download the correct one. Trying this brings an error message saying that Flash Player is an integrated part of I.E., and will not allow me to download. Attempting to "update to the latest version for Win 8.1" gives me the same message. The reported version I have is 12.0.0.77, the O.S. is Windows 8.1 (64 bit), but the Browser reported is NONE. I have checked that Flash Player is enabled, and visited Manage ..... I cannot find a problem. Can someone cast any light?

Using the non-desktop version of IE11 is where we see this most often. The problem can be summed up in three words:
    "User-Agent Strings"
That doesn't mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11. YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play. Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess thay've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE... Problem with that is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in. I've read elsewhere that Opera in "Turbo Mode" is the best for viewing ANYTHING at bbc.co.uk. "Turbo Mode" enables proxy viewing, which apparently helps with the bbc site.

  • Sticky Bit - Problem...

    Hello,
I have one thing to ask, to clarify... Some weeks ago after a system migration from win/sql to linux/oracle (and after an oracle upgrade from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.1), we faced an error during DB13, the job Scheduled Update Statistics finished with an error! After some research, we found the solution... the reason was the version of oracle instant client that was the version 10.2.0.2 (the first version of this OIC)!
So after I performed the update of oracle instant client (OIC) to version 10.2.0.4 (V3) the error finally disappeared... and it was the solution, which in that moment I thought it had been responsible for this correction!... but now I'm not so sure! Why?! Because the same problem appear again on another system, I performed the same solution, I updated the oracle instant client to version 10.2.0.4 v3 but unfortunately the problem still continue appear! So what I concluded, was that is not the solution, I realized this is not only because of the old OIC version that is installed in our system... there is other problem which is related to permissions!
Later I discovered that the STICKY BIT (?) had been applied before I have upgraded the oracle instant client... and in fact in this new system, after the solution of oracle client update the error still continued appear and in fact only after the application of sticky bit in this system the error definitely no longer appear!
So my question is what is this?... what is Sticky Bit?
I looked in SAP Marketplace if there were any related sapnotes to sticky bit but I didn´t found anything... this is some mandatory procedure?... if so, sap recommends the application of this where? in which situations?
I don´t know exactly what is STICKY bit and what he do... but the truth is that from the moment I applied it, with command ./saproot.sh (with root) on /sapmnt/SID/exe, we resolve the other part of this problem... I tried to search sapnotes in SAP marketplace about this sticky bit but I didn´t find anything... Can you explain me better if sap advice to apply this sticky bit... and if it can origin any problem or if there are any conflict with other things when we applied it on system!??
    Kind regards,
    Joao Dimas - Portugal

Now I think I understand the meaning and what is its functionality... but explain me another thing, the application of sticky bit with ./saproot.sh <SAPSID> changed other four files: brarchive; brbackup; brconnect and icmbnd  (this five files now have a red colour)...
Yes, and they have an "s" instead of an "x" if you use ls -l.
The same thing is true for those files. The br*tools must be run as the user running/owning the database software (oraadm during startsap.
So, if this is so important to run (because if I didn´t ran this command the job throught DB13 can not runs) why there isn´t sap notes or sap documentation, discussing this issue and the need to apply the sticky bit to fix this problem?
    It's documented - but hidden:

  • Bad crash when printing to pdf in Morningstar software - is it a 64 bit problem?

Had bad crash when printing to pdf in Morningstar Principia Pro software - is it a 64 bit compatability problem? All other software I have can print
to Acrobat pdf, but in Morningstar the Window 7 PC freezes and not even Task manager can
unfreeze the computer. Acrobat worked fine in my old XP 32 bit PC when printing from Morningstar. Recently a webinar using
an Adobe webinar software I was told I must only use a 32 bit browser, so I suspect Acrobat is incompaitble with my new 64 bit PC. Work around solution is to print to Microsoft XPS and then convert to Acrobat but I want to use Acrobat only! Is there a patch for people using 64 bit PCs?
Can someone at Adobe respond to me, please? I have used Acrobat for over 10 years and am very loyal.

Michael: I have tested other programs ability to print to Acrobat and also tested ability for other programs to
export to Excel or Word. The only crash is when printing an Acrobat pdf from Morningstar Principia Pro I get a bad crash. The work around is to print to XPS and then convert the XPS file to Acrobat pdf. To get out of the crash which can't be fixed by Windows Task Manager shut down, is to open the printer file and tell the printer to delete the pending print job.
I'm using latest Version 9.3.4 Standard Acrobat; Win 7 Pro 64 bit, 10 g of RAM, HPE 390t standalone PC, no networking.

Trying to run WoW in Linux.
Fully updated the system. Installed wine from repositories. Copied a working install of WoW from a Windows partition. Edited the config to allow opengl. The game starts, brings me to the login screen. I enter details, see the "connecting" popup and then wine crashes. This is all console output I get after typing "wine Wow.exe".

