When I installed Firefox 4 I noticed that the downloads kept freezing. I noticed that whenever I moved the mouse pointer the download would resume. When the download freezes I could leave it for 20 minutes or more and the download would not complete. When I paused the frozen download and restarted it the download completed.
After reverting back to Firefox 3.6.16 I no longer have this problem with downloads. Is there a conflict with the Microsoft mouse driver and Firefox 4 in Windows 7 64 environment?

Annoying issues with MS optical trackball

I just recieved a Microsoft optical trackball of this model,[ purchased via eBay. Very nice, better than my old mouse... But there's a weird problem with it. Occasionally, the optical tracking seems to "slip" in some way, and the cursor fails to move as much as it ought to, or moves more than it should - kind of like what happens to an old-style mouse or trackball with filthy rollers. Both the trackball's cradle and the ball itself are intact and completely clean, and I'm sure I'm using the right driver (imPS/2). Yet the cursor is not moving in a smooth fashion, and sometimes fails to move at all for a few seconds. What the hell is going on? :shock:
(It's interesting to note that this "slippage" is more pronounced with vertical than horizontal motion. The horizontal motion is generally fine, but the cursor often moves a shorter distance than it should vertically - as I said before, just like what you get with a dirty roller-mouse.)

I have the exact same trackball and its been working fine for me for years. I purchaced it back when logitech downsized their trackballs and they were no longer comfortable for my big hands. I've been using this configuration for it in my xorg.conf for a while now and have had none of the problems you've mentioned.

This article in the wiki is good for getting the forward and back button working as well.
Surpisingly its lasted alot longer then any of the logitech trackballs I owned before it. I would usually wear down the ball supports to the point where the ball would stick constantly in five or six months with the logitech balls. I've had this microsoft ball for about two and a half years now and its still going strong. I'm sure the fact that I broke my gaming addiction about two years ago has nothing to do with that though

I have a similar problem: I switched from mac mail to Outlook 2011 as the default client, and want to switch back. Mailto links (eg from browser etc) default to Mail. However, when I try to email a Word document as an attachment, it continues to open Outlook. Outlook has a button in its prefs for making it the default client, but I don't see a way to turn this pref off in either Outlook or in Word.

Used to be the case but no longer. Adobe's process is now much simpler.
All software versions (whether full or upgrades) include the full program code. The serial number you enter tells the installer if it's an upgrade or a full version.

Install it then enter your LR 4 serial number. The installer will then ask for an earlier version serial. Enter your LR3 serial and the install will complete.

You should clean up your inbox on the server. Log into the account's web interface and move the 35,000 emails out of the inbox into another folder. Why do you need to keep 35,000 emails in the inbox? An email client like OutLook etc. using POP protocol downloads all the inbox emails to your computer.

"No Boot Disk" on new iMac with external optical drive

So I am experiencing a problem similar to what some people have had, but I have the brand new iMac which does not come with a cd drive.
I have a fusion drive in the iMac.
I downloaded Windows 7 Ultimate from my University software store, which gave me a .img file. I burned this file to disk in order to make the boot drive.
I am using an amazon basics DVD optical drive which connects to my computer via USB.
Upon boot into windows, it does not recognize the dvd in the drive as bootable, and says "No Bootable Disk Found, Press Any Key". Of course, I have a bluetooth keyboard and cannot press any key because there are currently no drivers.
So, any ideas on why it won't recognize my boot dvd?

It was just a simple case of removing the verbose boot settings which I found a script for after searching on Google.

U410 no sound, Win 7, new drivers, Conexant smartaudio not working properly

Hey there everybody,
I hope you guys will be able to help me.
I just got my laptop back from repairs and now the following problem is presenting itself:
I don't get any sound from my internal speakers, when I plug in headphones, I can hear sound. The lever bar on the is moving and when I run a diagnostic programm, it doesn't find any fault with the speakers.
Here's what I did so far:
got my laptop back from repairs, went to listen to some songs on youtube when all of a sudden the sound stopped mid-video. Thought it was a problem with flash, so installed the new flash player. No change
I deinstalled and reinstalled all drivers, all to no avail.
Did a bios-update, no luck either.
actually did onekey recovery - nothing.
The weird thing is, once in a while I'll get the start up sound and maybe sound for 1-2 mins (last night even 30!!!) and then it just stops. It doesn't make a cracking/buzzing sound when going out either, it just stops.
Of course I've tried deleting the drivers and running with the built-in speakers that work with some microsoft drivers, also no difference.
I've even tried disabling Intel Display Audio to see if there was a miscommunication between the two, but nothing.
I also ran a diagnostic programm from Microsoft, it didn't really find anything but it did say it doesn't get any "jack information". And I also noticed that the location is: Path 0...so I'm not sure, if that's got anything to do with it!
As you can see, I pretty much tried just about everything. Been reading every community entry with a somewhat similiar problem I could find, still nothing.
I'm super desperate right now...please help!!!

Thanks. I have rolled back to .4.2_07. and that works. Also have set the update option to no updates (Cntrol Panel -- Java Plug in). However, every day I lose the sound even though no new Java update has been installed. strange.
If I restore my system back to the older day it works. I do have the older runtime .4.2_05, .4.2_06 too.
Is there any other location I need to set the updates off? Or any other driver conflict that is going on?
Why is everyone not having this issue?

I traveled to a different country and using a new sim/new carrier. With the change in the sim, I have been unable to use the iMessage--outside of WiFi coverage area, and FaceTime at all time. I believe it is due to the phone number registered as an address in the phone, which has not changed with the change of sim; so it countinues to showing as an error while varifying the data.
Wonder if any of you are in a position to advise as to how to address the following.
1. I need to input correct phone no, meaning the number I am using in the correct location.
2. I need to activate FaceTime and be able to use it.
3. I need to be able to use iMessage and/or ordinary sms while outside of WiFi coverage area.
It may be mentioned in my current location I don't have GPRS on the cell phone which is the case in my regular station.

Usps click n ship when I try to sign in it loops back to sign in and will not let me send a package. New problem with USPS after they updated. I'm on Mac using 10.6.8

HT1351 I have 2 ipods -1st generation Nano and I pod Touch. I tunes will not sync with the former. It appears this has only been a problem since downloading I Tunes 11. On connecting the Nano I Tunes does not seem to recognise it in any shape or form.

Never mind, turns out that by uninstalling the programs "Megakey" and "Megaupload" it had resolved this issue.

Microsoft optical mice and wheel scrolling in multi-row block

Hi.
One part of our form is a multi-row block. It has a scroll bar and upto this point you can scroll using the wheel when your mouse is on the scroll bar or if the pointer is anywhere within the multi-row block, you can use the wheel to scroll. This works for logitech ball and optical mice, ibm ball mice and even microsoft ball mice. All of them have the wheel. We do find a problem with microsoft optical mice whether its the explorer or optical brand. The wheel mouse works when the pointer is on the scroll bar but it does not scroll if the pointer is within the multi-row block. I have spoken with Oracle and of course they say its microsofts problem. Has anyone come across this? I have contacted microsoft but no word as yet.

Forms has no support for the Wheel Scrolling action - if it works at all it's because the Mouse driver is clever enough to work out when it is on a ScrollBar and send the relevant Windows Events. You may find it also works in Multi-line text items.

Stuck on "searching for new drivers"

I've connected a Dymo LabelWriter 450 to the USB port on my Mac (after installing the Dymo software and restarting).
When I go into Add Printer and select the Dymo driver, I get a message saying "searching for new drivers" and a spinning beachball - and it never returns.
I searched the forum and there was a previous thread on the "searching for new drivers"problem that was closed without any resolution.

It would be really helpful if someone came up with a solution to this problem. I get this hang on 'searching for new drivers' with two different HP printers- both recognised by Bonjour but it seems impossible to add them. I only managed to get one of them working (and HP 5850) by installing an opensource HP driver (HPIJS 2.7.10 for Mac) designed originally for Linux users. To get this to work I first had to install foomatic and ghostsript for Mac OS X. See http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs
The second printer is an HP 2570 and this is still causing problems.