I had this very same problem, I have managed to fix it by installing an older version of the kernel alongside the cuirrent one whilst waiting for the new kernel, at which point I will remove the older version.
To do this, install kernel26-lts from the AUR.
You then need to edit your grub configuration file to include the kernel26-lts in your boot choices (alongside Arch and Arch Fallback).
I also had to install nvidia-lts because I have a nvidia graphics card.  Nvidia-lts is the older version of the driver made to work with kernel26-lts.
    Hope this help
Errrr, I have a feeling that the fallback kernel _is_ kernel26-lts ... and I don't see any package named kernel26-lts in the AUR.

  • Need Help: TS130 Server and Windows Server 2008 R2 64 Bit Problems

I have 2 TS 130 Lenovo Servers with Xeon 3.2 Ghz CPUs and 16GB of memory. Installing ANY version of Windows 64 Bit after a couple of reboots will cause the system to blue screen. Once it blue screens it is impossible to get back into Windows.
Get this. Installing ANY version of Windows 32 bit works just fine on either machine. I have swapped out ram, hard drives, raid on raid off, updated BIOS etc and the same exact issue on both machines. I have swapped out media thinking maybe it was just a bad disk, but after 3 copies of Server 2008 R2 64 and 2 copies of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and 3 copies of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and THEN the same problem occurring over and over on BOTH servers.. well needless to say I am pulling mu hair out. These are ALL OEM copies by the way not burned copies.
I called Lenovo Thinkserver support as we are a partner, and their only suggestion was changing some legacy settings in the BIOS which of course has done nothing. I have changed every setting in the BIOS that I feel it could possibly be and still no joy.
Thinking it MAY have been a video problem, I have even went so far as to add new video cards to both machines and the problem still exists on both machines. All drivers are latest versions, and I am getting tired of getting everything setup, and then BAM BSOD.. I have been a tech for 25 years, and I have NEVER seen this issue on any machine ever..
As far as the BSODs, one time it will be the language pack error, next time something else, and the next time something else.. no way to nail down the problem.
I KNOW its a machine error, especially when 32 bit runs fine on either machine, but what it is I have no clue.
I am hopeful someone here has had the same issue and can tell me what they may have done to solve the problem. It is absolutely driving me up the wall....
Thanks in advance for ANY help or suggestions.

Never mind.. FINALLY found the problem. Even though I swapped out media etc as far as Server 2008 went, I always used the same COA key.. guess what... English media and Japanese key.... snafu on our OEM vendors end I suppose.
Anyway I was issued a new product/virtual key through Microsoft and it resolved the issue.... stupidest thing I ever saw...

  • Laserjet 1505 Windows 7 64 bit problems

    Hello,
I work for a community college in the IT dept. We are currently upgrading our computers to Windows 7 64 bit OS. I have two computers which have a Laserjet 1505 with them. I have tried several combinations of drivers, including the downloadable CD equivalent software. I can get the test page to print out just fine but when i leave and the user try's to print anything it starts to go through a sequence of trying to print for at least 3 rotations. The error lights will flash in sequence and no error message pops up on the screen. If I log into a local admin account and try printing a test page the error will seem to go away, for a time at least. However printing on envelopes may slow down. It seems as though this may be a permissions issue. A power cycle will also seem to wreck havoc on the printer as well. I dont think this is a driver issue because things seem to change just by changing logged in user. However I could be wrong about that. Any help would be much appreciated.

I would first like to thank the HP tech support for all the help with this issue. Your dedication to your customers was pivotal in this 3 week long troubleshooting process.
Now for anyone out there who may have a similar problem and don't feel like being jerked around for more money by the greedy corporation HP, Ill share my fix for this issue.
Log in to an administrator account and then go to Devices and printers.  Right click on the P1505 printer icon and select Printer Properties.  Go to the security tab at the top.  Select everyone and give them all the options in the check boxes that you can.  This includes Manage this Printer, Manage Documents and Print.  This solved the issue of the printer slowing down and "Practicing printing" before actually printing.
I don't know why these privileges were causing the printer to fault but it appears that there was some change in how the default settings operate between XP and windows 7.

  • Itunes 10 on Windows 7 64 bit problems

    Hi
I installed Itunes 10 on my new Windows 7 64 bit laptop and since then, I only have problems:
    1. Every time I lunch Itunes the message appears: windows is configuring Itunes...wait... then it starts. Don't know what this is but it is definitely annoying.
    2. When I want to activate the PC, I receive the following message: Errors occured when saving Identification information. Try to repair Itunes...
I tried to do this but with no success!
Would appreciate if you could help me as I have several purchased records which I can only play if I can connect to my Itunes account!!!!
    Thanks
    Thomas

Try deleting the itunes shortcut and rebuilding a new one.
Post back if you need more info on that.
